The screen that shows mileage, oil life, gas gage, is going out. It’s intermittent but when it’s out it’s out for 30 minutes or more, and is progressively getting worse.
Electrical board that controls the digital portion of the dashboard display fails in cold weather and (according to online discussion groups) appears to be progressively worse over time. My dashboard display is failing at temps below approx. 36 degrees fahrenheit. The first failures were last winter (2024-25). The affected display includes odometer, fuel gauge, some service warnings/indicators, plus some additional but unimportant informational items (like outside temp, gas mileage, etc. ). See, e. G. : [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Digital display with mileage, gas maintenance information intermittently fails or appears scrambled. Could possibly be connected to temperature but not consistent. It is a safety issue in that you don’t know how much gas you have and you cannot check maintenance information. This has been happening intermittently for about 2 1/2 years.
Multiple systems failure simultaneously. Lane keep assist system, adaptive cruise control, braking system failure and automatic emergency braking as well as forward collision warning. This appears to be due to some fault within the system that multiple owners experience — many mentions of this issue in online forums. When taken to Honda they cannot even determine why but just start suggesting replacement of various systems to include the camera/radar but cannot guarantee this will fix. This is a safety issue and happens through no fault of the vehicle owner it just pops on one day and remains intermittent.
The fuel gauge/mileage screen intermittently stops working, resulting in a blank blue screen, particularly in cold weather. This can be inspected upon request but the issue is intermittent. This can be distracting but also concerning if the driver does not know how much gas is left in the car. A Honda dealership confirmed this problem, inspected the gauge cluster (combination meter assembly), and recommended a $1,210 replacement if it completely stopped working. Only the dealership has inspected the car. There were no warning lamps or messages before this issue appeared and there is no water damage to the contacts in the electrical system. The issue first appeared about a year before this inspection.
American Honda and its dealerships refuse to fix my vehicle. My vehicle has been inoperable since 2023. I have reported this gross discrimination / retaliation to your office multiple times. I am submitting another report given the new recall states that the previous recall regarding my electrical system did not correct the issues. American Honda (mario and his manager, jennifer) have refused to escalate my case #13785319 to their legal department. I am a person with disabilities and have requested reasonable accommodations from both american Honda and Honda of covington. To date, they both have retaliated, discriminated, bullied and stalked me (via internet and in person in April 2024). My vehicle has been inoperable since 2023. I have not been provided any reimbursement. This is my corporate vehicle. I have been unable to work because of Honda and its dealership's negligence. I have called Honda corporate multiple times and they refuse to escalate my case to legal. On June 21, 2024, their customer service representatives hung up on me when trying to explain the urgency. The representative that hung up on me was analycia. Today, June 24, 2024, I spoke with alfredo. Alfredo refused to escalate my case to legal.
Honda of covington , Honda corporate, louisiana secretary of state, st tammany parrish court system and trey lape (attorney for Honda of corporate has bullied / discriminated and harassed the owner of this vehicle. The owner of this vehicle reported electrical, mechanical and smells of fire emitting from this vehicle multiple times since 2018. To date, the vehicle has not been repaired. Kyle mitchell internet stalked the owner in 2023 and last Friday, April 19, 2024 in person. The owner of this vehicle drove cross country after trey lape advised the vehicle fuel pump was corrected. Mr. Tim (parts department with Honda of covington) confirmed that the fuel pump part was not ordered for my vehicle by the service department. The vehicle has been inoperable since April 2023. The owner and board members are people living with multiple disabilities. All parties have refused reasonable accommodations for the owner of this vehicle (and its board members).
The instrument cluster on the right side of the dash intermittently fails at random times for unexpected durations. Some days, the screen will fail for days/hours at a time and others will be a minute or so. This is a safety issue because the cars total mileage is read off of this digital display along with the fuel remaining the tank. Many other people are having the same issue from the same generation of Honda Fits. This should be a recall.
Digital instrument cluster keeps shorting out. Sometimes displays gibberish, sometimes displays nothing at all while the car is driving.
The gauge cluster pod that displays the fuel gauge and the odometer blanks out and/or completely scrambles to gibberish. This is apparently a common problem with a few Honda models and seems to stem from the incorrect manufacturing of the part. This is a safety issue since without a fuel gauge the vehicle can unexpectedly run out of gas at any time, stranding the driver and passengers in precarious situations. Further, without an odometer the owner can miss required scheduled maintenance.
This is my second submission!!!!!! please help!!!! 2018 Honda Fit saleena - 1:39 pm est submitted for the formal complaint about the harassment and discrimination related to all Honda dealerships, kyle mitchell and shakaia (rep from previous call). Case management / and supervisor is reviewing. If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline 1-888-327-4236 or tty: 1-800-424-9153 or file an online complaint with NHTSA. My company vehicle has fluid leaking on the floor, the check engine light constantly coming on, the rear camera is intermittently inoperable and it smells like something has died in it (mold/mildew). Since I have owned the vehicle, I have reported these issues to Honda dealerships and they have claimed to fix the problems. I paid for an extended warranty and each time the dealership forced me to pay for repeat issues that repeatedly continued to happen. The battery died more than once right after I purchased it. The car had to be towed a few times because of the electrical battery issue. The fluid that was leaking on the floor caused my leg, lungs and mental health to suffer. I am currently under doctors care for the mechanical issues the car has caused. This is my company vehicle and it has been at Honda of covington since April 2023. American Honda has refused to help me get to the bottom of why multiple dealerships have refused to fix the vehicle.
The fuel gauge and odometer digital display shorts out. It will either completely go blank or have digital distortion where the characters are unreadable. I do not know how many miles I have left in my gas tank. I can't get a reading for oil life or how many miles I have traveled. I can't even get a reading on the odometer when I take my car in for service. Occasionally the display will return to normal after the vehicle is running for some time. Other times, it never returns. It seemed worse in colder weather, but the summer temps of 90-100, it is still not reliable and it is functions on occasion. I have not taken it in to be serviced because of potential cost, but can see that others have the same problem from my internet searches. My 2018 Fit has about 45,000 miles on it. This has been happening for the past year. This is a safety concern, because I don't know how much gas I have, or if I will make it to the next service station on long trips. It causes stress and anxiety. The gas tank holds no more than 10 gallons, so I'm stopping more frequently to gas up, for fear I will be stranded on a remote road. Honda is a usually a reliable product. It would be appreciated if Honda recalled this odometer/gas display because no one wants to own a defective and unsafe product. Please make this right, Honda.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned: gauge cluster failure from computer microchip manufacture defect. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? cannot read gas level or when car needs service, which can cause vehicle to stop in middle of road has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer: yes, capital city Honda has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer: capital city Honda were there any symptoms of the problem prior to the failure: dimming and then blank gauge cluster, occurred April 2023 please see attached dealer diagnosis and other reported cluster failures from Honda owners. This is a widespread issue for Honda that is not being addressed by the manufacturer. This should be a national recall safety issue.
My vehicle has been inoperable since 2023. The dealership refuses to repair the fuel pump and all other issues, per the manufacturers recall. Steve allain at Honda of covington reported to me that the vehicle would not re-start if turned off. The leadership at the dealership (kyle mitchell) and courtney gullien communicated to me that the car was operable and the fuel pump was repaired, but will not provide service records that document this information. Tim in the parts department has communicated to me multiple times that no one from the dealership has ordered any parts related to the fuel pump recall for my vehicle. The manufacturer refuses assist with this matter and send someone from corporate to inspect the vehicle after multiple requests. The check engine light provided warning, along with a loud burning smell from the vehicle. The insurance company also refused to send a representative to inspect the vehicle. The issues with the stalling of the vehicle, not starting upon turning the key, and foul smell has been an ongoing issue since purchase. The previous dealerships claimed that they repaired the vehicle. The fuel pump is the component that has been failing. The vehicle has been inoperable and at the dealership since April 2023.

Mileage/gas display shows gibberish. Does not read the accurate gas level, cannot read mileage or time. This gets better as the weather is warm but during the cold months it doesn't work at all. This poses a safety issue as it could leave the driver stranded if they didn't know how much gas they have.
The right side gauge in the dashboard (fuel gage, odometer, mpg, etc) goes blank or shows giberish intermentently, especially when cold. Currently the display has been permanently blank for some months now. Reading in forums, this is a very common problem with 2015 and newer Honda Fit and Honda refuses to acknowledge its a common issue and thus no recall. Not knowing what your fuel level is a very big safety concern. Honda wants $1200 or more to fix.
Hello, my vehicule have a recall, and I'm having a bad situation because american Honda does not provide the necessary software to my local official dealer that represents Honda to update DE audio system of the car the issue cause the radio to slowly drain the battery charge. American Honda its not providing a solution becuase I imported the car from USA to dominican republic. I need a solution to resolve the recall on my 2018 Honda Fit sport.
Car is four years old and has 80,000 miles. Fuel injectors became stuck in an open position flooding the engine with fuel and frying the spark plugs. All emergency indicator lights came on and one light (the tire light) was flashing. Honda dealership confirmed fuel injectors were stuck open, but instead of admitting to failure in their parts, they blamed the problem on “bad gas. ” an independent auto mechanic confirmed for me that gasoline should not be blamed on faulty fuel injectors. Unfortunately Honda charged me $2300 to replace parts that should last longer than four years.
We have a recurring hazardous issue with our iphonex plugged into the usb port on our 2018 Fit ex-l Hondalink radio system. Typically after 20 seconds to hours after starting the car with the iphone connected, an itunes song from the phone will start playing spontaneously. And it also almost always occurs soon after using siri on my iphone via the Hondalink system. But sometimes it can happen just driving much later for no reason at all. This is hazardous because on occasions when it suddenly played the music the volume was so loud it scared the driver. So this is a safety issue! I found postings about similar issues online that suggested various iphone settings changes which I tried without success. One posting though simply replaced the Honda radio with a sony aftermarket radio and that did resolve the issue. Today I also spoke with kenya at Hondalink support at 888-528-7876 but she said she found no information about the defect. She suggested I take the car back to the dealer (at my expense).
My fuel gauge display malfunctions whenever the weather is too cold outside, causing the screen to go blank. It remains blank or glitches gibberish words until the screen returns to normal or stays frozen with gibberish language. I've noticed that the fuel gauge display works fine if I'm driving before 8 am during cold mornings, but it starts to malfunction or flicker until the display is frozen or blank once it's past 8 am. This problem has made it difficult for me to know when I'm low on gas as I commute a long distance for work. It's especially difficult during the cold winter months when my fuel gauge display is blank or malfunctioning 95% of the time. I've been experiencing this issue for about 3-4 years now whenever the colder seasons approach. I've been quoted $1000 to replace the entire dashboard by the Honda dealership when this issue wasn't a problem caused by me as other Honda Fit owners have experienced the same concerns.
Digital odometer and fuel gague does not display, or displays scrambled letter/numbers. It appears to be related to temperature. When it is warm outside or the car warms up it will display, but id the car just started or it is cold out side it will not display at all or will be scrambled. Pounding on the dashboard sometimes causes it to turn on. This is an extremely common issue that I am seeing online from other Honda Fit owners and has been happening for the past 6 years from what I have found. Affecting 2015 models to the last models made. It is a safety issue to not be able to read your fuel level. And the odometer needs tor be read in order to see when oil needs to be changed and other services/maintenance.
While driving car the electrical system failed with all safety lights on dashboard turning on. When system goes off the abs braking system, traction control, and power steering fails. Also noted engine misfiring. This happened when driving on freeway. I have brought car into Honda 2 times and they have not been able to figure it out. Car is at 42000 miles only. Complaint filed to Honda of America and it has been 2 weeks without response.
All the warning lights that signal problems with the car came on including the brake system lights (tire pressure, emissions, check engine, etc,) dealer said it was due to a faulty fuel injector despite this is a brand new car with no history of accidents whatsoever.
Last week the mileage/gas screen on my Honda Fit glitched a couple of time while I was driving down the road. It then went back to normal. A couple of days later I went out to start the car and the screen was blank. After about 10 seconds the screen came on an performed normally for the rest of the day. Today, I went out to start the car and the screen was blank, a few seconds later the screen displayed what looked like every light it could and the screen had all kinds of gibberish on it. The screen then went blank and continued to do this switch between gibberish and blank for approximately 7 minutes . I needed to know the mileage on the vehicle but it will not display the mileage or any other readable information. I contact my local Honda dealership who advised they would not be able to determine the mileage without that screen working and therefore would not be able to tell me if my car is under warranty or not in order to have it fixed. The car is between 30,000 and 40,000 miles and has never had any damage or been involved in any collisions. This has never happened before until last week and every time I have had the problem, the outside temperature was below 45 degrees fahrenheit. Unknown what created this unsafe condition. However, when this screen is not working, I have no way of knowing how much gas I have, the rpms, the mileage on the vehicle, and how many miles per gallon my car is using. The outside temperature is also not shown. Because it does not show my my mileage or gas gauge, I don't know if it will still trigger the low fuel light when my fuel is low. Please help!.
While driving car the electrical system failed with all safety lights on dashboard turning on. When system goes off the abs braking system, traction control, and power steering fails. Also noted engine misfiring. This happened when driving on hiway my wife drives the car to work on the hiway this has been a ongoing issue and we have had it to Honda 5 times for this exact problem every time except for this last one the say they can not duplicate the problem on the 5th time they wanted to charge her 1300 to fix it but it was covered due to the same issue that has happened just a few months after getting the car something has to be done before we get hurt in the car we are in fear for our safety this happens on the interstate and I have to crawl off the road praying this has been hpping evry few months we contacted Honda America and got no help.
2018 Honda Fit lx, 1,700 miles. After about a 10 mile urban drive in around 40f weather, I stopped at a light and the odometer/gas display flickered and the numbers were scrambled. It glitched one more time, and then disappeared after about a minute. This is a common safety issue for 2015+ and should be recalled. As far as my research I did not find another case of this happening with such low mileage, only that it is more likely to happen in cold weather. I also read that the fuse box is prone to flooding and can affect this issue, and it did occur after a couple days of me driving in heavy rain. I just bought this car used 3 days ago and so far have not seen the issue repeated, but read that it gets worse over time. This is a serious safety and legal issue for odometer not to display properly, and gas amount!.
Lately, on startup in the mornings, the odometer screen has been glitching or clearing entirely. It seems to happen on the coldest mornings. The issue clears up after being on the road for a while, but how long it takes to get back to normal varies by the day. Some days the glitch starts while the car is stationary and warming up. On other days it occurs once I am already a few miles down the road.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Fit. The contact stated that on various occasions while his wife was driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power with the abs, traction control, and other unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that occasionally the vehicle failed to restart and was towed to a local dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated, and the fault codes were cleared. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel injector and spark plugs needed to be replaced; however, only the fuel injector was replaced. The contact stated that the failure recurred, and the vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where the spark plugs were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that his wife was able to pull over and restart the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to Honda of hackettstown (48 us-46, hackettstown, NJ 07840) where it remained awaiting further diagnostic tests and repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
