I heard that some Honda models between 2003 and 2007 may qualify for a paint recall. The paint job on the roof is the major issue. It's been peeling and the paint is almost gone on the roof and getting rusty. It's a safety concern because my car now looks pink and that would not be helpful to law enforcement if anything happened because my car is documented as being red.
All Honda Fits have a massive water penatration issue. Water leaks from even small amounts of water from rear lift hatch from cracks in the weld seems an into car along inside on both sides in to the wheel well with spar tire. This causes high humidity and consequently massive damageing moister and rusting inside. Found to compromise electrical for tail lights and hazzard lights. Also causeing massive sweating of water vapor that leads to obscure of ability to see through rear window and through all windows. Also massive threat to elderly and children and immune compromised people because toxic mold growth is likely to form. Honda refuses to repair say they don't care how many die because of issue. Children almost killed due to inability to see through rear window.
~tl the contact owns a 2007 Honda Fit. The contact stated that water entered into the cabin of the vehicle on the rear passenger side. The contact stated that the water accumulated in the rear wheel well on the passenger, and the rear seat and carpeting was soaked. The contact stated that the failure was caused by a fracture along the weld for the rear hatch hinges. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.
I had water collecting in the spare tire compartment and I started to research on line discovering that this is a common issue with the 2007 Fit (what I drive) a hair line crack/fissure in the weld on the back rear weld near the hatch hinge on both sides that moves up towards the roof weather striping. I was able to reseal it myself (time will tell), but this has to be a huge safety issue. Mold and mildew only could be dangerous let alone what structural damage it could be causing long term. A possible recall worry imo.
Car has developed cracks on the welding around both front struts mounts. This are clear signs of metal fatigue on a car that is less than 10 years old. Car has zero accident and there is no rust or signs of any other factor that may had affected the structure. This cracks are a threat to the driver's safety because the strut may perforate the body/frame of the car and hit the windshield while on the road. This cracks are very hard to find due to the location were are developed, and there are not other factors that may warn the driver about the issue. This metal fatigue cracks look exactly as the described by multiple owners on the rear of the car. The big difference, is that the cracks on the rear of the car only cause water to leak into the trunk, with is not a big safety concern. Honda stated that because the car is already out of warranty there is nothing they can do about it.
Driver's door lock will not open/close/lock with key. Lock will open/close with inside electrical switch. Passenger and back door works fine. Mileage is 65,000. Not every involved in an accident/ flood etc.
The vehicle leaks. Water accumulates in the spare tire compartment every time it rains.
Can not open drivers side door with the key. Passenger side door and ignition ok but concerned that the key will not work with the other door/trunk or ignition in the future. The failure of the key opening the drivers door presents a safety hazard in thecase of an emergency.
Standing water accumulates in the spare tire well after heavy rain.
Rear passenger side door leaks water every time it rains. Safety concerns are mold growth on carpeting, body rust from exposure to water, seats have also gotten wet when folded down into foot area (more mold), windows fog up because of extra humidity in the vehicle (impairing visibility), and could potentially also be causing damage to the electrical system from extra humidity. Have also found water in spare tire well in back of car, but I'm not sure where this entered the car. Asked a Honda dealer about this and they wanted to charge $200 just to diagnose the problem, which seems like a common issue judging by the amount of discussions in online forums.
This problem seems to have developed overnight. It has been an issue for the past four years now. My Honda does not have a keyless entry, therefore, I unlock my car by just inserting my key into the door handle. However, about four years ago, I came out to unlock my car and was only able to stick my key in the door lock. The key would no longer turn. At first, this issue was only with the drivers side lock; however, it now includes both the drivers side and the passenger side locks. From what I have researched on the issue, it seems that the cylinder component of both the drivers side and the passenger side exterior door locks is to blame. In my research, I came across several forums (most of them being Honda forums) in which others are having the same issue with the same 2007 base models of Honda Fits including the 08' Fits. I did take it to a Honda dealership to have them check out the issue. They did confirm that it was the cylinder that needed to be replaced. However, they stated that the cause may have been someone attempting to jam something into my car door lock in order to break in. Although that could have been a possible cause, I feel that if several others with the same model and year of Honda are having this issue then it isn't something specific to my Honda or that someone was merely trying to break in. It is definitely a safety issue. The only way I am able to enter my car at the moment is through the trunk. If my key stops working for that lock then I have no way to get into my car. I strongly feel that this needs to be a recall for safety as well as being able to access one's own vehicle.
Water is leaking into trunk spare tire compartment and floor underneath rear seats, especially on the passenger side of the car. Took car to dealer for repair in the morning, left for entire day and was told that they could not diagnose the source of the water leak. Dealer told me I would need to bring back the car for further testing that could take a few hours and at least $300. I cannot afford to keep taking in the car for the entire day, paying a lot of money and not even have a guarantee the problem will be fixed. I have tried to seal a crack I found in the roof seam (based on information I could find online of other owners with a similar problem). If this does not fix the problem, I am not sure what I will do. Honda customer service was extremely unhelpful when I called them. They told me they could not do anything until the dealer found the source of the problem, but the dealer was not able to even do that!.
Water leaked into the spare tire area causing the entire backseat floor area to be saturated with water causing mold and rust. The dealer had to seam seal the upper right side of roof. Rear tail light gasket had to be replaced because water was also coming in through tha area.
Water is leaking and causing rust in the cavity where the spare tire sits. According to online research, this is common in the 2007-2008 Honda Fit. The water runs down along the inside panels and pools in the spare tire cavity. This has caused the spare tire and jack to become completely corroded and rusted. Water then spills from that cavity to the foot space of the back seat. The carpet becomes water logged. The seats, when folded down, become wet. The supports for the seats are rusted.
The first time I noticed a problem was in Feb. 2014 when I entered my vehicle there was frost on the inside of my windshield. Since then I have been having frost or moisture on the inside of my windows when I enter my vehicle in the morning. I have had to vacuum the back floor on both sides after every rain storm. Mould is forming on the carpeting and the back seats. My main concern is my 5 & 7 year old grandkids who I have to transport to and from school. Honda doesn't seem to want to address this problem. There doesn't seam to be a fix for this problem when I have check various web sites. I ran a test this morning by running water from a garden hose over the top of my Honda. I could see water running from the underside of both rear doors into the rear floors.
After heavy rain, water pools in the spare tire compartment of the trunk, the seeps into the carpet of the trunk and back seat, causing mold to grow. There appears to be a bad seal somewhere (hatchback, tail light, etc). This causes a serious health concern in addition to being a major nuisance.
After a very heavy rainstorm, we found standing water in the rear passenger side floor; the rear driver side floor was also very wet. We have taken the vehicle to our local dealership multiple times over the past 10 months. They have replaced the plastic sheeting inside the door several times and used different kinds of adhesive to attach the plastic sheeting. However, water is still leaking into the car whenever we get heavy rain (over 1 inch). The car is starting to smell moldy, because it is extremely difficult to get the carpet dry.
After it rains, water pools in the spare tire compartment in the hatchback. Does not seem to be breaching the seal around the hatchback. Suspect water is entering through tail light. This occurs with a moderate to heavy rain, or while washing the car.
The contact owns a 2007 Honda Fit. The contact stated that water leaked into the trunk of the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Water leaks into rear hatch and pools into the spare tire compartment.
After an overnight torrential rain I realized that the back seat floor of my Honda Fit 2007 (behind the driver seat) had a puddle of water. I mean, a big puddle. No windows was left open and the car was never damaged. I used to park in a garage over night. So of course I never had the chance to experience this until I moved because I now have to park the car outside. And of course it is over 3 years old so the warranty won't cover it. I always took good care of the car and had all the service done on time. I called the dealership and they request $150 just to run a diagnosis. How many complaints will have to be filed for Honda to admit the problem???? this is just unacceptable. And after reading all the other complaint I am now also getting worried about the health of my kid because of possible mold growth! how can Honda ignore this. I used to be very proud of my Honda Fit and loved it but I feel now that they are fooling us and if nothing is being made, Honda can be sure their brand won't be in my list once the time to buy a new car comes. And I will gladly let family and friends about this so they would not buy Honda as well. I know I am only one person and they probably won't care but they are endangering people's health and life and something must be done.
The contact owns a 2007 Honda Fit. The contact stated that water accumulated in the rear of the vehicle due to a leak. The spare tire was completely rusted. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic to locate the leak. The mechanic could not locate the leak so the vehicle was then taken to the dealer where the dealer advised that there was no leak. The contact stated that condensation accumulated whenever there was moisture in the vehicle. The failure mileage was 120,000.
Car body seam between roof and side panels leaking profusely causing pooling water in trunk and rear passenger floor, soaking vehicle upholstery and causing considerable mold growth.
This car is leaking horrendously. I have to vacuum the flooring of this car several times a week to prevent mold from growing on the walls, flooring and seats of the vehicle. No after market work has been done and we have now had to remove all carpet and padding to prevent further mold infestation. This is an all too common and dangerous complaint for this vehicle (and this year specifically for this model). Honda refuses to address the issue and it is endangering the health of everyone who rides in my car on a daily basis. Please help - this has devalued my 5 year old car and made it a complete lemon!.
We've experienced several episodes in which the rear passenger side floor is holding an impressive amount of water after it has rained. Windows have not been left open. We have dried up the area only to find another puddle of standing water in the floor space again and again. There are no tell-tale signs of leakage on the upholstery or ceiling material but there is starting to be a mold smell because we cannot keep the water out! this is starting to ruin the flooring carpet material as well as the overall condition of the inside of our well-kept family car. We're very concerned because this could ruin the car; I've read many other complaints of exactly the same situation/conditions and I have yet to read what Honda has for an answer/solution. I live in a rain-heavy area - on an island - with no Honda dealership.
My car has leaked for 4 years now (three years after I bought it, used, I noticed the leak). It's the driver's side front and back doors that leak. I'm pretty sure the rubber seals that are supposed to keep the doors shut are leaking, but I can't find it. I just feel misting moisture coming from somewhere when it's pouring out and I'm driving, and the carpet is soaked through when it rains. It takes days to dry out. I thought the "door panel leak" recall was going to take care of it, but I think they just sealed the components in the door against a known leak. I'm not the only one with this problem; I checked online to see if there was a recall, but all I found was other people with moldy carpets and leaking doors. I keep a towel on the floor at all times, but now my seat is wet and it smells musty in the car all the time. A roll of papertowels will get completely waterlogged in about 10 minutes on the floor at anytime. I have never, ever had a wet car like this. It's like the window is always cracked, but the windows are operating just fine. I asked the dealer about it, and they tried to sell me a $400 "find the leak" package that I couldn't afford.
During the rain the spare tire compartment got flooded; this caused rust formation on the jack, growth of the mold and extreme fogging of the windows. The leak is most probably caused by the rear door to body seal failure.
My 2007 Honda Fit sport (automatic) has had a trunk leak for years. I had noticed wet carpeting behind the passenger side seat but assumed it was from wet shoes after rainfall. It turns out that this is in fact a failure in the window/door seal in the rear passenger side door. The car had begun to develop an odor which, when I checked today, has turned into mold. We can't drive the car at all because of fears of inhaling mold spores. I had checked the Fitfreak. Net website and it seems that this is an extremely common issue among Fit owners. Why has this not been addressed? my car is worthless unless this can be fixed and the mold totally removed. It doesn't matter whether the car is moving or stationary: water will seep in from the frame, wet the carpet, and produce mold.
Water leaking into rear seat wells and spare well. Fixed 3 times by taping failed door plastic sheeting. Mold growing on carpet. Frame tested under carpet. Water now leaking into spare well as well. Mold removal needed to make car driveable. Car is a health hazard with 3 species of toxic mold present. Please recall as this problem is a common problem. New carpet needed new deals and door sheeting needed. This problem has been for going for 5 years. Dealer refused to fix under warranty.
2007 Honda Fit major issues: door seals do not keep out water which results in extremely saturated wet floor in the driver, rear, trunk and rear passenger area. The problem will eventually rust out the vehicle prematurely and is a liability and unsafe vehicle for long term use. With the wet interior comes mold and mildew that is very harmful to your health and not Fit for children or adults especially with asthma. Honda has not acknowledged this issue.
The contact owns a 2007 Honda Fit. The contact stated that water was entering the vehicle from the rear driver side door. The leak occurred whenever there was a heavy rain. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that they could not find the leak. The failure mileage was 1,500 and the current mileage was 38,000. Updated 03/24/lj.
I own a 2007 Honda Fit, sport model- that was involved in an accident. I was driving my car on the highway in stop and go traffic. There was a late model Toyota tundra pickup truck infront of my car and it came to a sudden stop. I couldn't stop quick enough- I was traveling at low speed must be under 15mph. My car hit the bumper of the pick up truck infront of me and the hood, lights and entire "top" front end sustained about "$7000" worth of damage. But none of the airbags deployed at all. Lots of lights on the gauge cluster came on and went off but the airbags did not deploy. The tundra only sustained a scratch on the rear bumper. After a tear down by the body shop it was determined that the sensors were installed at the sides at the front end of the frame rail. This is a very low position on this car since its already low to the ground. I believe the airbag sensors are too low on these cars by poor and irresponsible design by Honda. Had these sensors been placed at a higher elevation then the airbags would have gone off and the injuries would have been even minor. This design decision seems like it was developed to satisfy the frontal crash tests conducted by the insurance institute for highway safety. During those tests the cars are evaluated for crashes to a solid object anchored to the ground. The airbags would not deploy in a crash scenario with any vehicle that would not be a compact car. I was lucky because there was no loss of life but the same accident at a higher speed would have resulted in no airbag deployment and certain loss of life. The car is currently being repaired at a body shop in lorton va. I extend you the opportunity to come and study the car if you care to do so. . . Thanks so much shazad buksh.
Heavy rain causes my 2007 Honda Fit to leak into the rear passenger floor board. The first time it happened it was under warranty and I was told that the automatic carwash was to strong. By the time I discovered the water, it had started to mold under the floor mat. It happend 4 times before I could get it corrected. By this time it was out of warranty and they did not have a record of my reporting it the first time. The fix that was done was re-sealing the door panel.
