2009 Honda crv with 200,000+ miles. The brakes are spongy. Brought it to my mechanic because it is not in ideal driving condition. Checked brake pads and all that and couldn't figure it out. Upon investigation- the brake booster went bad. Replaced that at a ridiculous cost being that he had to take apart the steering column to get to the part. On my way home from picking it up, the brakes locked on me. Got it on a trailer to bring back to his house and the brakes were no longer locked up. Got it back. Brakes were ok for a little while. Took it through a car wash and as I was pulling out, the brakes were spongy again. Upon more investigation- other 2009 crvs have experienced this as well. I spent over $2000 figuring out the brakes and they still don't work as they should.
Brake pedal continues to be squishy, having to be pushed all the way down to the floor to stop, after having replaced the master cylinder and brake booster twice, flushing and replacing brake fluid, clearing air out of the brake line multiple times! dealer has no idea how to fix this. It’s defective brake system has been serviced multiple times by Honda dealer!.
To whom it may concern, I am a new Honda owner. Last night (5/15/18) I was driving on the highway going 60mph when my rear break just locked up automatic nearly causing a terrible collision. Immediately after, I pulled over at 10:30pm at night on the side of the road. After having a full diagnostic it was a revealed a break malfunction due to failed abs module causing all brakes to immediately lock up without warning or notice. This abs/vsa module assembly safety feature is the brain for the brakes and is vitally important to the over all function of the vehicle braking system. Out of pockets expensive for parts & labor by Honda dealership in hawaii is charging me $2,642. 63. I need an immediate reply back. Thank you.
2009 Honda Cr-v. Consumer writes in regards to rust build-up repairs on rotors due to consumer not driving vehicle while waiting for airbag recall replacement parts. Consumer states dealership should reimburse consumer for rotor repairs.
Going speed and car almost stutters, feels like looses power, rpm's raise when given gas but car will not increase speed, continues to slow down until vsa light comes on. On other occasions the car abrutly stops, feeling like the brakes lock up once again, until the vsa light comes on. I have read multi post from crv owners having this same issue as well as a post about a class act law suit already involving Honda for the vehicle stability alert system.
My wife's sister is the original owner of the car. She could no longer drive so we purchased the car from her in about June of 2015. It had 11,000 miles on it at the time. We noticed that the break pedal started going almost all the way to the floor and took it in for repair to frontier Honda in colorado where we lived at the time. This was repeated a number of times as the pedal continued to start going near the floor a short time after the repair attempt. They could not determine what was wrong and we ended up paying for the troubleshooting multiple times. We moved to ohio in June of 2018 and in October for 2018 we took it into matt castrucci's auto mall of dayton (Honda 937-434-4723) where again we had to pay for troubleshooting. It had 66,278 miles on it at the time. Each time we took it in the troubleshooting included a bleed of and inspection of the break system and each time the pedal would go back to normal range of motion. After a period of time, especially in cold weather, the pedal would go down closer to the floor. The latest time we took it in to matts Honda dealership they determined the anomaly is due to a defective part within the abs portion of the break system which would cost over $2000 to repair. Matt called and mentioned that he was informed that some cars got equipped with the defective part. After matt checked with his regional representative he called to inform us that Honda will not take care of the problem due to the age of the vehicle. If it had less miles on it they would but at some time the owner needs to take responsibility of the repairs. The pedal would start going near the floor after the car sat un-driven especially when cold out. The car is still not repaired. The break pedal is still going almost to where it is touching the floor, and my wife will be in danger because of the defective part.
I applied my brakes approaching a stop sign at low speed. My brake pedal went to the floor and I had almost no brakes. I kept my foot on it and when it got as far as I could push it my engine accelerated at very high rpms. I shifted into neutral and then into park and shut the engine off. I had a tow truck come and pick it up.
Exiting the small to moderate sized parking lot I was stopped at the red light. This is a t intersection where one must turn right or left. After the light turned green I slowly accelerated to turn left when the car accelerated immediately to about 50 mph while I was entering the intersection, I managed to to turn left. Despite vigorously braking, the car continued at what seemed like an incredible speed, it felt like an accelerating race car. I hit a truck and another car sideswiping them as I tried to swerve out of the way of traffic and parked cars. The car travelled approximately 1/5 of a mile before I was able to stop by putting the vehicle in park. The air bags deployed.
I was trying to park my car backwards. My car suddenly accelerated and I couldn't control the spead of my car. I was also unable to stop my car.
2009 Honda crv. Consumer states problem with vsa system the consumer stated the dealer replaced the brake switch and vsa modulator. However, the light illuminated again. The dealer stated the problem was due to the type of gas the consumer was putting in the vehicle.
