While at the gym one evening on 1/3, I came back to my car and noticed a shattered rear windshield. Initially my thoughts were 'did my car get broken into?' however, nothing was missing and my gym is located in a fairly safe part of town. Also, this occurred early evening, one of the busiest times at the gym and an unlikely time for a break in. I notified the police, my insurance company, and the gym. The police reviewed footage of the parking lot and didn't see anything that suggested a break it. Shortly thereafter, I became aware of many hrv owners experiencing 'spontaneous' shattering of the rear windshield. The situation was beginning to make more sense. I believe that I am a victim of this defect.

Back wind shield exploded out of nowhere while on the freeway almost crap myself.

The rear window of my one year old 2023 hrv suddenly shattered, thankfully while vehicle was parked. No impact to glass or reasoning, I filed an incident report with police out of concern, they had never seen anything like it but stated it was not due to any object impact. This happened right on christmas weekend, leaving me without a safe car to drive which ruined some of plans and dealership was unable to assist but associate did mention she’s seen another customer with same issue and there are many similar instances online. I could’ve been driving or had my boy in the backseat when this happened. There seems to be some issue with the pressure points and placement of the window, frightening this can happen again. No warning lights triggered for this particular scenario. Please issue recall.

Came out in the morning to the rear windshield shattered. No impact or anything of the like, just randomly shattered overnight while in my garage.

2019 Honda hrv paint began to come off the car at 3 years old. Now the car is 5 years old and the area of concern is growing. The paint is pealing off down to the base of the car structure. This is a safety issue because when it begins to rust, the car parts will fall off. The area around with windshield is pealing decreasing the structural soundness of the car. When it rusts the windshield will not be held in place. Honda USA: anthony at 800-999-1009. 88024 was contacted and reported that even thought this same make and model car was recalled in 2016-2018 they will not fix the defect they knowingly manufactured. I have had the car inspected by fisher Honda colission center in boulder, colorado. They said it is the same paint issue they saw on the cars in 2016-2018. Where Honda did recall the vehicles.

I am writing to report a serious issue with the paint on my white pearl Honda Hr-v. The roof paint began peeling in 2023, and I initially attempted a minor repair using a paint pen from autozone. However, the problem has worsened significantly over the past six months. Recently, I took the vehicle to maaco for an estimate, and they quoted approximately $2,400 to repaint the roof and side panels. I also contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle, and they confirmed that I had purchased an extended warranty which expired in October 2024. After researching the issue, I discovered that paint peeling is a common and widely reported problem for white pearl Honda models. I spoke with both american Honda and the dealership on July 2025, and while the Honda representative acknowledged that they are receiving many similar complaints, they stated that the company is still investigating the root cause and does not currently offer compensation. They classified the issue as normal wear and tear. I keep my vehicle well maintained, and it is only 8 years old. I strongly believe this is a manufacturing defect, not a result of neglect or environmental wear. I would like to formally file a complaint and request that Honda take responsibility for this issue. Upon entering my parked vehicle today 11/30/23, I got in and closed the driver side door of my 2023 Honda hrv. Immediately I heard a crash and looked behind me to see that my rear windshield had shattered and the middle part was caved in with glad all in the trunk. I got out, inspected the area and there was nothing to indicate why the windshield spontaneously combusted like this. I took it to the dealer I bought it from and no one had seen or heard of this before. Upon searching online, I found several websites where other people have reported the same thing happening, either when the car is parked or while driving. The dealership is currently trying to figure out how to handle this.

While I was driving the rear window suddenly shattered creating a loud thud. Chunks of shattering glass fell into the back section of the car. No foreign object hit the car. This was just a spontaneous event. We often transport our grand children and it is possible that they could have been seriously injured if they would have been in the car at the time. The car is unsafe to drive at this time due to shards of glass still loose. I plan to contact the local Honda dealership and will request a representative to come inspect the damage. Our hrv is still under warranty.

Back window defrost over heats causing back glass to shatter. This is a safety issue causing the driver visual impairment through the back glass. Vehicle has been inspected with the glass replacement. There were no prior warning sensors.

I was sitting at a red light my 3 year old son and the back glass just shattered for no apparent reason! the police came and said it was a manucaturer's defect!.

Today the rear windshield of my 2023 Honda Hr-v shattered instantaneously while the car was parked in my driveway. The car was outside during a cold night and then warm day so I wonder if the temperature change impacted the glass. I see other reports online of rear windshield shattering, but no recall. When I called the service department at the dealer, they were unaware of the issue. I am thankful I wasn't driving the car when it happened which would have been really dangerous, but now I have an undriveable car that's less than a year old with pieces of glass everywhere.

Rear window shattered randomly on a cool day with the rear defrost on. I was parked and bearded a boom and looked back and my rear window was shattered. No damage to the vehicle, no accident with vehicle, and object thrown at window. The window just shattered randomly. I’ve read this is a common issue with this year and model, I’ve heard the rear defrost overheats and shatters the glass.

My rear windshield shattered out of nowhere. Not driving, car wasn’t turned on yet, temperature outside was about 60 degrees so wasn’t too cold or too hot. No impact.

I called the police and they are also confused on how my window shattered, it doesn’t show any puncture or impact of any kind just a shattered window. No warning lights came on before or after. I took my baby to the dealer and they also did not see what could have caused it to shatter. Believe it may be an manufacturing defect.

I was driving at night and my rear windshield shattered out of nowhere. I had two passengers in the back seat, and the glass went everywhere. There was no foreign object or extreme temperature that would have caused this.

My wife was sitting in the car at the deli, and the rear glass exploded. She thought it was a gunshot. She ducked down and called 911.

The rear window of our 2023 Honda hrv exploded with no incident whatsoever. We had parked the car on Sunday, July 2, 2023 and taken walk on beach at 7:30 in the morning. When we left at 8:15 we heard a noise from the back as we drove off and looked in rear view mirror to see that the back glass was shattering. Continued to shatter as we made our way back home - 1-1/2 miles. This is a Sunday and will consult with dealership on Monday.

Issues: sunroof leaks heavily: during the rain and in car washes, into the backseat, which is ruined now from the constant leaking this past winter 2022-23 *sunroof replaced 3/2023 continues to leak heavily weather strips: doors lacking weather strips, or the weather strips are so loose and loosely connected, it serves very little purpose, I. E. , the seal attaches loosely to widely spread intermittent hooks, these are not attached securely and leak significantly. Brought to Honda: never repaired steering: severe instability when both turning and accelleration!! very dangerous when making a left hand turn from a stopped position!! this happens daily! body parts: cheaply made, put together incorrectly by the manufacturer Honda in mexico, e. G. , Honda is completely aware of the plethora of body defects, including the sunroof. According to Honda service manager ukiah CA. Brake system: very poor, I would caution the need to slam on the brakes as they take much to long to engage.

While driver 47 mph to work this morning my rear windshield suddenly popped and shattered. I was not under on over hangs or buildings. There were no others cars even around me at the time. I did have the rear defrost on. The whole windshield broke and fell apart.

My hatch has been filling up with lots of water not too long after I began leasing it and it sloshes around, it is in my rear lights, has made the inside light of my hatch no longer work. Now, water is leaking in from both rear windows and somewhere in through the fabric of the inside back roof area creating a growing water stain and mold. Spare tire well in back also fills up with up to 2 inches of water. Mold, rust, electrical problems and more are the result. Honda has not yet taken care of it although I have had a diagnostic and see that it has been reported here multiple times.

My name is [xxx] - currently own Honda hrv. The Honda hrv was purchased late 2017. Recently after service recall by Honda my car was repaired for service recall by Honda dealer dealer - 2 days after rain the front passenger floor area next to driver was flooded with water - I immediately took car back to dealer and told them to look at what was wrong as we never had this problem earlier- the service manager told me that there will be charges to even look at it - which I refused to pay as the car I handed before service recall never had this issue. Now with the rains the passenger area next to driver gets flooded every time and after calling Honda they have not responded so far other than informing that they will look up in to it and call me - this has been frustrating experience as it is raining every day for last few days - so please help ASAP. Also checked on internet as one of my friends who has repair garage told me that had similar issue, so inspite of the fact that several of Honda cars have similar problem and it is all over internet ; how come Honda is not aware of this manufacturing defect. This is an serious issue if water remains inside the car will have mold and the car will not be usable - please inform what should a customer do the car is only 3 to 4 years old with just 33,000 miles on it. The paint on my 2018 Honda Hr-v is chipping on almost every surface of the vehicle. It started on the roof, which has turned into about a 2ft in length surface, and it is now peeling on all 4 doors.

A few months ago I started noticing water swishing in my trunk hatch. I took it to the dealership and they said they can look at it for $129 but they thought it was a bad seal. He asked if it had been in an accident but it hasn�t. I looked on the hrv online forum and there has been many people complaining about this very same thing. I think this should be a defect from the manufacturer and should be repaired or replaced at their cost. It could really cause damage to the hatch or the tail light safety. I bought this vehicle new in 2016.

My incident occurred in January 2020, within 2 weeks of purchase. The car was brand new. I was driving in my parking garage and turning into my parking spot. As I was making the turn to the right, I hit the brakes to slow down. Instead of reducing speed, the car accelerated and hit a cement pole next to my parking spot.
