Adaptive Cruise Control problems of the 2018 Honda Odyssey - part 1

Multiple warning lights on. Dealership told me it was code u3000-49 multipurpose camera mutimimillmeter wave radar internal electronic failure.

The monocular camera (multipurpose camera secured under the rear view mirror) has failed. This disables the following" collision mitigation braking system (cmbs): detects obstacles or vehicles ahead and helps brake automatically if a collision seems likely. Forward collision warning (fcw): works with cmbs to send visual and audible alerts if you get too close to a vehicle in front of you. Lane keeping assist system (lkas): adjusts steering torque to help keep your van centered in a detected lane. Lane departure warning (ldw): alerts you if you drift across detected lane lines without using your turn signal. Road departure mitigation (rdm): applies steering help or braking if you drift off the paved road entirely. Adaptive cruise control (acc): maintains a safe, set following distance behind a vehicle traveling ahead of you. These systems are helpful in keeping you safe while driving. The problem with camera failing cause these system warnings to populate on the dash. This is distracting. This has been confirmed with independent service center. Has not been inspected by manufacture. Started August 21. Quoted $2200 to replace and recalibrate.

While driving the car lurches as it shifts gears. This had gone on for quite some time but no codes have been thrown. This last time the car lurched so badly at the beginning of acceleration that I thought it was going to stall. It did not, but lights began flashing on the dash and when codes were (finally) thrown I was told I needed a new transmission altogether.

Front camera failure shut off multiple safety features. Confirmed by the dealership service department. Safety features shut off adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, collision mitigation system, road departure mitigation system and blind spot info system. Driving this car under 43000 miles with multiple safety features off with messages flashing is stressful, distracting, uncomfortable and unsafe especially this car is mainly used for children. The worse part is that the dealership service department can not fix the problems because the part is back ordered. We have to continue to use this car in this unsafe condition.

My Odyssey randomly began displaying all of the adas warning messages: the brake system indicator light comes on, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, auto high beam system error, etc. These came on beginning 7/25/26 and have come on everyday since causing the entire adas system to be inoperable. There have been a few days that they didn't come on immediately. I have had a few days where they came on half-way through my drive. This is a safety issue due to a defect in either the front camera or wiring to it, a nuisance, and something Honda needs to correct. It seems to be way too common of an issue according to my research. There hasn't been any damage to the van and no reason for these to come on. I have done research and see this has happened to many people. The replacement camera is costly as well as the calibration. Therefore, I haven't taken it to the dealership but I have discussed the issue with them. They agree that the camera is getting too hot and failing, which is causing the errors and of course all of those safety features fail simultaneously.

Adas front facing camera died at 104,716 miles. No prior warning. All adas systems are down. Five emergency warnings on starting up the car. Normal driving is ok, but safety systems are no longer working. Reported repair cost from Honda dealership is $2000+.

There are multiple systems that have failed in the vehicle: — lane keeping assist problem — collision mitigation system problem — auto high beam problem — adaptive cruise control system — road departure mitigation system problem here’s the issue, I’ve seen multiple people with this issue saying it’s related to the camera system. I’ve reported it multiple times and to the dealer and have not received a straight answer. This needs to be investigated. How many complaints do you need to receive about safety issues in a make/model to do something about it/.

The multipurpose camera has failed. I went online saw tons of people with same issues happening right after the warranty period. Even with extended warranty they dont want to help .

My 2018 Honda Odyssey ex-l has an ongoing Honda sensing failure. Adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and forward collision warning cannot be activated using their controls. No dashboard warning lights or error messages are displayed. Honda of lake jackson stated that it could not perform further diagnostics. These driver-assistance and safety features remain unavailable during normal vehicle operation. I am reporting the problem because multiple Honda sensing functions cannot be turned on or used.

Safety features disabled after battery change. Warning lights not cleared after driving the car as they should. Front mounted safety camera does not function properly and this is critical for safety. Lights are going off like crazy, ran the code and says it needs a recalibration. Nothing happened to have warrant this.

Component affected: forward-facing multipurpose camera / advanced driver assistance systems (adas)description of safety hazard: while operating my 2018 Honda Odyssey on a public road, the forward-facing multipurpose camera suffered a sudden, unprovoked internal hardware failure. This failure instantly triggered a cascade of severe dashboard warning lights and error messages. The camera failure completely disabled multiple critical active safety systems simultaneously, including: collision mitigation braking system (cmbs)lane keeping assist system (lkas)road departure mitigation system (rdm)adaptive cruise control (acc)auto high-beamssafety consequence: the sudden loss of these active safety technologies dramatically increases the risk of a high-speed collision, as the vehicle can no longer autonomously detect obstacles, mitigate frontal impacts, or assist with lane keeping. Crucially, the total failure of adaptive cruise control left the vehicle with no standard cruise control functionality whatsoever during highway driving, creating an unexpected distraction and safety hazard. The dealership confirmed a failed front camera module and quoted $2100 to replace and recalibrate the unit. This is a systemic hardware defect affecting 2018 Honda Odysseys that requires a formal safety recall.

My 2018 Honda Odyssey with just under 59,000 miles is showing the following warnings: - acc - adaptive cruise control problem - collision mitigation system problem - auto high-beam problem - road departure mitigation system problem - lane keep assist problem. Using a code scanner, the ecu reports error u3000-49, which seems related to the multi-purpose camera unit used for all these functions. Given that this camera is used in the various safety features listed above, the current condition presents an unsafe condition for my vehicle, which has less than 59,000 miles of being driven.

The vehicle started to have failing sensors all of a sudden. I tried a new battery but the codes returned. All adas systems tied to the camera module all went out. I had 5-7 warning lights for all driving functions. Additionally the seat belt buckle is not always clicking in properly. The belt about half the time is not retained in the buckle section.

There’s more thant went wrong but won’t let me add them. My front camera seems to be the issue but many are having the same exact issue. I just bought it not too long ago. Worked fine until this recall came out.

On April 20, 2026, at approximately 12:00 pm. I was driving my 2018 Honda Odyssey (VIN [xxx] ) southbound on [xxx] , approximately 3 miles north of the junction of [xxx] and [xxx] . I was traveling at approximately 30 mph. The vehicle struck a pothole in the road. Immediately upon impact, the passenger-side curtain airbag deployed with a loud report that I described as sounding like a gunshot next to my right ear. There was no collision with another vehicle or object, and no warning of any kind preceded the deployment. I was startled by the sudden deployment and noise, and the vehicle briefly swerved before I regained control. The deployed passenger-side curtain airbag completely obstructed my visibility through the passenger-side and right-rear windows. The road at that location runs along a narrow embankment with no shoulder, so I was unable to safely pull over. I had to continue driving approximately 3 to 4 miles with severely compromised visibility until I reached a safe location to park near the 9w and 340 junction. I was the sole occupant at the time of the incident. The curtain airbag deployed directly adjacent to my child’s car seat, which was installed in the rear passenger-side seat. My child was not in the vehicle at the time. Given the force and location of the deployment, a child seated in that position could have been seriously injured. Following the deployment, I experienced ringing in my right ear and ear pain that persisted for several hours. I was also significantly shaken by the incident. Component that failed: supplemental restraint system (srs) electronic control unit (ecu), which caused inadvertent deployment of the passenger-side curtain airbag. The vehicle and deployed airbag are available for inspection. Safety risk: the inadvertent deployment created multiple safety hazards. First, the deployment itself startled me and caused the vehicle to swerve at 30 mph on information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

When I turned on the ignition to drive the vehicle, multiple warning lights came on to include failure of lane keeping assistance, forward collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. Additionally, after acknowledging these lights, the "brake system" light remained on in the amber color. If these safety features are not working properly, it can put the occupants of my vehicle as well as others at risk.

Paid $210 for Honda to run a diagnostic to tell me my multi purpose camera has a failure. This has caused 11 error lights to be displayed.

While driving on highway, multiple warnings displayed at the same time as adaptive cruise control stopped, lane keep assistance stopped and collision mitigation system stopped abruptly without warning. Independent service check confirmed the problem. No inspection performed. Vehicle has never been in a collision during ownership.

Adas camera malfunction causing all driver assist functions to not work.

The front camera has failed so all of my forward driving safety features no longer work such as lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control and collision mitigation. Every time I turn on the engine I have multiple warning lights that appear every time that have to manually acknowledge to clear them from my dashboard.

Intermittent electrical failure with the front monocular camera confirmed via dtc codes. Upon inspection, camera is hot to the touch and all adas systems on the vehicle cut on/off with warning lights while driving. Was going down interstate utilizing acc, system cut off throwing warning codes, then disappeared, then came back on. System continues to have intermittent issues indicating a failing camera. Even after 1-2 minutes of idle - camera is extremely hot when touching module underneath decorative garnish.

The camera module failed in our van and gave us a u3000-49 code which caused the vehicle to lose adaptive cruise control (acc), lane keeping assist system (lkas), collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), and road departure mitigation (rdm) functions on the vehicle with a cost to fix from Honda of $ 2,475. 56.

The multipurpose camera that works to provide all the safety features failed in less than 8 years. These should be lasting for the life of the vehicle. There should be a recall for this.

Front molecular sensor/camera.

Every time I park the car outside in the sun these components fail and it starts working once the car is left to cool in shade … this happens even in milder temperature mid 60 to 70 deg f.

We turned the car on and got an acc, lkas, fcs, ahl errors due to the front sensor and the camera failing. This is an issue that many Honda owners are dealing with. The issue will not allow you to use cruise control and will disable 90% of the safety features we bought this vehicle for. The car drives fine but the safety of those in the car is affected by this error and needs to be recalled due to the number of complaints of this issue. There were no errors or warning signs prior to this happening.

Front camera is known to go out on these vans causing acc, lkas, collision mitigation, road departure mitigation system, auto high beam, transmission problems and more.

The camera for these sensors has gone out and it appears to be an extremely common issue. It makes all safety features un-usable.

Forward collision warning.

The front facing camera has stopped working. Anytime we turn the vehicle on we get multiple warning lights (lane assist, cruise control, bright lights, braking, etc) aren't working.

Multiple warnings on dashboard due to windshield camera malfunction. Many vehicles of the same model have this problem. This is a part defect and should be recalled. Thank you.

The multipurpose camera failed showing lot of error codes. This affects the braking system putting my family and kids in risk. Honda is asking 2000$ to fix the camera.

One light on dashboard lit up, started as "blind spot info system problem", light would go on and off for couple of years. Now every light on dashboard lights up, including lane assist, blind spot infor system problem, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control problem, rear cross traffic warning, lane departure warning.
