While driving on the interstate, the steering wheel and brake pedal both locked up, so I was unable to control the car in any way. After the vehicle drifted across several lanes, it hydroplaned, spinning several times. At no point did any of the vehicle's many automated stability features activate, including abs. Had I collided with another vehicle I likely would not have survived. I was lucky instead to wreck in a ditch, at which point the vehicle returned control of the wheel and brakes, but still the abs did not seem to activate. Further, the side airbags deployed a second or two late, after the car was already uprighting from having rolled on its side. I suspect this scenario might be explained by a defect in how the software responds to sensor readings of slick road conditions.
