When echo light on the ban vibrate the mechanic said it's the rear motor mount.
While driving down the road and once the engine reaches operating temperature the vehicle fails to accelerate and shift gears. I mash the gas pedal and the rpm gauge goes up but the vehicle doesn't move. I let the engine and transmission cool down and sometimes it will operate properly again until everything warms up. It doesn't matter if im sitting at a light or in actual motion going down the road, the vehicle ceases to continue moving. I have been going 60 mph and all of a sudden my car loses all movement but the car is still reving up and I can change gears but it stops me dead in my tracks. I called the transmission shop and they tell me its a very common issue but nothing has been able to be pinpointed.
My engine exploded on Saturday Dec 12 about 10 oclock when we turned the ignition to start the 2006 Honda Odyssey.
When I am slowing down or coming to a complete stop, it feels like my transmission is downshifting like a manual. This happens only when im slowing down / coming to a complete stop.
Transmission is not shifting property specifically in the r gear.
I was driving fine, all of a sudden, the engine just completely shut down and there was no power. Turn on again, it worked. Drive for 2 miles, it totally shup down again. No power, nothing.

I drove my Honda minivan for 10 years and one day I was pulling into a parking space at work and when I stepped on the brake to slow down the car, it suddenly accelerated so fast that it hit the wall and set off the air bag. The car was totaled and I had burns from the the airbag on my neck and arm.

In addition, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate and the rpms increased. The vsc and abs warning lights illuminated on the instrument cluster. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the front brakes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Ongoing issues regarding engine mounts.
My Odyssey needs a complete transmission overhaul, and will cost more than $3,000. 00. I always thought that japanese vehicles are durable, reliable, and long-lasting, with Toyota being one of the best, but Honda being the best of the best. Now, I am very disappointed with Honda. I am hoping for Honda to recall the transmission for the Odyssey. I have 4 friends that have the same problem with their own Odysseys. And my auto mechanic disclosed to me that this is a regular and consistent problem that is brought to him by his customers. Please recall the Odyssey transmission to relieve us of the financial burden, and to regain our confidence to Honda vehicles. Thank you.

Over twenty miles an hour another red light and then the same thing coasted to the side and put it in park called aaa dealership which it was purchased said the transmission is out.
I noticed an oil leak on the vehicle. When taken to the mechanic he found that the spool valve is leaking. The Honda dealer informed us that there are no replacement parts available. The oil is leaking on the exhaust manifold and is a very possible fire hazard. This is a family vehicle and this issue is a very serious one.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The contact was driving approximately 55 mph when a burning odor was present in the vehicle. The contact stated that white smoke was coming from under the rear and front of the vehicle. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic, who determined that a faulty valve in the transmission caused the defect. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 142,000.
Driving at 50 mph on a Friday night. My van suddenly gave a loud explosive sound and the cabin filled up with smoke and I could not breathe or see properly. I wondered what was going on and quickly pulled up on the side of the road. It took me some time to get out of the van since I am disabled. My husband had to literally speaking, carry me out and sat me on the side of the road. Passers by had already called 911 when they noticed what was going on. The police, ambulance and fire dept came. The fire dept determined that my van was smoking heavily and they took care of the fire in my engine when they opened the hood. The van was towed to the dealership and they informed me that my transmission was defective. The only problem was that this will then be the third transmission in a van that is less than 8 years old. I had a similar problem in July 2011 at 80,000 miles and the transmission was replaced then with promises from Honda that I was good for another 5 years. So when this problem occurred exactly 2 years to the time that the second transmission was replaced, I reported the problem to Honda and they want me to pay for a third transmission. This is despite the fact that I always serviced my van with the dealership. It has never been serviced with the local repair shop. I am still making car payments on my van and they want me to pay for a new transmission? I will appreciate an investigation on why Honda is allowed to sell lemons to consumers even though they are aware of transmission problems on the Odyssey vans. Smoke and fire due to recurring transmission problems on the same van is a safety issue. I pray that no one will be killed or injured due to recurring transmission problems with Honda Odyssey vans. Thanks in advance for your assistance in protecting and ensuring consumer safety as we drive our cars.
I am writing you in reference to my Honda Odyssey that was purchased in October 2006. In August of this year (2013) the transmission stopped working. I had to have the van towed to an auto shop in vermont to get fixed. The shop had to do a transmission rebuild. The transmission rebuilt cost me three thousand and four hundred and sixty-three dollars ($3463. 00). I spoke with the owner of the auto shop and he advised me that Honda Odyssey's are known to have transmission problems. I also verified this information on-line.
Have had intermittent vibration coming from engine compartment. Primarily occurs at any speed when the vcm or eco mode activates. Not sure what other issues this may cause but seems unsafe. Honda dealer diagnosed issue as a broken rear engine mount. Cost to repair is $866.
Transmission hunts between 4th and 5th gear during acceleration causing surges in the rpm and the car.
Front and side motor mount failure.
Vibration and noise from engine or tansmission whenever car goes into eco mode. Does it at all speeds. Dealer confirmed that the car needs new engine mounts. Seems like ex-l and tourings have the same issue!!!! faulty mounts, bad design! dealer qoted $2000 to fix. Dont have money to cover the cost as I just had a baby.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The contact was driving 65 mph when the vehicle rapidly decelerated to 20 mph. The contact depressed the accelerator but the vehicle would not accelerate beyond 65 mph. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the transmission would have to be replaced. The dealer did not give a reason for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and the failure mileage was 106,000.
I was driving on my way back from cleveland ohio. Noticed a shaking feeling on a transmission shifting gear. I looked it up on the internet and there is a ton of people with the same complaint :(.
My 5 year old Honda Odyssey with only 68475 miles has o faulty front engine mount. And I believe this is a predominant problem with 05-2009 year Odysseys. It can be a safety issue and would be nice if Honda issued a recall.
The van seems to stutter at low speeds usually 30-35mph. Lately the it has issue has worse and is experiencing problems at highway speeds.
The Honda odessey van we have started to shift hard and when it would change into gears I would feel a big thump it is a automatic with over drive.
Whil driving at 40 mph. The steering wheel shakes hard for about 4 sec.
Travelling on vaction on freeway at 100km ( 60 mph ) when my transmission went on my Honda Odyssey. Smoke from under hood, engine started to rev up and tacometer reved up bascially enough function to pull over to the side of freeway. We had towed to Honda where I was informed that my vehicle that I havent even owned for 5yrs at the time and only 120000km (75000miles) that the transmission was gone and would cost me $5000 to repair. We had our van towed back to our local dealer (2hrs away and across us boarder back to canada) where they charged us $3700 do to us keeping up with all services. After all cost to have returned home and our family of six returned home I paid $4500 out of my pocket on a vehicle im still making $600 a month payments on. Unaccceptable.
Ever since about 90,000 the transmission shutters and makes a rumbling sound between 30-45 mph. A transmission oil "exchange" seemed to lessen the issue. But it has returned.
Soon after purchasing our 2006 Honda Odyssey ex I noticed a shudder when I was going slowly in traffic. It had trouble shifting up. Usually when this happens I'm only going between 30-45. It seems fine when I quickly accelerate. Now it happens almost every time I drive it. I know it's a transmission issue, because it sounds like all the other complaints here. I have taken it to the dealer we bought it from and of course they couldn't find the shudder. It was probably because they only drove it for 2 miles. I'm very frustrated with Honda and won't ever purchase one again.
Based on a report today that Honda is recalling 2003/2004 Honda Odyssey where the issue involves the ignition interlock, a device intended to ensure that the key can only be removed when a vehicle is firmly shifted into park. I have a 2006 Honda Odyssey and had a similar issue in 2010 where after parking and removing my keys and I got down, the van moved backwards and the my front door hit another car in the parking lot damaging both cars, and I had to file a claim with unitrin direct. The result being I have a fault accident record on my license and my insurance went up for no fault of mine. I think Honda should recall even the 2006 model and pay me back from my repairs and extra insurance payments that I have paid and work with dmv/unitrin to remove the fault accident record that I have on my license.
When driving in cold weather for a long distance, wheezing sound comes from steering wheel. Others have had this problem, they say it's a power steering pump, reservoir tank. It only has 57k miles, and already problems. Honda dealer said they couldn't duplicate the problem, that's because they didn't drive it for a while nor was it cold. It won't be covered under warranty since it's past the miles, but Honda makes a defective part(s) and the owner has to pay for their poor engineering.
