general problems of the 2008 Honda CR-V - part 1

Both automatic door locks are malfunctioning on the passenger door side. They will not stay unlocked with the vehicle is unlocked. Daughter was choking in backseat & the door would not open unless I pushed the unlocked button and opened the door at the same time.

Understand my car is old but I also understand that there was a class action lawsuit I was not informed about regarding the door actuators the door locks on my vehicle I paid $300 plus to replace the front door actuator and now my back door driver side and back door passenger side door actuators are extremely loud and it is difficult to unlock the door if you're on the inside of the vehicle trying to get out it freezes the door locks that's very dangerous I know my car is old but Honda should still have to replace them considering they agreed to replace all four door actuators back in 2015 but I was not informed of that.

Hello I’m 81 years old and own a 2008 Honda crv that runs fine. VIN:jhlre46558c004560, but previous owner never went to the recall and I bought the car in 2014 and recently, during a brake job, I first became aware of the problem when my mechanic alerted me to the recall situation and the rusting out that was putting drivers in a very dangerous situation. My car failed the recall because of the rust causing the degradation of the rear suspension trailing arm, and now I'm left with a car not fit to drive? and I would be liable for whatever happens but I was never offered a solution to buy the car back something to help and I cannot be without one to get to dr’s or buy food live rural I have no choice living alone at 81 need a car. So a question, why am I the problem? when, in the first place, the car was dangerous from the manufacturer to the rusting out situation which was actually life threatening, lose steering, the wheel could collapse or the frame itself, and again, never offered any help at all some compensation, nothing? just drive it home with the burden of the liability etc. I’m on a fixed income of only $800 a month how am I to survive living rural without a car at my age? please, I need some help. Why am I being punished when the design itself, as I said, created the dangerous problem and just that's it? appreciate help from someone. Ogostino mancini.

Rear right passenger lock actuator failing to unlock randomly, sometimes locks only partially.

Door locks they lock and unlock by themselves and make a noise when locking. Also paint on car doors and back hood paling off car you see medal.

Door lock actuator failed.

Several of the door locks on our 2008 crv will automatically unlock after locking the car when parked making it an easy target for theft. And when the car is running and in park, several of the door locks will not unlock making it extremely difficult to let someone into the car.

The doors keep locking and locking during driving. This is a major safety concern for minor children and safety when car is in motion. And the door locks don’t stay locked when parked. There for my car is open to theft and I am not safe nor are my minor children in the car.

The paint seal never worked or was out in. I’m in the midwest and it’s freezing. The car can’t warm up because all the heat goes through roof where paint is all worn off. It makes you freeze and sick.

A lot smog come out from the wood the a/c stop working.

When attempting to lock the doors with either the key fob or from inside the vehicle, the back door locks stay open. The front passenger door also makes a loud buzzing noise but stays locked. This is an issue when the auto lock function kicks in after every stop sign or red traffic light. I don’t want to leave the car in public spaces for fear of someone entering my vehicle unbeknownst to me. The original vehicle owner had no recollection of any correspondence, by mail or otherwise, related to the 2007-2011 Honda c-RV recalls for this issue.

Rear-door passenger actuators have stopped working one at a time. Honda dealership refused to perform the repaire free of charge. However there was a lawsuits in 2021(?) to have Honda cover the charges free of cost to customers!.

Failure of all door locks. I purchased my 2008 Honda crv new in 2008. While driving all door locks move up and down or open and close and cannot be locked or open with the remote device. After checking on line, I see there have been recalls of similar problems with this model. I called first Honda in simi valley, CA and was told there was a recall but not for my 2008 Honda. This is for sure a safety problem which amazes me when companies that build these cars have so many problems. I understand that if I need to repair the five locks it will cost me over a $1000. I am a senior citizen with limited income and cannot afford a new car so I am between a rock and a hard place. If there is a recall out there, please let me know so I can get this problem fixed. Front passenger door unlock while driving and makes a weird noise while driving I feel unsafe driving with the noise and the door being unlock, first it started unlocking and locking then it get worse within a few days, I feel unsafe driving with my child in the vehicle while its like this.

Had drivers side door lock fixed under recall they didnt fix the passenger and door wouldn't unlock with my pregnant daughter in car plus would unlock while driving down road took to nourse Honda to have fixed cost me 483. 03 to fix on 6/18/2021 and while driving my granddaughter to work passenger door would not unlock on 7/1/2021 I called the nourse repair center and left 2 voice messages with no return calls.

The door locks are not functioning properly or consistently as many prior complaints stated. The doors can not be secured at all times, even when vehicle was moving.

The arm mount failed while driving. This has been recalled in canada but not in the us. I just purchased this the car was in good shape with a valid inspection and could have caused severe harm had we been driving quickly. We were driving 15 miles mph as we were in a residential area. The arm gave out.

Safety recall concern - the doors do not stay locked when car is at a standstill/in motion. When driving they intermittently lock/unlock. I brought this concern to the attention of my mechanic, who informed me that (2) actuators - (1) back & (1) front - need to be replaced, I purchased the vehicle from a used car lot about a year & a half ago. I recently learned that a recall pertaining to this problem was issued 6/30/15. According to NHTSA website, there are 0 unrepaired recalls on my vehicle. Am I ineligible for this recall simply because I'm not the original owner of the vehicle? I'm a female and would like to feel safe while driving around alone in my vehicle. This is impossible to do when the doors simply unlock on their own.

While I was standing, both feet on the ground, outside the car, with the car door open and car motor off, in park, about to go in my house. My car went in reverse, all by itself, knocked me to the ground and ran over my foot/ankle/leg and put me in the hospital for over a week. I have a plate and at least eleven screws in my leg from the operation. I was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. I will need physical therapy. Soon I go back to see the surgeon and get more x-rays, I presently am in a cast. This was/is a most surprising, shocking, painful, depressing and unexpected situation. I do not wish this on anyone! especially since none of this was my fault and due to negligence on the car design, Honda !!!.

The sunroof has become unattached and also I wash and wax my car I see oxidation in the paint.

My front passenger rear left passenger doors along with my trunk are lock and not opening; my vehicle gives the clicks but only two doors open; I can't even open them from the inside it's too hard and not moving.

My crv has acceleration problems when it idles in traffic for long periods it looses the ability to accelerate. It starts to sputter and then dies. But does start back up after sitting for a few minutes it also drives great when outside temps are below 68 degrees but has poor acceleration when outside temps are 70 degrees and above also I noticed there is a gas smell on the oil dip stick. Honda mechanics say they don't know what's wrong with it and there is no check engine light coming on to give me an idea of what is going on with the vehicle this happens no matter if I'm driving on a city road or private road my experience with this is in stop and go traffic that causes the vehicle to have to sit for long periods of time and idle when the acceleration problem happens I can only go 5 mph also vehicle stalls while trying to cross intersections after waiting on a traffic lights to change can someone help me please.

Door lock actuator was replaced as part of class action suit settlement in 2015. 30k miles/3 years later it's failing again.

The door lock actuators were under a previous recall for a defect on the part which expired in 2015 - sb 14-083 and 14-084. The problem could become a safety problems if someone gets in a car accident or has a car fire and either the driver or their passengers cannot get out of the vehicle quickly unless the driver unlocks the door for them and you have to quickly open the vehicle door before it locks on you again.

Door locks make a loud noise and now aren't working right. They should not do this! this vehicle is my daughter's vehicle. She took ownership in July 2018.

I purchase Honda crv 2008 2 years ago and my ac went and now only blows hot air. Honda deal says there was recall that expired 7 years after original purchase date that would have covered a damage ac compressor. There tons of complaints on this issue. My car has less then 100k and they won't honor it anymore. Very expensive to replace 1200k or more.

This is a complaint on the law. I keep getting harrassing recalls for a car that was sold abroad because the WI dmv shows me as th last registered owner. Honda will not stop mailing me because they say the law requires they repeatedly send notices to the last known registered owner. The dmv cannot do anything because I am the last known registered owner. The law should allow for me to remove my name voluntarily.

Front door lock does not always work dealership refuses to fix because it does happen with him this is fourth attemp at getting this fix.

I have 4 cooper discoverer srx size p225-65-14 tires and noticed a recall on cooper tires. . I have been noticing the tire pressure light is on in my car but the tires have "proper pressure" and I noticed it's seemingly harder to steer while my car is in motion. More so starting and stopping. Or lower speeds. This has been happening for the past several weeks with shorter distances of about 30 miles or less.

The front and back passenger side door locks and make clicking sounds whether you are moving or still. When it locks you can not get out or in the vehicle. Back liftgate does the same thing. We have to crawl across the back seat to retrieve what is the very back. It happens if we are still or moving. The problem started a little over a year ago and has gotten worse.

2008 Honda crv rear doors left and right side failed to lock at all time. Front right side failed to lock at all time. Trunk lock actuator motor failed some time open some time stack.

There was a recall for the drivers door actuator in 2015. There was a warranty extension for the other doors. I brought my car to a Honda dealer where they replaced the drivers door actuator and checked the rest. The back passengers door was not staying locked so they replaced that one. I now have a problem with the front passenger door where you can not unlock it . I took it to a different Honda dealer and was told it wasn't covered by the warranty extension anymore. I paid $286. 27 to have it fixed. I think it's very dangerous not to be able to get out of your car door, especially if there was an emergency. I am hoping for some reimbursement from Honda.

Driver was parked/idling in parking lot when loud explosion happened. Driver thought someone had rear ended her. Two bystanders were concerned and came over to check on driver. They said no one had hit her. They found a filter, gasket and a piece of insulation under the car. Upon inspection driver saw that the front bumper had partially blown out from the car, it was detached under the hood, under the grill and around the wheel well. Also a large chunk of wheel well is missing. Car was towed to driver's mechanic. Mechanic determined the a/c compressor exploded, subsequently blowing shrapnel throughout the entire system, ruining the entire system as well as causing said body damage. Mechanic also determined that the filter, gasket and sock had blown out from the bottom of the a/c compressor, the blast from the explosion was the apparent cause of the body damage. A complete report from a body shop will be obtained today. Driver was quite concerned about the massive damage done and how easily someone near the car at the time could have been hurt. Driver was also concerned about what her response would have been if she were driving down the road at the time of explosion. Driver is a grandma, she meets up with her daughter and granddaughter in very similar situations on a regular basis. The 7 year old granddaughter could have easily been in the blast radius. A complaint was filed with Honda to which they quickly denied any responsibility. A class action lawsuit was filed against Honda and won in 2012 regarding exploding a/c compressors in 2008 crvs. However Honda was absolved of any responsibility for said vehicles after 7 years or 100,000 miles. The crv in question has 120,000 miles.
