The night before christmas eve, I was commuting home from the neighboring city, which is about a 25 minute drive home from where I was currently located. It was late in the evening and 2 of my children were in the car with me. I live in a rural area that is extremely dark in most of the areas. As I'm driving along both of my low beams go out without warning. This made for a very dangerous situation. I reacted as quickly as I could to prevent an accident and tried my high beams. Fortunately, they turned on but unfortunately I had to drive the rest of the way home with my high beams on possibly blinding any driver that came in contact with me. Currently the low beams still are not working. I have read forum, after forum, after forum stating how this is a problem from a 2004 to at least a 2010 Odyssey before I discontinued reading any further. I'm not exactly sure what causes but I do know it's not caused by the spark plus, the light bulbs and there is no individual relay for this vehicle low beams independently.
The power sliding door on my driver's side completely fell off. This is due to a faulty hinge with plastic rollers that was I told totally disentgrate after being used normally. This hinge is located at back part of sliding door. I had no warning in any way. There was no warning lights or any sounds of any kind that told me something was wrong. I was closing my door after loading my groceries into my vehicle when the door literally fell off hinges and onto me. Luckily, it was me and not one of my children as I could just barely bear that weight and ended up hurting my back and shoulder because of it. There is no way that they could have, it would have crushed them! my vehicle is available to view issue at request. Please check into this it definitely needs to be recalled and fixed before a child gets hurt! there are thousands of people that have dealt with this happening to them with their Honda Odyssey, why hasn't this vehicle been recalled and fixed? what is going on?.
Sunroof exploded and shattered.
When driving there is a very noticeable blurriness in the windshield. Seems like a defect in the glass. It's like wearing glasses that are way to strong for what you need and makes driving blurry. I am asking for a new windshield as this one is a defect.
Engine oil leak, when I step deep into the brake the steering wheel shakes. The vga alert appears.
Car was in park, went to go in drive/reverse and car was beeping that doors were open but all doors were closed. Put car in park, opened all door and reshot them. Put into reverse and started beeping again that doors were not shut.
My husband and I was driving on the freeway out of town for a wedding when all of a sudden we started to smell a really bad smell and the van started to make a noise and sputtering. We quickly exited the next closest exit and the van started to stall. We were not able to accelerate any more. We were already 82 miles from home and not near any businesses. We called roadside service which towed us to the nearest mechanic who told us we needed a new transmission. Our trip was over! we had to pay $350 to tow us back home. My van only has 82,000 miles! I can't believe the transmission failed! this is a safety issue because their were no prior warning before the transmission failure!!!.
I was driving fine, all of a sudden, the engine just completely shut down and there was no power. Turn on again, it worked. Drive for 2 miles, it totally shup down again. No power, nothing.
Sliding doors on both sides keep stopping and the one on the left you have to pull it open. Doors are very heavy to pull and slide back safety hazard for my children or other passengers. Several people that I run into are having the same issue. After I purchase the vehicle I had to take it in due to the left back sliding door not opening someone had to get in and push on the door in order for it to open. The first time it happened was around 2012 or 2013. Now it's happening again in n2019. Sometimes while driving the left sliding door will open by itself.
When your driving around 60 to 70 front end starts shaking, vibrating when you let off the gas peddle it stops but when you accelerate it starts again I have read many post of the same issue I have replaced all wheels and same thing is happing.
Heater coil.
The back doors in the car do not latch properly. One door opens while driving and the other only latches on one side.
While driving down the interstate approx 80 miles per hour this past June my sunroof shattered. I am fairly certain nothing hit it-just spontaineously shattered.
Water collects in the entire trunk/cargo area during and after rain. It has completely covered the entire cargo area including saturating the carpeting with over 4" of standing water in cargo area. Vehicle can either be parked and water collects or while diving locally.
The engine mounts broke and had to be replaced even if the mileage is only 61,000 miles. This is way too premature and reflects an issue with the original mounts. Honda should cover my repairs expenses and should issue a recall as I understand this is a common recurring problem for Odyssey.
Passenger side sliding door does not open. If opened does not close at the first attempt, it takes atleast 3-4 attempt to close or open. Sliding door light is on.
Electrical problem with sliding doors. Right directional in front will not work checked fuses and tried 3 bulbs. Only drivers side window opens. Major major safety issue when your doors and window will not open especially while driving with children.
Interior water leak from roof panel side curtain airbag. This is not an accident. I bought this vehicle on June 28,2016 from a dealer. It is a used car that is not warranty from the dealer. But when it is raining, water leak from roof panel side curtain airbag.
Sun roof exploded while driving down the highway going 65 mph. The sun roof was closed and all other windows were closed. The temperature was in the mid 50s with light rain, visibility good. There was no known reason for the explosion - nothing overhead, no vehicle traveling in front of us.
Transmission. This vehicle has had two transmissions in the past 3 months. For some reason they keep going up. I have had multiple repair companies tell me that the Honda Odyssey has the worst transmissions. The transmission went up on me while on vacation with my family and left us stranded 4 1/2 hours from home. I would not recommend a Honda Odyssey.
The power windows are no longer working. The driver side is the only one that will open.
One of the passenger sliding doors no longer opens. It will start to open & then close as if there is something in the way. There is nothing in the way. Inoperable at his time.
While stopped in traffic, engine began hard acceleration and front tires began screeching. This occurred 4x within 10 days. With each experience there was no warning. It was fortunate that foot was on brake pedal at that time.
Takata recall. My Honda van has been losing paint for about 2 years now and its getting worse. I have big spots on my roof, hood and sliding doors. I would like this issue fixed ASAP.
Brakes are really weak. Even dealerships are of no help. Honda should be held responsible for any untoward incidents due to these defects. Also vsa modulator is faulty and Honda dealership is charging $2k for the repairs!.
Hi my complaint with this 2006 Honda Odyssey is the front and rear motor mount broke frequently and are absolutely very expensive every user of this van have the same complaint about this van.
Honda service technician noted the front and side motor mounts to be broken while the van was in for routine oil and filter change. Cost of repair $1100. Van is used as a family commute car not on off roads, only on paved ones and no accidents at all.
Motor mounts got broken and are bad designs from Honda. The cost to repair is very expensive. And it is a safety hazard. Poor quality from Honda.
When I was on vacation with my family, the driver side passenger door would not close. It would close partly, begin beeping and reopen. We had to keep pressing the control to close the door until it finally closed. Two days before that, the liftgate struts failed. That is disturbing when I think about how my daughter was helping me get items out of the back. We could have been seriously injured. Thirdly, the paint is stripping off on parts of the body. Considering the reputation that Honda is supposed to have, it is upsetting to have this many problems with an 8 year old vehicle! now we must decide if it's worth fixing and keeping or trade it in for a Toyota. In looking at the other complaints, it is obvious that there are problems with the vehicle that needs to be addressed but are not being addressed. How seriously does someone have to be hurt before someone pays attention?.
Hood paint is pealing off in sheets.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while traveling 55 mph the rear passenger door opened. The door ajar indicator illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileages is 110,000.
The 4 motor mounts with the mileage of 54,365 have failed. There are countless complaints of this serious defect from Honda and it is not being addressed. I went in for an oil change and was told my motor mounts need to be replaced! if I did not need an oil changed, would my engine fall to the ground. This failure should not be happening on a vehicle with 54,000 miles. Why is this not a safety recall initiated by the NHTSA?.
I noticed an oil leak on the vehicle. When taken to the mechanic he found that the spool valve is leaking. The Honda dealer informed us that there are no replacement parts available. The oil is leaking on the exhaust manifold and is a very possible fire hazard. This is a family vehicle and this issue is a very serious one.
Engine vibrating violently at speeds of 35-40 mph and when rpm are between 1,500 to 2,000. The possible causes are faulty engine mounts, transmission, or engine. Honda replaced the power steering due to problems. I also replaced the run flat tires with non run flat because the run flat last only 1 year. I want to vibration to be resolved. The vibration appears to be a manufacturer defect according to online Honda owners groups.
I was backing up in my Honda when I stopped to see if I was going to hit something. I am sure I put my vehicle in park, started to exit the van on the drivers side, I was the driver, and realized that the van was moving backwards. I had my left foot on the ground before I knew I was moving. The drivers door hit me and I was on the black top hitting my face and knees, my right leg was under the van and the left front tire tore up my right leg. My drivers door closed and I yelled for help which several people came to my aid. The people was able to shut off my van and they lifted the van off my leg. I was taken to the hospital where they stitched up my leg and took several x rays, I had no broken bones. It took 3 months for my wounds to heal and my knee still has a lot of pain.
