The vehicle automatically and suddenly slammed on the brakes when a deflated mylar balloon floated across my lane. It braked hard for several seconds then released the brakes as the balloon cleared my lane. I felt like I had no control of the vehicle until the brakes released. The car following closely behind me could have hit me, since there was no apparent reason to brake. I have been unable to reach a service advisor at my dealership to report it. The vehicle has not been inspected since this incident. There were no warnings prior to the incident.

The driver assist system was flashing for over an hour when I was coming back to ohio from florida on [xxx]. It was flashing and for a few seconds it would go off. This happened a few times and then it busted stayed on. It said to take to dealer to get fixed. This happened about a year ago put only flashed on for a short time. There must be a problem with this system that Honda has. I have done some research and it seems this is a Honda problem with the Cr-v. I have a 2023 Cr-v. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My Honda crv ex-l traveling roughly 40 mph along a straight and clear road did a sudden hard break once it reached an intersection that had a green signal light. I noticed there was a car stopped on the right side of the intersection. I saw in my console “braking” pop up message then it disappeared. My foot wasn’t on the brake pedal at all. I felt I was closed to being rear ended because I didn’t engage any braking at all. Time happened around 10:30 am.

Crv dashboard all warning lights illuminated including check engine and emissions system problem. I had to park my car and it smelled like gas. I immediately called Honda care and I took my car to unicars dealer on 03/11/2026 they provided a diagnostic report, report retrieved po172 fuel system bank 1 too rich and p219f no 4 cyclinder air fuel ratio variation. Despite Honda issuing service bulletin nhtda id 10220352, 10208090 and similar 22-002 for the exact same part failure 2017-2019 models, and despite manufacturer communication mc -10201454 specifically requesting failed injectors from 2021 models for investigation, Honda has refused to provide a warranty extension or goodwill assistance for this known defect. This is a premature failure of critical fuel system component that causes the vehicle to stall smell like gas, lose power unexpectedly posing a significant safety risk to the driver and others on the road. I opened a goodwill case # 16219868- after two weeks case manager said it did not meet their guidelines offered a $125 assistance. I have called unicars dealer service technician multiple times with no avail and no return calls. I finally walked into the unicars dealer yesterday 3/25/26 and made appointment to get vehicle fixed on 03/27/26. I am paying out of pocket for all repairs over $2000 dollars.

I was pulling into my son's driveway to park, and my vehicle did not stop when using the brakes. I struck the rear of his vehicle parked in the driveway. When put in reverse, my vehicle would not stop when using the brakes. My vehicle crossed the street, hit a tree, and eventually stopped when it hit a house. A video of the incident was caught on my son's ring door camera. I will submit screen shots of the video since the ability to submit a video is not an option.

Honda emblem & sensor stollen very easily from vehicle, took the thief seconds to take off. All features disabled! something this important & vital to the vehicle should not be that easily accessible to a thief! in researching, this issue has been reported on models in previous years! this is an extreme safety issue & should have been fixed & rectified with the new 2026 models. Will be reporting to all outlets!.
Vehicle: 2026 Honda Cr-v issue type: parts – design vulnerability / theft-related defect I am submitting this complaint regarding the front radar/calibration sensor located behind the Honda “h” emblem on my 2026 Honda Cr-v, which was stolen due to what I believe is a serious design vulnerability. The sensor is positioned in a manner that makes it exceptionally easy to access and remove, even without specialized tools. As a result, my vehicle was targeted shortly after purchase, the sensor was stolen, and my vehicle was rendered unsafe and undrivable due to disabled safety and driver-assist systems. This is not an isolated incident. I have since learned that this specific sensor placement has become a known and repeated target for theft, impacting Honda owners nationwide. The accessibility of this critical component creates an unreasonable risk of theft, repeated financial loss, vehicle downtime, and safety system failure for owners. To make matters worse, the replacement sensor is currently on national backorder, leaving me without my vehicle for an extended and indefinite period. I purchased this vehicle expecting reasonable protection of essential safety components and did not anticipate that a core system could be removed so easily and leave the vehicle unusable. I am requesting that Honda: 1. Formally document this as a design vulnerability 2. Review and redesign the placement and protection of the front sensor 3. Provide guidance, support, or remediation for affected owners 4. Consider goodwill assistance due to the financial and logistical burden caused by this design issue this complaint is being submitted not only for resolution of my situation, but to ensure Honda addresses a preventable design flaw that continues to place owners at risk. I look forward to Honda’s response and a meaningful resolution.
My father's Honda crv, which I was driving, suffered a computer reset due to a low voltage drop. This was, in turn, due to a failing fuel injector. The computer reset disabled many safety systems and core systems, including the parking brake (which is electronic), as well as adaptive cruise control, the tire monitoring system and blind spot sensors, tire inflation warning, hill start feature, and many others. There were no warning signs prior to the reset. After calling the dealership and reporting these issues, they still advised me to drive into the dealership for service. Upon doing so, they diagnosed the failing fuel injector. At this point, I had done research on the issue and found hundreds of similar reports concerning Honda crvs and models with the 1. 5l turbo engine. Despite warranty extensions for some vehicles, the dealership claims that our VIN is not covered under the warranty extension. This is obviously a manufacturing fault and a safety issue. Please investigate Honda and require them to, at a minimum, extend their warranties to all affected vehicles with this defect. We have detailed maintenance records at the same dealership we bought the car from. The vehicle is available for inspection, and I am including the dealership's diagnostic.
I was driving my crv and a deer was in the road. I hit the deer going 40mph. It blew out the whole front of my car, my sensors, headlights, both fenders and my hood are dented. No airbags deployed or any sensors alerted me of the object or leaving the roadway. Also when I hit the deer, I lost all steering on that moment. I had to turn off my car and then back on to get my steering to release.
Oil dilution, anifreeze disappearing, loss of power while driving on highway this past Saturday, all lights on dash constantly going off at least once a month, vehicle radar senses a car in front when there is none and the braking system stops my car on its own while driving (happened several times), oil changes are done every 3000 miles, head gasket blown due to flimsy bolts oem and a 1. 5 l engine with turbo. . . . Bad idea. . . . Turbo too strong for a 1. 5l. . . . Now im out a 2500 bill. . .
Collision mitigation braking system malfunctioned while pulling into a chic fil a parking lot at approximately 1800 on 12 December 2025. Entering the parking lot with a right hand turn, a car was exiting the parking lot and pulling up to their stop sign at the same time I was entering. Me and my wife were both in the car when the Honda crv we were in decided to absolutely slam on the breaks for no apparent reason. Both of us were stunned, I checked to see how close I was to the curb on the cars passenger side and I was clear. Wasn’t close to the oncoming car either. I was going a very conservative below 10 miles per hour , with being in a parking lot and all, and it was the hardest braking I’ve ever experienced while being in a car. It’s impossible not to think of the horrible consequences this “glitch” may have on my safety, others safety (who’s driving behind me), or someone’s savings of hard earned money. If they don’t trust someone to drive safely without this system, then don’t let them drive at all. The psychological effects of knowing your car is capable of glitching and potentially injuring or killing you with no ability to counter the cars action is not to be overlooked.
Multiple warning lights on including engine system, cmbs, electric parking, electric power steering, rdm and adaptive cruise control warnings caused by fuel system too rich. Either fuel injector not properly installed or issue with fuel pump. As per service bulletin 19-032, this is issue with fuel injector but VIN lookup not showing my VIN for recall and warranty repair. Please do needful.
On November 17, 2025 at 8:25am, the collision happened while I was parking my vehicle into the parking spot at my work place. The vehicle allegedly failed to stop and unexpected accelerated and subsequently crashed into the wall. The impact caused significant damage to the front of the vehicle triggered airbags deployments and hurt my chest and forehead.

The car suddenly would not go over 10 mph. All driver-assistance was lost. The dashboard was rotating warning alarms that all systems were not functional. It turned out to be the result of a faulty engine design that necessitated a head gasket replacement!.
I am filing this complaint regarding a serious safety issue with my 2018 Honda Cr-v. The vehicle is experiencing repeated and unpredictable malfunctions involving the dashboard display, warning systems, and automatic braking features while the vehicle is in motion. While driving at normal speeds, the vehicle has braked on its own with no obstacle, vehicle, pedestrian, or hazard present in front of me. This sudden braking occurs without warning and creates a significant risk of being rear-ended or losing control of the vehicle. The braking feels as though the collision mitigation or safety system is activating incorrectly. At the same time or on separate occasions, the dashboard display begins glitching and flashing multiple warning indicators. These include: • tire pressure warning lights appearing even though the tires are properly inflated • sensor warning lights activating randomly • alerts indicating systems such as collision warning, vehicle detection, or high-beam assist are malfunctioning • messages stating safety features are not working when there is no apparent reason these warnings often appear simultaneously and disappear later without explanation. The infotainment or instrument display sometimes flickers or behaves erratically when this occurs. This issue is extremely concerning because it suggests a failure in the vehicle’s electrical system, sensors, or safety-assist technology. The unexpected braking alone poses a major safety hazard, particularly at highway speeds or in traffic, as it could cause a crash. In addition, the false warnings make it difficult to determine when the vehicle actually has a real problem that needs attention. The malfunction happens randomly and is not tied to weather conditions, road conditions, or driving behavior. It has occurred during normal driving with no obstacles present and no reason for the safety systems to activate. Because this issue involves unintended braking and malfunctioning driver.
Front collision system is not working since purchase of vehicle(7/2025). It does not give any visual or sound warnings within the specified settings. System is marked "on" on settings. Have checked settings multiple times. Dealer checked and said system was "off" which is questionable diagnosis. No change since they turned"on"(/2025). Have had numerous events that should have triggered the system to display visual alert. Am familiar with the system as had same feature on previous crv. This is valuable feature to prevent accidents that is not working.
I own a new 2025 Honda Cr-v purchased from Honda of concord (hendrick automotive group, concord, nc). At around 220 miles, the vehicle’s dashboard displayed major safety warnings: “collision mitigation braking system problem” and “adaptive cruise control system problem. ” soon after, a very strong burning smell—similar to fire or overheated brakes—came from the vehicle. When I brought it to Honda of concord, the service advisor (ashley petisce) initially refused to accept or log my safety complaint. She only agreed to inspect the car after I stated that I would hold Honda and the dealership responsible if an accident occurred. Later that day, she also told me the burning smell was normal and would “go away after driving more,” which was alarming given the severity of the odor. After finally inspecting the car, the dealership found that both front rotors, pads, and calipers were defective and required replacement on this brand-new vehicle. When I requested that all related safety sensors (acc, cmbs, radar, and cameras) be checked after the brake repair, the same advisor said she would “only check what policy allows,” meaning only the brakes, and no further sensor or system testing would be done. This raises serious safety concerns. The initial refusal to inspect could have resulted in brake failure or fire. The defective brake components indicate a potential manufacturing defect, and the disabled safety systems create an immediate crash-risk condition. The dealership’s refusal to confirm sensor functionality after the repair leaves the vehicle’s safety systems unverified. I request that NHTSA investigate whether other 2025 Honda Cr-v vehicles have similar brake or sensor defects and whether Honda’s dealer network is properly following safety-reporting procedures.
I was driving on octuber 8th 2025. At 50 mph and the car made a sudden hard brake stop, and the brake orage light came on, the light that only turns on when it detect a car or something in front of the vehicle, the thing is nothing was in front of the vehicle, I am lucky that I didn't have cars behind me if not it would have cause a read end accident. This is very dangerous and I am super scared to drive the car now.
On October 7, 2025, I was driving to work. There was a steel metal plate of approximately 1 inch height lying flat on the roadway, presumably to cover up a pothole or other utility work. The steel metal plate was near an intersection where I was to be turning left. I was driving relatively slow as it was almost time to make the left turn, about 15-20 mph. When I was almost upon the steel metal plate my car braked to a complete stop because of the collision mitigation braking system. The intense deceleration has had my back in pain all day, and my neck is slowly starting to hurt as well. I feel like I was in a car accident from how quickly my car came to a stop over what appeared to be the steel plate tripping the cmbs. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety was at risk due to the back and neck pain I am currently experiencing. If a car had been driving behind me, I would have almost certainly been rear ended which could have created further injury. This feature cannot be permanently disabled and needs to be able to be. It's an undue burden on the driver of the car to have to turn it off every time the car starts. I am concerned someone else will drive my car and not know to turn off that feature and they will be injured or in an accident.
I purchased the 2025 vehicle in September of 2025. The forward collision warning has never worked properly and will kick out disabling the cruise control. I have brought this issue up at least 3 times at the Honda dealer I purchased it from (verne eide, sioux falls, sd). Each time I was told it this is a "known issue" and there is no fix for it. My only remedy was to disable the forward collision warning in order to be able to use the cruise control. My warranty expires in 6000 miles but they say they can't fix it. The dealer told me today that Honda is aware of the problem but has no fix for it. How is a know safety feature that does not work not considered a safety issue and a recall ordered? Honda has obviously chosen not to address this issue.
Driver assist systems disable themselves occasionally and seemingly at random. It seems that something is hyperactive or overly sensitive with the system. I have stopped to clean areas where camera is and it doesn't seem to make a difference or helps for a little while and then happens again. Unable to use cruise control for remainder of trip without calling dealership and them telling me to press and hold something to shut off driver assist in order to use cruise control. Another time my front collision warning flashed and disabled my cruise control while I was going down an interstate highway recently at 75 mph. Luckily no one was close behind me. I have no idea what it detected that would have set this off because there was nothing there. Not even a tumbleweed. The weather was somewhat windy and it had rained lightly earlier in the trip but was dry at the time this happened. Another time this past week, the lane departure flashed and did the shimmy with my steering wheel and I was not even outside of a lane. And then when I was on my own road going home and no one was coming I deliberately went outside the center lane and it did nothing. This is getting weird. I don't want to be a statistic. It's getting so I am spooked to drive it on a longer trip! I told the dealership during an oil change today but apparently there isn't much they can do? to me, this is unacceptable and Honda needs to better for it's customers.
I am reporting a serious safety issue with my 2021 Honda Cr-v involving the collision mitigation braking system (cmbs). On multiple occasions, the vehicle has applied the brakes suddenly and forcefully without any obstacle or vehicle in front of me. This had happened over 20 times since I bought the car on March 10 2024. The most recent incident occurred while I was driving at highway speed on a clear, dry day. The cmbs system engaged abruptly, causing the car to decelerate rapidly and slamed breaks automatically. There were no vehicles, pedestrians, or obstructions ahead. This unexpected braking could have easily resulted in a rear-end collision, endangering me and other drivers. I have kids in the back sit and the car behind us almost hit my car. I am afraid the result might have been much worse if there was truck behind my car. I took the vehicle to the Honda dealership, but they were unable to replicate the issue and did not offer a fix. They also mentioned that unless the problem could be duplicated, any diagnostic or repair fees would not be covered, despite this being a known issue under investigation by the NHTSA. I am aware that the NHTSA has an open engineering analysis (ea24-002) into this very issue affecting millions of Honda vehicles. I’m deeply concerned that this problem continues to put drivers and passengers at risk and believe a formal recall is necessary. I request that this issue be escalated and that Honda be held accountable for a fix before someone gets seriously injured or killed. Please contact me if additional details or documentation are needed.
I’m writing to report a recurring and increasingly dangerous issue with the cmbs (collision mitigation braking system) in my vehicle. The problem began shortly after I purchased the car. The system would intermittently flash the word “brake” and apply the brakes without any apparent reason. Initially, this was more of an annoyance, but it has since escalated into a serious safety concern. Most recently, while driving through an intersection with no vehicles in front or behind me, the system suddenly applied the brakes with significant force. This caused everything in the front seat to be thrown to the floor and forced me into the steering wheel. The weather was clear—no rain or sun glare—and there were no visible obstructions. Had there been a vehicle behind me, I believe a rear-end collision would have been likely due to the abrupt deceleration. I have brought the car to the dealership where I purchased it multiple times, but they were unable to replicate the issue and eventually asked me to stop bringing the vehicle in. I then tried a different dealership, but they also refused to investigate further since they couldn’t duplicate the problem. Even after disabling the cmbs system about a year after purchase, the issue has persisted. I’ve since learned that this issue is under investigation, and I want to formally express that I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle. I am requesting a resolution to this matter as soon as possible. Please let me know the next steps or if any additional information is needed. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
While driving the vehicle the collision avoidance activated on its own. The brakes automatically applied when I was not near a vehicle in front of me. When over railroad crossing and the system activated. My speed was around 28 to 30 mph. The system slowed me down to 24 mph. This has occurred twice. First occurrence was on [xxx], and second on [xxx]. Dash camera footage inside and outside is available to both occurrences. Ide Honda in penfield, NY was notified after the first instance. The vehicle was not brought in to have it looked at. The vehicle is scheduled for service on June 12, 2025 at ide Honda in penfield, NY. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

With 700 miles on our 2025 Cr-v ex-l owned for only a month, we had just exited from a 100-mile highway trip onto city streets near our home when the driver display suddenly started flashing warnings of failures for all driver safety systems, one after another, causing us to immediately stop in the middle lane filled with traffic and not knowing what to do or how to proceed. We pulled over at the next stoplight & quickly put the car in park, which stopped the endless warnings. When the stoplight turned green, we proceeded on the half mile trip home without further warnings. We have not moved the vehicle since the incident so have no idea if &/or when this might happen again. I have since found multiple online reports of the same type of event happening to other crv owners, with dealer repair shops "guessing" what is causing the problem & "fixing" everything from fuel injectors & sensors to engine harnesses and battery replacements to vehicle computer updates and cylinder misfires, often with the problem recurring anyway. See: 1. [xxx] 2. [xxx] a number of Cr-v owners reporting this issue say their vehicle immediately slowed to "limp mode" down to 35mph on the freeway, which was very scary and dangerous! since we were driving at city speed we cannot know if our car also experienced limp mode. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The adas system is malfunctioning, it kept blinking warning signs all at the same time.
The dash warning lights all come on when the vehicle is started. Numerous warning messages scroll across the dash indicating just about every system on the vehicle is malfunctioning. The collision warning system stops working, the lane change warning stops working, cruise control stops working. I have no idea what else could have stopped working that could mean the difference between life and death. My vehicle has had this problem for almost two years now. This problem stops after disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes then it comes back unpredictably. Honda dealerships just guess what the problem is because there are no definitive error codes. They randomly want to change parts like fuel injectors, onboard computer, brakes, battery, and others, and charge thousands of dollars and will not refund the money when the problem reappears. This problem is putting drivers at serious risk and Honda has done absolutely nothing to find and repair the problem. There are hundreds of reports of this problem online and Honda has not responded. Honda dealerships are making tons of money from this issue and doing nothing to solve the problem.

On April 7, 2025, we bought a new 2025 Honda crv ex. After driving it for a few weeks, we noticed that the collision mitigation braking system (cmbs) is not functioning. And another safety feature, the forward collision warning (fcw) system is visual only (not audible) and appears only when our vehicle is 5-6 feet from a vehicle in front. Obviously, this distance is insufficient to properly react in order to avoid an accident. According to the car manual, “the cmbs system can assist when it determines there is a possibility of your vehicle colliding with another vehicle in front…an oncoming vehicle in front, a pedestrian, or someone riding a bicycle. Cmbs is designed to alert you when the potential for a collision is determined, as well as assist in reducing speed, avoiding collisions, and reducing collision severity. ” with regard to the non-functioning cmbs, we brought the car back to the dealer several times to check on the lack of this system, but their service department could not detect the cmbs system either. They tested other new Honda crv ex models and even in those cars they could not detect the cmbs system. On June 16, 2025 (received June 18), we sent a letter to Honda headquarters (see attached) asking their assistance in addressing this deficiency. We followed up with 2 phone calls on July 25 and August 13. Unfortunately, to no avail. No response received. From a safety point of view, we are concerned by the lack of the cmbs feature as well as the short distance warning of the fcw system.
I was driving 50 mph, "brake" lit up, immediately my car slammed on the brakes while I had my foot on the gas pedal! cruise control was not on. Nothing was in front of me - no cars, snow, rain, plastic bag, etc. This has happened many times before. I thought it had to do with automatic cruise control, but it's much worse. I told the dealership and taken it in many times & I have written to Honda regional customer svc. What do I do now?.
Within the past 2 months, while driving the car I have experienced 2 instances with the cmbs system unexpectedly applying the brakes, even though there was no obstacles it's path.
On Sunday [xxx] and also other times before this, the vehicle will do a fantom breaking. It will slow down, brake, when no other vehicles are near by. On [xxx], the vehicle braked hard while I was in cruise control and traveling on [xxx] near baldwin, WI. At this time the adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and brake system warning lights came on. The vehicle was okay to drive the remainder of the way home. I took the vehicle to the Honda dealer on Wednesday February 26th. They reported that they found code p2583-49 millimeter wave radar fail. They said that they cleared snow debris off front bumper but there was no snow debris on bumper. It was 40 some degrees. I wanted to make you aware of this system problem because the unexpected braking is very hard and could cause an accident if a driver over responds. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
While driving on local roads to break in the engine, the car stalled from fifty miles per hour to five miles per hour for about five seconds at mile approximately 100 and 650. No cross traffic or pedestrians. The car detected and warned another car more than three hundred feet away at approximately five hundred miles and nine out of ten times fails to recognize a car a few feet away. The master mechanic did a ride-along and witnessed the collision mitigation system failure. Offered ‘re-aim’ as a solution. A week later, he confirmed that he did not expect it to fix it. It was to satisfy me. The service manager repeated the same a week later that the fix was to go through ‘motion’. The dealer is relying on computer codes and ignoring the human observation of the problem during the ride-along. The master mechanic suggested that if there should be a rear-end collision, it would be the fault of the car behind. That is not a risk I like to take with my daughter on a highway. The car sees obstacles that are not present and fails to see the obstacles that are a few feet away.
We bought this vehicle new in 2017 and now have about 78k miles on it. Since we have owned it there have been several (at least 7) occasions where we are driving along on the highway at 35-70mph (depending on the speed limit) and the emergency forward collision braking system suddenly applies the brakes for no reason. This has happened during daylight and nightime on the open road with no vehicles or objects anywhere in front of us or close to the side of us and, on a few occasions, nearly causing vehicles behind us to crash into us because the brakes come on unexpectedly and we are unable to do anything about it. Early on, we reported this a couple times to our Honda dealer and we were told, "that can happen if there is blowing rain or snow or even a bird flying buy, it is normal so don't worry about it. " well, it is something to worry about because it randomly happens again and again, and we recently almost had a huge accident on interstate 79 because of it! what is most bothersome about this defect in design or implementation is that the driver has no way of knowing in advance it is going to happen because it is a random occurrence with no rhyme or reason behind it, and there is nothing the driver can do to prevent it or minimize its effects! please, investigate this and force it to be fixed because lives could easily be lost from this phantom braking if none have been lost yet!.
On [xxx] at [xxx], I was driving down the road - there were no vehicles in front of me. The sky was clear and the sun was bright. There are several trees whose limbs extend high above the roadway causing a shadow to be created beneath them. All of a sudden, the collision avoidance system activated on my car. The "brake" light illuminated, the "chirping" sound associated with the "brake" light activation occurred, and the brakes were instantly applied slowing me from 40 mph to about 15 mph. There was no impediment (vehicles, pedestrians, animals, etc. ) in front of my car nor was there a car next to mine in an adjacent lane. The only logical conclusion I could come up with is this: the tree limbs overhead created a "shadow" on the roadway. This "shadow" was of enough contrast in brightness from the roadway, just prior to this incident, that the system concluded there was an obstruction of some type in front of my car. There was not another car behind me for about 100 feet or so, but had they been within the normal distance that driver's follow the car in front of them, I have no doubt the result would have been a rear-end collision. I have had several instances in the past where a contrast in reflected brightness of the roadway surface has activated the "brake" light on my dashboard and the "chirping" sound associated with it. All but one have occurred along a particular stretch of [xxx] just west of [xxx] (specifically, it is on the ramp from southbound [xxx] to westbound [xxx] at about [xxx] ). The car is scheduled to be inspected on Monday, January 27, 2025 by my local Honda dealer. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
