The digital instrument cluster in this 2019 Honda Hr-v suddenly failed, resulting in the loss of the speedometer, odometer, and dashboard display functions. The failure occurred without warning and is not due to wear, misuse, or routine maintenance. Operating the vehicle without a functioning speedometer or odometer presents a serious safety risk, including potential speeding, traffic violations, and accidents. Other warning indicators integrated into the digital display may also be inaccessible, further compounding the safety hazard. Honda has diagnosed the problem and quoted a repair cost of $2,166. 08. Goodwill assistance was previously denied in my case, citing that the vehicle is out of warranty and not subject to a recall. The vehicle is regularly used to transport family members, including a pregnant passenger (due March 2026). Continued operation in this condition is unsafe and unacceptable. The fuel gauge on the right hand side malfunctions in cold/wet weather, causing information such as distance until empty, to become illegible. When this happens, the display also flickers rapidly, which may be problematic to some with epilepsy. My vehicle, 2025 Honda hrv ex-l is experiencing paint defects. It does not even have 3000 miles on it, and the paint is peeling. The color is crystal black pearl, and even though outdoor elements are removed from the vehicle immediately, the car is still experiencing paint damage. The paint is cracking and peeling off in multiple areas where outside elements have hit it (tree sap, bird poop, pollen, etc. ), the damage is still occurring even if removed immediately. Honda will not honor their paint defect warranty, as they claim this is environmental damage that would not be covered under their paint defect warranty. I was informed that their paint warranty only covers events where the paint is bubbling and cracking from under the paint, or rust is occurring. This defect is happening on a new vehicle, whereas older modeled black vehicles at the same residence, who leaves these environmental elements on the cars longer than I, do not experience the same damage in the slightest. Another vehicle within the same household that was purchased at the same Honda dealership, about 2 months prior to my purchase, same environment/neighborhood/outside exposure, just different make (crv) and color (blue) and isn't experiencing paint damage like this black crystal pearl color on the Hr-v. Having to pay over $2000 out of pocket to fix the paint on these areas.

I am experiencing repeated water intrusion in the front passenger footwell of my 2017 Honda Hr-v. The flooding occurs during or after moderate rainfall. The water pools under the carpet and creates a damp environment that could lead to mold, electrical damage, and safety hazards. I’ve researched this issue and found that many other Hr-v owners have reported similar problems, especially in 2016–2018 models. There appear to be technical service bulletins (tsbs) related to cabin water leaks and a/c drain line issues, but no official recall has been issued. This issue poses a potential health and safety risk due to mold exposure and possible electrical malfunction. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter and consider whether a recall or manufacturer action is warranted.

Metal shards from the belt are breaking off into the fluid and damaging the transmission. This led to issues with the dashboard and issues with the braking system as well.
Extensive and widespread peeling and DE-lamination of paint across entire vehicle beginning in 2025 (two years after extended warranty expired). About $6000 to repair and Honda refusing to assist/contribute to repairs.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a severe and widespread paint peeling/delamination defect on my 2018 Honda Hr-v, which is painted in the white orchid pearl (nh-788p) color. Nature of the defect: the exterior clear coat and base coat are separating from the underlying primer, resulting in large, unsightly patches of paint peeling and flaking off the vehicle's body panels. This is a clear manufacturing adhesion failure, not damage due to wear, tear, or external environmental factors. Manufacturer acknowledgment: american Honda motor CO. , inc. Previously acknowledged this defect by issuing a warranty extension (technical service bulletin 19-064, issued August 29, 2019) for specific models, including the 2016-2018 Hr-v, extending the warranty coverage for this specific paint problem to 7 years from the original date of purchase with no mileage limit. The current issue: my vehicle has recently begun exhibiting this peeling condition, which is consistent with the defect covered under TSB 19-064. However, I have been informed by the dealer/Honda customer service that the 7-year warranty extension period has expired as of 2024, and they are refusing to cover the cost of the necessary repainting, which can cost thousands of dollars. Request for action: the underlying problem is a manufacturing defect that exists for the life of the vehicle and is only now manifesting due to premature failure. Limiting the remedy to a seven-year period is inadequate for a defect that is inherent to the production process and directly affects the vehicle's structural integrity over time (potential for rust exposure). I respectfully request that the office of defects investigation review the data related to this known manufacturing defect (Honda white pearl paint peeling, TSB 19-064) and consider the following actions: re-open or extend the investigation: investigate the ongoing nature of this failure and the adequacy of Honda’s limited remedy. Compel an expanded remedy: pressure.

I bought this car because of the Honda name and it’s been a disappointment. Not only does my display flicker in and out, my heater has completely gone out. The heater box and connecting wires need to be replaced, which to me is a factory default, but nope it’s coming out of pocket. And beaches of the location it’s going to be expensive. Don’t buy the 2020 hrv.

There is an issue with the Honda software for the head unit in 2026 Honda hrv that is rendering the apple carplay almost useless as is not working properly and it causes a safety hazards. A 2026 new vehicle that allows for hands free use of carplay functions such as reading text out loud and responding to texts allows for safe driving, this is not functional ad there are hundreds of people in forums all talking about this. Almost everyone who brings this to the dealer says the dealer claims they know nothing about this, same happened to me, but it certainly seems this is an across the board issue in 2026 hrvs from the research I have done. It sounds like Honda changed the software for the 2026 hrvs and this is happening to people with 2026 hrvs.
I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a defect in my 2018 Honda Hr-v, specifically with the white orchid pearl paint (paint code nh-788p). This issue appears to be widespread, as evidenced by a previous warranty extension issued by Honda in 2019 and ongoing class action lawsuits related to paint delamination on affected models. I purchased a 2018 Honda Hr-v in June 2020, unaware of any pre-existing paint defects. Recently, I have noticed significant peeling of the paint on the roof in four distinct places. The affected paint is the white orchid pearl color with code nh-788p, which matches the vehicles covered under Honda's 2019 warranty extension for paint delamination issues. This extension was issued following reports of the clear coat and paint layers separating, leading to peeling, flaking, and exposure of the underlying primer or metal. This defect is not due to any fault of my own, such as improper maintenance or environmental damage beyond normal use. The vehicle has been garaged and maintained according to Honda's recommendations. Despite this, the paint failure has resulted in an estimated devaluation of my vehicle by up to $5,000, based on comparable market values for similar models without this issue. I have no recourse through Honda, leaving me with significant financial loss and a vehicle that is aesthetically compromised and potentially prone to further deterioration, such as rust if the peeling exposes metal. While paint peeling may not immediately present as a safety hazard, it could lead to other issues and Honda should be accountable for their vehicles. I request that NHTSA investigate this matter, review the existing warranty extension and TSB, and consider mandating a recall or further extension to cover repairs for affected owners like myself. Please contact me at 205-335-1688 or sbrocato2@gmail. Com for any additional information. . Thank you for your attention to this complaint. I look forward to your response.
I have major peeling paint issues on my 2019 Honda Hr-v with white paint. The top of the car ( roof) and in the hatch area.

Merging into traffic and car began shaking, stuttering, dash lights all flashing. Pulled to side of highway + shut vehicle off. Checked exterior of vehicle + tires, all ok. Turned back on and unable to drive it safely. Got to tires plus (closest open facility) cvt belt deteriorated in transmission. Notorious issue for the 2017 Hr-v. Towed to o'malley Honda in wausau, WI, for 2nd opinion. Concurred with transmisdion replacement needed due to deteriorating cvt belt. Would like financial assistance to repair vehicle.
Our Honda hrv driver side visor has broken. It’s been broke 2 years. My warranty won’t cover it, but it hangs in the driver eyesight. You push it up and it hangs down at a 45 degree angle in the drivers eyesight. It you pull it back, it won’t go back up to the roof.
I was driving normally, and a car was coming up to a stop sign from my right side on a completely different road and the car jerked and the brakes automatically applied to the car and the dash blinked “brake” for a brief moment. I’ve had the car for awhile and it has never done anything like that. Some days the blind spot doesn’t work either, when I know there is a car next to me the light on the mirrors and the beeping does not activate.

White pearl paint has started peeling off the roof of my car. It is not a safety issue. Honda is declining to cover the extended warranty on the paint although I brought it to the dealer before the warranty was up. The dealer took photos and informed me they would be contacting Honda corporate. Honda corporate states the dealer did not contact them.
While I was driving, my sunroof on my 2025 Honda hrv exl exploded. There was nothing that hit it or caused the sunroof to break. I know this due to there being no rock or material inside the area below the sunroof. Also, I would have heard an additionally sound if there were other objects involved, but instead it was one loud crash. I was able to get into contact with a Honda dealership in san diego and they told me that someone had brought their vehicle in about a month ago for that same issue. I also did some research and found that previous years (2024/2023) Honda hrv's and crv's have had similar issues. I took my car to Honda to get it fixed today and asked them to inspect it for a manufacturer error and hopefully replace it free of charge since this vehicle was purchased in April 2025. They told me that I would have to pay for the damage and file a complaint with corporate. I compared a picture of my sunroof to sunroofs from previous owners' vehicles that have also claimed that it simply "exploded" and they look identical. A picture of my sunroof and a sunroof that was hit by a rock or other debris do not look the same at all.
On [xxx], the vehicle unexpectedly shut down while I was driving. After having the car towed to Honda of fort myers for inspection, I was informed that the ground wire had been tampered with—something typically associated with prior accident damage. This is deeply concerning as I was not made aware of any such damage or tampering at the time of purchase. Additionally, I was charged $738 to retrieve my vehicle from Honda of fort myers. Despite multiple attempts to contact your customer care department, including a call where I was placed on hold for over 30 minutes, I have yet to receive any meaningful assistance or follow-up. I have also filed a complaint with the better business bureau, to which I received a response from jp directing me to a carfax report that does not address the actual issue at hand. For your reference, the vehicle has only had one oil change since purchase, which was performed through kia of cape coral. I am requesting immediate attention to this matter and a resolution to hold the dealership accountable for selling a vehicle with undisclosed damage or tampering. Thank you. Since the 2019 Honda Hr-v vehicle check engine light has come on numerous times, the vehicle is squeaking, the tire lights have come on numerous times, airbags light is on, the fuel cap light has come on engine temperature light comes on any more questions can be emailed or called. Thanks kindly.
Not sure of the cause, but my vehicle burst in the flames unexpectedly. Prior to fire, the vehicle was running very well and up to date on maintenance. We were driving and smoke started coming from the hood. Suddenly the screens/monitors turned off on the vehicle. We pulled over, off the street as quickly as possible. Heard popping sounds, exited the vehicle. Then it burst into flames. Police showed to the scene first. Fire department arrived shortly after to put out the fire.
Keeps popping up my safety features has problems and says see my dealer but they said nothing is wrong with it and I have a picture.
Complaint to NHTSA – Honda Hr-v transmission failure and safety risk I purchased a used 2018 Honda Hr-v, and the day after purchase, I noticed unusual noises coming from the vehicle. I took it to a certified Honda dealer, where they updated the transmission software without my consent or prior notice. After the update, the car suddenly stalled on the highway, creating a serious safety risk. The dealership then informed me that the transmission is failing, and that this is a wider issue among Hr-vs. There is a known extended warranty (7 years/150,000 miles) on the cvt transmission, but my vehicle is only 6 months past the time limit and still under 110,000 miles. Honda corporate has denied a goodwill claim, despite the safety issue and my history as a loyal Honda customer. I currently own four Honda vehicles, and this situation has raised major concerns about the safety and reliability of the Hr-v’s transmission. I’m filing this complaint because I believe this is part of a systemic transmission defect that has not been adequately addressed, and the sudden failure after a dealer-initiated update poses a significant safety hazard.
My vehicle keeps saying the sensors are not working see dealer.
Water has been leaking into interior part of my hatchback and has moved into the tail lights for years. Honda dealerships have been aware of that problem I have been having. Now water is leaking inside the car causing the seatbelts to be wet and the seats to be wet and damaged and the interior headliner is soaked and dripping inside the car. I currently have the car at the dealership. They could not figure out what was causing this in their initial diagnosis. Now they want to take off the headliner for a ridiculous sum in which I can not afford. I called Honda customer care as I believe my car has a manufacturer defect from the beginning. There has been recalls on other vins with this exact problem, but they refuse to acknowledge that my car had these issues and should be fixed like the ones that were recalled. I believe my car should be part of that recall and fixed. The dealer has been dealing with my car leakage problems that have gotten significantly worse. Honda customer service refuses to call the dealer to have them do a diagnosis. Honda wants me to pay the outrageous fee the dealer wants to charge me. The dealer wants to charge me $1395. 00 just to look at the car. That’s not even to fix it. I am aware of a class action lawsuit that Honda is knowingly selling cars with defective sunroof issues. My car has a sunroof in it. The dealer claims my sunroof is not the problem. I want this looked into please as there are many complaints out there about hrv and roof leaking. Not to mention recalls for leakage in Hondas. Dealer wants me to trade in my car. I feel they are trying to cover up what’s really going on with these cars and roof leakage.
The gauge cluster sometimes fails to work at all and flashes multiple times when returning to normal. I cannot see speed, mileage, fuel level, oil life, or car temperature. It is a continuing issue.
For safety feature, the key unlock all the doors instead of driver's door only. There is no option to unlock driver's door only.
In November 2024, I purchased a 2021 Honda Hr-v with approximately 65,881 miles from carvana, which conducted an inspection and found no issues. However, just four months later, while driving on the highway, my vehicle suddenly went into neutral, and all warning lights came on. It was a terrifying experience, as I narrowly avoided a collision with a semi-truck before the car shut off entirely. I was lucky to make it to the side of the road safely. Upon having the car towed to my mechanic, it was discovered that the transmission sensor contained metal shards, indicating an internal transmission failure likely due to a factory defect. This was further confirmed by an authorized Honda dealer, who found that the cvt belt had disintegrated and that this was unrelated to wear and tear. Given the fact that my vehicle was less than four years old with 74,165 miles on it, this is a clear indication of a serious factory defect. This is a video of someone else cvt transmission that failed: [xxx] freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. Front window- the front window malfunctioned and will all of a sudden go up and down several times. I am making a report with the dealership but, this is a huge risk since someone can unknowly get themselves stuck. Doors & trunk lock- the doors and trunk will lock without being prompted to. I have a child that has been unable to get out of the vehicle. The trunk gets stuck as well and will not open. Even after shutting and restarting the vehicle. This will also be reported to the dealership.
Transmission fill cap plug keeps blowing out and leaves open hole into transmission for rain, debris and another road debris to enter into transmission. My car has 80k miles and has been happening every 5-10k miles resulting in having to buy new transmission fill cap and have a transmission flush almost as often as needing to change the oil.
Me and my grandkids had a scary experience sitting in my 2023 Honda hrv in parking lot with the vehicle off. The back window exploded around the perimeter. The window started making a crackling sound then completely shattered. I have owned the vehicle for just about a year. I took the car to the dealership in regards to this issue and spoke with a manager who approved repairing the window and having an electrical inspection. He advised the window would be ordered and to check back in a few days for repair and inspection. When I reached back out to the dealership I was advised by a tech that the rear glass had not been ordered. The rear glass has now been ordered, however, now I'm being told that the glass is on backorder with 149 orders before me. When I asked tech how long it would take to get repaired he didn't have an answer and told me to check every week. In the mean time I asked if the inspection can be done; I'm still pending getting an appointment for the electrical inspection.
Two times I have been driving in busy areas and when I brought my car to a stop at red lights and it’s turned green, my car will no longer move, but stays running so then I have to turn it off and turn it back on for it to gain motor function again. I have almost been rear-ended twice.
Car completely died at a stop light while in drive but just stopped. Restarted it and it was sluggish. 2 red lights came on in middle of display but disappeared before I could see what they were.
Rear window glass shattered while I was driving to work Sunday 01/12/2025.
