37 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2011

Early 2011 after having some recall repairs done in the past like the brakes, leaking from the moon roof and the power steering problems, started noticing the engine light coming out for 1-2 days and then the oil light, checked oil level and refill was done but didn't notice any leaking. Subsequent services to the dealer told them about the events but didn't provided any clear report as to what is causing that. Lift gate shocks gave up after a few months and have them replaced from the dealer, again no clear explanations why the it's too soon for unexpected possible wear and tear, also in addition to telling them about the power steering seems to be causing a problem again because it's becoming heavy to turn the vehicle. This has been causing a huge problem and safety concern especially coming off from a parallel parking because it takes a lot of manuevering before I can get off from the spot and involves a great effort especially in an incline position. Recently about a couple of weeks ago, the same issue came in about the engine and the oil light showing up, oil level was low again but doesn't noticed any leaking. I did some search and I have seen a video on youtube about the error code p3400 and p3497 which is very scary and very significant to the life span of the engine. Also, recalling all these issues, I also noticed that there was a recall about the previously replaced lift gate shocks that I paid for last year. I just hope that the dealer will be responsible enough to acknowledge the vehicle flaws and prioritize the safety of the public consumer especially the Mini van as it normally has children as it's daily passenger - being the family van.

38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2010

I purchased four after market built in video/dvd monitor head rests that broke apart upon impact when the middle row seat was flipped forward into the front seat of my 2008 Honda Odyssey. The metal support pole was only attached to plastic. This is clearly a defect substandard design which causes concern for me of what would occur during an accident if by just the seat flipping forward into the other could break the housing . The head rest is made by tview mobile entertainment solutions (universal electronics inc) 5721 savoy st. Houston TX 77036. 800. 559. 6580 or 832. 251. 2000 email info@tview. Us. The model is t920pl-gr 9. 2 tft. I purchased the video head rests from national auto sound located at 11001 e us hwy 40, independence, mo 64055 phone 816. 356. . Read more...

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2009

Hello I would like to bring a very serious matter to your attention. On sept 26th, 2009 between 12:30 1:00pm, I was driving from binghamton, NY to hicksville, NY with my family I. E. My wife and 3 children aged from 18months, 3 years and 5 years old when the floor mat of my Honda Odyssey 2008 got stuck under the race pedal. This matter created a serious situation and sped my car over 80 mph. I had to keep on trying and pushing the floor mat down, fortunately I was able to push the floor mat away from the race pedal. This could have caused a serious crash or injuries; therefore I would like to bring this matter to your attention. I would truly appreciate if I could please get an acknowledgement from you of this report for my records. I hope you will bring this matter up with Honda so that they are aware that this is an issue with Honda Odyssey.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

Unintended acceleration has occurred six (6) times since the car was purchased new. The first three incidences took place over a four (4) year period starting about 2009 with about 25000 miles on the odometer. In each of these instances the car was entering a parking space moving forward. The brake pedal was applied and the car was almost stopped when the engine begin to race. Pressure was maintained on the brake and the engine speed returned to normal. The car was returned to the dealer for inspection after the first two (2) of these incidences but could not find the problem. In the last two years there have been three additional occurrences. In one instance the brake was applied and the car was at a complete stop at a traffic circle. Although the driver’s foot remained firmly on the brake, the engine began to rev up. The transmission had to be placed in neutral to prevent the car moving forward into traffic. On two other occasions the brake was applied to slow the car down in traffic when the engine’s rpm increase rapidly. To prevent a possible collision the transmission again had to be placed in neutral. Although the problem does not occur frequently when it does occur, there is a safety issue.
