While I was going 5-10mph over a railroad crossing, the steering wheel airbag deployed as my front tires went over the grade crossing. The airbag also went left instead of straight. My hand is bruised and it sounded like a gunshot went off in my vehicle. After the deployment, the vehicle was still driveable. I drove it to a Honda dealership and they were very concerned and called corporate.

2 Air Bag problem of the 2019 Honda Insight

Failure Date: 09/04/2024

While driving on or around September 4th, 2024, a warning light appeared on my dashboard. The warning stated “supplemental restraint system (srs) problem. See your dealer. ” I took my car to hare Honda for an inspection and service on September 18th, 2024, and was informed that the diagnostic process would need the car to be in the shop overnight. I rescheduled my diagnostic service for September 26, 2024. On the 26th, I received a notification regarding the diagnostic test and the warning turned out to be an internal issue with the air bag control module and it needed to be replaced. The cost for this replacement was quoted at $1,353. 91. I tried searching for any recalls for my vehicle and could not find any active ones. I dug a little deeper and found out that Honda has a safety recall for the same srs issue regarding the module used to deploy airbags. The NHTSA recall number is 18v664000 and the Honda recall numbers are b2r, c2p, and z2q. I tried searching for a place to claim that my car should be part of a recall that is no longer active, but I could not find a place to submit a claim for it until I found the reporting tool for the NHTSA. Any assistance would be appreciated, especially because this seems to be part of the same part that had a recall in the past and I was not notified. Looking forward to hearing from anyone! I will likely have to approve the service because I am using my car for an extended road journey on October 3rd. 2024.

3 Air Bag problem of the 2021 Honda Insight

Failure Date: 03/01/2024

I received the "important safety recall" letter in March 2024 from the Honda automobile division regarding the seat weight sensor circuit board. The letter said that in a crash, the airbags could deploy in a dangerous fashion. I have called my Honda dealer three times since that date. Today, sept. 10, 2024, I was told again that the dealer did not have the parts to perform the repair, and that it had no idea when it would receive them. I called the national Honda number. Same answer. I called 888-327-4236 to see if NHTSA had more information, held on the phone, then provided my number for a call back. When the NHTSA returned the call, the line was choppy. Either the call dropped, or she hung up on me. She did not call back. I have waited patiently for five months. Neither NHTSA nor my local Honda dealer is able or willing to tell me when this safety issue will be resolved. What is the problem and what is NHTSA doing about it?.

There was nothing wrong with my car previously. I was driving down a main road in my town and accidentally tried turning in somewhere that wasn't a road, going under 10mph I rode atop an island in the road and my steering wheel airbag popped. I do not know if that is supposed to happen when driving at such a speed but I believe it shouldn't have. The damage has not yet been inspected. My safety was put in danger as I freaked out over said airbag being popped. There is no other damage to the car.

The contact is a police officer with the florida highway patrol. The deceased owned a 2010 Honda Insight. The vehicle was at a stop sign attempting to traverse an intersection. The deceased vehicle struck the left front of another vehicle that was in the intersection with the front end of the vehicle. The air bag deployed in the deceased vehicle, the other vehicle's air bag did not deploy. The deceased was transported by ambulance and pronounced dead at a trauma center. The air bag was identified as a takata air bag, and following an autopsy, one metal fragment from the inflator was found lodged in the deceased's chest. The florida highway patrol was on scene and wrote a report. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

6 Air Bag problem of the 2020 Honda Insight

Failure Date: 09/16/2022

On September 16, 2022, I was in an accident where a driver hit me on the rear passenger side. I went a through a green light of an intersection on the mopac n feeder road and duvall. Either both our lights were green or the other driver was dishonest and his was red. Every airbag deployed. Based on the impact, it would be highly unlikely to sustain a cracked sternum. The impact was to the right and slightly behind me. I have requested information from Honda America on the airbags and they refuse. They further insulted me by telling to go to a dealership. After this, Honda is the last car I would purchase or lease. Having worked at dealerships for many years, I am certain Honda knows, as well as I do, that the dealer cannot or will not give me compete information on the airbags. My car was maintained and in amazing condition. The last time I was at first texas Honda for service, the advisor brought it around because they were very busy. He said he was stunned it had 125,000 miles on it. It drove like it was brand new. Please see photos and reports. If you need any further information, please let me know.

I was driving on the freeway driving approx 70 mph when I was involved in a near head on collision from another car that had lost control and spun around into me. And the air bags did not deploy causing my head to hit the driver side pillar and I have shoulder and lower back pain and right knee pain.

I was involved in an accident on 6/9/2021, where I was rear ended which caused tremendous damage. No air bags deployed. I have a fractured nose, large bump on head, whiplash, very badly hurt left arm and also have problems with my right motor skills.

The floor wire harness under the driver's seat was incorrectly routed and caused the harness to break when the seat was moved to close to the end of the back. This break then caused the a fuse to blow "freezing" the drivers seat and the secondary restrain system (srs) to fail with a warning light. The car was inspected by howdy Honda and confirmed that the cable (harness) was routed incorrectly. Nobody else has inspected the vehicle. This incident occurred in may of 2021. Here are the words from ali bharwani, the Honda agent that inspected the car: hello enrique, the problem with your vehicle is that the section of harness going from the floor to your seat was wrapped around a portion of the lower seat frame. Because the harness was wrapped and did not have it normal length of travel the seat could not move it's full length of travel. The reason that the seat restraint lights are on is because of the added tension on these wires from being wrapped up. Some of the wires broke resulting in the warning indicators illuminating. This is a safety issue for several reasons. One you cannot adjust your seat to comfortably fit a driver of different sizes. Secondly with the warning indicators on for the supplimental restraint system, in the event of a collision, the airbags, seat restraints, and other safety features will not activate.

Was in a car accident costing $7,000 idamage and the airbags didn't deploy. Hit my head on driver door window. Dealer said they replaced the srs harness. The structure was damaged so the airbags should have deployed.

15 Air Bag problem of the 2010 Honda Insight

Tl the contact owns a 2010 Honda Insight. While driving 30 mph, the brakes failed to stop the vehicle when the brake pedal was depressed. As a result, the contact crashed into the preceding vehicle. The air bags deployed with force and injured the contact's face and lower back, which required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.

My complaint is about my car I had an accident on September 26, 2018, in binghamton NY. My airbag was deployed, the seatbelt was damage, and also the front bumper. After I had the accident I received a recall paper and when I verified the number I found I had a recall. I called and talked to them, I also send the first complaint. They sent me an application I filled it out and sent it back. When I call they said to me they still working on it. I recently received another recall paper I called just to be inform about everything.

Takata recall. I have called my dealer multiple times to find out any information regarding getting the airbag replaced and the dealer will not call me back. I have left multiple messages they are left unanswered. This recall came out over a year ago and it still is left undone. The other dealers around the area won't even take a look at it. I do not feel safe driving my vehicle. The dealers should not be treating the customers this way especially when it comes down to safety.

I was driving along on the high way driving normally and all of a sudden my steering wheel airbag went off, I hit my brakes immediately out of fear. My hand was cut, bruised and slightly bleeding. Luckily I didn't hit anyone. From my understanding this model of car is in recall, yet my VIN isn't one of them. It scares me that this has been a ticking time bomb since I bought this car new. I feel lost since Honda says my car isn't one that needs to be recalled, yet why would my air bag just deploy while driving?.

Takata recall. Received recall notice, saying that I would be notified when dealer had the replacement parts with an expected date of summer 2016. I emailed the dealership, but have yet to hear from them. The car is currently parked in garage. I don't want to sell or trade until the car is safe to drive, but this has gone on for a very long time. I just checked the Honda website. Their completion rate is less than 50%, yet they are seemingly very happy with that rate! that's outrageous!.

Airbag recall. This issue was supposedly fixed a few years ago and then I received another recall notice almost a year ago about another air bag recall. Honda has yet to fix this. What is the hold up? I contacted Honda a few months ago and they said they haven't received the part. When will my vehicle finally get fixed?.

I was never notified from the manufacturer that my new car was under recall for a year. I only found out when I took it in to get regular service. My son bought his car, also a 2013 Insight, and he was never notified. I am livid. Please hold them accountable for notifying owners there is a danger.

Takata recall, I have two car seats for my son and daughter in the back seat of the car which makes it impossible for us to follow Honda's suggestion to not allow passengers in the front passenger seat. Honda has stated that they are not providing rental vehicles. I've contacted Honda about this issue and been given a case #. However, it has now been 4 weeks since my initial request for a rental car waiver from Honda and no one has responded to my claim. Upon calling Honda on the 11th of August, I was told that no one at their customer service center could access case files. So, now I can't even get an update on the progress.

This morning (Aug 6, 2016), myself and my dad met with an accident and was driving Honda Insight 2011 lx model. Note that my dad was sitting in the front passenger seat. Let me describe the accident. I was about to park my car in front of sprouts grocery store in the parking available spot just facing sprouts. So you can imagine that I was about to park my car and the speed was around 5mph. All of a sudden, I could feel my Insight engine experiencing sudden acceleration automatically and then I was trying to apply the leg brake to make sure it doesn't speed up. Suddenly, the Insight started speeding up and didn't stop even after slamming on the brake and it jumped on the parking curb and finally hit the concrete pillar in front of sprouts resulting in deploying the driver air-bag and the passenger air-bags. My windshield developed a deep crack and I believe my car is going to be totalled. With that, it didn't stop, after hitting so hard the concrete wall, remember the car was still in drive mode and not in reverse mode, all of a sudden, the car started moving backwards and even didn't stop after slamming on the leg brake. Then I came out of the shock and applied my hand brake and turn off the ignition to stop the car moving backwards. Luckily, this crash didn't cause any bodily injury to any third parties but I had some bruises on my right arm developed due to some metal pieces from the takata air-bag.
