3 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/11/2020

While driving on the interstate, the steering wheel and brake pedal both locked up, so I was unable to control the car in any way. After the vehicle drifted across several lanes, it hydroplaned, spinning several times. At no point did any of the vehicle's many automated stability features activate, including abs. Had I collided with another vehicle I likely would not have survived. I was lucky instead to wreck in a ditch, at which point the vehicle returned control of the wheel and brakes, but still the abs did not seem to activate. Further, the side airbags deployed a second or two late, after the car was already uprighting from having rolled on its side. I suspect this scenario might be explained by a defect in how the software responds to sensor readings of slick road conditions.

4 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/19/2020

I was driving to the store I pulled up and parked reached over to get a mask out and the chime went off. So I looked at the dash and found that the display was saying power steering was disable then the vehicle stability control then the tire pressure monitor then the engine then the brakes and it just keeps chiming in displaying each message for all listed above. I restarted the car hoping it would clear the problem but it did not. Hope the warranty covers it and towing.

5 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/18/2020

All of the lights came on for my vehicle indicating that I have problem in all areas of the car. This is a 2018 Honda crv. This car is 2 years old and the relay module is malfunctioning. This car is too young to be malfunctioning at this point. Because I am at 37,000 miles, Honda is telling me that I am out of warranty of the car and I would be responsible for repairing the relay module which is a major expense. Again this car is too young to be malfunctioning. Honda needs to repair this car or give me my money back.

6 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/10/2020

The driver safety assistance system displays a series of failure notifications on the dashboard display. Includes but not limited to lane drift, rear collision alert, parking brake, cruise control and numerous others. This has happened several times while in motion or when parked. Pohanka Honda has attempted to fix this problem 3 times in the last 6 months. Once 3 weeks ago and the last effort was 12 hours ago. Car is still not fixed. An internet search shows this being a known problem that Honda has not been able to fix. I have receipts for all repairs but unable to upload.

7 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/01/2020

The car has starter issues, I've replaced battery, key battery and had mechanic look at relays, starter and push button starter, couldn't fix it. Also during rain, the car has leak problem on the roof area where the indoor lights are located. I've also noticed the wiper blades don't touch the windshield. I have tried different brands and still don't have the blades touch the windshield. I drive car to work 3 days a week and been patient about it. I purchased the vehicle used and had only 17000 miles. Bought gap insurance due to it being used car. When raining it's parked when it leaks during heavy rains. It's takes 5 to 10 attempts when trying to start. I believe the car was involved in accident but not reported. I purchased it in 2018, it has some body damage but didn't question it. Had bad tires and got new ones. Lately I've notice electrical issues when attempting to start. Look at all fuses. Still no starter fixed. Is there any way to check these issues, even Honda couldn't solve the starter problems.

11 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/29/2020

On Monday, June 29, 2020, I was driving home from target in college point. I was driving on 20th avenue, a two-way local street, and all of a sudden my car braked. The white van behind me stopped in time to avoid rear-ending me. Stepped on the gas, and the car didn't move, the engine just revved a little. Then all of a sudden the car jerked forward a little, and then began driving again. I made a left-hand turn and pulled over to make sure that nothing was stuck in the wheels, or under the car. There was nothing. I took it to my regular service station, to have them look at the brakes, and they said that there was nothing wrong with the brakes, that they were fine. The technician recommended that I take it to the nearest Honda dealer, and have them check the collision mitigation brake system. The first time I had brake problems was in an accident I was in 9 months after I purchased the vehicle. This incident occurred 8 months after the accident. I am concerned that we will be having braking problems every 8-9 months with the vehicle.

12 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/21/2020

A bunch of sensors including the radar, lane departure, collision detection was stolen from my 2018 Honda crv without the central alarm getting triggered. The black box below the Honda logo was broken, and the sensor/connectors were pulled out. The vehicle was parking in my driveway. Bridgewater NJ police complain #20154646.

13 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/18/2020

I have 2019 crv and I recently brought to dealerships for radar sensor replacement due to intermittent. About a month later now it picks up signals or objects then automatically brakes even with nothing in front of the car (ie. No obstacles in front of the car or objects). A person behind me honked the horn and about to hitting me from behind. I just talked to Honda dealerships and they have no idea how to correct the problem. This has occurred about 3 or more times now.

14 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/30/2020

1. Numerous people including myself have been affected by this car draining a brand new battery and leaving people stranded and needing a jumpstart. My car is currently at the dealership again to have this issue looked at, last time they told me I needed a new battery, now they can't give me that same reason since my battery is brand new. 2. My instrument panel wouldn't dim making it extremely bright at night and difficult to see the road. Honda had to replace the entire system. 3. My car randomly flashes a collision warning "brake" while beeping so loudly when there's actually nothing in front of me whether I'm on the freeway or side streets and this I believe is the most dangerous problem of all since my car has the ability to brake for me if it senses a collision, and my car braking abruptly for no reason could be what gets me into an accident!.

15 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/29/2020

We have a 2017 Honda Cr-v. On April 29, 2020, I was driving straight on a city street going about 20-25 miles per hour. There were no other vehicles or any other obstacle in front of my car. Without warning, and on its own, the car's orange brake warning light came on and the car was brought to a hard stop in the middle of the road. The items on the back seat were thrown to the floor and we were thrown forward in our seats in the front enough that the seat belts engaged. This was instant and then immediately the car resumed to normal operation. We notified the dealer and they indicated that they had not head of this happening before and that Honda did not have any recall for this yet. This was a frightening experience - fortunately no one was behind us, but suppose there had been or we had been on the highway with more traffic and large trucks.

16 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/28/2020

We were traveling during daylight hours, Tuesday, 4/28/2020, . Our speed was 35 mph. Our Honda crv suddenly came to an abrupt stop, the brake warning light came on in the dash and the steering wheel locked up. There was absolutely no traffic or obstacles of any type in our path to cause this. There is some type of faulty sensor causing this and it needs to repaired/replaced. The dealership denies that a problem exists. It is a common problem with crv's, 2017 & 2018 models. .

17 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/19/2020

All electrical system show error.

18 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/14/2020

This is the third time in past three weeks. Car starts and and all lights come on blinking on dashboard including brake, brake system, and continue blinking. Blinking lights continue when car is stationary or moving and on gravel road and paved roads. The first trip to local Honda and report was bad battery. Second trip and I was told connector box. This is third time and its weekend and local Honda closed. This is a huge safety concern. The date below is third time date.

19 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2020 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/14/2020

Soon before driving my new vehicle, in a preliminary inspection, I found extensive rusting around the exhaust pipes and system. The mechanic from the dealership said that was normal. Just before driving, the millage screen read as 000019. The dealer told us this is 0. 019 of a mile. Soon after I drove my car out of the dealership, I experienced 4 episodes of car becoming unstable, flipping from one side of road to the other. This occurred over a 23 miles of driving in high way. I called the dealership immediately. They dismissed it as normal. At arrival, after driving 23 miles, the mileage screen read 42 miles. The dealer then admitted the initial read was in fact 19 miles not 0. 019 mile.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/13/2020

The car does not start instantly when pushing the start button, it takes 4-5 tries to start.

21 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/29/2020

On February 29, 2020, I was pulling into a parking spot at a nearby park at a low rate of speed. I began to apply the brake to stop the car. As I applied the brake, the car rapidly accelerated with smoke coming out of the steering column. I continued to put my foot on the brake to stop the car, but it continued to accelerate. I steered the car away from a small lake but smashed into a pine tree. The airbags deployed and the seatbelt worked. I received trauma to the chest by the airbag. I was taken to the hospital for evaluation and then released the next day. The state trooper confirmed that the engine was revving when he restarted it. This Honda crv received a recall notice in July, 2019 concerning a problem with the wiring harness and steering column. The parts did not come until September, 2019 and I then brought the car in for the repair. The parts were replaced. Five months later the accident occurred with only 6,800 miles on the car. I went to speak with the manager at the Honda dealership about the incident and his attitude was polite but totally indifferent. He indicated that the dealership only sells cars, but he did not take responsibility that the dealership also did the repair on this recall. I left there with no satisfaction at all. The Honda crv 2019 is currently under investigation as to the cause of the acceleration problem. This was my first Honda and my last.

22 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/27/2020

I smell gasoline inside the car after I start the engine. The gasoline smell is not present on initial start up but happens when I run errands which requires many stops. It usually happens when the temperature is below 40 degrees. It is necessary to open windows to ventilate the cabin. I have also lost the sensors three times and my screen has gone black requiring me to reboot. I have talked to technician three times since owning this vehicle and they have had it in the shop twice for diagnostic testing. They are unable to determine the cause. I have gone online and this is a common and known problem with 2017 and 2018 crvs. Why haven't I received a recall notice to have the gas dilution fixed?.

23 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/04/2020

I have a 2017 Honda crv. This is the second time I had the same issue. All my warning light electric parking brake problem, charging system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, electric parking brake problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system (eps) problem, vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem, hill start assist problem. Are back on. When this happens for the first time dealership tole me their was an update to the system which will fix the issue. Month later I am having the same issue.

24 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/28/2020

While driving normally with no traffic or obstacles in front, all Honda sensing suite features randomly fail and trigger a series of warning messages flashing sequentially on the hud indicating a problem with the following: lkas, collision mitigation, braking, adaptive cruise control, and road departure mitigation systems. The brake pedal becomes stiff and brakes feel unresponsive but sometimes engage to stop the car even if stopping is unsafe, such as driving on a highway with no cars in front. This happens randomly in different environments at different speeds. Rain, sun, hills, traffic, no traffic, but it is difficult to replicate the issue. The sensors trigger a false positive thinking there is an imminent collision even if driving 35 mph on an empty road. It also triggers when following a car with warning tones and automatic braking. The car feels like it is rebooting itself in the middle of a false but self-induced crisis. I have narrowly avoided collisions because the car took over control when not needed, only to turn off all safety features and warn that there is a problem with the braking system. The dealership service department claimed it was a low battery, but replacing with a new battery does not resolve the issues. The service department then tried to claim driver error after deleting trouble codes, with no explanation how "driver error" can cause the same error messages to display on the hud as all of the plaintiffs of a class-action lawsuit say the same thing.

25 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/25/2020

Vehicle dashboard gave multiple warnings while in motion on the highway; the Honda sensing system no longer functioned at this time. Took to nearby independent mechanic who narrowed malfunction to ecm. Took car to dealer who replaced vsa modulator. After approximately 30 days, vehicle would not start; engine starts but shuts back off immediately. Vehicle was towed to dealer; body control module was replaced.

26 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/08/2020

On 1/8/20 when I started my car in the morning all warning lights came on before leaving the driveway, and stayed on all the way to work, and back. Then again the following morning. I called Honda on 1/9/20, they advised to come in sooner than later. Car is at Honda now 1/10/20, they are stating all codes may be due to two codes that need to be fixed: p0302 (fuel injection), which is covered under warranty and u0129 lost communication with braking system due to a/c control unit - which will cost me $1630 for a car with only 60,000 miles on it! of note: the car's emergency brake while driving has triggered a couple of times, and all warning lights have come on before in heavy rain.

27 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/02/2020

This happened in my driveway, where we have lived for over 25 years. The wiring used for the main harness is made with a soy base product. Not only mice or rats, squirrels and other animals can smell this out and destroy the wiring. I was told that one man has had his main harness replaced 3 times. If a soy based product is being used, then the repairs that will be needed over and over from rodents should be covered under a warranty for wiring for the entire life of the car!! this harness goes to control all of the information that is in the cars computer system. I am an elderly disabled senior on a fixed income. I can not afford to buy this car and then turn around before it is even a year old to have to fork out $1400. 00 for a new wiring harness, you knew this would happen, but did not care!!! therefore your product is highly defective!!! I will never buy another Honda car and I will definitely promote the problem of the wiring info to inform others not to purchase these vehicles!!! the poor service that you have given customers concerning this is totally wrong!!!!! by doing this they are creating a completely different problem. Mice, rats and rodents carry all kinds of diseases and by enticing them with soy based wiring, you are causing another problem that could be much worse for your customers, if they were to be bitten by these rodents!!!! why don't you people think about what would be worse, the environment or dead customers and the lawsuits from that!!!!.

28 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/23/2019

Honda 2018 cr v touring awd has steering issues on 3 separate occasion. Sept 2019, oct 2019, Dec 2019 when making a right turn the power steering pulled to the left into the wrong lane & the 3rd time almost into a ditch it took two or us to over ride that. During that 3rd time we also had 4 warnings: acc, lkas, cmbs and rdm. I had amber and red warning lights showing the brake system, lane departure, acc & forward collision warning illuminated on the dash. I pulled over and shut the engine off for 30 mins. Each problem taken into the dealer we could not duplicate, and your VIN # is not on the recall list. I also notified Honda still no answer.

29 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/16/2019

Was parked in a parking garage and as soon as I started the engine I received 4 warnings: acc, lkas, cmbs and rdm. I had amber warning lights showing the brake system, lane departure, acc & forward collision warning illuminated on the dash. I shut the engine off, waited a second then restarted it. All 4 warnings and warning lights popped up automatically. Was a clear dry day so I knew nothing was blocking sensors so I started my hour drive home thinking they would go away while driving. They never did. When I arrived home I turned the engine off, waited again a few seconds then restarted it to no avail as all lights and warning returned instantly.

30 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/09/2019

My windows and doors are open and unlocked, including hatchback. Has happened at least 4x's in last two weeks in chicago during holiday season!.

31 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 11/28/2019

We were driving a crv which is less than 6 months old. All of a sudden all safety systems failed. The breaks system, colliosion avoidence, lane assist, acc. All failed. Fortunately we were at 20 mph so we were able to safely stop the crv. We towed the crv to the dealership and they after 4 days were able to figure out that all the safety systems had failed as there was an electrical shortcurcuit which has blown the fuses and the control system. The cause of the electrical short was traced to exopsed wires in the rear view mirror assmebly which were damaged by an ornamnet we had hung. The reason I am complaining is I want to bring it to your attention of this manufacturing defect. 1. Lot of people hang ornamnets/ car freshner etc and this defect can cause a very serious system failure with all safety systems failing when the crv is in motion. 2. This crv is less than 6 m old so it also indicates to the poor designand manufacture . 3. Crv is one of the most popular suvs sold in USA so lot of people are at risk. 4. The design engineer knew the importance of these wires so have a protective rubber insulation but the insulation leaves a gap where the wires are exposed, and can be damaged. I have dramatic video showing this incident when we were drving and the exposed wires, the short cricuit damage and the ornament that they are blaming for this incident. I have the video that I could not load in this complain as the sytem would not allow it to be loaded ,but I would be pleased to share if needed.

32 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/10/2019

All warning systems for safety features lit up for no reason. Vehicle lost 80% of power and could barely get it home.

33 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/08/2019

Mitigation warning came on multiple times when I was driving in rainstorm on turnpike and made comment that collision warnings not available dealership told me that I need to turn system off when it rains or snows this doesn't make sense to me as this system is for safety the never occurred with my previous crv.

34 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

When I'm driving my Honda Cr-v 2009 at around 25 to 30 miles per hour I get a throbbing noise as if it were the transmission. I took it everywhere to see what's going on and no one could tell me whats going on. I bought this car brand new in 2009 two years latter they had to change my transmission in 2011 because of a similar problem. Please I need help to stop this throbbing I'm scared to drive the car. Because I feel I'm going to get into an accident when this happens. This happens everyday in the highway and regular streets. I don't know what to do this is my only vehicle.

35 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/29/2019

Vehicle was traveling westbound on I-90 in massachusetts in the travel lane at between 65-68 mph. The cruise control was not engaged; the lane keeping assist feature was not active. It was around 7:00 pm. No cars in the passing lane. A tractor trailer was about 200-300 feet in front. The dashboard chimed and displayed the following three warning messages: collision mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping assist system. The first time each message was displayed a chime sounded; the messages continued to rotate through the display for the next thirty minutes. The messages stopped when we got home and put the car in the garage in park. Additionally, the light for 'brake system' (near the temperature gauge) came on. I brought the car in today for service (it just happened that it was scheduled for an oil change); I told the service advisor about what had happened; the technician working on the vehicle said no codes were being displayed. He took it for a ride but could not get the messages to come up (it only happened one time). The service advisor said it was probably 'just a glitch'.
