Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Honda CR-V based on all problems reported for the CR-V.

36 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/25/2025

The millimeter wave radar has failed. While using adaptive cruise control the vehicle set off many alarms without prior warning. The vehicle suddenly showed that adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, road departure mitigation, frontal collision, low speed parking were no longer functioning and to see a dealer. I was not using frontal collision no road departure mitigation as these features had twice before unexpectedly applied heavy breaking without warning with no obstructions near vehicle. Fortunately no accident occurred but very unnerving to say the least. The dealer has confirmed that the millimeter wave radar has failed and will need replaced. Honda sensing is not very reliable and should be used with caution if used at all.

37 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/01/2025

So for over a year my dash lights and I mean every light from tire pressure to abs brake to lane assist every light was on. Then about three months four months ago it began going into limp mode just driving down the road. This is a 2017 Honda crv over 100,000 miles on it took it into Honda of hennessy in woodstock georgia. They said that it needed fuel injectors which over 300,000 recalls were done for the same thing except mine cost me $2200 to fix what has happened to Honda. Before I could get it to a dealership because I live over an hour and a half away, the car would just shut down and I would have to pull over stop the car crank it back up hold my breath and go till the next time it would go into limp mode.

38 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2025 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/21/2025

With adaptive cruise control on, without touching brake or cruise controls, while passing semi trucks (also happens but less frequently with all vehicles), the adaptive cruise control will pause or disengage, causing the vehicle to lose speed and momentum. Vehicles trailing the vehicle at this time are not aware of this sudden change in constant speed, creating a potential serious accident at highway speeds. Problem has occurred numerous time over the life of the vehicle (2 months). Is repeatable.

39 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/14/2025

2017 Honda crv had several warning lights came on and dealer indicated it was fuel injection problem. Dealer charged $ 1500 and fixed problem. Again this year same warnings light came on. Dealer is indicating it's due to timimg chain issue and dealer wants to pull parts from engibe to see what the problem is and depending on what the problem is fix it. Dealer wants to charge more money depending on what they find and is high cost item. Delaer is not specific.

40 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/14/2025

On highway, engaged cruise control at 70 mph. Engine light came on, simultaneously with loss of power (pressing on gas pedal did nothing) and apple carplay disconnect. We were near an exit and managed to drift off, at lower off-ramp speed engine again could respond to accelerator however was chugging very badly. Went to nearby oil change place. Mechanic there advised going straight to dealer a short distance further. Drove on to the Honda dealer, car still chugging and stopped the car until I could talk to the service person. When the car restarted it was no longer chugging. Service person diagnosed the following and said I basically needed a new engine: tech scanned vehicle and found codes p0300 random cyl misfire, p0302 cyl 2 misfire. Tech checked live data and had very little misfire coming from cyl 3, pulled all coils and plugs and found cyl 2 and 4 had the injectors still spraying with the vehicle off indicating failure of the injectors in those 2 cylinders, in cylinder 3 tech found excessive oil burning on the piston, indicating oil leaking into the combustion chamber of the motor.

41 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/10/2024

The module for the interpretation of sensor output caused the reporting of false alerts. The vehicle is available for inspection. My safety was compromised by 10 alerts recurring alerts as I was driving at the posted speed on in interstate highway. The problem has not been reproduced. The Honda dealer inspected the vehicle at my expense. Only the Honda dealer has inspected the vehicle. The vehicle’s system indicators panel displayed the false alerts. See the attached . Pdf files. The false alerts included warning sounds. 2024-12-10_cr-v_false-alerts. Pdf 2024-12-10_cr-v_false-alerts. Jpg 2024-12-18_cr-v_diagnostics_false-alerts. Pdf.

42 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2025 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/10/2024

The radar sensor on our Honda 2025 Cr-v was stolen. It is apparently a very easy thing to do and has been rampant in many regions of the country. It takes about 30 seconds to take from the car, and costs thousands to replace. Honda has known about this for several years but has done nothing to fix the problem or help owners fix the problem. They did not tell us about the potential problem when we were buying the car. They have instructed their dealerships to not help customers solve the issue despite solutions available on the market from reputable companies. If one tries to go this route, Honda will void the warranty on the sensor. I'm reporting this to hopefully put some pressure on Honda to remedy this situation for all of us victims.

43 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 11/15/2024

It has not been looked at yet due to not having funds to get it looked at. I do know others have the same consistent issue with these models especially when they’d get around 70,000 miles. All of the warning lights the last few months would continue to cut on and off. Now they just stay on. The car drives fine though but is a safety hazard since it can’t tell us if something is wrong.

44 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/27/2024

Had all of the warning adaptive driver assistance systems malfunction off all of a sudden warning me to pull over and contact dealer. Car was driving fine but scared me so much that I pulled over. Awaiting to hear back from dealer. I bought the brand new 2024 Honda crv hybrid in January and it has 12000 miles on it so far.

45 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/01/2024

At startup, routinely see the following messages: lane keeping assist problem road departure mitigation system problem collision mitigation breaking system problem I have taken the car into multiple Honda dealers this year to fix the issue. The first told me I needed to have the body control module replaced, and that the can could try and communicate with the key fob constantly, risking battery drain and posing a safety issue. The part was replaced, but the issue persisted. I then opened a case with Honda corporate, case #: 14639406. This dealer said there was a "short" in the multipurpose camera and replaced that part. 2 months later, the issues came back.

46 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/01/2024

Yesterday, my car was working fine. This afternoon October 1, 2024, when I turned on the engine I saw a prompt “cmbs problem” on the screen. Warning signs/lamps lit up as well, 1. Adaptive control cruise problem, road departure mitigation system problem, collision mitigation system problem, and auto high beam problem. I have not contacted the dealership about this current issue because I plan to go to the dealership to do my oil change this coming Saturday 10/05/2024. Just an fyi, they still haven’t addressed my recall ( the 2017-22 fuel pump mtr saf recall exp2). At this time, no injury happened, but I am definitely scared of my safety using my car.

47 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/20/2024

I was driving on a straight road (daylight, dry conditions) in my 2022 Honda Cr-v (mid trim level) using my adaptive cruise control. The closest cars ahead of me, and in the periphery, were at least three quarters of a mile away. All of a sudden, the car, independent of me, slammed on the brakes. Fortunately, this did not cause an accident, but 10 minutes earlier, when I was on a crowded interstate during rush hour, the result might have been very different. As I reflect on this incident, I realize that this has happened at least twice before. However, in those cases, I thought the front sensor had picked up a curved barricade or something. But no! apparently the Cr-v randomly slams on the brakes. Clearly this is a dangerous situation that needs to be resolved. Ideally there will be a recall within the next few months to replace whatever component is causing this problem to happen.

48 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/06/2024

All driving assistance features (lane departure, adaptive cruse control, abs and other sensing components) , warning flashing on dashboard and within a second of this message speed drastically reduced to 20mph from whatever speed on running. It does not allow me to escalate but after some time it escalates on its own. Due to reduce of speed suddenly puts me, CO- passengers and other vehicles behind on risk of collision or even risk of life and same time unexpected escalation makes driver lose control. These incidents happen thrice even after service center says it fixed. This problem is reported to service center and Honda customer care. Currently the vehicle is with dealer service center.

49 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/21/2024

The car had just 44,242 miles when this problem started on 8/21/2024. Two months later, the problem persists. The safety systems of the car fail upon startup and remain this way for multiple cycles of driving the car. The reality is that I cannot check enough boxes above because the form doesn't allow me. The following warnings all come up at the same time: - emission system problem - brake system problem - brake hold system problem - power steering system (eps) problem - vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem - hill start assist problem - adaptive cruise control problem - collision mitigation system problem - road departure mitigation system problem - electronic parking brake problem - tire pressure monitor problem eventually, after some amount of time or some number of restarts, the warnings clear and the safety systems work again. Then, the problem reappears.

50 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/16/2024

Earlier this week and again today, my wife and I were using our 2017 Honda Cr-v ex when the car behaved very anomalously. In both of these instances, the car started normally and moved out onto the street, but then the engine abruptly bogged down and multiple messages of the form "xxx system has a problem" would cycle on the driver's display. At this time, the car would barely move forward or reverse, and shifting into reverse ("r") was accompanied by a noticeable jerk and a thump. The shifter display on the driver's display also appeared to be showing all of the possible shift settings at once. One or two cycles of rebooting the system on the infotainment/backup camera display appeared to clear the engine operation problem, but the error messages persisted for several miles and several restarts before they abruptly disappeared. Note that the streets here in florida are very flat, and the weather this week has been mostly hot and humid with little rain. We have about 40,000 miles on the odometer, and the car has been serviced regularly by the local Honda dealer. When this anomalous behavior is not taking place, the car seems to move and accelerate normally. Several other complaints appear to describe the same problem, and some owners report that they have been told that they need new fuel injectors. We have not yet taken our car to the dealer or other mechanic, and the problem has not yet been reproduced by the dealer or anyone other than us. This appears to be a safety issue because a sudden loss of engine power in traffic could be very dangerous. During the malfunction with reduced engine power, I recorded a video of the driver's display which I can provide upon request.

51 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/15/2024

My vehicle lost brakes as I was driving. The dealer stated it was because of wiring problem but I read where crv were having a problem with the accident mitigation system. They replaced my wiring harnes to my rear view mirror. The dealer couldn't explain why I lost power to my brakes.

52 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/15/2024

Electric parking brake failure rendered the car undrivable. The problem was addressed by dealer in 2/24 but returned in 8/24. The parking brake switch was replaced at that time but problem returned 3 weeks later. Error codes indicated left side parking brake deployed unexpectedly. Unable to release parking brakes. After replacement of parking brake switch all error messages disappeared and parking brakes worked properly. After 3 weeks parking brakes non functional and error massages indicated brakes and multiple systems not working. Due to repeated parking brake issues traded in car at a loss as reliable transportation was needed.

53 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/03/2024

The automatic emergency warning light came on 4 times when there was no reason it should have come on bc there was no chance of a collision. Two of those times the automatic braking system was activated. This was dangerous. The dealer said there is no recall and nothing they can do. In addition, many warnings appeared on the dash one after another… tire press monitor problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system prob, vehicle stability assist prob, adaptive cruise control prob, collision mitigation system prob, road depart. Sys prob, electric parking brake problem, low brake fluid, and warned to stop ASAP and put on brake.

54 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/01/2024

Multipurpose windshield camera failed which disable many of the driver assistance safety systems. Dashboard display showed constant multiple system failures that could not be turned off by driver. Replacing the multipurpose windshield camera and recalibrating the camera cleared all the system failures. Cost for repairs was $1,737 which seems extreme for a camera.

55 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/18/2024

If the car is parked outside on a day where temperatures exceed 95 degrees fahrenheit, it causes the front sensor camera to malfunction. This is a common issue with crvs and is heavily documented in online forums. The overheating results in the vehicle’s features dependent on the camera and sensors to malfunction, causing a serious driving safety issues. The car’s audible notification system also goes off, resulting in constant beeping chimes while driving the vehicle.

56 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/08/2024

I was driving from los angeles to las vegas on the I-15 freeway with moderate traffic, going approximately 70 mph. I was traveling in the #1 (left most) lane. I had been using adaptive cruise control (acc) for several hours without any problems. Acc started behaving differently: instead of automatically applying the brakes when the vehicle in front slowed down, I had to press the break peddle manually. This happed twice before the car suddenly, unexpectedly, applied full braking force. I had to take emergency action to avoid being hit by the vehicle behind me and quickly move onto the left shoulder. My vehicle completed its stop on the shoulder. A message flashed on the instrument panel (I believe it was related to the brakes), I was too busy getting off the road to read it. After the vehicle stopped, the brakes released, and I was again able to drive. I turned off acc and re-entered the freeway (with some difficulty, as traffic was moving very fast). We continued our journey to our destination without cruise control activated. There were no further problems. I took my vehicle into the dealer when I returned from our trip. They inspected it and checked for codes. There were no codes. They did a short test drive and had no problems. The said vehicle needed software updates and did them. Updated ebb, evps, and updated acc/cmbs and pgm f/I software.

57 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/06/2024

At 9k miles excessive noise, sounds like a helicopter. Dealership confirmed all four tires were scalped, did an alignment and thought it might correct the problem. It has not, both the dealer and corporate Honda refused to correct. Adaptive cruise control malfunction, major safety hazard. When engaged the car unexpectedly stops at all speeds on highway or rural roads, with no cars in sight in front of the vehicle. Have experienced multiple incidents or near rear end collisions because of abrupt braking. When brought to dealer they claimed they couldn't find any error codes, thought that maybe dirt was on the two radar sensing units. . . Not the case, still continues to be an issue. Car turns off unexpectedly. . . On an on ramp to a highway, traffic was stopped. When traffic started moving the car turned off completely. . . Warning light stated see dealer. Put the car in park and restarted vehicle, brought to dealer who claimed no error codes. All the above happened at the 9k miles, none of the major safety hazard issues were confirmed by the dealer or corporate Honda. Am at a loss as to next steps. Please advise, thanks.

58 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/05/2024

Warning lights: adaptive cruise control fault. Lane departure fault collision avoidance fault and emissions check engine. Diagnosed fix: fuel injectors malfunctioning. This making the emissions light come on making all the other warning lights to go off. Fixed at a local Honda dealer. Not really a fix less then 24 hours later the same warning lights came back on however now a huge loss of power and loud engine noise when stepping on throttle. Just dropped off at dealer again to be diagnosed again.

59 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/25/2024

All warning lights are active on the dash touch screen and the ip. The warning is audible and visual and cycling rapidly and very annoying. Dangerous when driving as a distraction making driving after dark very dangerous. This is the second time in a year this same problem has happened. We are the original owners of the car bought from art mohen Honda in jackson michigan in 2017. The first incident was intermittent and the touch screen would clear. Unrelated to the computer problem we we in a collision and during the repair process the car was taken to art mohen Honda and faults were cleared on the computer. This lasted 7 months and now the computer is in complete fault as discribed above.

60 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/13/2024

I was driving in town so, each block has either a stop sign or a traffic light. I realized that my brake pad seemed to get spongy. At the red light as I was nervous that there was something wrong I looked down and seen a light blinking but, it was my oil light. After heading to the next block my brakes were suddenly not doing anything and the pedal went down to the floor. I was not going fast so I decided that if I had to I would pull the emergency brake. I did that as well to no avail. I went to the closest parking lot and checked all my fluid. My oil was fine, my brake fluid was low. I added brake fluid and went on my way. The following day I left my home as usual and another light came on. The oxygen sensor. I'm not sure why the vehicle is doing this as I do keep up with maintenance. I have spoken with a mechanic , his assessment was it could be anything yet seems to be electrical. I did some research do to the fact that my car has been with me since 2009 (used). I would love to keep my car for as many more years as possible but, I also have to be safe. At this point it has to be something wrong with the products I'm using on my vehicle.

61 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/10/2024

It's happened 3 times now. Car "phantom breaks" at highway speeds. Clear and open road. Then every single warning light the car has comes on. When you lose power, you can accelerate. Last time it happened I was nearly rear ended by 2 cars. Honda cannot figure it out. They keep putting bandaids on this issue but the reality is they can't duplicate and more of the same issues are popping up online from 6th generation owners. The crv has a major issue. It's only a matter of time before there is another recall. I want to start the lemon process as Honda has had my car for more than a month and on 3 different occasions and cannot give me an answer. It's all fluff, pushing me closer and closer to my warranty expiring. Picture submitted shows all warning lights. I.

62 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

Multi purpose camera failure that impacts the safety features in my vehicle. Many people have reported this, however Honda still hasn’t created a recall on it. Dealership wants $1900 to replace, but this is a safety feature how is this not on Honda to handle?.

64 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/27/2024

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - the adaptive cruise control and emergency braking. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - the system is reading that other cars on my passenger side usually or coming on or off the exit ramps on the interstate as cars in front of me. In turn the system directs the car to slow down and then at some points break hard while driving at highway speeds. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - the technician at the Honda dealer told me just to turn it off as its better to have it off than on. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - there has not been an accident as of current that would warrant an inspection. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - the adaptive showing the car in front, showing the word brake on the Mini dash and then you can also feel the gradual to almost complete stop of the car when this occurs. The main place to see is the outline will fill up as if a car is in front, but one is not.

65 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2023 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/24/2024

When driving at 70-75 mph with adaptive cruise set, the steering wheel feels like it locks and won’t turn but when you add force, it breaks loose. This is not lane keeping assist, it is something different. It is getting worse but the Honda dealership says they can’t replicate it. It appears to be getting worse over time and I’m afraid it could cause an accident by completely locking up the steering wheel.

66 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/20/2024

Vehicle suddenly starts showing all warnings lights on dashboard, including: - adaptive cruise control? - collision mitigation? - road departure mitigation? - vehicle stability assist? - hill start assist? - electric parking brake? - tire pressure monitoring and many more.

67 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/20/2024

Honda has all these controls on their steering wheel that can accidentally be turned on, even while driving, and have any of those adaptive functions suddenly start working. For example, twice already I was driving and somehow the "lane keeping assistance" turned on. My steering wheel was shaking and I couldnt control it, get it to stop. It frightened me & the first time I pulled over on the side of the road thinking my cars tie-rods have broken. It did it again last night and I was really frightened. My husband reached over & turned it off. He said I must have turned it on while holding the steering wheel. I had another function "lane depature warning" turn on when I was trying to switch lanes. I was fighting with the steering wheel. The paddles on the wheel are also a hazard. I reached for the turn signal & hit a paddle. I dont know what the hell these do & I was freaking out thinking what did I just turn on now that we make me lose control of the car. These functions should not be something that can be turned on once the car is started. I have never had any issues with cruise control on any car I own. I really do not like this car. I'm scared. I will need to drive my husbands mercedes because I fear the Honda crv. I cant return the car. How many people have been in accidents or killed because they functions can turn themselves on without the driver knowing they did. This is not a nuisance, this is a accident waiting to happen. Please, something needs to be done. I spent $40k on a disaster. Thank you.

68 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/13/2024

All of the warning lights came up on my dash and stayed on for almost 24 hours on this most recent occasion of this problem indicating that there was all of the following: emissions systems problem, brake system problem, power steering system problem, vsa problem, hill start assist problem, adaptive cruise control, problem, road departure mitigation, and hill start assist problem. This was approximately the 5th time that this has happened. The problem occurred when I turned the car back on and started to drive after it had been turned off for 10 minutes. This problem seems to be triggered by 2 different events: either idling (like in a drive thru line for a long time) the car, or, after starting the car after it has been turned off of a short period of time. The previous incidence of this problem was on January 7, 2024.

69 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/13/2024

The vehicle randomly starts flashing every warning message across the info screen, all steering and cruise functions become disabled. No codes when scanned, can't reset the displaty warnings but clears on its own sometimes, then comes back randonmly. Dealer has been no help and cant fix. Warning that display are: collision itigation system, road departure mitigation system problem, brake proble< steering problem and more.

70 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/29/2024

All driver assistance functions (adaptive cruise, automatic emergency braking, collision warning, lane departure, lane keep assist, and probably the blind spot warning too) failed simultaneously, as indicated by warning lights and messages on the instrument panel. (also failing were the brake hold function, and the parking brake, and the brake failure light was also illuminated, though the brakes did appear to function. ) (the check engine light also illuminated, though the engine continued to operate. ) the root cause of the failure (as determined by the dealer) was failed fuel injectors causing the engine to run too rich. Yes, it is odd that failed fuel injectors cause a complete and total failure of the driver assistance features, but apparently this is not an uncommon failure mode for this particular problem on this model of engine.
