44 Power Train problem of the 2018 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 01/31/2021

All vehicle warning lights came on specifically the check engine light for an emissions system problem. At the time the car had around 100,000 miles so it was suspected that the issue had to be with the battery, O2 sensors, or spark plug and ignition coil, so those parts were replaced. The vehicle still shows all the warning lights and reads codes for misfires in the first and second cylinder. If the issue with the fuel injectors was recalled and fixed for the 2015-2016 model Honda Fit, then it cant possibly be that the 2017-2020 Honda Fits also have a fuel injector problem, unless they also do and the issue has been neglected.

45 Power Train problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 01/20/2021

In February 2020, I was stopped at a stoplight and when the light turned green and I went to accelerate I heard cracking/ breaking sound and the car would not move forward or backward. I needed to have the car towed and was informed that the driver side axle had broken. In January 2021, nearly the exact same thing happened. I was stopped at a stoplight when the light turned green I went to accelerate I heard the same sound and the car would not move. I had the car towed I was informed that the passenger side axle had broken. The mechanic describe this axle as rusted around one area of the axel, what would normally be about the diameter of a quarter it was a small as the diameter of a pencil.

46 Power Train problem of the 2012 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 01/14/2021

I was stopped at a stop sign, waiting to make a left turn, when I started making the left turn I felt and heard a loud bang. The vehicle would not accelerate but I was able to coast to the side of the road, put vehicle in park but it would still roll, I then applied the emergency brake. I then proceeded to call my son, he asked me what happened, I told him that I heard a loud bang & the vehicle wouldn't accelerate & the vehicle kept rolling after it was in park, he said it sounds like I had a broken axel I then called aaa. Aaa arrived & asked me what happened & if the vehicle rolled when put in park, I said yes it still rolled & the driver told me I had a broken axel. I had the vehicle towed to my son's garage, where he replaced the front passenger side axel, that indeed had snapped in half. This happened as I was turning onto busy rt 27 in sharon, MA. Now I'm worried that the drivers side axel could snap in half while I'm driving my vehicle.

Failure Date: 01/01/2021

The left cv axel snapped and was replaced, a week later the same issue, and now the power is no longer distributing correctly, seems to be caused by the way the axels are exposed to the enviorment and continuously snap, there was no excessive driving on the vehicle, it only travels a 10 mile radius in the city and I ve put easily $3000 into it in the last 3 months.

54 Power Train problem of the 2009 Honda FIT

55 Power Train problem of the 2010 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 11/15/2020

Right rear axle broken. Less than two years ago the left rear ankle broke. This time vehicle was parked. Previous time car stopped at an intersection, then wouldn't move.

56 Power Train problem of the 2012 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 11/07/2020

The passenger side axle snapped in two inside the rubber damper weight at its center. As Honda forums on the internet show, this is becoming more common as Fits age. The damper is held in place by only one stainless steel clamp ( at its lower end). Since water and salt can enter its upper end , without a clamp there, it stays in the space between the axle and damper and the corrosion begins. Even aftermarket manufacturers have diagnosed the problem and left the damper off their axles. When this break happened the vehicle was starting off from a stop and turning right on a city street.

57 Power Train problem of the 2013 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 11/05/2020

Drivers side cv shaft sheared underneath vibration dampener. I was trying to take off from a stop at an intersection and the shaft broke. I was attempting to make a right hand turn onto a rural state route. This could have been quite bad if anyone was coming. After pushing the car to the side of the road it wouldn't stay put in park almost leading to it rolling into another vehicle while I was halfway out of the vehicle. The break also happened inside the vibration dampener so if there were any clues of this part starting to fail they were hidden and would have been almost impossible for a mechanic to spot.

58 Power Train problem of the 2010 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 10/22/2020

Driveshaft snapped. Replaced by dealer at considerable expense. Honda opened a case number #11878648, but refuses to pay or return calls.

60 Power Train problem of the 2011 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 10/10/2020

Driver parked 2011 Honda Fit in driveway. Ignition off car in 1st gear. After ~ 4 min. Car began slowly rolling backward down driveway, rolling over curb and stopped upon impact w. Tree. Impact caused damage to left rear bumper, crushed left rear brake light and wheel well. Left side panels pushed forward, shifting left side frame of car toward front of car. Inspecting car at site of impact, driver verified ignition remained off and gear shift remained in 1st gear position. Car was not driveable, requiring car to be towed from site. Thankfully neighborhood children were not playing in path of car and car did not enter major intersection where it would likely have caused a serious if not fatal accident.

61 Power Train problem of the 2016 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 10/09/2020

Fuel injectors failed (known issue) causing me to be stranded with kids. Car was under warranty. Dealer refused to cover under warranty even though federal emissions warranty required it for the mileage at the time. Next year catalytic converter failed causing me to fail emissions test. Dealer refused to cover under federal emissions warranty , claiming that fuel injectors cause the catalytic converter to fail and it the catalytic converter itself had no defects. Causing pollution, safety, and performance issues. Stranded with infant. Company violating clean air act and profiting on it.

64 Power Train problem of the 2011 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 09/26/2020

Driver's side axle broke resulting in complete loss of propulsion. Passenger side axle showing similar symptoms. Both axles had to be replaced to resume safe and normal function. Absolutely no warning, had regular maintenance done and just driven car cross-country (wv->wa) 2 weeks prior without incident. Car is 2011 Honda Fit with ~70k miles on it, regularly maintained at dealer and up until the incident I was completely satisfied with the vehicle. I have included the card from the spd with the incident number, the receipt from Honda of seattle for the work, the receipt for my payment, and a photograph of the old axles showing the break. I have retained them in case they would be relevant for investigative purposes and would be happy to turn them over. Incident occurred eastbound at 1st Ave s and yesler in downtown seattle while resuming forward motion from sitting at a stop light. . Read more...

65 Power Train problem of the 2013 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 09/21/2020

Front passenger axle broke when I stepped on the gas when stoplight turned green. Had car towed to dealership for repair. I found there was recall on this front axle for 2013 Fit made between 5/24-7/5/13 for this failure, but Honda says my car had no recall on file so it wouldn't be part of this recall. Car only has 59500 miles. Customer service unable to tell me actual date my car mfg and that they are meticulous on recalls. If they're so meticulous, why did they put improperly heat treated axles in 3108 cars? I suspect mine got missed in the recall. I have the broken axle, which I can take to a metallurgist if necessary.

66 Power Train problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 08/31/2020

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Fit. The contact stated while her husband was driving at a slow speed, she heard a loud abnormal sound before the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the driveshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to her residence. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 20v770000 (power train). The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

67 Power Train problem of the 2011 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 08/14/2020

Broken or fractured passenger cv axel.

68 Power Train problem of the 2015 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 05/27/2020

While on daily commute, transmission randomly started violently shaking for approx 1/8 mile and a loud bang occurred. I pulled over to the shoulder to visually inspect underside of vehicle but nothing was out of the ordinary. When shifting out of park, the vehicle was unable to continue driving forward or reverse regardless of revving engine.

69 Power Train problem of the 2011 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 05/02/2020

One year ago an axle broke on my 2011 Honda Fit. I had it replaced. Today the other axle broke. I looked online and it appears this is not an uncommon problem. In both cases, it happened when I made a fairly hard u-turn and shifted into reverse to complete a three point turn. I'm assuming the extra force on the shaft had to do with having the wheels turned hard and then attempting to reverse them, perhaps while they were still moving. Regardless, this seems like something that shouldn't happen so easily on a car that's not that old.

70 Power Train problem of the 2012 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 04/03/2020

The car has approximately 118,000 < miles. I was stopped at a red light that led to a highway. When the light turned green, I pressed the accelerator and heard a loud bang. The engine was running but the car did not move. I had the car brought to a Honda dealership. Upon their inspection, I was told both front axles were broken. According to the service rep, one axle disintegrated and the other had a noticeable crack in it. I requested the damaged components be saved for an investigation isn't this a safety concern? what if this happened while I was driving on the highway?.
