Steering problem #1

Steering become stiff and sticky while driving it was sudden and I was unable to turn the steering wheel specifically to the left. The other driver stopped short so an accident was avoided. Brought the car for service and was told there is a gearbox issue with swelling causing stiff/sticky steering and the rack and pinion needs to be replaced. It is the same issue that newer model Honda hrvs have been recalled for. It is a serious safety issue. This car has only 56,000 miles on it. There is no way their safety recall on this exact situation should not be expanded to vehicles prior to 2022. It's a serious safety issue.

Steering problem #2

I have only 40,000 miles on my 2019 Honda hrv. Due to utilizing the lane assist, my rack and pinion, inner tie rod ends and steering shaft assembly have all came lose. When I drive, I can turn my steering wheel to the right and left one inch and the wheels do not move. I need to move my steering wheel more than an inch for the wheels to engage due to everything being faulty and loose. I believe this stems from the vibration caused in the lane assist. I will now need to do a $2,000+ repair on a element of my vehicle that should last between 100,000 - 150,000 miles where my vehicle is only at 40,000 miles. I do not have invoice for the repair yet as I'm shopping around due to high cost. I have a video showing what the incident is, but the form won't allow me to send videos. I'm happy to send that video in a follow up.

Steering problem #3

Steering. Risk of crashing. Lundgrens Honda of greenfield, MA. Lundgrens diagnosed and replaced. Steering started creaking in may 2024 slowly got worse to a popping. Took to lundgrens, they diagnosed and replaced. $1925. 44. Diagnosed steering gear assembly worn out at coupler connecting to inner shaft and steering gear box replaced.

Steering problem #4

I was making a 90 degree right turn and had turned my steering wheel the amount needed to make this turn, however, the car direction did not match the amount the wheel was turned and continued to head towards the oncoming traffic lane. I removed my foot from the gas peddle and noticed that even though the radio was still playing, the screen had gone black. A couple seconds later, the screen came back on and the car jerked into the turn, seemingly finally catching up with the steering wheel. I took the car to my mechanic and the diagnostic scan did not show any codes that matched this issue. My mechanic did note that he looked up the issue and found other reports online of the same thing happening to 2019 Hr-vs after heavy rainfall. My incident occurred 3 days after we had so much rain that flash flooding occurred. Honda corporate directed my to the dealership. The Honda dealer I bought the car (in new condition) from, stated they aren't able to troubleshoot unless the codes are there to show the issue.

Steering problem #5

Issues: sunroof leaks heavily: during the rain and in car washes, into the backseat, which is ruined now from the constant leaking this past winter 2022-23 *sunroof replaced 3/2023 continues to leak heavily weather strips: doors lacking weather strips, or the weather strips are so loose and loosely connected, it serves very little purpose, I. E. , the seal attaches loosely to widely spread intermittent hooks, these are not attached securely and leak significantly. Brought to Honda: never repaired steering: severe instability when both turning and accelleration!! very dangerous when making a left hand turn from a stopped position!! this happens daily! body parts: cheaply made, put together incorrectly by the manufacturer Honda in mexico, e. G. , Honda is completely aware of the plethora of body defects, including the sunroof. According to Honda service manager ukiah CA. Brake system: very poor, I would caution the need to slam on the brakes as they take much to long to engage.

Steering problem #6

My vehicle stopped in the middle of the highway without any warning. This was a very scary and dangerous experience. After the engine completely stopped and I tried turning on a symbol of steering wheel and an exclamation came on. Only thing to note is that we were using the cruise control at that time. My vehicle was completely disabled and had to be towed. The Honda dealer said it was nothing based on diagnostics and they're not sure why this happened.
