1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2017

Brakes became spongy. Honda dealer said the abs modulator seems to be failing. $1500-2000 without labor and it may not fix the problem. We believe there should be a recall on this. It is a continuing issue. Our crv is parked at this time.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2017

On June 23, 2017, at about 8:10 a. M. , I turned in to a dry cleaners store at 5702 everhard road, corpus christi, texas. As I was slowly turning into a parking space and applying my brakes, my 2008 Honda dr-v accelerated on it's own, at a speed so fast I could not stop it, even though I was applying the brakes as hard as I could. The Cr-v traveled about 20-25 feet and hit a pillar of the building head on. The Cr-v hit the pillar with such force that it rebounded back approximately 5 feet from the point of impact. The front of the car was crushed in and the driver's air bag inflated. The sudden, unexplained acceleration of the Cr-v on it's own caused the damage to the front end of the car. My foot was on the brakes the entire time and the Cr-v would not stop.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2016

2008 Honda Cr-v. Consumer writes in regards to brake and rotor corrosion due to non-use of vehicle because of airbag recall.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2016

Vehicle was in motion, brakes started to vibrate & upon taking it to the dealership was informed that the problem with the brakes is is a faulty abs module. This was after new brakes had been installed, new rotors, paid to have the brake system bled twice (about $700). To install a new abs module, the cost is $2,100 just for the part from Honda. The car is now dangerous to drive without the part. Honda dealership service shop foreman informed me this is a common occurrence on these cars. In addition, I received a letter that there is a takata airbag recall for this car in March, now it is April and those new parts have not been received by the dealer yet. I have a car sitting in my driveway that is not safe to drive now 1) it needs a $2100 part, which the service foreman tells me is not guaranteed to last because they are faulty; and 2) there is an airbag part that is not available at any dealership that I have checked; and 3) the factory alarm will not set, I have had it checked by two Honda dealerships and they do not know what is wrong with it. This car is not safe to drive.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2015

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that there were several failures that the dealer was notified of for months, but was unable to provide a permanent repair solution. The dealer completed a recall repair for the door actuator and, shortly after the repair, the alarm randomly sounded and locked the contact inside the vehicle. The dealer replaced the door actuator a second, time but the contact was uncertain if the part was actually replaced. The suspension was also unstable and caused the vehicle to wobble. In addition, the brake pedal felt spongy and was difficult to engage. The vehicle was taken to more than two dealers for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2012

At about 5mph, I turned into the curb to park my car, upon applying my brakes to stop, the car accelerated, that is when I realized I was on a sheet of ice. I was unable to stop the car. There was a parked car approximately 60-80 feet ahead of me, because I had no brakes, I swerved to the left to avoid hitting the parked car, and collided with an oncoming car headed in the same direction. My car then fishtailed and swiped the bumper of the parked car. There was no warning on the dashboard regarding the loss of the brakes, at anytime.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2011

Rear brakes needed replacing after just 16000 miles, and most of those were put on by an 80 year old lady, so not terribly intense driving. Code was b6 - brake service - replaced rear differential fluid and new brakes. It's unacceptable that brakes need to be replaced after 16000 miles.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2011

On March 23, 2011, I was involved in an mva in northern CA. I was traveling west on hwy. 80 on a downgrade. Traffic had come to a stop due to an accident. It had been snowing and I was traveling at 25 mph in second gear. My vehicle is a Honda 2008 crv with auto 4wd. I tapped my brake and there was no response. I tapped it again with no response. I applied steady pressure to the brake pedal with no response. The brakes were not working. They were not slowing or stopping the vehicle. I had to drive into the concrete divider to stop my car. There was major damage to the vehicle but fortunately, my passenger and I were able to walk away with minor injuries. I have already notified Honda and they have agreed to conduct an inspection of the vehicle when it is released from the body shop. They said there were no brake issues in their data base for my model of vehicle. I asked them if my incident would be reported to your office. They said "no, they did not report individual incidents such as mine until there were several reported to them". The number of incidents was not given to me. I find this strange. So I decided I would report this directly to you. My vehicle is scheduled for completion next week. Is there anything I can do to maintain the integrity of my vehicle prior to Honda conducting their "inspection". I know this may sound as though I do not trust that Honda will conduct their investigation with integrity. Perhaps 9if Toyota had been more forth coming with their problems, I would be more trusting. I do not want anyone else to experience what I did on that mountain slope or anywhere else for that matter. Your input will be greatly appreciated.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2010

I was in an accident where the car slid off the road in a snow storm. When the car hit the ditch I pushed on the brakes and the car kept moving. The vehicle continued to move about 50 feet before striking a tree. It never slowed down, no matter how hard I pressed the brake pedal. The vehicle is equipped with all wheel drive (awd). It appeared to me that the awd took over and continued to try to get the vehicle under control from the slide on the ice. I was driving about 20 to 25 mph at the time when I started to slide on ice. The passenger side wheels went into the ditch line, which was about 12 inches deep. I stepped on the brakes immediately after the wheels hit the ditch thinking it would slow the vehicle since the wheels were no longer on the icy road. As I said earlier, at that point I was pressing the brakes as hard as I could but the vehicle did not slow down. I suspect there is a conflict between the braking system and the awd when this situation occurs. It appears the awd software continues to gain stability, and prevents the brakes from stopping the wheels. I also read a notice from Honda that says when a situation like this occurs the anti-lock brakes are disabled and regular braking takes over.

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2009

Brake rotors need to be resurfaced at 11,000 miles of normal driving.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2008

Hi, we purchased a 2008 Honda crv in August, 2008. We have been reading complaints on the 2008 crv during winter (the same problems that I encountered last winter). It slides easily and the traction control doesn't work well during winter. It doesn't work well too when the vehicle is parked on a parking that slopes up with about 6 inches of snow. I was in a hurry to go to work but I got towed the first time when my 2008 crv was only 5 months old because it could not go forward when it was in the parking that slopes up even if I already plowed the snow. It could only reverse but didn't want to go forward. When I was towed the vehicle was checked by a Honda customer service in IL. They told me there is nothing wrong with my vehicle. I almost hit another vehicle a number of times during winter even if I drive slow which never happened on my old Hyundai. So, I tried to be very very slow on winter because I was really scared. I don't trust my crv during winter. The vehicle is not recommendable to buyers because of the problems during winter. Honda might be sued by complainants if something worse happens during accidents. My former boss loved the looks of my crv and planned to purchase the same but I said it is not recommendable because of the problems during winter. I relayed to her the problems that I had during winter. She was disappointed and decided to buy a Nissan. I don't want to recommend the 2008 model to somebody and later on will find out and experience the same and then blame me for recommending it to them. I am sorry about this but these are facts that Honda should know. I already reported this to them but as I said I was only told that nothing is wrong with the vehicle. I still believe that Honda should recall the 2008 models for the safety of everybody. I love my crv but not during winter. 2008 Honda crv owner.
