Takata recall, not issued for my vehicle passenger side airbag per Honda motor corp, Honda has refused to replace my airbag at this time. Honda motor company has provided information that my passenger side air bag was made by takata corp. As of this posting Honda informed me that the NHTSA has not issued a recall for my vehicles VIN number. Honda knows the takata air bags are defective but will not replace my passenger side airbag which was made by takata corp, because the NHTSA has not issued a recall for my VIN number of my vehicle. It took Honda over 2 weeks and a call to their corporate office to find out who the manufacturer was of my passenger side airbag, and they said it was takata, but the NHTSA has not issued a recall for my vehicle. Now, the dealer could not tell me who manufactured the airbag nor could the 800 customer service number at Honda, it took a phone call to corporate to find out, and yet the NHTSA has not issued a recall for my vehicles passenger side air bag based on VIN number. I guess they will wait until somone gets hurt, and then issue a recall.
Takata recall: Honda USA insists that a driver continues to drive a car without fixing a passenger-side air bag once a driver-side air bag is replaced. I have to drive with my family in my car time to time. Honda must provide a rental car for customers until the passenger airbag is fixed. I called the Honda USA three times; their case manage never called me back since last week.
Takata airbags - since the recall was announced and the first letter received, November- December 2015, the date upon which the parts would be available to replace the airbags has continued to be pushed back. It is now August 2016 and my daughter, who drives the car, leaves for college in 8 days, and she will be driving her car. Meanwhile another letter arrives last week saying that the passenger side airbag is also recalled in addition to the driver's side. Why a company such as Honda would have hid this knowledge from the very first recall is appalling, my daughter is not eligible for the rental car they are offering because she is not yet 21. Again, she leaves in 8 days for her first year of college. Initially, I used the Honda website to enter the cars information and very the recall. I provided a place to click and choose a dealership to replace the parts. Only problem is the even though it let you choose a dealership, it did not share with the dealership the cars info so that the parts could be ordered. I suppose this should not matter since the company can not repair the airbags and leaves my daughters life in danger. Et, their Honda website was not as efficient as they would like it to seem.
Takata recall--I first received the front airbag recall in April 2016 and immediately put my car on the wait list at dch Honda to get replaced. I got a second recall notice for the passenger side airbag on July 22. We are a family of four with two large carseats and my crv almost always has a passenger. An adult is not able to sit in-between the car seats in the back. I was told by the dealership that the parts were still not available and that the wait list for both airbags is months long. I requested a rental car and the next day, miraculously there is a part for the front air bag. They told us we could no longer receive a rental for just the passenger airbag. I guess the passenger's life is not as important as the driver? when I put my VIN in the recall website, even today it says "remedy not yet available. " I am concerned that the part that they put is in really intended for a 2010 Honda crv and not for another car just so they don't have to pay for the rental. Why were we not told yesterday when we called to confirm information about the rental that the part was in? our appointment was first thing in the morning, so is it really possible (after being told about the long wait list and the parts were not in just the other day) that the part we needed came in right before we picked up the rental? just because the receipt says it is the part, I feel uneasy that it is the legit replacement (part number 04770-swa-405). I also feel that it is a safety concern that the recall notice for the passenger airbag (NHTSA recall 16v-346) states "Honda suggests that you avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger's seat until the recall repair has been performed," yet we have no choice but to sit someone in that seat when we need to drive anywhere.
Takata recall: upon returning to our local Honda dealer to retrieve our Cr-v on 6/17/2016 after having the recalled driver's side airbag replaced, we learned the passenger side airbag is also defective. Despite being aware of the issue, Honda is presently refusing to service the vehicles or to provide rental or loaner vehicles; instead, they are simply advising individuals not to sit in the front-passenger seat until they can fix it (months from now). This is completely and horribly unacceptable; the defective airbags have already resulted in numerous fatalities and Honda is exercising willful negligence in sending these vehicles back out on the road. These are family vehicles, and are marketed as such; without use of a front-passenger seat the cars become slightly classier regular cab pickup trucks. Moreover, the owner's manual cites in multiple locations potential problems which could undermine the sensitivity of the pressure monitors which are to monitor the presence of a passenger in the passenger seat, meaning that all passengers and the driver of the vehicle are still in danger of flying metal shrapnel decapitating them in an accident. Honda's position (as stated both at autonation 385 in memphis, TN and via there customer service complaint center at (888)-234-2138) is that they can do nothing, and that no one should sit near that airbag. Living in the south, my family is precisely in the middle of the zone in which this defect is expected to be most likely; Honda's position is indefensible and deserves immediate attention and response from the NHTSA.
The contact owns a 2010 Honda Cr-v. While pulling out of a parking space, the front driver side air bag deployed without warning or impact. There were no injuries reported. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but it was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact also received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v061000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Takata recall- I received my first notice in early April, April 8th called my local dealership and was basically told that the recall was nonsense and there was no reason to worry about anything and they would have parts in 2-3 wks. April 19th called corporate with concerns after talking to dealership. I received an additional recall for the passenger side airbags now are included in the recall. I now have a 2 wk old baby, a 2 yr old, and a vehicle that I am still paying for that I am not comfortable safely putting myself or my family in and no repair dates in the near future. The 2nd recall has the same timeline of summer/fall, I understand this is a huge recall and the number of deaths compared to the number of effected vehicles "isn't that great" but all it takes is 1 accident to destroy my family.
Takata airbag recall - I have been waiting since 3/21/16 for my drivers side air bag to be replaced in my 2010 Honda crv. Please ask Honda to order an air bag, and expedite it , and express mail it to ralph Honda in rochester NY, so ralph Honda can replace my drivers side airbag ASAP. Thank you. Don bowen.
Takata recall. Have been checking VIN for months and finally my search indicated that I should call dealership for replacement of driver side airbag. When I called, customer care person said no parts available and I should be careful driving. This is ludicrous! I can't control others driving. Retired, would like to travel! want it fixed!.
