1 Engine problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2007

I took my 2001 Honda Odyssey Mini van to kuhn Honda in tampa, FL for routine maintenance and was told by the service dept that the passenger's side and front engine mounts were broken and needed to be replaced. The van had only 51,880 miles on it. I was told that the service department had replaced the same mounts on numerous other Odyssey van,s and even the one next to it in the shop needed them. The service manager indicated that Honda did not cover this repair under any warranty extension despite what seemed to me to be a clearly defective part that could have grave safety consequences. Honda should issue a recall and replace these engine mounts as their failure can cause hesitation during acceleration and other drive-train related problems.

2 Engine problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2004

After getting our 30000 miles maintenance completed which included (but not limited to) an oil change and replacement of the transmission fluid, we started noticing a hesitation in the car when the accelerator was depressed. When the transmission fluid was replaced, it took longer than expected thus I assumed that there may have been a problem with the transmission. We took it back to the service center to have them assess the situation and they found that two of the engine mounts were broken. The car only has 34k miles on it. It seems premature that something like this would happen, therefore, I feel it necessary to bring this to your attention to address the safety of this part (the engine mounts).
