1 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem

American Honda motor CO. , inc. (Honda) is recalling certain model year 2000 accord coupe, 2000 accord sedan, 2000 civic coupe, 2000 civic sedan, 2000-2001 cr-v, and 2000-2001 Odyssey vehicles. These vehicles may have received a replacement driver frontal air bag module as part of a vehicle repair. Due to a manufacturing issue, the replacement nadi inflator may absorb moisture, causing the inflator to rupture or the air bag cushion to underinflate. In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, an inflator rupture may result in metal fragment striking the driver or occupants.

Honda sent an "important safety recall" to me. It stated that the parts needed to repair my vehicle are not available. It said no action should be taken by me until parts are made available. I called Honda whose representative stated: 1) the notice really wasn't very important and was only issued to meet a NHTSA requirement. 2) there have only been three incidents and those involved derelict cars in scrap yards. 3) most affected vehicles would only require inspection and not a replacement part.
