Honda CR-V owners have reported 198 problems related to wheel (under the wheel category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Honda CR-V based on all problems reported for the CR-V.
This vehicle had a wheel separation while traveling at low speed. The right rear wheel separated from the car. The cause is excessive rust to the trailing arm and specifically to the subframe to which the trailing arm is attached. The car is available for inspection. I also have photographs that show the problem. The safety issue is clear. After separation the car cannot be controlled if in motion. This particular vehicle has not been inspected. The wheel separation was reported by me to Honda in north America, to "chris" in "client relations. " a case number was issued for my complaint, #00499145. An insurance claim was made, but the insurer denied the claim. My research shows that this model crv has been recalled in canada for this precise problem. In canada, Honda states that this model crv has "excessive" rust, leading to failure. Further, that the problem is not readily apparent on inspection, and in fact this car is inspected annually as part of north carolina licensure, and no inspection ever revealed the excessive rust threat. Here is the Honda press release: " January 23, 2019 Honda has voluntarily recalled approximately 83,953 2007-2011 Cr-v vehicles in canada to address potential excessive corrosion to the rear frame stiffener(s). On affected vehicles, one or both rear frame stiffener(s) may become excessively corroded over time. Such excessive corrosion may be more prevalent where a vehicle is regularly operated in regions where road DE-icing salt is frequently used during the winter season. Although a certain amount of corrosion is expected to occur from everyday operation of the vehicle, excessive corrosion to the rear frame may result in frame stiffener perforation and, in extreme cases, cause the rear-trailing arm to separate from the vehicle’s frame structure. A separated rear-trailing arm may cause the vehicle to be difficult to control, increasing the risk of a crash. ".

The tire pressure monitoring system does not work and can't be corrected. It will come on showing a tpm problem. This is not monitoring tire safety. On city streets it will remain correct for several miles. On the highway it registers the tpm problem after two to three miles.

I bought my car in 2021, and starting immediately I had issues with my tires going flat, my suspension jolting any time a bump was hit, my gear shift does not fully shift into park which makes it nearly impossible to get my key out of the ignition, I was given a spare key to someone else’s car and was never issued a new one, and dealership (carmax) has not made an attempt to help with repair on current safety recall.

Vehicle tpms system indicator has come on twice. The first time it cleared itself after 3 days and the second time it has stayed on for over two weeks and is still on at this time. Vehicle was in motion both times. This system indicator also automatically turns on the vsa and ceases to monitor tire pressures when it is lit up. If one needs to disable the vsa due to driving conditions, it cannot be done. Also, any tire that is losing pressure will do so without alerting the driver.

Milage at service 19,338. Tpms alert came on. Check air in all tires, rear tire had metal in the inner sidewall. Replaced one tire and balanced. Returning home milage 19,388. Tpms alert came on after hard reset by dealer. Returned to dealer. Milage 19,424 informed by service manager all four tires needed to be replaced to correct computer tpms. Really, computer can't calculate tire tread reset on one or two tires? had to return to dealer after tpms light came on driving home. Returned to dealer. Milage 19454. Hard reset again by dealer. I've never seen this on the internet for 2019 Honda crv all wheel drive. Any help with this safety issue for tpms?.

I purchased a new 2020 Honda Cr-veco in February 2020. On November 6 2020 I took the car to the dealership where I purchased it because of tire disturbance. Their diagnosis was that the front tires were worn to 4/32 and rear sworn to 6/32 and tires were feathered. Tires are bridgestone ecopia factory originalmtires with onlyn16,481 miles on them . The branding info on the side wall states these arev70,000 tread wear tires. Dealer advised to buy 2 new tires to replace the most worn and feathered ones and do nothing more : I became aware that oem tires are not warranted by the tire company because the are built to special specs from Honda. Also isn't using differently worn tires a safety issue on awd vehicles.
Apparently defective tire with tread/belt separation which resulted in a sudden loss of tire pressure. My daughter was driving the vehicle on us23 northbound at posted speed. She felt what she thought was minor tire unbalance, but suddenly the tire lost air pressure and she pulled over to the side of the road and had the spare tire mounted. The next day, I had all four tires replaced for safety since they had moderate tread wear at 50,000 miles and we are going into winter. I kept the defective bridgestone tire.

On Friday, August 28, 2020 I purchased a certified used Honda crv from Honda of joliet. After driving the vehicle for a few days, I noticed this sound coming from the rear driver's side. To be sure, I had my brother in law drive the vehicle. He mentioned that there may be something wrong with the wheel bearing or the brakes. On Monday, August 31, I dropped the vehicle off for service. When I purchased the vehicle, I had new bridgestone tires. I was confused and steve could not explain why the service dept. Recommended new tires. I go to pick up my vehicle on Thursday, September 3rd. When I picked up the vehicle, I noticed that the tires were different. The brand was advanta tires. Looking online consumer reports found the advanta had an average tread life of 44,500 miles compared with an average of 71,000 miles for all the tires. In addition, these tires have poor performance in winter conditions. After surveying the dealer lot, I am very confused as to why these tires were chosen as the other vehicles all have better tires (e. G. Continental, bridgestone, and michelin). Please see the attached photos. Even more frustrating, my vehicle now drives worse than before. . On Friday, I emailed the owners of the dealership, mike, horst, and rick korallus. Of the three, mike korallus responded and gave me the impression that the vehicle would be repaired. Today, the vehicle was picked up by service. After work I drove back to joliet to pick up my vehicle, hoping the tires had been ordered and replaced and the noise fixed. Unfortunately, this was not the case and javier once again gave me an inadequate explanation. There is no way these tires are making it through the winter. Now, I must make another appointment with a different dealer to make sure that my initial issue is resolved. In further research, no other tire retailer including walmart carries these tires.
Driving at 30 mph, just got off the highway doing 70 mph, almost at home when making a left turn the drivers side rear wheel broke off of frame, stuck in middle of the road, police had vehicle towed to shop where I was told that the frame had rusted out and car was basically totaled. Could have been killed if happened on highway and or killed someone else. Went online and saw that Honda canada had a recall for this exact reason. Someone is going to get killed in these 2007-2011 carbs. Why canada and not USA. This is a very dangerous situation!!!!!.
I was driving with the touring system on that keeps the vehicle between lines, when suddenly started raining and the car did a complete turn of the wheel making the car go crazy and spinning about 3 times while in the highway.

I bought my car-used (5-4-20) with 18250 miles on it 3 days later (5-7-20) took a short road trip. While on the highway, all of a sudden low tire pressure light went on and about 2 minuets later the sidewall went out. . . Thankfully I was already slowing down. It was the rear drivers side tire. A nice person stopped to help me change the tire. When he removed it the entire inside side wall looked like someone took a knife to it all the way around.
The vehicle has been running rough in the highway and rough when idling. We have chosen to keep it because we have trust in Honda's reliability. Five days ago, the car was running and the whole family was in it. All of a sudden, its engine sounded like 'junk' which never happened before. We were all nervous and confused and we were about 20 miles away from home. Our safety in the car was uncertain and the roads going home had varying speeds between 30 to 65 mi/hr. We know today that the engine has severe problem due to high oil consumption which is extremely disappointing.
The tire pressure warning light keeps coming on even though the tires are properly inflated. My daughter also has a 2016 Honda crv which she purchased new and just replaced the tires for the first time and her pressure light keeps coming on as well. I spoke to the Honda dealer and they said the tpms system is sensitive. Never heard of this and wondering if you are getting alot of complain ts regarding the tpms system on Honda vehicles?.

Bought brand new set of tires for my car and had them installed at walmart in arab alabama. Tires were dextoro dtr1 205/70r15 with less than 3000 miles, the left front tire's sidewall split. Walmart replaced. 492 miles later, right front tire's sidewall split on it, just like the first one. Walmart replaced. Did not run over anything or go over any curbing. Just driving down the highway, they just went flat. These tires are unsafe and need to be recalled.

Tire pressure sensor keeps going/staying on even though tires are properly inflated. Dealership won't cover cost to find problem and repair it. It is a known defect reported by many users.
I bought a 2018 Honda Cr-v in may 2018, it was new, with 717 dealer miles on it. It came with bridgestone ecopia hl 422 plus tires in size 235 65r17 as standard equipment. At 9,292 miles on September 11th I had an oil change and service which included checking tire pressures. On September 28th I went on vacation and came back October 5th. On a perfectly clear day, no hazards in the road, on interstate 26 north of florence, SC, I heard a loud bang, and at first I thought it was the car next to me backfiring. But then I heard the dreaded flapping sound of a flat tire on my vehicle. I pulled off the extremely busy interstate and proceeded to change the tire which was on the left rear. I then searched on my phone for the closest Honda dealership to try to get a new tire because I still had about 140 miles to get home, and did not want to risk it on the doughnut spare tire. I found one in sumter, SC, about 25 miles off the interstate and went there. They put on a new tire which cost me $167. 52. I told the manager that I believed it was a defective tire. He said let's look on the inside to see if there is any metal or other debris. There was none. Just an inner sidewall blowout. And no damage to the tread. He bagged the tire up for me. And I continued home. Monday October 7th I went to my Honda dealership and explained to the parts manager what had happened and he took the tire. He agreed that it looked suspicious. He got no positive response at all from bridgestone, and I called bridgestone myself. I got stonewalled and got no satisfaction. But he kept digging and finally got someone to offer what they said was half of the value - $45 - but he told them no, let's send the tire in and make a determination after you receive and inspect it. I got a check today $63. 01 for my defective tire. The tire sells online for $159. They know these tires are dangerous.
Driving in town going to store smelled something like dead animal or some hair burning horrible smell almost got sick and or passed out. Next couple of times I drove it the smell got better but I told my son. I couldn't drive it anymore cause I was getting sick. Then the smell went away and oil light came on saying I had 15% oil life left. Me and my son smelled oil stick and it smelled like gasoline. Tires were worn on the inside on all four at 11,940. Miles. I had to pay my own money to balance them again.
Loud noises in both rear tires. Tires spec for 80,000 but the mileage on the vehicle is only 26,767 mileage.
Tl- the contact owns a 2019 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle turned left instead of right and that caused the vehicle to crash into an unknown part of another vehicle. There was no police report. The contact sustained injury that did not require medical attention. The vehicle was damaged but was not towed. The contact stated that prior to the crash, the she called an unknown dealer who stated that the failure was not a life and death situation. The dealer told the contact that she would be called back. The contact was not called back. The contact later received a notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v694000 (equipment) the dealer was not called. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000. Fe.

The contact owns a 2008 Honda Cr-v. While driving 55 mph, the rear passenger wheel detached from the vehicle without warning. The contact managed to veer the vehicle to the shoulder of the road and called the police. A police report was not filed. The police towed the vehicle back to the contact's home. There was no damage to the vehicle. The contact called his insurance company and was informed that an investigation would need to be conducted by the manufacturer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided the contact with a case number. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.
I had my tires rotated and car serviced on 6/21/19 and on 6/22/19 my tire pressure light came on after driving only 2 miles on the interstate. I pulled over and checked my tires and all were at 40lbs. I reset the tire pressure censure, and a few days later I was yet again driving on the highway and the light came on again. I check my pressure again and all were 40lbs. Before my tires were rotated my light never came on, and now it comes on at least 2-3 times a week. Not sure if it is the sensor that has gone bad or if there is something wrong with how the tires are rotating. My car has 34,500 miles on it. Check tire light only comes on while driving straight; no pot holes were hit and the roads were not uneven.

I was driving my Honda Cr-v on a highway using the hov lane. At some point while driving normally the front driver side seemed to have collapse and the car started pulling strong in one direction towards the center divider line. With two hands on the wheel the pull was so strong that I would barely control the car and keep it from crashing into the divider. Barely missing the divider I managed to stop the car on the shoulder luckily without anyone colliding into me. If I was driving in the middle lane this could have prompted a major accident. I didn't go over any pothole or obstruction on the road. No one hit me nor did I hit anyone. No airbags inflated nor warning indicators appear on the console. I called the police and once on the scene the police swept the highway to determine if there were any potholes or obstacles that could have caused the incident. They confirmed that non existed and that the road was deemed safe. There was no police report produced as the police deemed the incident to be a non accident and instead a breakdown since there was no collision or altercation. When looking at the car damage there was significant damage to the wheel, wheel well, rim which split up vertically, rotar, suspension, wheel caliper, brakes (which fell off in pieces) and basically everything attached to the driver side wheel. The vehicle needed to be towed as it was not operational at that point. When brought back to the Honda dealer the dealer could not find anything reported on the computer. There only explanation was that the car was involved in an accident. The dealer did not want to further investigate or find fault even though the vehicle was still covered under the warranty. This incident seemed to be a mechanical malfunction that occurred that almost took my life and could be a potential safely concern for other Honda Cr-v drivers if not properly investigated.
While driving my passenger rear wheel collapsed. Got it towed to riverside Honda in marquette mi. Was told the wheel rusted through the frame. We were lucky we weren't killed. After researching I found canada has recalled 83,000 of the same year make and model. They were offering to buy back or fix vehicles if possible. I was told it can't be fixed. Honda USA corporation says we do not have any such issue. I dont believe it. What action do I take as they said its my problem ?.
Our crv has excessive uneven tire wear, at 17000 miles the tires were worn bald on the inner corners mainly on the rear of the car, the tires are approximately 7 inches wide and the inner 2 inches are bald , you cannot see this unless you bend down and look under the car from the rear , the outer corners wich you can see easily have sufficient tread wich can cause a serious saftey problem if s blowout occurs started a complaint with Honda and got nothing accomplished, they gave me a run around and blamed the tire manufacturer ,it simply an alignment problem that they refuse to adress.
Driving my car. Heard a noise, stopped as soon as I could. Probably about 1. 5 miles. I had a flat. It wasn't one of those big flat tires you get and you know it within 10 seconds. My tire pressure light never came on. As soon as the spare tire was put on, the pressure light came on. I got a new tire at the closest tire place. It wasn't the same manufacturer, but it was the same tire specifications, because they didn't have the exact tire. I've done that many times in the past, with no problem. Well, the tire pressuring system light kept going on. I kept resetting it and it would go on again. I took it to the dealer. They said they reset it. 10 minutes after leaving the dealer as I was driving, the light came back on. I went back to the dealer the next day. They told me it wasn't the exact tire, and I would have to replace my new tire. I did that. Two weeks later, the tire light (tpms) was on again. Went back to the dealer again. They told me that it had to be reset again, and that it should be reset 3 times really fast. (is this in the manual? is this a real thing?) it hasn't come back on. What concerns me, is the safety of driving with a flat or low tire pressure with no warning. And it's scary driving with the light coming on every 10 minutes. How am I supposed to know when there's a real emergency? if a warning light doesn't come come on with a flat, when is it supposed to come on? when you don't put on an exact matching tire? when you don't reset it 3 times really fast? 10,000 miles on the car and it had to be brought in for service 3 times in a 2 week time span.
Sensor indicating low tire pressue will come on randomly while driving down the road at any speed. There is no issue with tire pressures when this occurs (I stop and pull off the road and check each tire with a pressure gauge). Dealer states this is a known issue as the "tire sensors" actually work by calculating the rotation of each tire, if they don't match, sensor goes off indicating low pressure. Per dealer, system gets "confused". Only way to fix is to pull over and stop, then use a special "hard reset of the tire pressure system" that is not explained in the vehicle manual. Dealer states Honda has no fix. Safety concern is you do not know if you really have a flat tire or not, causing you to pull over and check tires with a pressure gauge in the middle of traffic.
Honda Cr-v 2016 touring vehicle travelling at 55 miles/hour on a 57 north freeway with a driver & passenger started pulling to the right (out of carpool lane), uncontrollable and erratic behavior. Immediately both front airbags (driver side & passenger side) and driver side side-airbags got deployed (curtain airbags). The driver tried to control and steer the vehicle towards the left curb/divider to avoid getting into incoming traffic to stop the vehicle. The vehicle hit the divider and took a 180 degree turn and stopped. Accident location: 57 north California, 1/2 mile from katella avenue vehicle condition: front both tires flattened, rear right tire flattened, front both airbags and driver side side-airbags deployed, vehicle front and side damaged.

Tl - the contact owns a 2018 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while her son was driving 30 mph, he made a right turn and the wheels seized. The vehicle struck a guardrail head on. All air bags deployed and a police report was filed. The contact's son sustained no injuries and no medical attention was required. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000. Jc.
My car is less than 39,000 miles and I had to change all four tires which were giving me issues since I purchased less than 2 years ago. January 3rd my car would not start. Jan 4th and 5th again my car would not stop without a jump. I have had nothing but electrical problem, radio blinking and not coming on or brake system engaging without braking etc. Since I have purchased. I have only taken to Honda dealers only to be told issues not covered by warranty and no explanation why I need new tires and new batter with a car less than twp years and under 39,000 miles. There are many complaints regarding batteries and electrical problems and my 2017 car is among them.
Michelin defender xt green x tires are cracked and separating around all the tread. Only have 35,000 miles on tires and are less than 4yrs old. Some cracking is also on sidewalls but mostly in the tread. Also have vibration at 60+ mph due to tread separating from tire. This is the 4th vehicle I have had these tires dry rot and cracking. I have replaced all of my tires. I did the michelin warranty on one vehicle and it was a nightmare, no dealers honor the warranty and they lie to customers saying tires are safe. Please have michelin recall the defender green x line of tires before someone gets hurt. Dot codes: 225/65r17 b93t02bx1114 b93t02bx0914.

The tpms turns on about very three months. I noted this to be happening while driving at 55 mph on a highway. I usually have to stop in order to find out if I have a flat tire. In all cases it was a false alarm that stays like that until I take it to be looked at by the dealer. They do get it fixed but it keeps happening over and over, and they say there is not much they can do to have it permanently fixed.
The problem has been happening since the car was purchased new. The car continually chews up tires on the rear end of the car. For example, we purchased a brand new set of tires in July of 2017, and already they are cupped/chopped. I had the car into our local alignment shop as we are preparing for a trip, and less than 10,000 miles later are so out of balance that they are showing signs and making noise to the point of I questioned what was happening. I suggested that they do a four wheel alignment and was told that the camber is way out of adjustment and that I needed a camber bolt kit. The car only has 84,000 miles and has been well cared for and no accidents. Here is the biggest issue. The car comes stock with rear control arms that are non adjustable. There is no way to control camber on the rear wheels. There are adjustable ones that can be purchased, but that costs consumers a ton of money. $500 or so total that is not covered by any warranty. The obvious danger is excessive wear on tires that potentially could cause bad steering, braking, and/or control of the vehicle. As far as my experience, I have had to be extremely vigilant about making sure my tires are not in bad shape 100% of the time. The dealer has basically walked away from it, in spite of the fact I purchased an extended warranty which is still in effect. I my opinion, the Honda corporation should have a recall that would address the issue by replacing the stock nonadjustable control arm with an adjustable one. This could save them a ton of issues down the road and make their cars much safer.
