Tl the contact owns a 2018 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving up hill at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle decelerated and stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to thelen Honda (1020 n. Euclid Ave, bay city, mi 48706, (989) 402-0532) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the turbo needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. The VIN was not available.
When I star the car and drive the yellow warning light stay on and the red light blink and not go off. All warning light. (tps, collision mitigation problem, emisin syst. Problem, electric brake problem, etc. ). Aslo this happen already 4 times before. Couple times I use my brakes when I was drive and I felt that the car no stop righ at time and almost hit the other car. Also I change my motor oil and the old one is mix with gasoline and is more volume that I put in. Also some time when I drive the car star to stalling.
While driving a short distance, driving slow as I was in my subdivision my vehicle started jerking, it felt like it was going to stall, the engine light came on and started flashing repeatedly. I noticed a bad odor. I was only a minute or so from home and driving slowly, maybe 10 or 15 mph. The sputtering, jerking and flashing engine light continued the rest of the way home. I got half way up my driveway and it felt like it was stalling so I stopped and shut vehicle off. A strong burning smell continued and I noticed smoke coming out of the passenger side exhaust pipe.
Entered the vehicle and began to drive. The problem lights all appeared as driving: steering, tire pressure, emergency brake, engine. The car stalled as driving and steering was made difficult, did the der der der noises. I felt endangered with my children and puppy in the vehicle.
About a month ago, I was parking my crv and all of my dashboard warning lights came on. My cruise. Lane keep assist other features are completely disabled when this happens. My dealership states I need fuel injectors. I have done research on this problem, and Honda is very aware of this fuel injector problem. They actually put an extended warranty in place on the powertrain to remedy this . Unfortunately the powertrain warranty does not cover fuel injectors. On one occasion. Nov. 3 2020, my car stalled while going 70 miles per hour on the highway. Afterwards I smelled a strong fuel smell in my car. I have smelled this odor several times, however Honda says this is not a safety issue. I bought the car Jan. 2020. It had 89k miles on it. I did not think this new car would need an extended warranty. So Honda wants over $1100 to put fuel injectors in. I have read online about the many issues with the 2017 and 2018 crvs. The dream motor is a problem and Honda knows it. I guess it will take someone dying before anyone will pay me any attention. Honda says this is not a safety problem therefore I am assuming it is safe to drive, as I have to have my car. I am a nurse and travel on my job. I have no cruise, lane keep assist, lane stability or any of those features. I dont know how this car will pass inspection like this. Please help me. Google problems with 2018 crv. . . . . . Honda knows all about it. I have already filed a complaint with them. Please advise if seeking legal counsel will be beneficial to me. Thank you.
This the third incident, where I was driving the vehicle and the car lost power, stalled, shut down, and all the sensors on the vehicle went off. The vacaville Honda dealership on the second time refuse to document my issue or look at the battery without me paying for a service. I brought the car in for service. I feel really unsafe in this vehicle and vacaville Honda has a history of not documenting my concerns. The vehicle was in motion and I came to a stop sign where I turned right and noticed the car was not moving when I pressed the gas. The car turned off and then turned on and all the sensors came on. I was able to get the car rolling by going down hill going about 2 mph, even though the speedometer said 16 mph. There was not way I was going at that speed. I had to have the car towed locally to another Honda where I lived and they were unable to tell me why all the sensors went off.
While driving at a slow speed in a parking lot vehicle misfired and all electrical components became nonfunctional. Lost some control of the vehicle. Parked car immediately and car started to rev itself while in park without pushing the pedal. All system alert indicators came on indicating issues with multiple electrical & engine components. Turned car off for a minute. Turned car back on and all indicator lights remained. Called local Honda dealership immediately and had towed to dealership. Honda dealership indicated that they noticed misfires as well when testing and car was not performing well. Dealership indicated the following in diagnostic report: "found engine oil to be over filled. Code p0300 randam misfire. There was gas in the fuel - performed oil change and updated the pgm - fi system" after conducting research we found that this is a known issue with Honda crv 2018 models, but there is not an official recall. It is a known issue by Honda that gas gets in to the oil panel and dilutes the oil with gas. This is both a safety and mechanical issue that needs fixed. This is a safety issue as had our car misfired at higher speed this could have easily caused an accident with the amount of lost control of the vehicle. This will also assuredly effect the life of the vehicles engine as oil is diluted by gas. The dealership was not forthcoming with information regarding this known issue by Honda of gas getting into the oil tank and causing stalling and misfires issues just as what happened to us. It was not until we told them we found information on it ourselves did they recognize it. We were informed by the dealership that our particular VIN had already had the update and fix that was suggested by Honda for this issue. If that is the case, then it did not remedy our vehicle, and this is still a safety issue Honda needs to rectify with its customers.
Stalling while I was traveling in traffic. Oil dip stick smells like gasoline is "overfull" on oil mark.
2018 Honda crv mileage 20,165. Upon accelerating while pulling the car on main roadway, the car dropped from 50mph to 25mph and then wouldn't reach past 35mph, the engine light appeared and started to blink. Pushing the gas pedal only aggravated the situation. About a mile later the car stopped/stalled trying to go up a hill. I turned off car, waited 10 min and restarted. Was able to go another 1 mile to home, I did not attempt to go over 25 mph, because engine light was still blinking. The next morning, I drove the car to the dealer, but made sure I did not go over 30mph, as I did not want it to stall. During the drive the engine light was still blinking. Waiting to hear back. From the dealer. I believe this is a powertrain issue that has been documented by Honda and all 2017/2018 crvs have been recalled in china and europe, but not the us.
Afraid this car will catch on fire! engine oil is getting diluted with fuel due to the turbo engines on the 2017 -2018 Honda crvs. I notified stevenson hendrick Honda in December 2018 of a fuel smell in cabin of car while driving and an mil (malfunction error came up & all safety features were disabled until I cut car off at next stop and restarted. Dealership checked the car on 12/24/18 and said nothing was wrong. Contacted dealership again due to fuel smell in cabin & we had checked oil & the dipstick reaked of fuel & was way over the high mark. Took car on 8/10/19 and I made service manager tony check oil in front of me to verify fuel was in it. They said they changed computer module and did some updates to fix & told me to bring it back on 8/1/717 at 8;00 for install of spark plugs they ordered. Drove 40 miles back home and fuel was already in the oil again! called dealership back to let them know I want the oil/oil filter changed again on 8/17/19 when they do spark plugs and that we will continue to check oil in car. I contacted Honda as well & spoke to "cat". She wasn't helpful at all and refused to tell me why the software update notice they sent didn't say anything about fuel dilution in the oil. It only referred to error codes & whirling noise in engine. The dealership said this problem has only been happening in "cold weather regions" and that I am the first they have heard of. I told them that if people don't check their oil or if the dealership doesn't tell the consumer when they change their oil that they wouldn't know they had a problem since it has not been disclosed to the consumers. This car scares me me & I'm afraid my engine will catch on fire from this issue!.
I was driving Saturday 27, 2019 about 9:00 am in the pulaski skyway in new jersey then all of the sudden all the display warning lights went on and off until the car stall and the engine just stop working but the warning lights( every single one) just kept going on and off. I couldn't do anything as you may know the pulaski skyway has not place to pull over, you can imagine the traffic jam that my broke down car cause. The weekend of the 07/21/2019 I had a strong smell of gasoline in the cabin and when I check the oil dipstick it was overfill and had the strong smell of gasoline I called the dealer planet Honda and they told me to bring my car to check on 07/25/2019, the same day the dealer called me and said that is nothing wrong with the car and the smell of gasoline and the overfill engine oil was normal. I have no confidence on driving my Honda crv anymore. I bought the car on 06/15/2019 with 5,300 miles on it.
The engine oil level increases as the car is driven. Changed oil after 7500 mile interval, and the used oil was 1. 2 quarts more than when first installed. Oil is being diluted.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Honda Cr-v. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled and the tire pressure warning indicator illuminated. The contact pulled over and had the vehicle towed to hendrick Honda woodbridge (14201 jefferson davis hwy, woodbridge, va 22191, (703) 496-4751). The dealer changed the oil, but the failure recurred. The failure occurred intermittently. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 66,000.
Fuel in the oil, slow warmup and stalling.
Car temperature gauge was not heating up properly. In cold weather when ideling would not move from cold position, therefore produce no heat. When driving it at 35miles an hour gauge would go up some ,and when slowing to 25 miles gauge would drop back down to cold, with no heat. Car would also stall after it was started and left in park when I would get in to put it in drive. This would all happen during cold weather. Honda did the recall because they found the gas and oil mixture problem. Did an oil change and did the recall update on control panel and software. Got the car back and it is still having the same problem with the temperature gauge dropping down to cold and loss of heat, when driving short trips. Honda said they could not figure out how to fix it.
The car began stalling and would not drive over 10 mph. Smelled terribly and all warning lights went off. Only 2,768 miles.
Observed high engine oil level; almost an inch over the high level mark on dipstick with gas odor. Honda advised to get it checked out at the dealer. Took it to dealer on 2/4/19 at 21152 miles. They found oil level high with gas smell. But did not do anything saying that Honda is working on a software update. There is a software update issued by Honda as service bulletin 18-114. But mine does not qualify for any update. Honda case manager advised to take it back if stalls or engine light comes on. I am concerned about engine lubrication problems and thereby reduced life of engine and possible emission problems down the road once warranty expires. Concerned danger of vehicle stalling in the middle of traffic as well. On cold start engine vibration feels at the steering. Takes time for the engine to heat up.
1/8/2019 - smelled sulfur from exhaust. Made appointment to bring the car in for the oil/gas recall repair. 1/16/2019 - recall repair. 1/19/2019 - smelled sulfur, this time in the car while driving. 1/20/2019 - twice, while idling, the engine knocked and felt like it was about to stall though it did not.
At approximately 5000 miles I changed the oil in our 2018 Cr-v (for the first time) and realized there was approximately 1. 5 quarts too much oil (it wasn't all oil, gasoline had diluted the oil). We have an appointment today at the Honda dealer in grand island, ne to have them 'install updated injector software and something concerning the a/c regulator (they said).
3-month-old 2018 Cr-v ex-l - noticed oil dilution problems within first 2 months. Dealer has been unresponsive. Gas has been getting into oil in apparently significant amounts. Persistent smells of gas and 'rotten eggs/meat' while operating. Oil level gets higher above measuring section of dipstick every time I check, smells of gas. Car begins to stall a bit occasionally. Had oil changed at 5k miles - tech confirmed oil was very thin, higher volume than should be, and smelled of gas. Very concerned about safety now (what if it stalls while in heavy highway traffic?) and also long-term engine damage since diluted oil will not lubricate as well. Researched online only after discovering problem - apparently well known problem, and widespread - but barely acknowledged by Honda.
Purchased the 2018 Honda Cr-v ex-l new from pearson Honda, midlothian va. 23112. Shortly after the purchase I noticed the odor of gas inside the vehicle. During December 2018, I called the dealer complaining that there was a strong odor of gas in the engine oil. I was advised to bring the vehicle in and they offered to change the oil free of charge. I researched on the internet and discovered that Honda knew about this engine defect during 2017 and still installed the defected engines in the 2018 Cr-v. Honda has issued a recall to correct the problem, but not for vehicles registered in va. I contacted the dealer and was advised to keep bringing in the vehicle after a short period of time for additional free oil changes. This is not acceptable and any assistance from you will be greatly appreciated. Second issue: while traveling on the interstate at speeds over 50mph without warning the vehicle would brake very hard, usually as a second vehicle is being over taken in the right lane. I reported this situation to the dealer and was advised the sensors are just very sensitive. This is a sporadic problem.
I have been getting a strong gas odor inside the car and the oil level was above the full mark, smelled strong of gas and was a dark color for being brand new with 3,000 miles. I brought to the dealer and they installed campaign recall #18-114 that included software update and a a/c control. I drove car 5 days and while driving on a busy road the car filled with gas fumes that was overwhelming I had to put all windows down and pull over to air the vehicle out and make sure it wasnt going to be a fire hazzard. I have reported issue to Honda factory and will be going to the dealer 12/19/18 to adress the issue again.
Repeated loss of power / stall. Checked fluids and oil dipstick level is high and smells strongly of gasoline.
1. 5l turbo engine- changed oil at 5200 miles tech said "very dirty". At 7200 miles/6 months- almost stalled in traffic 3 times. All three times I had to brake suddenly. Smell of gas in the cab once. I checked the oil, after 2000 miles since last changed- oil was black and smelled like gas. Dropped it off at the dealership- they have had it over a week. They seem elusive in updates. Tell me nothing is wrong one minute, it's ok the oil was that dirty, but then they "updated the electrical system" and changed the oil. Again they said- nothing is wrong, but they want to keep it one more night to test drive it and Honda has a solution to my problem coming soon.
Started noticing engine knocking in the first 500 miles. Vehicle only has 2,509 miles mostly freeway driving. Purchased April 2018. First drove it in April 409 miles round trip, and then again in may, same mileage and again in August. Only started driving it daily to and from work 16 miles round trip in September and it had 1600 miles. I then drove it on October 400 miles round trip and now I smell gasoline in car and it stalled on me while trying to make left turn in intersection. Also lights around mirror do not stay on. I don't think I should be smelling gas. Not sure what to do.
My car has stalled twice immediately on cold start. This is an issue as both times it resulted in unexpected rollback, as my garage is on a slope, and it seemed like the brake pedal was still "locked" like in engine off mode, so I rolled back despite pressing the pedal. This could be a serious safety consideration if I had people around my car.
I have taken my vehicle to the local dealer multiple times over concern with gasoline mixing with the engine oil. On my first visit, they asked me to pay for an oil change and they would mark the level of oil. The dealer verified the changed oil level was exactly at the full line on the dipstick. Less than a week later I noticed a strong smell of gasoline and took the vehicle back to the dealership. They checked and verified that the oil level had increased by 1/2" and said they would contact Honda tech support. Two days later they sent me a message saying this was perfectly normal. I have noticed decreased engine performance and am concerned about stalling and significant engine damage.
My concern of reports regarding gas in oil of 2017-2018 Cr-v 1. 5 turbo. Reports of stalling, engine damage, give me little comfort that it only happens on short trips and cold climates when we live in iowa. This is my second Honda and bought again because of its previous reliability. We have 381 miles on this car. (232 at time of purchase on 10-11-18. No warning was made of this possible problem before purchase. We are "counting on" Honda taking responsibility and correcting.
Repeated stalling and safety systems going haywire.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Honda Cr-v. While driving 20 mph, the vehicle stalled and restarted after several minutes. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 3,820.
Bought car in may, 2018 at Smart Honda, iowa. At 1200 miles , discovered gas in my oil. It smelled of gas when the heater was on. I had the oil changed at dealer and kept the old oil sample for reference. Contacted manuf 's csr on 10/17 and rep said, we will change the oil when you want but there is no fix yet and nothing on the horizon. I checked the oil when the car was stationary and drive only short distances when absolutely necessary as I fear stalling and seizing of the engine occurs under these conditions. The old oil has the viscosity of alcohol and is black. I am getting poor (26 mpg) mileage and the oil stick was "over-topped. " I'm concerned that the engine rings and cylinders are experiencing premature wear under these conditions, which is only common sense. I would like to give the car back for a refund or purchase another new car without this engine. I have read about many others experiencing stalling at dangerous and inappropriate times. I would not sell this car to anyone under these circumstances or trade it in to anyone other than the dealer so the vehicle is basically worthless. Even with a "fix" I would be changing my oil every 500 to 1,000 miles out of fear of stalling on the highway. Needless to say I'm devastated that this could happen to my brand new car. I tend to keep cars 10 years. I feel I will lose a lot of money and time because of this lemon. Honda (manuf) has not been very helpful to me. Honda has stopped selling this engine for 2019 but continues to sell 2018's. They sold one to me when they knew about this problem back in Jan 2018 according to consumer reports. This engine defect has prevented me from enjoying normal life. I can't take long trips or do the things I normally do. I'm a retired widower age 64 and this is my only car. Please advise ASAP. Thank you for your time.
The engine oil is being diluted with gasoline due to a faulty engine design by Honda. We first noticed a strong gas odor in the cabin in October 2018. We bought the car to the dealer in Nov 2018, they noted the problem and did an oil change. Honda released TSB 18-114 in Dec 2018 to address the problem. I brought my Cr-v to the dealer on 01/03/2019 and they applied the fix per TSB 18-114. However 3 weeks later, I noticed gasoline still diluting the engine oil. I bought the car back and they did an oil change on 01/30/2019 (for free) and advised to come back in 1,000 miles to check the oil again. I am afraid Honda has no real fix for this issue and this constant dilution with lead to long term engine damage and possible other side effects like stalling.
The vehicle smells of un burnt gasoline in the cabin and under the hood. I went to check the oil level and it appeared higher than normal and it smelled of gasoline. Additionally, the dipstick had a odd solid residue on it. You can see it in the attached picture. We had brought the car to Honda they had kept it for a few days, they acknowledged the issue, and stated they had no "fix" for it. This is a major concern considering this is a pretty much brand new vehicle, especially considering the fact that Honda has noted concern for the vehicle randomly stalling.
My 2018 Honda crv touring with 1. 5l turbo engine had had a problem with the smell of fuel fumes in the interior cabin since the time of purchase. When you turn the air on with the air coming from the outside vent, especially when first starting the car, the smell of gasoline fumes is apparent, which is also a serious health safety concern as inhalation of fumes is definitely bad for your health. Every time I check my oil level, the dipstick shows the oil is overfilled beyond what the dipstick measures and the oil smells heavily of gas. After researching this online, I found that there is a problem that many 5th generation crv owners are experiencing with the 1. 5l turbo engine with too much gas getting into the oil and the smell of fumes in the cabin. This is what is causing my oil level to rise to unsafe levels that will accelerate the deterioration of expensive internal engine components. I contacted Honda and they performed a technical service bulliten related to this issue on December 4th 2018, where a module related to the air conditioning was replaced along with the engine oil and some software upgrade was installed. This changed absolutely nothing. I still am experiencing the sickening smell of gasoline fumes in the cabin as well as the dipstick showing more oil than it can measure along with the smell of gas coming from the oil.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Honda Cr-v. While driving 45 mph, the brakes failed and the vehicle stalled without warning. The abs indicator illuminated after the failure. On another occasion, while driving 25 mph, the brakes failed and the vehicle stalled without warning again. The vehicle was able to be restarted after a few moments. The vehicle was taken to darling's Honda Nissan Volvo (114 sylvan rd, bangor, me 04401, (207) 941-1460) where it was diagnosed that the engine software needed to be updated. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 2,485.
