2007 Honda Element. Consumer states several problems with vehicle to include transmission failure
the consumer stated the transmission first failed at 15,000. The defect the dealer apparently repaired between March 22-26 and April 2008 has returned. Recently, the vehicle started to shudder once more under light acceleration between 30-35 mph. The consumer also stated there was a persistent clicking sound coming from the front passenger seat. In addition, a malfunctioning radio console was replaced. The problem returned with the front passenger seat. The srs light illuminated on an intermittent basis and when it did illuminate, it stayed on for extended periods of time.

Driver's seat rocks back and forth.
Front driver's seat is loose and it rocks. Dealer fixed it once under warranty and now wants $ 130 to fix the problem. No injury yet, but why want until one occurs. There is a website of other Honda owners with the same problem. You do not list the Honda Element in your complaint system for 2003. Shame on you.

I am the original/only owner of a 2004 Honda Element. Under normal driving conditions, driver's side seat has become very loose on seat track and now "rocks" on its track. Seat is so loose that that control of vehicle is compromised when driving. Honda service inspection indicates seat bushings have failed and need to be replaced. Check online shows problem is widespread for this model and year. Indications are that even following repairs, seat will become loose again, pointing to safety design flaw. The current mileage is approximately 50,000. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
2006 Honda Element problems:
I bought this Honda because of the reputation for a solid car with very little maintenance issues. This car has had more maintenance issues than any other I've ever owned!
1. Driver's seat rock. The seat has rocked left to right since about 30,000 miles. I don't think I should have to pay $300 to fix a safety issue that Honda obviously knows about. 2. At about 60,000 miles the air conditioning stopped working-that was a $700+ repair for a new fan motor . 3. I have gone through about 5 windshields in 90,000 miles. Good thing I always get zero deductible glass coverage! the last wasn't even due to a crack, but because it became so pitted it was impairing visibility. 4. This vehicle has a huge blind spot in the driver's left corner. I have had countless near misses-especially pedestrians in parking lots. The blind spot is large enough to block vision completely.

Owner of a 2005 Honda Element. The driver's seat rocks back and forth, getting progressively worse and now rocking left and rock. This presents a danger when trying to accelerate and brake during driving. Since the problem is worsening I feel that at some point my seat will definitely come unmounted causing an accident. Honda's local dealership and corporate office refuse to fix this issue for free. This could result in a multitude of injuries - even whiplash from jerking of the vehicle. A service bulletins was issued yet Honda claims they do not see this as an issue even though there have been numerous reports and complaints. This is a constant issue for me when driving especially during stop and start and turning.

The driver's seat in my '04 Honda Element ex rocks back, especially on the right side. It feels like it is going to come right off the track or that the bolt will come completely loose causing the seat of move in some unsafe anner. This seems to me to be a very dangerous situation, especially if involved in a crash where it might just shear right off. The seat was loose when I purchased the used car. The dealer tightened it and never mentioned that this was a recurring, unsolved problem. I told the salesman that I would not buy if the seat was not fixed. Within two months it was loose and rocking. The dealerships technician said it was "a problem with this model. " that is an unsatisfactory answer. Honda should fix this problem without charge.
My 2003 Honda Element ex driver's seat rocks back and forth whenever I stop or start moving forward. It turns out many other Honda Element owners are having this issue. . Read more...
Driver's seat is rocking on Honda Element 04. I am the first owner of this car. The seat began rocking while still in warranty but it wasn't "bad" enough to require repair - finally the dealer "replaced a bolt" 11/02/06. All further info based on repair date because I didn't record original rocking date. It began rocking again and the dealer "will do his best" to do a non permanent "bolt fix" again, but it really requires a complete replacement of the back or the seat and the parts that hold it to the floor "because we can't get the component we need separately" - it's out of our hands - the full repair - over $900. 00! for something Honda knows is poorly designed. Completely unsatisfactory and reason enough never to buy a Honda again. I thought it was just a bolt - but it's the entire design - and can't possibly be safe. They are going to 'rig it" again. Every Element accident with injury to the driver should require a review of this defect - maybe when someone gets hurt there will be some action taken.
Driver ran into stopped car in front of him. Speed was sufficient to flatten the car up to the front of the engine - little damage behind that. Car is 2006 Honda Element. Air bag did not deploy. Safety belt did not lock up quickly - driver struck the steering wheel, and chest was bruised by top of steering wheel. Passenger seat moved to the full forward position, almost touching the dashboard. No significant injuries resulted, but safety systems did not work as expected.
Own a 2005 Honda Element. At 13k miles both the front seats side seams have torn. We are not hard on this car and are shocked how soon the seats have worn out. We took the car back to Honda and they did change the seats, but deny there is a problem overall with the seats. . Read more...
Honda Element - driver seat started rocking 7 months old. Unsafe. Clearly some is loose and there are the complaint is out there and real. This is truly unsafe and should be embraced ASAP.
The driver's seat in our '04 Honda Element ex is actually rocking back and forth and sideways! it feels like it is going to come right off the track. This seems like a very dangerous situation, especially if involved in a crash where it might just shear right off. This began within the first 6 months of owning the car and has progressed. We have heard many others complain about this problem, so we know it's not isolated. All the dealerships have told us it would cost us to have it fixed, since there is no recall. This is crazy!.
Honda has a TSB for the driver side front seat. The issue is the seat rocks as you accelerate or brake like a rocking chair. I had my local dealer fix the seat under the TSB, however soon after it was fixed the rocking returned and I was told the work is no longer covered. The other issue is the bottom of the seat where you sit along the left side is worn and the fabric is cracked. I realized the wear and tear is above the seat base where the TSB repair was made. The wear and tear is from the inside of the seat, not from the driver. I was told that it isn't covered and I tried to explain how it is directly related to the seat rocking. None of the other seats have a problem and this is along the seat from the front to back, same as the base of the seat where the rocking takes place. I would like this investigated and the base of the seat recalled. Thank you.
Driver's side seat material/its structure or both caused the driver to have severe back pains. Dealership indicated that the seat was poorly structured. Consumer spoke to 5 other owners of this vehicle and they all are experienced the same back pains.
