Power Window Problems of Honda Element

The front passenger window regulator went out. Window dropped down into the door panel.

While driving in traffic at 40 mph on paved city streets, the passenger side window suddenly fell into the door cavity and was left inoperable. Had to continue to drive the car in cold weather without a side window. Took to dealer for repair of window regulator. Dealer had vehicle for 24 hours. Repair was it appears this premature failure could occur at any time, leaving the car vulnerable to weather and break ins. This should not happen to a car of this age. Repair was $244. 32.

On Saturday, September 10, 2011, upon starting the ignition of my 2005 Honda Element, I noticed smoke emitting from the power window switch on the driver's side door. After hearing some crackling noises from the power window switch, it soon popped into a small fire which went out on it's own, proceeded by more continuous smoke.

Lowered passenger side elec window 2004 Honda Element. Window went down, will not come back up.

Honda Element (2006) has a power window regulator failure, driver's side (front left). Diagnosed as a problem with the window regulator cable. Repair expected to be around $300 - $400 at a local repair shop ($500 plus at the dealership). This same Honda Element has a cracked windshield that spontaneously cracked while driving down a toll road with no other cars within 20 car lengths and no visible rocks or other objects in the roadway. Honda accord (1998) has all four windows with power window regulator failure. Each repair is just under $500 with tax at the dealership.

Power window regulator on front left window had to be replaced 11/2009. Power window failed to go up, diagnosed as broken window regulator cable. 5/2010 front right window failed to lift. Seems to be same problem with power window mechanism.

Drivers side window regulator fails with loud bang and window falls into door while driving. This has happened to my vehicle twice, once in April 2008 and again February 2010. On-line research with "element owners club" indicates this has happened to many others.

I have a 2006 Honda Element. The last few months I've had to replace both power side windows because the window regulator 'came apart. ' the car is only 3 years old and for both windows to stop working around the same time makes me think it's a manufacturing situation.
