Hello, I have a recall for the corrosion on my Honda crv 2008, american Honda already has everything on file from the dealer ship I took to get it inspected and is been a whole month and american Honda hasn’t reached out to me. I have been asking american Honda if I could get a loaner car or rental as the service manager at the dealership has said he cannot provide a rental until american Honda authorized since obviously some one has to pay for it. And I’m just reaching out if you guys could help me anyway to help me get this sorted out, dealership has already told me the car is un repairable at this point due to the bad corrosion and american Honda has acknowledged that and said someone from the median department or something like that was gonna reach out to me that was 2 weeks ago and I have reached out a week ago and they said someone would reach out and I have not received anything as I have told them, I really need a car since I recently had my baby and you know I need to come to work and go back home. Please if you guys can help me.

This is a complaint in reference to a current recall for the rear rust and corrosion issues on Honda crvs, part 573 safety recall report 23v-228. I brought my vehicle to matt burne Honda on January 7 2025 for this recall and they "inspected" and passed the vehicle, installed the brace, and said all was well as they handed me the keys. In early March I took the car in for its state inspection and it failed due to all of the rust/corrosion/frame rot on the rear of this vehicle. When I called matt burne to find out why they installed the brace on this vehicle with all that rust, and why they never even bothered to mention the rust to me, they said that for the recall to pass all they needed to do was remove the bolt for the trailing arm and that all the rust didn't matter, and whether or not it could pass a state inspection didn't matter. This, put me and my family at risk. The rust and corrosion is severe. My family and I have been driving in it thinking it was all okay since the recall was completed. Yet they never thought to mention it. Isn't this recall in reference to rust and corrosion on the rear frame? yes, I understand it involves the trailing arm, but wasn't there a punch test and a frame inspection that was supposed to be a part of this? how is it that the frame can rot away and practically disintegrate and yet that doesn't matter? after a month of trying to reach Honda, they finally told me I needed to take it to a Honda dealer because the 2 inspection centers I had taken it to weren't good enough. I wound up taking to to motorworld Honda for an "inspection" and all they did was look at the installed brace and say everything was good, even though that at this point they were now unable to put the car on the lift since that spot on the frame has rusted away. In March it was able to be put on the lift? what happened since? and how is this acceptable as far as this recall is concerned? they put my life and the lives of my family at risk as well as others.

Two actuator for the doors were said to be replaced by the previous owner in 2015. However, all four of my actuators are not working. Sometimes, it unlocks by itself when driving and I have had issues at times when I am not able to unlock the door at all. This poses safety risk to not being able to get out at times from both inside and outside.

The rear frame of my crv has corroded and deteriorated. The rear trailing arm is at risk of falling off and could cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall paperwork I received from american Honda motor CO. Inc. States, “your Honda dealer will inspect the rear frame for corrosion. Depending on the extent of corrosion, the dealer may attach a support brace to the rear frame and/or repair the rear frame, for free. If the rear frame cannot be repaired, Honda may offer to repurchase the vehicle from you. If you paid out of pocket to have these specific recall repairs performed on your vehicle, you may be eligible for reimbursement. ” I took my vehicle to Honda north for the repair. They attached the support brace, yet told me my vehicle is still unsafe to drive and refused to pass my vehicle for the required PA state inspection. I believe they need to move to the next step on the recall (repair of the rear frame) since the addition of the support brace did nothing to correct the safety issue on my vehicle. I took my vehicle to get two second opinions and both stated the vehicle is unsafe to drive due to the rear frame corrosion. I do not understand how Honda can put out a recall specific to the rear frame, then refuse to make the appropriate corrections so that the vehicle is safe. Why bother attaching the support brace if it does nothing to correct the reason for Honda’s recall? I filed a complaint with american Honda, but I have not heard back from them in 3 1/2 weeks although I call daily. I was quoted $3000 for these repairs by an independent body shop.

On October 9, 2022, I filed a complaint with NHTSA regarding this vehicle due to excessive and extreme rear frame corrosion. On may 6, 2023, my son was driving this vehicle and was involved in an incident while the vehicle was in motion. The rear subframe separated from the vehicle on the driver side. My son lost control of the vehicle. Fortunately, my son was able to avoid a direct collision with oncoming traffic. On may 15, 2023, the vehicle was towed to victory Honda in monroe, michigan. The vehicle was inspected, and we were assigned a case number (#13814983). We were promised a loaner vehicle (which has never been made available). As a result, my son had to resign his position at work because he lost his mode of transportation. I have called american Honda on a weekly basis requesting an update. I've been told our case is almost completed. We have been waiting for more than 4 months for the buyback as promised. We were told we would be getting $7,900 for the Cr-v, plus out of pocket costs paid for a rental car on two occasions and payment for recent mechanical improvements. Honda USA has failed to resolve this manner in a reasonable and timely manner. 100+ days is not timely. We have lost income due to the loss of use of this vehicle. We have not been provided the loaner vehicle as promised. Please escalate our complaint. This is the second time this matter is being reported to the NHTSA. Please note, this is more serious now since my son was driving the vehicle when the subframe separated. He could have been killed or badly injured.

I had my car in the shop as I had an issue with my starter. The mechanic sent us photos as he found as serious problem with rust and corrosion around the rear axle. He thought it would be okay to drive home (not after that). He was wrong and the rear axle fell off. My dad was driving and as far as I know he is okay. I did research and it seems the vins starting with 5 were made in ohio (I bought the car in ohio) and it the message boards are correct, were in the same batch as the canadian ones they recalled. They have not recalled these in the u. S. For the rear axle but they did in canada. Why? I drive my son every other weekend hours each way as his dad lives out of state. We travel I-65, I-70, and highways. We could have died! Honda needs to recall these immediately before someone dies. Please let me know if you need more photos. I will take more photos when the tow driver gets my car home.

12 Body problem

This vehicle had a wheel separation while traveling at low speed. The right rear wheel separated from the car. The cause is excessive rust to the trailing arm and specifically to the subframe to which the trailing arm is attached. The car is available for inspection. I also have photographs that show the problem. The safety issue is clear. After separation the car cannot be controlled if in motion. This particular vehicle has not been inspected. The wheel separation was reported by me to Honda in north America, to "chris" in "client relations. " a case number was issued for my complaint, #00499145. An insurance claim was made, but the insurer denied the claim. My research shows that this model crv has been recalled in canada for this precise problem. In canada, Honda states that this model crv has "excessive" rust, leading to failure. Further, that the problem is not readily apparent on inspection, and in fact this car is inspected annually as part of north carolina licensure, and no inspection ever revealed the excessive rust threat. Here is the Honda press release: " January 23, 2019 Honda has voluntarily recalled approximately 83,953 2007-2011 Cr-v vehicles in canada to address potential excessive corrosion to the rear frame stiffener(s). On affected vehicles, one or both rear frame stiffener(s) may become excessively corroded over time. Such excessive corrosion may be more prevalent where a vehicle is regularly operated in regions where road DE-icing salt is frequently used during the winter season. Although a certain amount of corrosion is expected to occur from everyday operation of the vehicle, excessive corrosion to the rear frame may result in frame stiffener perforation and, in extreme cases, cause the rear-trailing arm to separate from the vehicle’s frame structure. A separated rear-trailing arm may cause the vehicle to be difficult to control, increasing the risk of a crash. ".

I brought my vehicle to a licensed garage to be inspected. They told me the rear frame stiffeners in my vehicle are corroded and will not pass new york state inspection. I was also warned it is extremely dangerous to continue to drive my car as the rear tire attaches to the rusted out spot on the frame. There is the potential for the rear tire assembly to detach while going down the road and cause loss of control. There is an open recall in canada for this exact problem for the years 2007 to 2011. There is currently no recall in the us.

2008 Cr-v subframe/rear control arm rusted so severely came apart while driving. Very fortunate there was not an accident, this caused sudden loss of control of vehicle. Had to be towed and is now inoperable and unable to be repaired. There is a recall in canada to address this condition, why not the united states? we contacted Honda customer service to inquire and no response from them. This is a very dangerous condition that gave no warning. The body is not rusted.

Hello, the front right door of my car doesn't unlock at all and the back left door doesn't lock. Honda already has acknowledged the issue but this expired on 2015. Because the front door doesn't unlock it's a safety issue and the cost to fix is very expensive as the door needs to be deassembled. There cost to open the door and fix it is almost 500 dollars. I have called Honda but they are saying the product warranty expired on 2015.

Luckily it wan't an emergency situation otherwise I couldn't image that. Also the trunk lock has been dead since then. The right rare door has very loud clicking noise when I lock or unlock the door. The passage side door lock makes a scaring noise when locking. Diagnosed by a Honda dealer as a defective door lock actuator. This is a known safety issue with a published Honda TSB (#14-084). I had to pay for replacing the actuator (because I was told that my car had been out of warranty). It is not fair that I had to pay for the defective part used by the manufacturer.

Driver was parked/idling in parking lot when loud explosion happened. Driver thought someone had rear ended her. Two bystanders were concerned and came over to check on driver. They said no one had hit her. They found a filter, gasket and a piece of insulation under the car. Upon inspection driver saw that the front bumper had partially blown out from the car, it was detached under the hood, under the grill and around the wheel well. Also a large chunk of wheel well is missing. Car was towed to driver's mechanic. Mechanic determined the a/c compressor exploded, subsequently blowing shrapnel throughout the entire system, ruining the entire system as well as causing said body damage. Mechanic also determined that the filter, gasket and sock had blown out from the bottom of the a/c compressor, the blast from the explosion was the apparent cause of the body damage. A complete report from a body shop will be obtained today. Driver was quite concerned about the massive damage done and how easily someone near the car at the time could have been hurt. Driver was also concerned about what her response would have been if she were driving down the road at the time of explosion. Driver is a grandma, she meets up with her daughter and granddaughter in very similar situations on a regular basis. The 7 year old granddaughter could have easily been in the blast radius. A complaint was filed with Honda to which they quickly denied any responsibility. A class action lawsuit was filed against Honda and won in 2012 regarding exploding a/c compressors in 2008 crvs. However Honda was absolved of any responsibility for said vehicles after 7 years or 100,000 miles. The crv in question has 120,000 miles.

22 Body problem

Rear passenger door (right side) became totally locked, which automatically also locked the lift-up rear hatch; the door latch had seized. Repairs cost $461. 03 (labor portion was $376. 74) before a 10% discount. This was the 3rd of the 4 door latches to require replacement, only one of them covered in an earlier recall. The remaining front passenger side original latch is now making loud noises and could probably fail at any time. This current reported incident was discovered when the car stopped and a passenger tried to exit on a city street.

24 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2017

Honda replaced both the drivers and passenger front airbags. I was in an accident April 2017. I was broadsided, drivers door was impacted. My head went hrough the drivers window. None of the side airbags inflated. The body shop was disturbed that the airbags did not deploy. I have been in physical therapy since the accident. The va has been supplying medical treatment. Honda denied responsibility although they never saw the car. My insurance company progressive will not repair the faulty airbags because they were faulty before the accident. Westport Honda where I originally purchased the car is not interested in taking it as a trade in because of the known airbag problem. What am I supposed to do? I'm afraid to drive the car. I can't sell the car without revealing the known problem with the airbags. The dashboard display light comes on without warning indicating the side airbags are not working. The indicator is off most of the time. I never know when it's going to come on and how long it's going to be on. Honda indicated to me that the system needs to be tested at my expense. I am disabled and can not afford to have this done. Or able to travel to such a facility.

I have had to have my back hatch repainted, and now above my windshield and grill need to be repainted! whats going to need repainting next?! I can not afford to have my crv repainted, and it is embarrassing! I hand wash my crv with special cloths! if Honda wants me continue buying their vehicles, they had better do something about this!!! I only take my Honda to the Honda vehicle for all oil changes, tire rotation, brakes, all fluid changes, alignments, tires, light bulb replacement (often).
