Vtec oil pressure switch low voltage threw a code so I replaced entire mechanism, I don't know the name buy removed wire snaps and three bolts and replaced with brand new, and reattached. Unplugged battery till all reserve was gone. Plugged back up [battery] drove, but still as I hit 3000 rpm and vtec turns on shoots check engine light and vehicle jukes. I have already changed oil, made sure proper level proper weight had flushed as to clean out any debris. Made sure all connections were tight, but nothing fixes problem.

When im going more than 35 miles the car is trying to stop. The vsa & engine light is on and took it to mechanic but still have the same problem. I have seen a lot of persons with the same problem. The odyssey has a recall with the same problem. Could you check if this a manufacturer problem. I can't drive my car am afraid something worst could happen. I had to buy another car and don't know what to do with the Element.

Took a well maintained 1994 Element we had owned since new to the Honda dealer for maintenance and was informed that the block was cracked and had been seeping coolant for a long time. This cracked block was undoubtedly a hazardous manufacturing defect requiring expensive repair and replacement.

My husband and I have both, independently, experienced our Honda Element revving its engine and surging forward when we apply the brakes. Please watch for the copy of a letter I am sending to NHTSA by usps certified #7011 2000 0001 6765 8433.
Was involved in a car accident on 8/22/12. I was driving a 2007 Honda Element awd at 55mph. An accident happened in front of me which resulted in me hitting a truck and a van hitting me. The airbags never deployed. . . Not one! I am upset that I bought this car because of the safety measures and when I needed them, nothing happened. Both the driver and passenger suffered very sore necks, shoulders and backs! I want a investigation done on my vehicle to see why the airbags never deployed!!! thankfully nobody was killed due to some malfunctioning airbags.
The contact owns a 2007 Honda Element. The contact stated that the ignition failed. The contact stated that she tried to start the engine but nothing would happen. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for inspection. The dealer and manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000.
Air conditioning condenser - cut on air conditioning after winter, would not cool. Taken to local dealer, bill gatton Honda in bristol, TN. Told road debris through condenser, not covered under 3 yr/36,000 mile warranty (we had also purchased extended 100,000 mile warranty). This vehicle is driven lightly around town, no high speed highways (interstates, etc. ). Aware that Honda has had class action litigation for identical complaint with other Honda vehicles (odyssey van, Acura, civic, etc. ), therefore, it is obvious that this is a design in the automobiles, and should be covered under the manufacturer warranty. Second repair that has been denied under new vehicle warranty. Other denied damage is headliner pulled away on driver's side. Repair cost, with Honda part, is atrocious; warranty is voided is use off market part. Consumer caught between rock and hard place.

Excessive vibration where you can see the stick shift shimmy and shake. Both driver and passenger can feel car vibrating like it has a bad wheel alignment but wheels have brand new tires and are aligned. Mechanic says it seems to be a broken motor mount. I have read on several Honda and Honda Element community forums reporting that motor mounts break with low mileage. I believe this is a defect.
2005 Honda Element (2 wd) has no heat at all while a/c system is working fine. . Come to find out, Honda released an original TSB of 07-076, and since then replaced it with TSB 08-097 which was "failed heater core". It seems the manufacturer used wrong coolant and so it cloggs up heater core. My car has been in local dealer for 5 days and they tried to blame on everything outside of the heater core and also changed everything except heater core, and still no heat. Finally, they acknowledged the heater core is plugged up and it has to be changed out; however; they now tell me that my VIN number does not fit into their TSB and therefore, they won't honor the TSB. Called Honda America and spoke to 1st level, 2nd, and up to 3rd which marla f. (foster) and eventhough this is a common manufacturer defect (also cannot be introduce failure by the consummer), they still won't honor the repairs. TSB calls for 10 hrs and parts which could run into thousands for common identified and confirmed by Honda. It's absolutely absurb that they used wrong products and now causing problems down the road which they are making consumer to pay them for repairs. This clogged heater core not only gives no heat but also could causing car over-heating problem which can damage the engine and transmission at the same time.
Tumblers in ignition becomes mal aligned, key will not insert or turn, engine will not start. This is not part of the current active recall on the ignition system. I have replaced the ignition lock cylinder twice in 3 years. It is a common occurrence, ask any one who drives a 2003 Element, they've replaced this part too. Honda only warranties the part for one year.
While driving on I-5 going through grants pass in oregon uphill, my 2003 Honda Element suddenly decelerated from 65mph to barely 35 mph. Car has been in the shop for two days, there were no codes indicating an issue with the transmission. The mechanic recommended it be seen by a engine mechanic. Car is still experiencing the issue after a transmission flush, new spark plugs, fuel system cleaning. This is a major safety issue, the car only has 82500 miles on and has never been placed in storage.
Car dies when driving. No prior warning before it dies (such as illumination on panel). Car rpm's rev up and down while in park. Windshield cracks.
About 3 - 4 times per year, the car engine races without any reason why. It is necessary to stand on the brake & shift into neutral; and then wait til the engine stops racing (usually 15 - 25 seconds). Until 2 days ago (8/21/2014), it has only happened when being alone in the car. However, on this occasion my wife was a passenger. She was quite upset over this there is usually no indication when it is going to happen, but on this occasion, the brakes did not seem to be working properly when I pulled into a store parking lot. Came to a stop sign, and the engine began it's racing. Shifted into neutral and waited about 15 seconds, while also applying the brakes. The car then returned to normal. Except for noticing some difficulty with the brakes, this was the usual racing incident that has been encountered over the years. Since it has only been me in the past in the vehicle, I did not feel a need to report the incidents.

Lost power on highway doing 65mph,first time dealer stated it was low on oil, vehicle only had app. 10000 miles, second time vehicle has 60000 miles and same thing while driving, all forums talk about vtec oil pressure switch, the power is lost when it kicks in and it could happen without warning even while passing a vehicle and then you have to pull over to get out of the way,the vehicle is a 2004 Honda Element.
From about March of 2007 we started having problems with our brakes, they had been changed about twice a year. We thought cause we drive around in a city, the brakes wear out faster than normal. Then 2 years later we were having problems starting the car. We had to get it jumped start- it several times, before we purchased a new battery. Though it has been a year from the time we got a new battery, we still had problems starting the vehicle. We have taken it in to the auto shop several time, and they could not find the problem. Then the gear would not shift into drive and we took it in to get that fixed, and now it does not start all. It is not the battery, because the dash board lights still come on. At 74,0000 miles we should not be having so many failures with this vehicle!.
The consumer noticed oil running out of her vehicle while parked in the driveway. The consumers son inspected the vehicle and found that the oil plug was missing. The consumer informed the dealer and waited on the tow truck to transport the vehicle to the dealer.
My 2004 Honda Element (SUV) burst into flames while under operation. This vehicle had less than 10,000 miles of use. On the date mentioned at about 1450 hours I and my wife were occupants in the vehicle which had been in use for about five minutes. When a cloud of smoke began to eminate from the lower enging compartment. Upon examination, a fire was discovered in the lower portion of the engine compartment near the fire wall. Police and fire units were summoned. They responded, but not before the front end of the vehicle had been consumed by flames. I have read today that this appears to be a chronic problem with Honda SUV's. I was not given notice of this condition and I am advising you that this proclivity to burn, in conjunction with rear doors that cannot easily open. Is a highly hazardous contition. This will ultimately reslult in serious injury or death. N why isn't Honda notifying anyone or recalling the vehicles? please respond.
