1 Seats problem of the 2015 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 11/01/2023

The floor of the driver seat and the floor of the front passenger seat continuously flood after it rains. I have dried the floors with a vacuum and checked for any potential leaks or blockages. However, I cannot find any blockages or leaks that are causing the floors of the car to flood, and it continues to flood after it rains. Besides the floors, nothing else is wet--the seats themselves are dry, and the steering wheel and dashboard all look dry. I am worried this water can lead to the floors rotting or retaining water and having mold--which will be a health concern.

5 Seats problem of the 2016 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 12/29/2016

2016 Honda Fit ex drivers seat safety issue: the design of the drivers seat makes driving this car for any distance unbearable. The car dealership I purchased it from has no solution to the issue of the poor design of the drivers seat. I can slightly modify the seat cushioning by adding pillows and pads but this changes the position of the driver and could potentially alter some of the safety features such as airbags if deployed. Currently the vehicle is undriveable any distance due to problems with the drivers seat which may create driver response issues to an emergency situation due to distractions and physical pain caused by the seat. This safety issue happens at all time while driving this vehicle.

8 Seats problem of the 2012 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 08/28/2015

I just started driving my car longer distances to work and my neck and shoulders are killing me. Upon further research it is because of a terrible decision for "safety" how can it be safety when driving every day injures your back and neck. I turned the head rest around backwards and it is slightly better but for someone my size (5'1" woman) it is terribly uncomfortable to drive with these head rests. I plan on straightening the curve myself this weekend. Whiplash has to be better than this. Please test this safety bs on humans and not just crash dummies. I would seriously need a chiropractor if this continued.

9 Seats problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 04/29/2015

Without warning, seat forward/back mechanism failed. Locking driver's seat in position closest to steering wheel. Examined mechanism under seat and discovered cable connected to seat lever had frayed to single wire. Seat could not be moved from position. Honda service technician stated he had never seen this problem; because cable was integral part of bottom seat frame, it was necessary to replace entire frame at cost of approximately 530 dollars. Because dealer did not stock frame it was necessary to drive car with approximately five inches space between steering wheel and driver's chest. When I contacted Honda's customer service representative, I was informed "Honda does not consider this type of failure to be a safety issue" and, because the care was out of warranty, was not responsible for the cost of repair. I then pointed out the Fit's owner manual contains the following caution "see pages 11-13 for important safety information and warnings about how to properly position the seat and seat backs". The pages include the following warning: "if you sit too close to the steering wheel or dashboard, you can be seriously injured by an inflating front airbag, or striking the steering wheel or dashboard". The representative repeated that Honda did not consider this to be a safety matter. It should be noted that the passenger-side seat mechanism (which is used with approximately the same frequency as the driver's side) showed virtually no sign of wear. There is no mention in the owner's manual of a need to check under the seat for cable wear; nor is such inspection included in the dealer's service inspection checklist. Because of the sudden nature of the failure and the warnings contained in the owner's manual, it would appear this in fact is definitely a safety issue.

10 Seats problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 01/07/2015

I just wanted to report that the front seats in my car were designed so poorly that after driving over 3 hours on a trip this week in it my lower back became sore. And even after 3 days later it is still sore. I've owned plenty of cars in my lifetime and never have I run across seating that has ever left me sore in them. . Read more...

12 Seats problem of the 2013 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

2013 Honda Fit. Consumer writes in regards to air conditioner and front seat issues. The consumer stated the ac cycled down when the outside temperature was 80 or above, when she has been on the road for as little as 30 minutes. The ac was cycling off just when she needed it most. The front seats were uncomfortable. The consumer had to add expensive gel cushion to the seat. It helped, but it pushed her forward making it difficult to get her right knee past the steering column as she entered and exited the vehicle. Also, the vehicle sat very low to the ground, which put the vehicle at risk for damage from road debris.

13 Seats problem of the 2008 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 04/17/2014

My Honda Fit is currently sitting outside my apartment and one day I was stupid and didn't roll up the rear windows. I had about 3 inches of water in the car the next morning. I mopped all of it up and got some damprid from home depot to try and get the stagnant water that I couldn't get to. I've been very vigilant about keeping the windows up since then. I just came back from a weekend away where I left my car and drove my wife's car with her to see my parents for mother's day. I got back into my car today and as usual I check to see if there is water in the back. And with the windows up all weekend the carpets are soaked. This is a tested and real problem that started out as human error and now is a health hazard with mold.

14 Seats problem of the 2009 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 05/14/2013

This is nothing to serious I however have noticed it and I fixed it myself after a few minutes of tinkering. On the passenger side seat the front bolts that hold the seat in placed became loose. It was only loose enough to create an extremely annoying rattling and clanking noise. I just had to pop off the plastic covers and hand tighten the bolts. Problem solved.

16 Seats problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 09/14/2011

This car is leaking horrendously. I have to vacuum the flooring of this car several times a week to prevent mold from growing on the walls, flooring and seats of the vehicle. No after market work has been done and we have now had to remove all carpet and padding to prevent further mold infestation. This is an all too common and dangerous complaint for this vehicle (and this year specifically for this model). Honda refuses to address the issue and it is endangering the health of everyone who rides in my car on a daily basis. Please help - this has devalued my 5 year old car and made it a complete lemon!.

17 Seats problem of the 2010 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 10/05/2010

Seats in Honda Fit 2010 are causing severe back problems to the point that I may need to have surgery. I am not prone to severe lower back problems but since purchasing this vehicle I have been to the doctor 3 times and seen a physiotherapist. The doctor has now made an appointment for me with a physatrist and if this doctor cannot resolve my problem, I will have to have back surgery.

20 Seats problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 11/22/2008

I own a 2007 Honda Fit sport that was in a high speed crash. Reading the complaint # 10228324 I can relate to this issue. I was hit on the very front left side at about 55 mph and then pushed off the road to the right. The right front of the car hit a dirt burm around 30 mph. The air bags didn't deploy but the air bag light stayed on until it was reset. The body shop advised me that the impact cut the wiring harness to the air bags and sensor's had been cut in half and the sensors were cracked. It sounds like the left side of this model Fit has many flaws and I am lucky that I was seriously injured. The only answer I can get on this issue is that the impact wasn't in the red zone for the air bags to deploy. I'm sorry but if they don't deploy during a front end impact why would I ever think they would have ever deployed with the wires cut in half. The red zone isn't the issue. The car is a death trap on wheels. So much for the safety ratings because it seems like this car has an air bag issue. The recall because of salt, b. S. Because I live in texas and have 2 of these cars that the passenger sensor is still shorting out even after they replaced it. Texas isn't one of the states that is in the multi salt states that the recall covers. I think someone need to take a long hard look at the issue before some does loose there life. Enough said. . . . . . My foot also falls asleep and hurts like you could never imagine after I drive only 25 miles. Complaint # 10221630 -- I feel your pain. . . . . I have 2 of these cars and each one puts my foot to sleep no matter how I move the seat. ----.

21 Seats problem of the 2008 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 10/15/2008

Unsafe design - recall request I am the owner of a 2008 Honda Fit with standard transmission. The ten-minute test drive did not alert me to the insufficient legroom that makes me apply both the brake and the gas at the same time. The explanation follows. Long drives of over twenty minutes cause my leg to cramp and I need to shift my right heel to the right. That puts my heel directly behind the gas pedal instead of the normal position directly behind the brake pedal. When the toe of the foot moves to the brake pedal, the sole of the foot also covers the edge of the gas pedal and both pedals are pushed at the same time. The brake system is also partly at fault since after the initial application the brake continues to slowly sink to the floor instead of holding the pedal height. This results in even more gas being applied. Honda has inspected the brakes and has indicated they are working normally. I have driven standard shift cars many years including, chevy, Plymouth, pontiac, two toyotas, two vws, the 1991 Honda, and now this Fit. There are many hundred-thousand miles logged in these cars. I replaced my 1991 Honda dx with the Fit. The cars are essentially the same size length and width and the 1991 Honda was a comfortable car. You would think the Fit would be as well proportioned. I have checked other cars of the same size and style with the thought of trading. I have found the Nissan versa, Toyota scion xd, and Toyota yaris to have the same or worse legroom as the Fit. I am 70 inches tall with a pant inseam of 31 inches. My guess is that anyone with an inseam of more than 29 would have the same problem. Recall the Honda Fit to force the company to adjust the seat so that it will move farther back from the gas pedal and/or higher. There is plenty of room in the car for that to happen. Honda added another few inches to the 2009 Fit but kept the same front seat clearance dimensions. Establish design rules to stop this design flaw.

22 Seats problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 03/18/2008

Purchase a 2007 Honda Fit on 3/15/08 with 3,300 miles on it. After driving it 150 miles in 3 days now have sharp pain in my right foot as the angle my foot takes to depress the accelerator is stressful. I now have pain just walking around. Many people on Fit forums also have pain from driving this car.

23 Seats problem of the 2007 Honda FIT

Failure Date: 10/01/2007

The contact has a 2007 Honda Fit. Every three to four months, the contact has to replace the air in the tires at least three to four times within the month. The failure occurs intermittently in each tire. She also stated that the driver's seat position causes severe muscle pain in her right foot. She has changed the position of the seat, but the failure remains. The dealer and manufacturer have not yet been notified. The current mileage was 1,160 and failure mileage was 1,100.
