My doors wasn't latching or shutting all the way. The power doors and windows wouldn't work sometimes. Then the back sliding door fell off. Engaged the automatic door and damaged the side of the van. I seen there were recalls but none for my VIN I don't know what to do.
The seal plastic around small window on the sliding door both sides it's ripping apart, I really worry about it because I had two kids 9 and 11 years old, the actual plastic dial it's melting and I worry about kids can put that out in their mouth and be dangers for if they eat by accident.
The lift gate struts quit working and the lift gate kept falling on my head every time I opened it. I know that the struts are a recall item for the 2008 Honda Odyssey, but my particular VIN was not included in the recall. Perhaps it should be.
Have gone to courtney Honda, milford CT they can not find anything wrong with car. I had it towed after malfunctioning on highway then stalling. While driving on highway slow lane car started breaking by itself all lights on dashboard started going on from battery alternator brakes tire pressure every light on. Car brakes on it's own and started jolting pulled to side breakdown lane and car just completely shut off. I had to get it towed to Honda dealership after contacting them. Honda kept my car for 2 days then told me to come and pick it up because they could not find anything wrong with it after putting thru diagnostics. Nothing wrong than why is it stopping in middle of highway. Major safety issue. Major malfuntioning major electrical problem. Something needs to be done before someone gets seriosly hurt!!!!!!.
Break paddle some time not working it goes to the floor when use brake I have read that a lot of 2008 Honda Odyssey have a brake pedal that goes to the floor and my brake pedal does the same. I had to drive very slow so the car will stop, pedal goes to floor before slowly stopping.
I have spent over $4000 in repair costs and my car just shut down completely and will not start. I have had to have my car towed three times once to Honda dealership and twice to a repair shop. All this msoney spent and car still doesn't work right, now it just stopped working completely. All lights on dashboard start flickering then car starts stopping itself while all lights go crazy. Car starts stalling itself while I'm driving making it extremly unpridictable and unsafe. Car has gotten so hot that it melted a new battery that needed to be replaced along with alternator. Still after all this still not working right all the electricals go crazy brakes, locks and everything else now car has completely stopped. Yet no one can find out what's wrong. It has happened on road and on highway very unpridictable. Curtis Honda in milford had my car for 4 days couldn't find anything yet it stalled and stopped on me only a day after picking it up from milford dealership. They could not find or would not find why. All lights go crazy and stop shut off my vehichle. After all this vehicle started I drove it around town all of a sudden all lights started going crazy and started stopping on it's own until it completly died.
Lift gate opened one day and the next day it had no power. Also the rear windshield wiper will operate even when turned off. Vehicle was parked in driveway when lift gate was discovered. I was driving down the city streets when I noticed the rear wiper.
Tpms everytime in my panel.
Merging onto highway going about 50 mph, I hear a loud sound that was like a gunshot. My sunroof exploded and the pieces fell on me, my son, and flew off the car onto the road while I slowed down.
Vibracin fuerte despues que pasa las 40 millas y si suelto el pedal DE la gasolina o acelero para pasar las 50 millas deja la vibracion.
15may2018. In a slow traffic, I felt a slight vibration on the engine and the engine stopped. While turning on again, the engine starts up, but dies again. A red warning flashes showing battery and oil symbols. The same repeated . Vehicle towed to a mechanic. When the mechanic started, engine runs fine. Mechanic's diagnostics did not find anything wrong. I drove back home 60 miles away. No issues. Fearing for my life, if this happens again on highway.
Faulty ignition switch. Locks vehicle up and cannot remove key. Cannot start vehicle. This occurs when stopping and placing the vehicle in park.
Vehicle purchased in April of 2013. Rear tailgate gas struts had to be replaced in may 2014 due to complete failure. Same oem was reinstalled by dealer and has failed again less than 18 months later.
The navigation system has been experiencing a failure to read the dvd which also is causing the backup camera system to fail while driving. The only fix to the problem is to restart the vehicle. The dvd for the navigation system in version 4. 92 and was placed in the vehicle less than 5 years ago due to problems with the navigation system at that time while under warranty. I contacted Honda today and was informed by one representative that they were aware that dvds are wearing unusually fast, but there was nothing they could do except advise contacting the seller of the dvd to buy a new one for $149. I had spoken to someone yesterday who advised me to contact the dealer who had to replace components of the navigation in 2011 while under warranty. I did that and the dealer is unable to do anything more. I contacted the seller of the dvd and they were unable to provide a replacement for the failed dvd. I contacted Honda a second time today under the recall department and they advised me that there were no reports of these problems available to them and that this is not a covered item by recall or warranty. The case # is 04926816. Since they advised me they were unaware of this problem the second time with the recall contact I advised them I would make the NHTSA aware. Essentially the navigation system and backup camera system all shutdown due to unusual wear on the dvd under the drivers seat in the dvd reader and when a glitch in reading the dvd is encountered the entire system shuts down including backup cameras. I especially find this unusual as this dvd would virtually never be removed so all of the wear and tear is from inside the dvd reader leading to this failure. This failure can happen on startup, or while driving. This last occurred 2 days ago, but has occurred now over a 6 month-1yr period of time intermittently.
Vehicle was stationary, in drive with brake applied, on a city street at a red light, dry conditions. Sudden, unexpected acceleration/reving/engine surge occurred--with such force that I initially thought I'd been rear-ended. I applied pressure to brakes and put car in park. For a moment, it seemed as if the brakes failed--not sure. Surge continued for a number of seconds, then subsided. Had car towed. Mechanic could not find a problem, no evidence of event in computer history. I know I did not hit brakes and gas simultaneously, and besides, Honda says there's a built in safety device that limits surge to 30%--this was more marked. No rug pad under gas pedal either. Experienced driver with impeccable record.
Liftgate struts leaked gas and now liftgate of Honda Odyssey is hard to open and will not stay up.
Rear liftgate pistons / lift support pistons failing. Hatch closes by its self, hitting / trapping / catching person in trunk area. Hatch very heavy! keep children away!.
Rear door's struts does not work. The hatchback rear door slams shut and does not hold. There was a recall regarding strut defect in 2012. The recalled Odysseys were manufactured in alabama factory where our car was manufactured. Just wonder why our vehicle is not on the recall list. Thank you for your time. Structure:body:hatchback/liftgate:hinge and attachments recall for 2008 Honda Odyssey recall announced February 16 2012 NHTSA reference #12v062000 number affected 45,747 summary: Honda is recalling certain model year 2008-2009 Odyssey vehicles, the gas-filled struts that help to raise and support the liftgate of vehicles equipped with a power liftgate system may be prone to early life failures due to a manufacturing flaw. The flaw can result in a leak of the pressurized gas, leading to reduced strut performance. Consequence: struts with diminished performance can lead to unexpected closure, increasing the risk of personal injury.
We own a 2008 Honda Odyssey ex that should have been included in the recall for this safety issue, as it has been discovered that the power lift gate can fail as the struts are leaking pressurized gas. The reason the recall come to our attention in the first place is because the power lift gate on our vehicle has failed and has injured an employee. Upon our own research, we entered our VIN number into your database to check for any recall notifications, and the website stated our VIN number was invalid. However, when searching on your website for recalls for the 2008 Honda Odyssey, it is clear that a recall has been issued on 2/16/2012 with a NHTSA recall number of 12v-062. We then contacted the where we had purchased our vehicle. They denied any recall for the power lift gate issue and failed to help us resolve this major safety issue.
Rollers on sliding door will not close the door. One roller poped out of door and looked damaged. It makes a grinding noise when trying to move.
The engine light came on while driving the vehicle. Took the vehicle to a mechanic who said the vehicle had an error code of p3400 and to immediately fill it with oil and take it to Honda dealer. Did that and discovered class action lawsuit covered repair. Jeff wyler Honda claims to have fixed the problem. Vehicle's engine light goes on again 6 months later with same error code p3400. Told by jeff wyler Honda on colerain avenue that vehicle is fine despite having lost 2 quarts of oil in less than 1000 miles. Dealer tells us that it is "perfectly normal" for Honda vehicles to use 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles, and that this is true of their entire fleet including 2014 and 2015 vehicles. Honda USA and Honda dealer are unwilling to look at vehicle any further and tell us that we will just have to put oil in it each time we fill the vehicle with gas, and that this is not an unusual occurrence. So now, we have a minivan meant to transport our family about town that we will have to fill with oil each and every time we go to use it. Dealer admits that there are no leaks, and that the van has been kept in fine running condition by us.
On approximately 7/1, I was driving home. The car wouldn't switch gears and lost a bit of power. I was able to drive down an interstate during rush hour at approx. 40 miles per hour. I had the van towed to a friends house. The next day, I drove it to Hondaman, a certified Honda repair shop, they did a valve adjustment. The valve adjustment didn't work. There was a clicking, vibrating, knocking noise at 2800rpms while the car was in park (metal on metal noise) and then when driving. Replaced the timing belt and tensioner as recommended, this did not solve the problem. Did another valve adjustment (according to the TSB) and that did not work. Recommendations was that the engine be replaced or rebuilt. At no point ever did the car have a check engine light, low oil light, or any other signs of problems. I took the car to brown's Honda, they recommended a cylinder head replacement, valve replacement and camshaft replacement. The items had shown metal on metal wear. The shops and based on research, this a sign of no lubrication. They shop told me that this happens and it is a fluke. I also notified them that there are numerous tsbs on my car and if I move forward with the front cam replacement, I am worried that since the issue could not be identified, that the rear cam and pistons' or camshaft would need to be replaced. I did have my oil pan and oil plug replaced 2 years ago and after researching more about my car, found that this was a defect in the model I purchased. I also called the misfire settlement and was notified that since no diagnostic codes showed up, there was nothing they can do to extend my warranty. Since the notifications only occur due to emission issues, the car engine would have blown up while I was driving with no warning. I had all maintenance with Honda and truly scared that this will effect other buyers.
Rear gate supports completely failed. I was vacuuming the back interior of the van at the time. Rear gate collapsed on my back, injuring my back. No medical attention was required.
The tailgate struts broke while the tailgate was open, striking me in my back. I noticed there was a recall for the 2008 Honda Odyssey, but mine is not included and I was given no valid reason as to why, only that it was specific VIN's and mine was not in the bunch that was recalled.
I tried to open the rear hatch door to put something in. The door was extremely heavy and would not stay up and open. I was able to get out of the way before it crashed down on me. I was not hurt, but I could have been. Now I am unable to access back portion of vehicle. I don't have a place to put groceries or when we travel, I have no place to put luggage. The hydraulic failed. Why was there not a recall on my model, when there has been a recall on other models of same year?.
Tailgate/ strut failure I was out shopping and at my last stop the tailgate was suddenly very hard to open. I had a large cart of groceries and it was raining, so I raised it up with one hand, but when I turned to get more groceries, I expected it to stay and it dropped down. Fortunately, I did not have my children with me, so I could put the rest of the groceries in the seat area and deal with it later. It has not resolved, so it was not a "rain" issue. In the week that has passed, I have done some of research. . Read more...
The liftgate/tailgate on the Honda Odyssey 2008 exl does not stay up. It falls down due to the weight of the liftgate and has the potential to injure the person using it. This is a non powered liftgate. Honda did have a recall on the powered liftgates for the 2008 exl, but not for the non powered ones.
The rear door no longer stays open. It falls right away and has fell on my head as well as my wife's head. It appears that there is already a recall but seems like it only applies to the vans that have the power door in the rear.
This is the 3rd time this has happened. I am listing details pertaining to today because I cannot recall the prior dates (however they were within the past year). Basically the van spontaneously started itself. My children were playing outside and they ran inside saying "mom the van is on". I went to look and the van is running but in the "off" position. There is no key in the ignition. Applying the brake turned it off. I do not have a remote starter and my only set of keys were inside the house. Let me stress again that it started by itself and was running with no key in the ignition. I am concerned now that this could occur while the garage is closed and fill our home with carbon monoxide!.
The liftgate stoped working.
The gas-filled struts on the rear lift gate of my Honda Odyssey minivan have completely failed. The rear lift gate to the minivan now falls shut with a very dangerous speed and force. The lift gate is very heavy and I am certain it would severely injure my 4 year old boys if it was dropped or accidentally let go. Honda has recalled other 2008 and 2009 gas-filled struts for ex-l and touring models but claims that my gas-filled struts on my ex model are not as common of a failure. I'm not buying it. It's a serious safety hazard.
Lift struts on back hatch quit working suddenly with no prior problems.
Power-tailgate struts have failed and trunk will not remain open. When my wife lifted the trunk it nearly fell on her and hit her head. This same exact issue has been identified in the 2008 Honda Odyssey touring models and a recall was issued. I believe the recall should extend to non-touring model as well (I have a lx 5 speed automatic trim level). I called Honda and they said that my VIN was not included in the recall, but I believe that it should be. In order to repair it, I will have to pay out of pocket.
Yesterday (3/4/2013), I lifted open the trunk, on my Honda Odyssey 2008 (ex-l). I noticed that it was a little heavy to lift. When I lifted it all the way up and let it go, it immediately came down on my head. Luckily, I was able to catch it before it hit my head. The trunk door would not stay in the open position, and comes down to a hard close if not held open by hand. So far, I have not received any communication from Honda on the below mentioned recall, that is same as the issue I am facing report receipt date: Feb 16, 2012 NHTSA campaign number: 12v062000 component(s): structure potential number of units affected: 45,747 recall notification :Honda. 2008- early 2009 model year Honda Odyssey ex-land touring models power liftgate gas struts.
The power sliding doors will sometimes not close. . . One will start to close when we push the lever, then shudder or jerk and then reverse itself so that it is fully open once again. This started first with the passenger side sliding door, and has recently started happening on the driver's side as well. We. Brought it to a dealer and seemed quite familiar with the symptoms, suggesting that the middle set of rollers on the door were causing the issue. This seems to be a defect in either the material or the design.
