36 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2024

I have contacted my local Honda dealer about this issue months ago and the recall and they said they did not have parts available yet. I have always kept my maintenance up since I bought it new. On the way home the other night all of a sudden my turbo charger blew and took out my catalytic converter along with it. I was told this was a $8000 repair!!!! it only has 135,000 on the car. I have read and spoke to many people that stated that the fuel pump issues can cause this! I am so upset by all of this. I should not have to pay for this nor is this safe!.

When I entered my license plate info (state: ms plate: [xxx] ) on NHTSA the recall notice I received from Honda is alerted on this site, however, when I entered VIN just a moment ago to file a complaint against the manufacturer dealership failure to assist me, the recall does not pull with this complaint. After months of trying to get the right person to help schedule my recall service, I finally received a call back from kyle at the dealership, patty peck Honda, ridgeland, ms who stated the fuel pumps are on a national back order may get some in next fall (was not sure). He also told me Honda would send out another letter once the parts are available (the original recall notice only mentioned limited supply for customers experiencing issues and did not reference anything about another notice!). I explained to kyle that I am having issues expressed with this safety recall who said there is no wait list because it would be impossible to track. I would have to just keep checking back. The perception is Honda is making it impossible to get this resolved. I want this on record should I am involved in a deadly accident because Honda chooses cost savings over my life. I bought this car new from same dealership and also service it with them. [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Need to add the 2nd recall notice from Honda dated 5/2024 to my open complaint number 11607308 submitted 8/8/24 1:41pm that supports my claim. See attached.

39 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2024

As I was attempting to quickly accelerate to merge onto the freeway my vehicle experienced extreme hesitation and engine misfires. All my dash warning lights were then illuminated. My vehicle nearly came to a stop. This nearly caused me to be rearended by vehicles on the freeway especially an 18-wheeler that was quickly approaching to my rear. I limped onto the side median where I stopped my vehicle turned it off and then restarted it. It restarted but all the warning lights were still illuminated. I managed to drive slowly to my dealership where my vehicle had just been around two weeks prior for a similar incident (only the one engine warning light was illuminated) where they replaced my fuel pump under recall. On my latest incident they did a diagnostic check, and it displayed dtc codes p0172, p0300, p0301, p0302, p0304, multiple cylinder misfires and fuel rail pressure too high. At their recommendation they replaced my fuel injector and spark plugs. My vehicle was 4 months and 8000 miles out of the extended Honda care warranty I had purchased when I bought my vehicle, so I had to pay for the repairs. Nearly 10 days later my vehicle was experiencing similar symptoms of hesitation and misfires upon rapid acceleration with all dash warning lights illuminated. I stopped and restarted my car drove it to an auto parts store where they ran a computer diagnostic check, and it showed random misfires and also this time it said I needed my pcm reprogrammed. I managed to reset the codes and now looking to sell my vehicle. I felt compelled to notify Honda corporate customer relations via email, not just for a reimbursement of payment but also for safety notification; they checked my VIN and was told since there was not a current campaign on that VIN and it was out of warranty so it's up to me to repair. I believe it is a safety issue affecting my model like it has affected others.

This is about NHTSA recall number 23v-858. So far nothing had happened to my car, but I don't understand why Honda is being allowed to drag its heels in fixing this problem. They should not be allowed to build new cars until this very important safety problem is remedied. I am afraid to use my car for any trips since I may be stranded at any time or even get into an accident. Nhtsa should be pressuring Honda to fix this problem in a timelier manner. So far I have received two letters about the problem and no date as to when my car can be fixed.

41 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2024

There is a recall issued for my vehicle. I have experienced the exact symptoms described as part of the recall notice. I had a check engine light. Initially they said it was the battery and replaced it, however, a month later again was the same problem. They had an area of diagnosis where it said fuel injection replacement. I was charged 3k. I spoke to them and asked why is it that I had to replace my battery within 1 month, thats very odd. Why is not the recall issue that is the problem and why do they not fix that for me? why is it that the recall issue is not causing my issues or secondairly causing my issues and everything is being addressed but the recall? I called company. They said they cant get any information from the dealership because of their systems being down—in 2024, lies. Systems can be down but eventually they can be fixed. They asked me to go to a different dealership. I have gone to a different dealership. I was told that the company is not reimbursing people despite having these issues of starting vehciles and check engine signs. These companies need to be held accountable. If a recall is issued, and when a customer is having issues, they cant just blame it one the batter or other parts and act like the recall is not the issue.

42 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2024

Dash showed emission system problem had p219f code dealer wants to replace all fuel injectors said can cause car to go into limp mode.

43 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2024

My car’s warning lights simultaneously come on. After a couple of weeks, they will go off and then once again come on. This has been happening for over a year now. Today I tried to drive and the car shook but would not accelerate. Once I turned it off and back on, the lights were still on but it did go forward. I have noticed many recalls for the Honda crv but my VIN is not listed in the recall. It seems to me based on the other recalls, mine should be recalled as well. I have only 54,000 miles on my crv.

44 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2024

Warning lights: adaptive cruise control fault. Lane departure fault collision avoidance fault and emissions check engine. Diagnosed fix: fuel injectors malfunctioning. This making the emissions light come on making all the other warning lights to go off. Fixed at a local Honda dealer. Not really a fix less then 24 hours later the same warning lights came back on however now a huge loss of power and loud engine noise when stepping on throttle. Just dropped off at dealer again to be diagnosed again.

45 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2024

The car failed to start three times and stalled twice in 1 day. My new driver, a 19 year old, was driving when this occurred. Car was driven to a local mechanic that diagnosed "code p0087 fuel pressure failure open recall - recommend going to the dealership. " the car was then taken to holler Honda. They confirmed the problem. The part was ordered but is back ordered. I've been given an eta of September 2024. I have not been offered a loaner and am currently renting a car at my own expense as the car is now inoperable. The vehicle has under 37,000 miles.

46 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2024

Hello I have been so upset with Honda. I’ve owned many Hondas and other cars in my past and never had any problems. I would tell anyone to buy a Honda until now. My daughter has been driving my car and she said it smelled bad and all the lights kept coming on. We took it to a mechanic and at that time they didn’t really see anything wrong with it. My daughter kept driving it and we found out about the recall and called to have that fixed and they said they don’t have the part and they don’t know when they will get it. Well that was upsetting because we felt that was an issue with the car and we didn’t understand why they couldn’t just order the part give us something else to drive until they got it in but no such luck. The last time I talked to Honda in marion, ohio they said I didn’t need the part but clearly that is wrong. Well the part I’m the most upset about is my daughter could have died driving down the road and all the lights came on in the vehicle and it would not drive while she’s out in the middle of nowhere scared half to death. We get the vehicle to Honda and they say it’s the fuel injectors. I’m like no one’s fuel injectors go out. Well I look it up and it’s a huge problem for Honda and they just don’t want to pay to have them replaced. It has cost me $2000 and had to get another car to drive and my Honda still isn’t driving very good and still no recall fixed. This is wrong! I am very disappointed in Honda and shocked. What can I do about this situation?.

47 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2024

My car has been having fuel issues for the past few years. I found out some time ago that Honda recalled the fuel pump on my vehicle. Since I started having issues (well over 1 year ago) I have reached out to Honda numerous times only to be told that unless my vehicle stops driving they wont take in any other vehicle on this recall. That was fine when my vehicle was still driving. Around April 2024 my crv stopped driving due to fuel pump issues. I had to tow to my house. I have attempted to use the Honda location closest to my house, (rapids Honda) coon rapids, mn. I have been told that they have no parts. Have attempted to get me to pay for this service but when I attempt to get them to take my vehicle for the recall they will only take it if I pay. I have attempted to work with them under recall and they stated they don't have the parts. I have been hung up on and advised they would call back to only not call back. I have been waiting months with my crv dead in my driveway with fuel pump issue.

48 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2024

My daughter was driving my car and she noticed this terrible smell and some of the lights came on to check the engine so we took it to get looked at and they said they didn’t see anything wrong. So she was driving it and then all the lights came on and the car would not drive. We had it taken to a place to get looked at and they said they couldn’t fix it so we had to take it to Honda and they said it needed new fuel injectors and this was not cheap. I was very upset with Honda because they know this is an issue with this year and make of car but they don’t want to pay to fix it and they never fixed the recall because he said they do not have the parts until later in the year. That is ridiculous. I’ve never had any problems with Honda until now and I’ve had many Hondas. My daughter could have been hit by another car or anything could have happened. They need to pay for this $2,000 repair. Thank you.

49 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2024

Car stops suddenly on highway, going into, "limp mode. " all dash warning lights came on. Rich emissions. Vtm-4 issue. This is an ongoing issue with Cr-vs, yet manufacturer has issues no solution, clearly opting to work each situation independently. Therefore, manufacturer saves the time and money associated with these repairs.

50 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2024

The fuel injectors are failing at 55 to 62k miles. The car experiences a loss of steering wheel functioning components related to the driver assist, and multiple warning lights appear on the dash for a period of a few days, then they suddenly disappear. There are slight hesitations in the automobile's acceleration, and this puts my family at risk during operation. The fuel pumps in the 2019 were replaced under recall but they failed to include the fuel rail and injectors and the pump we believe may have more pressure than the rail as and injectors were designed to handle and this shortens the life cycle of the part. The dealership diagnosed this problem and acknowledges that these same components have failed on other models and have settled lawsuits by extending the warranty periods to fix the injectors on certain less popular and lower sales volume models, but did not include the 2019 crv and we think it is because that is a more popular model that would result in much more outgoing expense. His is putting many families at risk including my [xxx] daughter and her new born son. The dealership sells the injector and fuel rail parts that need to be fixed as a kit now due to previous and existing recalls in other Honda models but Honda consumer affairs has declined any warranty assistance to repair the 2019 crv. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

51 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/29/2024

The safety recall notice that I have received from Honda (relating to my 2019 crv) states that the fuel pump may fail and that could result in an accident. Then they state that the replacement parts will not be available until the fall 2024. A copy of the recall notice is attached. I am concerned that I will be driving a vehicle, for many months, which might cause an accident. It is irresponsible of Honda to not address this issue quickly.

52 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2024

Sometimes when you shut the car off, the fuel pump in the fuel tank continues to run. I restarted my car and shut it off and the fuel pump will stop. I'm not sure if it's a bad relay or in the wiring. I don't park near the house. Thanks.

53 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2024

I am reaching out because I received a recall notice for my Honda crv 2019. I received a notice that there’s and issue with the fuel pump and I am concerned because Honda sent a notice now in February but they have known about the issue since December. I called Honda world downey and I was told they would now be able to help me and to call back. I take this matter very seriously as I am concerned something may happen to me while I am driving the vehicle. I was told that they may be able to help me in fall of 2024 that’s 6 plus months away. I am unsure if I should drive my vehicle. Can I please get some advice.

54 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2024

The NHTSA announced a recall in the fall 2023 for Honda Cr-v 2018-2020 regarding the fuel pump module which may have an improperly molded impeller. The safety issue says the car may not start or may stall while driving. I travel frequently on highways, so stalling is not a pleasant outcome. On 2/13/24, I finally received a written notice from Honda indicating that my vehicle is affected. However, Honda states that parts will not be available until fall 2024! how can this be acceptable?? I don't have another vehicle to use. Do I continue driving my vehicle and hope that it does not suddenly stop?.

55 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2024

Tried to get this recall completed for about 11 months now at two different mcgrath Honda dealers and they continue to say they do not have the parts even when check engine light was on.

56 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2024

In February 2024 we received a safety recall from Honda stating the fuel pump could prevent an engine from starting, cause a vehicle to lose drive power, or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. It has been a year and we have not received any notice of replacement parts. Honda is producing new cars but cannot correct a problem with a 2019 car?!!! it should not take a year to correct this problem. The car could stop while driving and cause a crash and injury.

57 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2024

Our 2019 Honda crv had all warning lights on and flashing non-stop on the dash. We contacted Honda support and was asked to take car to a Honda dealer for diagnostics. We took the car to a Honda dealer in huston TX. They found the cause dtc p0301, a internal failure to fuel injectors. We had to pay the dealer cash $$$$. We submitted the all repair documentations to Honda and asked for a reimbursement. Honda CO should have refund this repair cost!! it's so unfair that Honda denied to cover this recall repair just because somehow our car was not in the recall list!.

58 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2024

A little over two weeks ago we took our 2019 Honda crv to the dealership because all the indicator lights were lighting up on the dashboard. It started as I was sitting in the car with the car idling as I waited for my husband to come out of the store. We took a short video of what it was doing. The car was at the dealership the next day, but there were no indicator lights like the previous day. We shared the video with the service rep. When we picked it up we were told the fuel injectors needed to be replaced and it would cost in excess of $2,300. The car has less than 78,000 miles on it. The service rep said that if it was his car he would not drive it a distance (freeway) with this problem. That says to me that it is a safety issue. We had been concerned that it could be an electrical issue because the car was in a front-end, side-swipe collision in November 2023, and we had just gotten it back from repairs at the dealership two weeks before the indicator lights problem. The service rep assured us it was not an electrical problem. I looked up the problem on the internet. On cargurus. Com there were a number of other Honda crv owners with the same problem at about the same mileage. Our safety is at risk with possible risk to friends and family because we need to drive on the freeway for daily activities. We took it to an independent automotive service location. They did not come to the same conclusion; the indicator lights were no longer on. This vehicle component has not been inspected by any others, other than already mentioned.

59 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2024

Fuel pump inoperative.

60 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2023

All dashboard warning lights were lit. Looked it up on line and prior years had their warranty period extended to include fuel injectors. My coded for this. Had to have them replaced at a Honda dealership. But my car is 5 yrs. Old with 61k and I have to pay for the repair. This is a safety issue as I was told the car could stop without warning while driving. Honda will only do a recall or warranty exception if you make them. I contacted Honda corporate and they refunded a warranty exception even though this car was dangerous to keep driving with the fuel injector failure.

61 Other Fuel System problem

Nothing has happened thus far, but: read about the recall in the paper. Went to the Honda website where they confirmed the vehicle is part of the recall and said "your search results indicate that your vehicle may be affected by a recall. If you conducted your search by VIN, please take immediate action to have your vehicle repaired, as your safety may be at risk. " went to the NHTSA website, where you all said, "safety risk: if the fuel pump module is inoperative, the engine may not start or can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. " additionally from NHTSA "recall status: recall incomplete, remedy not yet available. " called the local Honda dealership and they said they won't have parts until fall 2024. Per NHTSA website "if the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please file an online complaint with NHTSA. " so that's what I'm doing.

62 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2023

I had received a recall notice for the fuel pump replacement from the dealership in Dec 2023 with no remedy provided as the part was not available. I did not receive the official notice from american Honda until February 2024. The notice specifies that the part can malfunction causing the car to stall. The notice also mentions the possibility that the part will not be available until fall 2024. Altogether, this will be almost 9 months of driving a defective vehicle. I've contacted the company and the dealership several times to ask for a remedy, perhaps a loaner vehicle or reimbursement for car services, and no one has offered any remedy, and I am left driving an unsafe car. I understand the shortage of parts but for those that rely on their vehicles 9 months for a replacement part is excessive.

63 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2023

I am taking this vehicle on a trip and am concerned that it will stop running due to the faulty fuel pump. I have contacted my dealer and Honda. I was told there is nothing they can do. I am 70 years old and I am not comfortable taking this vehicle on a trip. I may get stranded in a remote location or in bad weather. Please help. I am leaving this Friday. I have tried to resolve this with Honda and the dealer. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle.

64 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2023

Newspaper told me about the fuel pump recall in December. I have called the dealer several times over the last 5 months. They still don't have the parts. Newspaper says "engine may stall increasing crash and injury risk. " I called your help line who told me to wait til the parts are available. How long will I have to wait????????????????????????????????????.

65 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2023

2019 Honda crv 61k miles, already had all lights on dash pop up. Says battery is bad, but its good. Then asked me to change engine filter and cabin, done and good now its saying fuel injectors? when does it end this is a joke.

66 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2023

After waiting in car, dash board went crazy with all warning lights scrolling. Two dealers refused to take car because the dash stopped. This happened 3 times. Third time, autozone x2 and firestone, independent of one another said computer issue and that a code for rich fuel was coming up. On sixth check, mechanic private used code reader after check engine light came on. Dash went berserk twice. They refused to touch vehicle stating it’s electrical. Took it to dealer who kept car for five weeks. ‘can’t get an active code. We can start with fuel injectors’. ‘maybe’ that will stop dash board issue. Now, five days after this diagnosis, dealer states that the tech did find drop in voltage happening intermittently. When I asked why I was not told this originally - he cited mis communication. Car runs great. No repairs done yet as no one knows what to do. 114,000 miles. Highway. I am on several forums and this is not an isolated issue. Help please.

67 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2023

I purchased my 2019 Honda crv exl brand new. There is a history of fuel injectors problems. All of my dashboard lights come on all the time. It may go off for a few hours then come back on again. Honda knows of this problem. It is a manufacturer defect. I went to Honda to price the charge. I want to charge 2000 dollars to replace the fuel injectors. Honda should take responsibility and replace this part. It is a safety hazard for my waning lights not work because of the fuel injectors. Plus Honda is trying to make money off of this.

68 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2023

On two separate occasions, the car shut off shortly after the car was turned on. After the first occasion, we thought it was a battery problem and called aaa. They said the battery was in good condition ( it was replaced in 3. 2023) and the car turned on after a jump start. Several weeks later the same thing happened and the car would not turn on even after a jump start. I had the car towed to a local auto store where they told us the work up showed a p0087 error - low fuel pressure. This was a felt to be an issue with the fuel pump and recommended we take the car to Honda as this was supposed to be under recall for crvs from 2018 and 2019. We towed the car to Honda and they confirmed it was fuel pump issue but our car VIN was not associated with the current recall. The dealership and Honda corporate ultimately refused to cover the cost of repair/replacement of fuel pump as they said our vehicle is currently not under the recall despite the fact that our Honda crv is also from 2019. I am filing this complaint to notify nthsb of the issue we had and whether our vehicle and potentially other vehicles would need to be included in the current recall.

69 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2023

The fuel pump failed, causing the vehicle to lose power while I was on the highway. According to my mechanic, it appeared to be the same issue that affected other 2019 Honda crvs which were recalled, but which did not cover my specific VIN.

70 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2023

Out of the blue, the high pressure fuel pump failed on this car and had to be replaced. The specifics are if not identical, close to the same as the low pressure fuel pump issue that had a a recall. The car started but then stalled. We were able to restart after disconnecting battery, drove a short distance and the same situation happened. From that moment the car would only start but then immediately stall. The part that was replaced is a denso 1679050pc, h022m2. The part that the local dealership says was replaced is 06161-5pc-305, we also have reported to Honda corporate and they are investigating under case no. 14028770. We do not have much documentation as yet, but telephone conversations indicate they are only considering a hardship/loyalty reimbursement as a possibility. It is pending. In addition, I have been advised by our local mechanic that he has the exact same issue in another car, a 2019 Honda accord.
