Vehicle Speed Control problem #1

I am submitting this urgent complaint regarding my 2015 Honda Odyssey, equipped with the 3. 5l v6 engine referenced in (TSB) 20-023 which acknowledges that the front rocker arm oil control valve (spool valve) gasket may fail and leak engine oil directly onto the alternator located beneath it. This condition can cause alternator contamination, charging system failure, electrical malfunction, and potential fire risk due to oil exposure to electrical components. Despite knowledge of this issue, Honda did not notify vehicle owners and did not initiate a recall. Before the first breakdown occurred, I experienced a frightening and dangerous incident while in traffic. Without any human interference and without my pressing the accelerator, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and moved forward on its own, nearly striking the vehicle in front of me. I had to react immediately to prevent a collision. This unexpected surge was extremely disturbing and appeared to involve an electrical malfunction. Shortly thereafter, the vehicle broke down. After the first breakdown, I replaced the battery. Within approximately one hour of driving again, the vehicle failed again due to alternator failure. I was stranded at night, in darkness, alone, and exposed to active traffic. This created an immediate and foreseeable risk of collision, serious bodily injury, or death. Another car in that area around that time broke down on the highway I was expected to use and was hit by a semi on 95 and the driver of the stopped car was killed. That could have easily been me. A defect that can cause sudden electrical malfunction, unintended vehicle movement, loss of charging capability, vehicle disablement in traffic, and potential fire hazard constitutes a safety-related defect under federal motor vehicle safety standards. I respectfully request that you initiate a formal investigation evaluate whether a recall is warranted. Require reimbursement for repair costs thank you very much.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #2

The contact owns a 2015 Honda Odyssey. While parking the vehicle with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning. A local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #3

The contact owns a 2015 Honda Odyssey. While the vehicle was idling with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle accelerated independently to 5 mph. The contact rear ended the preceding vehicle without warning. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 21,000. The VIN was not available.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #4

The contact owns a 2015 Honda Odyssey. While depressing the brake pedal and reversing, an abnormal noise was heard and the vehicle accelerated independently. The contact mentioned that the vehicle increased to the maximum rpms. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not provided. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

Vehicle Speed Control problem #5

On August 9, 2015, we were driving home from vacation from cedar point, ohio to pittsburgh, PA. This is about a 200 mile trip. The vehicle ran smoothly the entire trip until I left the turnpike of driving 60-70 miles per hour and then began driving on a road with a 40 mph speed limit. All of a sudden I was at a red light waiting in traffic. As soon as the light turned green, I pressed the accelerator. We began accelerating to 25 miles per hour but knew something was wrong. My car would not leave first gear. The gauge on the dashboard went from 1-7 gear but nothing happened. I was in the passing lane traveling 15-20 miles per hour in a 40mph zone. I then proceeded to change lanes when all of a sudden the entire car jumped as if it had a mind of its own and began to accelerate. The car began driving faster but not any faster than 40 mph. Again, all we could hear was rooooooom and the dashboard indicator looked like windshield wipers going from left to right. The car would not leave 2nd gear. This continued to happen over and over again at each red light. Since this was a Sunday, the service center was closed. It wasn't until Wednesday that the dealership was able to take a look at my vehicle. Since no sensors indicated a problem, they stated there was not a problem and there was nothing they could do. I am not fabricating this incident one bit and am afraid of this happening again but having a different outcome. If I experienced this problem and the dealership dismissed me because a sensor did not indicate a problem, what does it take for a sensor to trigger? this is a leased vehicle of 1 month and I am very concerned of it happening again or worse. I am a single mother of 3 and should not have to worry about the safety of my children and myself in a 1 month old vehicle with less than 2,000 miles.
