36 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2025

Fuel injectors are bad. $2300 at the dealership to fix it. Mine went out in my driveway so I guess I’m lucky. There are a ton of these on the road and many are having this exact problem.

37 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2025

2017 Honda crv 54290 miles now fuel injector need replacement. It cost all warning light on. Make not safe to drive.

38 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2025

With 82,300 miles on the odometer, my 2017 Honda crv touring awd started misfiring and displayed a check engine light for a p0301 cylinder 1 misfire detected. All 4 injectors had failed displaying cylinder 1-4 as fail(rich) under the dealership diagnostic. This left me with a $2,000 repair bill at the Honda dealership. “diagnose customer concern: checked car. Confirmed complaint. Dtc p0301 cylinder 1 misfire stored. Performed af terst and found all 4 cylinders running rich. Recommend replacing injectors the analysis of the various functions of the components of a vehicle to determine if they are operating properly or have recorded faults which need to be corrected. ” Honda refuses to reimburse me or even a partial reimbursement for something that should be recalled on this vehicles as being way too common on a daily basis.

39 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2024

I replaced fuel injectors in my 2017 Honda crv in September 2024 at northtown Honda in buffalo, NY. In November 2024 my girlfriend was driving the vehicle in michigan and the car slowed down to below 20 mph on the highway and flashed all dashboard warning lights, what Honda refers to as "limp mode". This almost caused her get hit by a semi truck. The car was towed to Honda of grand blanc and I was told it needs a new turbo. The turbo was replaced and then in December 2024 the car again broke down while I was visiting toronto, canada. I had to pay for a tow back to northtown Honda where I was informed that the vehicle needs a new engine and turbo. I have taken very good care of my vehicle, always done proper maintenance and oil changes. This model is known for some oil dilution problems and I was never informed of that from northtown Honda where I regularly maintenance my vehicle. The car is currently at northtown Honda as they told me the bill is around $12k and I can't afford to pay that.

40 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2024

Fuel injector failure in traffic resulting in head gasket rupture and complete engine failure.

41 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2024

I have repeatedly had to bring my car into the shop (6 times now, only owned it for 5 months) to have the spark plugs and/or fuel injectors replaced multiple times. The car will suddenly start shuddering when trying to accelerate over 2 rpm. It has also stalled twice (while accelerating it slowed down to a stop in the middle of the road) and the engine light will flash. Mechanics have noted misfires in the engine and that the plugs/injector are getting clogged and dirty very quickly. I don't know much about vehicles, but I know I should not have to be replacing the spark plugs and fuel injectors 2-3 times in 5 months of ownership as I've never had to replace them in previous Honda vehicles that were owned for 5+ years.

42 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2024

Check engine light came on. Smelled fuel . Brought to dealer and found out top of fuel pump was cracked. There's a recall for the same issue on 23-25 vehicles. Want recall extended to receive a refund for repairs.

43 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2024

The engine is not receiving any fuel to start and idle car.

44 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2024

For the 3rd time in 18 months my car has just stopped accelerating on the freeway and all of my sensors go off at once, my touch screen and speakers go on and off repeatedly. Honda here in reno, nv keeps replacing my fuel injectors (and making me pay for it) which seems to resolve it for a short while and then it all happens again. This is incredibly unsafe for this car to just stop accelerating at 60 mph… I drive m ya on in this car. Please look into this there are so so many people having this same exact problem with the same car and same year! just google “2017 Honda crv all sensors not accelerating” and “2017 Honda crv fuel injector problems” please please help.

45 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2024

After filling up the car with gas the cabin smells like gasoline for the first 25 miles then goes away. We are not topping off the gas and it is a strong noxus odor. The car was taken in once when it was new for this issue it went away temporarily but came back now that the car is out of warranty.

46 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2024

After driving for a few miles, the engine stall / studders while driving. Speed limited to 9 mph. Issue is intermittent. It has happened 6 times in one evening causing us to have to pull over to the edge of the freeway. The car is not currently doing this but the symptoms are the same as described in “safety recall: 2018–20 Cr-v fuel pump motor”.

47 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2024

The fuel injectors failed on September 30th. Sitting in a parking lot when all of the warning lights on the dashboard started coming on. We immediately called the dealership and got the car in the next day. They thought it might be the battery. No prior problems. Dealership called and said it was the fuel injectors. Dealership said it was a known issue on 2017-18 crvs. Google search confirmed many crv owners withe same issue. Contacted Honda America to ask for compensation since this appeared to be a known issue. They did agree to pay for half of the $1,400 repair. They recommended contacting NHTSA to report the issue as well. We had 91,691 miles on this vehicle at that time.

48 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2024

Numerous times over the life of the car all dash warning systems and lights activate while you are driving. Sometimes they persist after restarting engine. Numerous visits to dealer to address and finally they stated that fuel injectors need replaced. Searching this issue online seems to indicate this is a common event with 2017-18 crvs like mine. I contacted Honda and they stated that there is no recall or warranty extension for an issue like this. The car is not safe to drive with all the alarms staying active. This started taking place in 2018 with only 30k miles and would happen rarely. But started to happen monthly in 2024 until I replaced the fuel injectors last September.

49 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2024

My 2017 Honda crv has been diagnosed as needing replacement of its fuel injectors. When this problem is detected by its onboard computer system, all warning lights illuminate on dashboard display (even though they are unrelated), and all the adas safety features are disabled until the system can be reset - these include blind spot detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, etc. Because the car was otherwise driving fine, I explored other possible reasons for what seemed to be an issue with the electronics, such as a faulty battery. Eventually, it became apparent there was a fuel injection problem when the car went into what others have referred to as 'limp mode,' which means that it struggles to accelerate to even 5-10 mph at best. Thankfully, the two times this happened before I was able to take it to the dealership were both on residential streets without traffic. If this had occurred on an interstate or while turning left, the results could have been tragic. After some basic internet searches, it became readily apparent that hundreds of others across the country are dealing with the same identical issues I've described. Some individuals are encountering this issue when the car is only at 50-60k miles, which indicates it is not a matter of typical wear and tear. Yet, for some reason, Honda is not acknowledging this problem. This is especially disappointing and confusing seeing that Honda has either recalled or extended warranties on fuel injectors for multiple other models built during the mid-to-late 2010s (pilot, odyssey, ridgeline, and fit). I would greatly appreciate the NHTSA's assistance in ensuring that people like me do not have to pay for a very costly repair that is clearly due to a systemically faulty part, but more importantly hope that no one is involved in an accident when their safety features are disabled and/or the car goes into 'limp mode' while in an vulnerable highway or intersection situation.

50 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2024

In June 2024 the first warning that appeared was an emissions warnings. The vehicle seemed to be running fine despite the warning. After the warning was cleared, the vehicle continued to run well. At the beginning of August the vehicle experienced multiple system failures, indicated by error messages in 11 different systems, including the check engine light. The affected systems were tire pressure monitoring, brake system, electronic power steering, vehicle stability assist, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, electric parking brake, emissions system, brake hold system, hill start assist, and collision mitigation system. When these errors were displayed, critical safety systems in the vehicle were rendered inoperable, posing a significant risk while driving. An emissions system issue should not have caused multiple safety systems to be disabled. After the errors occurred, the vehicle was taken to a dealership for inspection. The dealer identified that the emissions system was running too rich, causing the fuel injectors to become soiled, leading to engine misfires and reduced power/fuel economy. The dealership reported the issue as “dtc p0303 no3 cylinder misfire, p0172 fuel system (b1) too rich. ” no other system faults were detected despite the earlier errors. I will get the new fuel injectors installed as soon as I can afford it. Unfortunately this issue is well-documented online as a common problem with the gen5 Honda Cr-v, with many owners reporting similar experiences. Despite widespread complaints, Honda has not acknowledged a potential manufacturing defect in the fuel system and has not issued a recall.

51 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2024

The vehicle experienced multiple system failures, indicated by error messages in 11 different systems, including the check engine light. The affected systems were tire pressure monitoring, brake system, electronic power steering, vehicle stability assist, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, electric parking brake, emissions system, brake hold system, hill start assist, and collision mitigation system. After the errors occurred, the vehicle was taken to a dealership for inspection. The dealer identified that the emissions system was running too rich, causing the fuel injectors to become soiled, leading to engine misfires and reduced power/fuel economy. The dealership replaced the fuel injectors, documenting the issue as “dtc p0303 no3 cylinder misfire, p0172 fuel system (b1) too rich. ” no other system faults were detected despite the earlier errors. There has been no inspection by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives at this time. The components are available for inspection upon request. There were no pre-warning lamps, messages, or symptoms before the failure, suggesting the underlying problem may have been developing over a long period without detection. When these errors were displayed, critical safety systems in the vehicle were rendered inoperable, posing a significant risk to my safety and others on the road. An emissions system issue should not have caused multiple safety systems to be disabled, as this could potentially lead to a crash or other hazardous situations. This issue is well-documented online as a common problem with the gen5 Honda Cr-v, with many owners reporting similar experiences. Despite widespread complaints, Honda has not taken corrective action, such as issuing a software update to prevent safety system failures or acknowledging a potential manufacturing defect in the fuel system. This problem is leading to premature and frequent fuel injector replacements, as seen in my vehicle, which has under 65k miles.

52 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2024

All vehicle alerts came on, vehicle randomly started braking hard while driving. We brought it to the dealership, told it needs all new fuel injectors and a vsa module. Vsa module is on backorder, no timeline for a new one. Told vehicle is unsafe to drive without vsa module.

53 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2024

The vehicle experienced multiple system failures, indicated by error messages in 11 different systems, including the check engine light. The affected systems were tire pressure monitoring, brake system, electronic power steering, vehicle stability assist, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, electric parking brake, emissions system, brake hold system, hill start assist, and collision mitigation system. The vehicle was checked with a code scanner. The codes retrieved were “dtc 0300 random misfire, dtc p0301 no1 cylinder misfire, p0172 fuel system (b1) too rich and dtc p0304 no4 cylinder misfire” no other system faults were detected despite the earlier errors. The direct injection fuel injectors and engine design seem to be the probable cause. There has been no inspection by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives at this time. The vehicle and components are available for inspection upon request. Despite widespread complaints, Honda has not taken corrective action, such as issuing a software update to prevent safety system failures or acknowledging a potential manufacturing defect in the fuel system and fuel injectors. This problem is leading to premature and frequent fuel injector replacements. This can also increase potential safety hazards along with risks for injury or death.

54 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2024

On April 27 suddenly, without prior warning or indication, all dashboard warning lights and all system alerts went off simultaneously. My Honda dealer confirmed today the issue is the fuel injectors. All 4 injectors failed the fuel ratio test. They quoted $2,000 to fix. I negotiated the price down to $1700 as I am just 4k miles out of manufacturer warranty. This injector issue disables key safety features of the Cr-v's when it occurs. An injector issue should not cause safety features of the Cr-v to stop working (ex. Adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, tps, hill start assist, braking, etc. . . ).

55 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2024

All the following safety systems were getting failed lights on vehicle: - adaptive cruise control? - collision mitigation? - road departure mitigation? - vehicle stability assist? - hill start assist? - electric parking brake? - tire pressure monitoring. We were replacing the battery thinking it was a battery issue as it was diagnosed prior. Took it to dealer and they confirmed fuel injectors had failed and needed to be replaced at 81k miles.

56 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2024

Subject: urgent complaint regarding Honda crv fuel injector issue dear national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) team, I am writing to urgently report a safety concern regarding my Honda crv, and to request a recall and replacement of the fuel injector system. Recently, my Honda crv experienced a series of warning lights illuminated on the dashboard display. Upon diagnostic examination at an authorized Honda dealership, it was determined that the issue stems from a malfunctioning fuel injector. Prior to this diagnosis, my vehicle was involved in two alarming incidents where its speed became uncontrollable, despite my efforts to apply the accelerator pedal. The first incident fortunately did not result in an accident due to sparse traffic conditions. However, during the second incident, the vehicle behind me was forced to perform an emergency brake maneuver, narrowly averting a potentially catastrophic collision. These incidents highlight a critical safety hazard that poses a significant risk to both myself and other road users. As a concerned member of the community, I strongly urge NHTSA to initiate a recall of all affected Honda crv vehicles and implement a comprehensive replacement program for the fuel injector system. Addressing this issue promptly is crucial to preventing future accidents and ensuring the safety of drivers and passengers. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I eagerly await your swift action and resolution of this pressing concern. Sincerely, one of the crv owners.

57 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2024

Driving on the highway at 65-70 mph from buffalo on the day of the eclipse - so there was heavy traffic. Engine started to run rough, then the warning system showed almost all of the errors on the dash, including tpm, collision avoidance, lane alert, etc. Then the car could only go about 25 mph, so had to pull off to the side (luckily) and turned off car to restart since that has worked before. This time it did not work, so had to drive about 1 mile to next exit on the side of the road and call for a tow from erie to pittsburgh. This has happened before when trying to accelerate from an ramp to the highway.

58 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2024

The fuel injectors are the issue with this Honda. When driving with these injectors and they go bad the vehicles braking system, lane assist, and vehicle stability goes out. I have had my vehicle serviced (no injectors available to fix issue at this moment) by a Honda dealership since every warning and check engine light was on. Honda is aware of this issue but fails to recall the injectors. No repair invoice yet however it is a $2,500 fix when the parts are available from backorder.

59 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2024

I was driving my Honda crv 2017 on I-65 in birmingham - montgomery area in alabama in March 2024 and suddenly in the middle of the busy highway the vehicle stalled and wouldn’t drive even after stepping on the accelerator a little harder. I then turned on my emergency lights to signal to the behind vehicles that I have and emergency situation became I was in the middle of a busy highway and the vehicle simply wouldn’t drive. I managed to pull aside of the highway and turned the engine off because I didn’t know what the issue was. After a few minutes I started the vehicle again and drove a few miles and the vehicle stalled again. After a couple of repeated cycle, I got the vehicle to a nearby Honda dealership for diagnostic testing which later revealed that the fuel injectors, the head gasket, the turbo system etc were causing the vehicle to stall. The vehicle is currently not drivable and has since been with the Honda dealership as I am writing. With taxes, the dealership is charging me approximately $5000 usd to fix this problem, money that I cannot afford. Not knowing what to do, I did a brief research to see if anyone else has experienced this issue before and I found out in the consumer report that other drivers have actually experienced exactly the same issue that happened to my vehicle. I currently do not have any additional vehicle for commuting and I am forced to use rented vehicles with the rental cost accumulating on the daily basis while my vehicle remains with the dealership. I am therefore writing this notification for Honda to look into this potentially risk safety incidence and help Honda crv owners and myself get this problem fixed because such experience doesn’t boost consumer confidence for both current and future Honda crv owners. Thanks.

60 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2024

All warning lights turned on and vehicle lost power/dropped speed to virtually 10 mph. This is a fuel injection issue and is widespread safety problem with the Honda crv. A girl recently had this issue and was rear-ended. . Read more...

61 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2024

All of my warning lights are on. The above checklist only lets me pick 3 items total but every warning light is on. Brake hold system, power steering, hill start assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, road departure, electric parking brake, tpm, emission system problem, all wheel drive system. My car has went from driving 70mph on the highway to suddenly going to 10-20 mph! super dangerous and this has happened 2 times. First time in March 24’ and again may 24’. The reset resolved it briefly but it returned again and again. Now all lights are on and it scares me to drive on the interstate because I don’t know when it will happen again. My safety features do not work on my car when the lights are on. I have had the codes checked and reset 2 times. Codes p0172 & p0303 were a couple codes it shows.

62 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2024

I recently visited Honda dealership ( Honda of chantilly, chantilly, va - 20151). I would like to report the findings for further guidance. All warning signs on my 2017 Honda crv turning on while driving on the high way. These signs come and go often. So, I took the SUV to the dealership for the diagnosis. Dealer found the issue and the diagnosis code was p0172 (fuel system too rich). Later I figured that this code is reported under recall/extended service with clear detail ( Honda service bulletin 19-037). I reported the findings with doc to the Honda manufacturer and dealer but their response was that my VIN is not impacted. So, they denied to fix the issue. However, my car has the same issue with diagnostic code which was performed by dealer.

63 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2024

All warning lights have been illuminated for several months. On occassion will turn off, but only for 1-2 days then back on again for another few weeks. After on-line research learned this is a very common problem for this make/model/year that Honda is not acknowledging as an issue. Honda dealer service technician diagnosed what I already knew that car needs new fuel injectors. Most safety features and cruise control do not function as a result. Parts are on backorder.

64 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2024

While driving on the highway, the car abrutly slowed down to 25 mph and all of the lights on the dash lit up. Fortunately, I was able to pull over to the side of the highway and avoid an accident. Upon taking the car to the dealership, they stated that the car required new fuel injectors. Prior to this incident, there were no indications of any issues with the car.

65 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2024

My car had been rough on the steering wheel and eventually started to stall but still had a quarter of a tank of gas. It marked at a quarter of a tank but stalled in the middle of the freeway going 65+ mph and caused me to go from 65 to 0 in a matter of seconds. All my lights came on, on my dash and the car would not run. Went to get gas and car took a while to run again, this is the second time it happens and I didn’t even get a warning light for gas, there was that much still left in it. Apparently no recalls are associated with this VIN but this has happened twice in a month and it runs through gas very quickly.

66 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2024

While driving the car it began to spit and sputter and lost power to the point I had to pull out of traffic to the shoulder, stop, and turn hazard lights on. While there I turned the car off and restarted it. I began to enter back into traffic, got to about 10-15 mph and all of a sudden the car ran choppy and every light came on the dash displaying a problem with every function of the car. My husband works about a mile from where I was so I drove from where it happened to his workplace. From there the phone calls began to obtain a tow to the dealership. Diagnostic results said head gasket was leaking and coolant was fouling the spark plugs. Dealer quoted $5700 for repairs. (25 hours of labor). Around 86,000 miles (10 weeks ago) the same dealership replaced fuel injectors and spark plugs for $1700. Now the 2017 car is just under 90,000 miles.

67 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2024

Fuel pump failure caused an engine stall while driving twice.

68 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2024

When the car was around 60k miles, all the warning lights started appearing. I took it to repair shop and they did some testing and cannot find any issues. The warning lights stopped for two weeks and all warning lights showed up. Initially they changed a spark plug. The warning lights stopped for another week and reappeared . This time I was told all fuel injector need to be changed. Honda has recall on almost all vehicles except my crv. There were no parts in any dealership. I had no choice but to change all fuel injectors which cost me $1600. Since this particular part is defective in almost all Honda vehicles, I should get this repaired at no charge. It is the same type of fuel injectors in all vehicles, I think Honda should expand recall to crv too. I called Honda. They told me that there is no recall for crv. But I saw many crv owners with the same issue.

69 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2024

For about six months my service lights have been lighting up. For the same amount of time I have noticed that my car begins to "stink" after running for a minute or two. I took it into the dealership and the service advisor states that I have three of four fuel injectors that have failed. I asked the service advisor about the warranty and she states those are not under warranty. I have researched this issue and have found that many many people have had problems with their fuel injectors and Honda will not replace them under warranty. I am sending this complaint because I feel that this issue should be covered under a recall warranty, since it has been noted in other models that the fuel injectors were recalled and repaired. Please help.

70 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2023

I own a 2017 Honda crv ex awd. While driving downhill on a mountain road on Dec. 9, 2023, all of my dashboard warning lights and alarms began flashing and sounding off. Some of the warnings cycled through one after another while others were simultaneous. I continued to drive looking for a safe place to pull over. Going downhill I was able to maintain some speed, but when the road leveled off I found I was unable to accelerate to more than 5-10 miles per hour despite the engine continuing to rev. After pulling over, I stopped the engine for 10 minutes. Upon restarting, the dashboard warnings repeated the same process. At first opportunity, I took the car to a Honda dealership where code dtc p0304 was diagnosed and I was advised that the problem was failure of my fuel injectors. Repairs were made at a cost of more than $2000. Fortunately, this failure did not happen to me on a crowded freeway going at higher speeds as it could have easily created a situation where property damage, injuries, or fatalities could have occurred.
