Slowly pulling into head in parking in front of town homes and engine suddenly had sudden unintended acceleration . Car jumped curb, tried to brake but couldn't get car stopped and ran into end of group town home. Car is now in shop with about $8,000 to $9,000 dollars of damage. No knowledge of damage to home as geico insurance hasn't said checked with Honda online forum and others reports of same . Contacted Honda dealer and they said no reports of this now scared of this car as not sure it will not happen again.

I was going up a steep narrow road, a big truck was coming down so I stopped and honked so he would back up. When he did, I was unable to move my SUV. It frooze entirely, wouldnt go up, wouldnt go in reverse, just stayed on but would not move. After several attempts I was able to go back a little and move to a side and then I was able to drive up the road. This was the 2nd time this has happened so I asked the service shop at the dealer to check in driving the same road. The situation did not replicate, therefore they say theres nothing they can do or check, although I have read that this vehicle has been know to do this, but they did not even look at the printed evidence I took to them. . There were suggestions on what had to be checked but the manager refused to even read the information. The mechanic suggested I step on the gas up to the end, although the manual says you should hit gas slowly when stoping on a hill. Either way I tried both ways. . . . It still freezes.

While stopped at a traffic signal, the vehicle failed to restart when the light turned green. On another occasion, the vehicle stalled during operation and would not start. The engine would crank but there was no ignition. This created a safety risk because the vehicle was disabled in traffic and unable to move out of the roadway, increasing the risk of a rear-end collision or other crash. The vehicle was towed to a dealership for inspection. The dealer diagnosed a failed powertrain control module (pcm). The diagnosis indicated no spark and that the ignition coils were not receiving signal, although the crank sensor signal was present. The pcm was replaced, and the vehicle started and operated normally after replacement. No additional wiring, fuse, or grounding issues were identified. There were no prior warning lights, dashboard messages, or drivability symptoms before the failure occurred. The failure happened unexpectedly at approximately 52,889 miles. The replaced pcm is available through the servicing dealership if inspection is requested.

I've been the only owner to this 22' Honda hrv and I have serviced it at the dealer 90% of the time. All oil changes, coolant flush, transmission services etc. Done on time. I recently got it diagnosed at my local Honda dealer because it was starting to make a noise when you stepped on the gas. The noise started at about 95k miles and becomes louder as you increase the speed of the vehicle. The dealer diagnosed it with an internal transmission failure. There were no warning lights or messages ever. No prior check engine lights on or mechanical issues prior to this. I am very disappointed with this vehicle. Hopefully this issue is looked into. I do not hope for this to happen to anyone with this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2020 Honda Hr-v. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph or faster, and while driving uphill, the vehicle suddenly stalled. I was driving to work and everything on the dashboard lit up. It actively showed that the car was changing gears while I was in traffic. I pulled over and the car reader gave me error - p0793. We have a 2018 Honda hrv with only 86,000 miles. The car became sluggish and sounded like something went wrong with the engine. There was no prior alarm or lights on dashboard before everything began blinking. There is a service bulletin for this issue by Honda - 21-047 cvt belt deterioration warranty extension. Car is currently at Honda dealership and they denied us a good will request because we were 11 months and 29 days out of warranty.

We experienced two problems with our Honda hrv, which was purchased in June 2025 (less than a year ago). The first issue is that the engine started displaying warning lights and would not turn on. This was due to rodents chewing on the wires, which were apparently soy-based plastic. The second issue is that the rear windshield shattered for no reason the other day. This is apparently a known issue with 2023 and 2024 hrv vehicles that led to a recall, but it also appears to be occurring with the 2025 hrv.

The hrv is available for inspection upon request. It was taken to local Honda dealer for inspection based on the below: December 2025 - highway driving slightly over speed limit posting 70mph when a majority of the lights on the dashboard came on (transmission, abs brake, awd, engine light, almost all lights) and the car immediately lost speed power and had to emergently pull over into safe lane off the highway. Rpm revved irradically up to 6000. Tried to accelerate but it would sputter forward and did not want to shift transmission gears. Honda dealer has inspected the care and state that it needs transmission. The tech looked at it and did a magnet test which was positive information for him to tell me that it needed a transmission and ac belt. There is already a safety bulletin on this issue issued in 2021 covering all hrv models 2016-2000. The car has 112k and is 2020. It fits within the guidelines of the bulletin issued by Honda acknowledging that there is an issue with parts and manufacturing. It is bulletin #21-047: [xxx] Honda has stated my VIN does not qualify. Online forums discuss that other people have the same problem in which Honda corporate has told them the same thing. No notable warning signs. My safety was challenged and at risk when this happened without any warning at all. I was driving in high speed left lane and could have caused a severe accident with the immediate drop of speed by the car automatically. Vehicle was running from tampa florida to atlanta georgia and the oil drain plug was ejected and my vehicle lost compression and locked the steering wheel . *I had to maneuver off the highway to try not to cause damage to myself, my passenger and other vehicles. * yes, my vehicle was towed to the nearest Honda and it is stone mountain Honda located in georgia and they performed a diagnosis which indicates the ejection of the oil drain plug. This diagnosis was sent to westshore Honda in tampa florida where they performed maintenance by warranty and they did not want to accept the diagnosis. , the diagnosis was made at the stone mountain Honda dealership located in georgia. , it never turned on a warning light only the message when I managed to leave the road which said "your engine lost compression", this is the first time it happens to me with my 2025 Honda Hr-v sport and it happened on [xxx] at [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. Vehicle lost power 3 times within a 3 month period, with inability to go above 40 mph on the freeway. Dates of loss of power are: 8/31/25, 9/14/25, 11/16/25 safety is of grave concern due to loss of power and inability to drive over 40mph on freeway. Took into (2) dealerships three times and they were unable to diagnose issue. The vehicle has been inspected 3 times. This vehicle should be added to the recall listing as this is the same engine issue with losing power. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the failures.

The car is making a rotting sound when I start accelerating and it didn’t make that sound before. It feels like it is the catalytic converter. I bought this car brand new, so it is a bit annoying that I am having this issue with a new car that I been having it for less than 3 years.

As I was driving, the car slowed down and wouldn’t go past 20mph. It also lost power to the radio more than a few times and I just purchased the vehicle on 06/26/25.

My car’s warning lights came on and it had a hard time staying in gear. The engine was making a screeching sound and it stuttered when I drove it. I took it to my local mechanic and they found metal shavings and chunks in the transmission. They said they had seen this problem before. I called Honda and they requested I take it to Honda service station to do an additional assessment. Service center said the same thing- it was a faulty design in this make and model and the transmission belt was being ground down causing the metal chunks to cause damage. Honda is refusing to stand by their product and cover the cost of the repair.

I was driving to work when suddenly my car lost motor function and just stopped, despite me pushing the gas pedal. This has happened to me at least 4 times now since owning the car for less than two years. I have almost been rear-ended each time. This time, however, my car did not want to start back up again. It flashed the battery and oil light on my dash and proceeded to tell me to hit the brake and push button to start (even though it was running), so I turned the vehicle off and attempted to start it again like I have in the past when encountering this issue. When I went to re-start the car, it sputtered and wouldn't start until I waited and tried again. I am very concerned, as I have a dog that I have in the backseat and if I get rear-ended, I will sue if there are injuries. I want a call about this immediately, as it is often pushed aside and I am fed up.

Not sure of the cause, but my vehicle burst in the flames unexpectedly. Prior to fire, the vehicle was running very well and up to date on maintenance. We were driving and smoke started coming from the hood. Suddenly the screens/monitors turned off on the vehicle. We pulled over, off the street as quickly as possible. Heard popping sounds, exited the vehicle. Then it burst into flames. Police showed to the scene first. Fire department arrived shortly after to put out the fire.

Pulling out on a busy road making a left turn across traffic my hrv lost all ability to accelerate. I coast off the road put in park and turned off the ignition. I the restarted the vehicle and have not had the issue again, it's been a week. However I had this happen twice last year and took my vehicle back to jones Honda to have them diagnose the issue. They can find no issue. When this happens I'm always making a left turn. No lights on the dashboard come on either.

My 2017 Honda hrv 1. 8 the transmission went bad it started to lose speed and a the was making a lot of noise so I stopped the can an have not move the car it has around 120k + miles.

On Thursday last week, I went out to my car that I have parked in the garage the day before I had no issues with the vehicle drove it all day, but on Thursday, I left home to go out to make some errands hopped in my car and I tried to start it. First car wouldn’t turn on, so I thought maybe I should turn off headlights and interior lights. Then I waited a few minutes and thought maybe the cold temperatures was messing with the car. So I just walked away from the car and I got a battery slow drip thinking that the battery might be dead but battery said it had a full charge at 100% charge. So I tried my battery tester battery said battery was about 100% fully charged. So I waited until my friends got home so they could witness that I wasn’t crazy. The only thing the car did after trying to start again was make a clicking sound for about three minutes then the dash lit up like a christmas tree. Every light came on every hazard that was built into the car was on saying that it needs a dealer to be checked or fixed so I called my local Honda dealership and they said that I should call roadside assistance because the car wouldn’t start. So before I could call roadside, I tried to jumpstart the car and nothing happened. So I went back in the house and about a two minutes later, the car crank and started itself, and it stayed on, but when I tried to turn it off, it told me that it could not be turned off due to some reason, I can’t remember from what it said on Thursday. So Thursday afternoon, I drove it up to our local Honda dealership and on the way up there the car shut off twice on the highway in motion which scared the mess out of me because I thought I was going to have an accident then about a mile from the dealership, the dashboard went black and so did the touchscreen, but then it came back on. But long story short local dealership said there’s nothing they can do to duplicate the issue in the car would not be fixed so I’m concerned that something else might happen.

I am not sure what part of the system is failing. While driving on the high the car just stopped no warning just stopped it went from 55- 60 miles an hour on 287 all the way to 20 and then stopped. This was all random. Then it was taken to a independent service who ran the codes and none of them stayed so I drove the car again and all that happened before happened once again. The independent service told me its the transmission and they are not sure why its happening he noted that these Hondas have transmission issue.

I contacted Honda on November 18th 2024 about the recall and was told my name would be put on a list and I’d be contacted when the part became available. My mother went into the dover, delaware Honda location today, [xxx], to inquire about an eta on the recalled part and she was told that the recalled part “was not being released”. She was also told, by the assistant service manager that he waited 8 months for this recalled part to be fixed on his vehicle. He could not give me an estimated time on when they’d receive the part, but my car is definitely affected by the recalled part (stalling and my car not being able to start are some of the issues affected by this faulty part) and I don’t want to risk my life in an accident, simply trying to get to work, while waiting for a part that Honda may not have available for 6-8 months. It has been 6 times that we have needed to jump start the car. The time that I start it before it actually needs a jump you notice the screen and ac take a minute or two to turn on after you have already turned on the car. Today it started fine and the second time it needed a jump start. I contacted aaa the first time it happened, they checked the battery at the dealer and everything looked great on the dealers end. They mentioned to record any mishaps. My friend who has a 2023 Honda h-RV sport has reported that she is experiencing similar problems where her car also needs a jump start. I now carry a portable jumper by how often this issue has been occurring.

Emissions systems problem.

My car frequently accelerates or brakes on its own. It gives brake warnings when no one is near me and the brake or accelerator get stuck.

While driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled. The oil and battery warning lights illuminated. After shutting the vehicle off and turning it over 3 times, the vehicle's engine restarted. 2020 Honda Hr-v touring with 16,900 miles. Manufactured on 1/'20.

I recently had my car repaired for the recall and a brake job (replacing pads and resurfacing rotors). A couple of days later, I was driving on the highway at about 60mph. Suddenly, the check engine light, parking brake light, brake light, and brake system light all went on. Additionally, the car was flashing neutral, drive, and parking gears while I was in park and driving. I started to slow down and realized that as my speed got slower, each new low speed became the highest speed I could go - pressing the gas with my foot did not increase the speed. As such, I drove to a nearby garage where the lights were reset. No mechanical issues were found with the car, nor was there a warning. I then called the dealership that had performed the service (dch paramus Honda in new jersey) and I was informed that it was unlikely they would be able to diagnose any issues as the lights had been reset so the car was driveable. It seemed very dangerous that these issues could happen at any time. The brake system was put in maintenance mode during my brake job, so I suspect this was a computer issue rather than a mechanical problem.

I have had this car repaired and diagnosed by 5 different dealerships, I have had leak test done the check engine and parking brake light keep coming on with the word “park” flashing when I drive. The codes say purge valve which has been replaced 3 times!!! it also says fuel leak and they did a smoke test for a leak but nothing!! there is something faulty with this and it’s only a matter of time before it reacts poorly while driving and kills someone. There are several other people online dealing with the same issues for the 2016 Honda hrv there needs to be an investigation before someone dies from whatever is faulty in this system I have been complaining about this since 2021!!! it keeps coming back.

A dash light indicator came on in my car. The image was not in any of the materials that came with the car. At that time the lcd information on the dash flickered and went out. I cannot see how much gas I have, when I need an oil change, odometers etc. I also seem to have decreased power when I attempt to accelerate . I am also aware of 2 recalls that came out in 2021 and 2023. I had the code read and it indicated an "evaporative system leak detection". As of 5/14/2024 I had 15,828 miles on the car, in about 5 years so it should not be failing. I recently got a new job and am required to commute 50 miles each way. I am so terrified because I have tried the 2 nearest dealers in my area (union park Honda in wilm. De and Honda of springfield PA). I have received zero consideration. I have had my car scheduled to go in and I have to call them as I need a loaner. I never move up on the list and then I am treated like I did not show up (I call the day before). When I was young I had anxiety and could not drive. I worked and pushed myself to be able to drive again and I have been for years. These issues are starting to make me more fearful and anxious. I actually asked the cs rep "jade" where the car was manufactured ( japan, korea?) and if I should drive my car to japan for service. Her exact words were "that is up to you". Unbelievable.
