1)power sliding doors do not operate properly. Intermittently, doors won't open, doors open partially and stop, and doors close partially and stop. More importantly, power doors do not stop and retract when pressure is applied in accordance with manual. Today was the fourth time that one of my children hesitated when exiting the van and was stuck within the doorway when the door was automatically closing. Not only did the door not stop and retract when it reached my child's body, but did not stop even when I placed the full pressure of my body against the door. Today, my daughter was thrown out of the van to the ground and I incurred bruising on my left shoulder where I had braced my body against the door to stop it from advancing over her body. I have reported these problems to the dealership time and again. In 2000, they replaced some parts but the problems still occur with regularity. 2)some of the seat belts, particularly the one in the second row, driver's side, jams constantly. We are very often unable to use that seat because the seat belt gets stuck when being drawn out to be buckled. 3)the rear hatch is sometimes inoperable. The unlock button of the remote must be pressed 5 or more times for the hatch to unlock, and even then, it releases only partially. Since there is no release inside the car, this is extremely inconvenient and could be dangerous, in combination with the doors not working properly.
Both of my 2000 Honda Odyssey sliding doors could not be opened today. They get stuck very often. It seems to be related to moisture getting into the door because they get stuck most often after bad weather. The danger here is if there an accident and the doors can not be opened to get out a child from either the inside or the outside.
Passenger rear sliding door sticks. The handle broke when trying to open the door. I've read online that this is a common defect.
Consumer complained about sliding door on the passenger's side failed to open after the doors had been unlocked. This happened several times. This might become a problem if a passenger was trying to get out of the vehicle in case of an emergency.
While driving passenger's sliding door intermittently opened. Consumer pulled over to shut the door. Dealerships mechanic wasnotified, but did not resolve the problem.
The automated power sliding doors on our 2000 Honda Odyssey minivan does not latch properly. While driving the car we get an alarm light on our dash indicating a automated sliding door is not properly closed, and then we have to repeatedly hit the close door button to get the door to finally engage. Even though all Odyssey's made in 2000 were recalled for this problem, Honda motor has told us that our 2000 Odyssey is not included in 2000 recall campaign, and we will have to pay to repair it ourselves.
Since purchasing a 2000 odysessy ex, I have had repeated problems with both sliding doors. Once again today, neither door would open. I have had latches replaced, handles replaces, remotes replaced and still the problem is as bad as ever. The passenger side door generally never closes properly and the door ajar light constantly flickers on and off forcing me to shut the lights in the vehicle off so they stop flashing. Whenever the weather is damp or cold, the doors will not work. Tonight I had the car running for more than an hour and the doors still would not open. After multiple trips to the dealer there is either an attempt to get me to replace every conceivable part hoping to fix the problem or they simply are unable to repair this situation. Not only is it extremely inconvenient to get 4 children in and out through the front doors, but it is dangerous. If there was ever a need to quickly exit the vehicle from an accident or other situation, it often times would be impossible since the doors wouldn't work. After 18 months dealing with this situation, I've had enough. I think it is a serious design flaw which the dealers simply can not fix. I'm willing to bet the original owner traded it in because of the same situation because it started for me the first day we owned the vehicle.
During a recent (mild) snow storm, both the power sliding doors on my 2000 Honda Odyssey minivan refused to open. After a few attempts, the motors of both doors gave up altogether; the beeping sound that indicates the blocking of doors also stopped. When I tried to open the driver's side door, the handle broke off. I had the door motors repaired at my Honda dealer. They told me that the contacts were moist and therefore the doors did not work. At 42. 000 miles I thought this was odd, but I could accept such a defect. I am really concerned, though, about the fact that the door handle broke off just like that. I have two children (4 and 5). The youngest cannot get out of his car seat by himself and I could not get to him quickly. Fortunately, we were not in an accident. I notified Honda about this and I herewith report the issue. I hope that Honda will pay for the repairs, even though the car is no longer under warranty for these matters. I contact the NHTSA also, since I feel this is a major issue. I know that I did not apply any unreasonable force to the door handle to make it break. I can easily imagine someone (in a panic?) doing the same.
Rear door latch will not close properly. Driver took vehicle to the dealer for analysis. Mechanic recommended that the latch be replaced due to a worn part.
While driving front passenger sliding door opened, causing the consumer to pull over to close the door. Recall . The dealership was notified of the problem, but will not repair because VIN was not included.
Consumer was having the same problems as mentined in recall 00v119000 concerning sliding door latch. Dealer would not repair because the VIN was not included.
I have a 2000 Honda Odyssey. On August 2nd, I was pumping gas at a gas station on the north side. The gas nozzle was in the gas tank. The sliding automatic door is not supposed to come open when gas is being pumped, however it did. I tried to stop the door, but couldn't, ended up cutting my hand, the door jammed, the pump was stuck, gas cap holder came undone and couldn't get the gas door shut. My paint is scratched on the gas door and the gas door cannot be opened with the gas lever release button inside the car. An attendant at the station came to help, but I do believe that this is a severe fire hazard.
Problems with electrical systems on 2000 Honda Odyssey. Power locks, cruise control, and power doors.
Had the door latch break on right side and was repaired. Then have on going issues of trying to open the sliding doors. At times you could not open either slider doors with out trying to get to release by pulling on it which you had to open the other door and either try pull it or pushing on the door from the inside. Husband came home then forgot he had to be very gentle with door or that could not believe the door would not open then broke the left sliding door handle off. Now it has no handle at all. Called the Honda dealership and said it warranty was no longer valid. Had purchased the extended warranty and when to have it repair said door latch would be covered. Then was told since it was a design fault (well know) it would not be covered. Since then I have done some research and found Im the person with this problem. Dealership said they would cover the labor cost and not the part cost. After reviewing how many times some one has taken the time to file it here. Concern why it has not been recalled. As it stands not comfortable about the fact the side doors do not work correctly, if something happened were my children would have to exit the van quickly. Did call Honda to see what can be done to resolve the issue. Was told it may take 3 days.
The consumers vehicle experienced symptoms of the sliding door latch recall (00v-119000) but the vehicle identification number was not included in the recall.
Automatic doors fail. The door could not be closed completely. This is the second door to fail. Honda knows about the defect and told me the wouldn't fix the second door until it failed. It did so while I was 100 miles away from home.
Rear sliding door sticks and is hard to open door for consumer to enter or exit the vehicle. Dealer notified, this problem has been repaired 6 times and the seals have been replaced 3 times.
The contact owns a 2000 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the rear sliding automatic door would not remain closed and as a result, the indicator light remained illuminated. The dealer advised the contact that her vehicle had not been included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number: 00v119000 ( latches/locks/linkages:doors:latch) and offered no further assistance. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The current mileage was 162,000. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
The right side sliding door was on recall and the manufacturer replaced it. After the recall was done the consumer gets the emergency signal that the door was opening while driving at 65 mph.
My Mini-van experienced the same problem as the defect described in NHTSA campaign id number: 00v119000 . However Honda did not do recall on my vehicle.
Driver side and passenger's side doors will not open at all. Doors are stuck. Dealership is aware of problem.
Drivers side sliding door outside latch has broken due to too much effort to open door.
Intermittently rear doors were hard to open. Consumer pulled the handle off once trying to open the rear door. Consumer felt that tremendous suction was being formed by the door gasket. This suction made it difficult open the door.
2000 Honda Odyssey lx. Both sliding doors stick when either opening from the inside or outside. Not major injury - yet! I am concerned if anything did happen and we could not get the doors open in a hurry. Then what?.
While driving buzzer goes off to indicate sliding doors are open. There was recall 00v119000, but this vehicle was not affected due to VIN. Vehicle has been taken to dealer 3 times, cannot remedy the problem.
Side door will not open. Latch from either inside or outside appears to partially unlatched, but not enough to allow the door to be pulled open. Children cannot get out of the car. Also gas tank door is stuck open, when manually closing it the electric locks lock the car from the outside! it is possible to lock yourself out of the car.
The left hand side passenger sliding door sticks in the closed position, 2 door latch assemblies have broken, dealer stated parts were on backlog due to other vehicles experiencing the same problems, the right hand side door has been stubborn, but has not snapped a latch yet. Nlm.
Automatic sliding door on driver's side does not open at all when handle is used. Must open from inside or via remote. Doors make buzzing sound intermittently advising that doors are ajar even when closed contact pads have been replaced, yet problem continues. Sometimes door will not close fully. It closes, attempts to latch and then re-opens partially. Other sliding door has similar issues to a lesser extent. Lots of other diverse issues.
Sliding door would intermittently open while traveling. Vehicle been in/out of dealer shop on six occasions, and the problem still reoccurring. Vehicle back in dealer shop for seventh time for correction. Feel free to provide us with any further information concerning this matter.
Vehicle has experienced several problems with the sliding doors prior to and after recall 00v119, on one occasion the door opened about one foot while the consumer was driving.
Consumer's son had his fingers in way of door. When consumer attempted to stop the door from closing on child's finger, they were unable to do so. Child was taken to hospital with broken fingers. But, was treated and released.
When filling fuel tank consumer's daughter was able to unlock the driver's side sliding door. Door opened quickly and jammed over the fuel filler door and into the gas nossle which caused damage to the body of the car and fuel filler door.
There have been repeated problems with both power sliding doors jamming and being nonfunctional. The doors also frequently set off the alarms within the vehicle claiming that the door is open with the car in drive, yet the door does not show "open" on the indicator panel on the dashboard. There have been 8-9 attempts by the dealer to repair this problem and yet , it continues to recur. The Honda regional service manager has been involved (greg bazil) and Honda corporate has been contacted for help with engineering solutions. Nothing fixes my car.
Passenger side automatic sliding door fails to latch properly, dealer has not been able to permanently fix, driver side automatic sliding door also fails to open at times.
While putting fuel into fuel tank, driver's son inside the vehicle, pressed a buttn that opened the sliding door on the driver's side, next to fuel door. When door opened, fuel pump was knocked down, and spilled fuel all over consumer and all around.
