3 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 08/13/2025

Component/system involved: the multi-purpose camera system on my 2018 Honda Fit has malfunctioned, disabling critical safety features such as adaptive cruise control (acc), lane keep assist system (lkas), and collision braking warning system (cbws). Safety risk: the failure of these systems creates significant safety risks. Without acc, the vehicle cannot maintain a safe distance from other vehicles. The lkas no longer provides steering assistance to help stay in the lane, and the cbws cannot detect or warn of potential collisions. These malfunctions increase the likelihood of accidents, especially during highway driving or in heavy traffic. Problem reproduction and confirmation: the issue has been reproduced and confirmed by norm reeves Honda cerritos during an inspection on 8/13/25. Inspection details: the vehicle has been inspected by a dealer/service center, which diagnosed the problem. However, the manufacturer has not offered a resolution, nor has the vehicle been inspected by police, insurance representatives, or other parties. Warning indicators: before the failure, warning messages appeared on the dashboard, including alerts for acc, lkas, and cbws system malfunctions. These warnings initially appeared on 8/12/25 and became more frequent over time. I believe this issue may be a design or manufacturing defect affecting other vehicles of the same make and model. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter to determine if it represents a broader safety concern.

4 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 01/31/2025

-the multi-purpose camera sensor system on my 2020 Honda Fit ex hatchback has malfunctioned, disabling critical safety features such as adaptive cruise control (acc), lane keep assist system (lkas), and collision braking warning system (cbws). -the failure of these systems creates significant safety risks. -the issue has been reproduced and confirmed by tony Honda in hi during an inspection on [xxx]. -my 2020 Honda Fit ex hatchback has been inspected by an authorized dealer/service center, which diagnosed a failure in the multipurpose camera. This failure has disabled critical safety features, creating a potential safety risk. The vehicle has less than 21,000 miles and has been well maintained. However, the manufacturer has not offered a resolution, and the vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance representatives, or other parties. Despite the low mileage and the importance of this system, I was informed that I must pay the full repair cost of $3,000 and other companies I visited stated that it can only be fixed by Honda. I believe this issue could indicate a defect and request an investigation into whether other Honda Fit owners are experiencing the same problem. -before the failure, warning messages appeared on the dashboard, including alerts for acc, lkas, and cbws system malfunctions. These warnings initially appeared for a week or so and became more frequent over time. I believe this issue may be a design or manufacturing defect affecting other vehicles of the same make and model. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter to determine if it represents a broader safety concern. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

5 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 08/20/2024

Component/system involved: the multi-purpose camera system on my 2019 Honda Fit has malfunctioned, affecting critical safety features, including the adaptive cruise control (acc), lane keep assist system (lkas), and collision braking warning system (cbws). The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: the malfunction of these systems significantly jeopardizes safety. For example, the acc failed to maintain appropriate distance from vehicles ahead, the lkas did not provide necessary steering assistance, and the cbws failed to detect and warn of potential collisions. These issues increase the risk of accidents, especially during highway or congested traffic driving. Problem reproduction and confirmation: the issue was reproduced and confirmed by swickard Honda of thousand oaks during an inspection conducted on August 20, 2024. Inspection details: the vehicle was inspected by the dealer, who diagnosed the problem and provided a repair quote. The manufacturer has not yet physically inspected the vehicle, nor have insurance representatives or law enforcement been involved. Warning indicators: prior to the failure, warning messages appeared on the vehicle’s dashboard, including notifications for acc, lkas, and cbws system failures. These warnings first appeared in early 2024, becoming more frequent and persistent over time. Additional information: I filed a case with Honda under case #14932073 requesting a complimentary repair due to the vehicle's age and the nature of the safety system malfunction. Despite explaining the critical safety implications, Honda did not offer a resolution. Given the significant safety risks posed by the malfunction and the lack of resolution from the manufacturer, I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter, as it may represent a broader defect impacting other vehicles of the same make and model.

6 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 06/06/2024

Upon starting the car, all warning lights came on as disabled for the acc/lkas system and could not be reset by the driver. Mechanic shop stated that the battery was dying, needed replaced then driven 50 miles for the acc/lkas system to reset. A few weeks later there was no change. Independent mechanic stated that the error code "u300049 multipurpose camera unit internal electronic failure" was permanent and would need dealership assistance. Dealership stated that the camera system needed replaced and recalibrated to the tune of $1600. I find it extremely hard to believe this system failed by itself, rather was caused by bad design as this was a battery that needed replaced. Safety is at risk as the acc/lkas and automatic emergency braking systems were permanently disabled on the vehicle and cannot be used.

7 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 06/04/2024

Multiple warning light up on dash and loud beeping upon start up. No way to remove warnings which distract. Multiple safety features disabled 95% of time and the randomly work fine 5% of the time. Not related to any obvious damage or incident. Got in car one day to find several warnings and loud beeps. Acc, lkas, road diparture mitigation, collision mitigation, and auto high beams all out. Warning light for each, plus a brake system light.

8 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 02/01/2023

I have had my Honda Fit for almost 7 years now and every winter I have an issue with the adas system. The car will throw a warning saying the sensor is obstructed and to clean off the windshield. Every time I check to make sure there's nothing obstructing the sensors. If I had to guess, the plastic covering is trapping heat from warming up the car and fogging the glass but I can't do anything about it since the plastic is not removable. It seems like a flaw in the design that operating the car with the heat on in winter can cause issues with the adas.

9 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 04/07/2022

All the dashboard lights came on in my car. I took it to the dealer and they said they needed to clean the injectors due to carbon buildup. My car has 42,000 miles on it and is 2018 Honda Fit. They charged me 613 dollars to clean the injectors. Then they updated the computer. Two days later all the lights came on again and was throwing a fourth cylinder misfire code 304. They told me they would have to replace the injectors for 2,300 dollars. The Honda only has 42,000 miles on it, and the dealer said he would not be able to cover the cost. I thought injectors were covered under the powertrain warranty, but he said it was covered under the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. Clearly, from reading other complaints here, there is a major issue with the injectors.
