Adaptive Cruise Control problems of the 2018 Honda Odyssey - part 1

Intermittent electrical failure with the front monocular camera confirmed via dtc codes. Upon inspection, camera is hot to the touch and all adas systems on the vehicle cut on/off with warning lights while driving. Was going down interstate utilizing acc, system cut off throwing warning codes, then disappeared, then came back on. System continues to have intermittent issues indicating a failing camera. Even after 1-2 minutes of idle - camera is extremely hot when touching module underneath decorative garnish.

The camera module failed in our van and gave us a u3000-49 code which caused the vehicle to lose adaptive cruise control (acc), lane keeping assist system (lkas), collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), and road departure mitigation (rdm) functions on the vehicle with a cost to fix from Honda of $ 2,475. 56.

The multipurpose camera that works to provide all the safety features failed in less than 8 years. These should be lasting for the life of the vehicle. There should be a recall for this.

We turned the car on and got an acc, lkas, fcs, ahl errors due to the front sensor and the camera failing. This is an issue that many Honda owners are dealing with. The issue will not allow you to use cruise control and will disable 90% of the safety features we bought this vehicle for. The car drives fine but the safety of those in the car is affected by this error and needs to be recalled due to the number of complaints of this issue. There were no errors or warning signs prior to this happening.

Front camera is known to go out on these vans causing acc, lkas, collision mitigation, road departure mitigation system, auto high beam, transmission problems and more.

The front facing camera has stopped working. Anytime we turn the vehicle on we get multiple warning lights (lane assist, cruise control, bright lights, braking, etc) aren't working.

One light on dashboard lit up, started as "blind spot info system problem", light would go on and off for couple of years. Now every light on dashboard lights up, including lane assist, blind spot infor system problem, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control problem, rear cross traffic warning, lane departure warning.

Several of my warning lights came on related to safety features such as brake assist, lane assist, collision mitigation. Brake warning. The source has been identified as a failure with the multipurpose camera unit.

T approximately 105 000 miles, while driving my 2018 Honda Odyssey, multiple advanced driver assistance systems (adas) malfunctioned simultaneously. The following warning lights and messages appeared on the dashboard: lkas (lane keeping assist system) acc (adaptive cruise control) auto high-beam headlights collision mitigation braking system, road departure mitigation this occurred without any prior symptoms, and the systems have remained nonfunctional since the initial incident. I did not observe any physical damage, sensor obstruction, or weather-related cause at the time. The car was in regular use and had not recently undergone service or modification. Safety concern: these systems are critical to safe vehicle operation — especially at highway speeds — and are part of the vehicle’s integrated safety design. Their sudden failure without clear cause presents a serious safety concern for the driver, passengers, and others on the road. Troubleshooting / diagnosis so far: battery is original and may be aging, but the issue persisted after a jumpstart. No recent accidents or damage. Online research shows that many other 2018–2020 Odyssey owners have reported similar simultaneous system failures, which may indicate a pattern or a design flaw. Request for action: I respectfully request the following: that Honda investigate this incident and advise if it is part of a known issue or technical service bulletin (TSB). If applicable, provide warranty or goodwill coverage for diagnosis and repair. Consider this complaint as part of broader data regarding a potential system-wide electrical/software defect.

Mass safety system failure due to front projector camera/ wiring harness. Noted systems below failed: adaptive cruise control auto emergency braking forward collision warning lane departure warning lane keeping assistance auto high beams all above system are not operational.

The camera started malfunctioning and now I have a bunch of warning lights on the dash. I think is crazy that a lot of people have the same issue and still there is no recalls for it. Is a major safety issue.

I have 6 error lights on my dash board. Road departure mitigation system problem, auto high-beam problem, collision mitigation system problem, lane keeping assist problem, ada pat I’ve cruise control problem. My car was rear ended from an insured from utica national insurance group. After my car was rear ended these error message came up. They fixed the car but refused to fix to have the lights removed because they said that these error lights do not come on after a rear end accident.

The front-facing camera responsible for detecting surrounding traffic is malfunctioning, which in turn compromises several critical safety systems. These include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning. All of these features depend on the proper functioning of this camera. The vehicle has never been involved in a collision, and the camera was neither abused nor damaged. The failure occurred suddenly and without warning, triggering multiple warning lights on the dashboard. While the vehicle remains operable, all advanced driver assistance systems are currently disabled. It is my contention that Honda has engineered a defective camera system that requires a substantial out-of-pocket expense for vehicle owners to repair. I believe this cost should be borne by Honda, not the consumer. Accordingly, I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this issue and require Honda to implement a recall that permanently addresses the problem.

Multipurpose camera behind the front windshield was inspected by Honda dealership. They were able to verify it had a fault and needed to be replaced at a cost of around $1700. This camera controls many of the safety features this van advertises such as the the lane keep assist and collision mitigation. While researching online, I was able to find multiple owners of the 2018-2019 Honda Odyssey that have had this same issue. Ebay has recently sold 3 of these cameras that have been salvaged from donors. This is an ongoing issue that Honda has not rectified. I believe this should absolutely be recalled.

Unknown, though others who have reported this problem are saying the front camera and it's calibration are at fault. Currently, 5 systems (3 reported + 2 more) are under warning on my vehicle due to this unknown issue and the dealership wants a ridiculous amount of money to fix even though it appears to be very common and frequent as these vehicles get more and more miles on them.

The monocular camera installed in the front windshield over time going bad. It happen because in California always sun overheating the car when car is parked and it overheat camers components and it failed. Together the vehicle turned off pre collission avoidance system, automatic brake system, lane keeping system and etc. I have same issues on my 2021 Honda insight it goes bad even the vehicle is 3 years fresh.

I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this issue and consider issuing a recall for affected vehicles.

I in August 2025, I experienced a sudden and complete failure of the forward-facing windshield camera in my 2018 Honda Odyssey, which disabled multiple safety-critical systems. After having new tires installed at discount tire in preparation for a road trip, I started my vehicle and was immediately confronted with multiple dashboard warnings, including: •“road mitigation system problem” •“auto high-beam problem” •“adaptive cruise control problem” •“lane keeping assist problem” •“brake system” I took the vehicle to a Honda dealership. They diagnosed dtc u3000:49 — internal failure with multipurpose camera unit and informed me the only repair option is to replace the camera and perform camera aiming. The quoted repair cost is approximately $2,000. The dealer explained that this failure is “common in hot climates. ” if true, this represents a serious design flaw. The Odyssey was marketed as a family vehicle equipped with advanced safety systems, yet a single component failure suddenly disables nearly every major driver-assist safety feature. This is a serious safety defect for several reasons: 1. Safety systems suddenly fail without warning. One moment the systems are working, and the next they are completely disabled. A driver relying on lane keeping, collision mitigation, or adaptive cruise control would be placed at immediate risk. 2. Known widespread issue. The dealer admitted this happens in hot climates, suggesting Honda is aware of the problem but has not addressed it. 3. Unreasonable repair cost. A vital safety component should not have a built-in failure mode tied to environmental conditions, forcing owners to pay thousands out of pocket for safety-critical repairs. 4. Loss of federally encouraged safety features. Forward collision mitigation and lane departure warning systems are strongly promoted by NHTSA itself. Their failure removes protections drivers expect when purchasing the vehicle. This issue appears to be a common defect in Honda Odyssey vehicle.

5 major safety systems are automatically disabled and on further troubleshooting by the dealer, all these issues are pointing to a faulty front collision avoidance camera. The cost to replace and recalibrate the camera is upwards of $2400. This is absolutely ridiculous and seems like a safety recall issue.

All of the warning lights associated with advanced safety features came on on the way back from a visit to local store. When checking the codes there is a the u3000-49 code indicating an issue with the mono camera or radar unit. These warnings do not allow for the use of any of the safety features affected. The code cannot be cleared from the system either.

In our 2018 Honda Odyssey ex-l, a few weeks ago 5 different warning lights started coming on when the vehicle was started and continued while the car was driven. Lane assist, collision warning, auto high beams, braking system and adaptive cruise control. Just yesterday the rear hatch started to malfunction; currently the rear hatch can be opened and closed manually but the power lift does not function and now is the 6th warning on the driving display. The car was taken to a Honda dealership for diagnosis, and after paying $99 for the diagnosis of the issues, several other diagnosis fees would be required to get to the root of the issue which the tech states is most likely a control module malfunction due to a water leak. The fix would then be finding and fixing the leak, then replacing the module and wrapping the module in plastic to prevent future issues. Then more diagnosis fees to find and correct the other issues which could include replacing the multipurpose camera. -if a selling point of the driver assist, collision warning and automatic braking are safety improvements, by default if the system is faulty then ours and others safety is at an increased risk. -the vehicle has been inspected by a dealer -before a few weeks ago no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms were present. All of the symptoms have been rather sudden. We have been getting rain almost daily for the past few weeks.

The adaptive cruise control, collision warning, lane keep assist and other safety features have stopped working as indicated by errors displayed on dashboard. Suspect front camera is malfunctioning but has not been confirmed by independent service center. At first, this seemed to be an intermittent issue, but now the error messages appear every time the car is used.

They claimed the bad battery, bad wheel alignment but they were not an issue. The front camera was failed, and it costs $2,408 after their discount coupon. Same thing happened to my 2019 Honda accord hybrid. I googled it and found a lot of Honda vehicles share same problem. All the malfunctioning come from the failed front camera and it could be very dangerous if it happened during driving. This is a serious safety issue and all Honda's fault. They provided the problematic part. I never heard the similar problems happened to other brands such as Toyota, chevy, Hyundai, and more. All happened to Honda car. They provided the poor quality front camera and they charging fortune to replace it. That front camera costs more than 10% of my current car value. It does not make sense. I strongly claim Honda should recall their front cameras and reimburse all the expense we already paid. Thank you very much.

Issue description: my 2018 Honda Odyssey (VIN: [xxx] ) has a total failure of the multipurpose camera, permanently disabling the collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), forward collision warning (fcw), and lane keeping assist (lkas). In addition to these, the regular cruise control is also disabled. These are primary safety systems, not elective conveniences. Persistent failure: errors occur immediately upon every startup. Mid-drive danger: systems have deactivated multiple times while in motion, causing sudden, unpredictable loss of driver-assist features at highway speeds. Total loss of control: both adaptive and standard cruise control are completely disabled, forcing manual-only operation. Infrastructure failure: the failure prevents the vehicle from recognizing lane markings (rdm/lkas), leaving the car unable to assist in steering corrections. Safety risk: the vehicle can no longer perform emergency braking or provide collision alerts, significantly increasing the risk of high-speed crashes. This is a premature failure of a non-wear safety electronic at 91k miles. It is a severe safety defect that leaves the vehicle unequipped with the crash-prevention technology it was designed to have. Manufacturer response: american Honda (case #16167889) and ncds (case #xxx) denied assistance, citing the expired 3yr/36k warranty. I contend this is an extension of the known electrical architecture defects in this model year (e. G. , recall 23v-431), and a component intended for the life of the vehicle should not fail such that it disables multiple safety systems simultaneously. Windshield monocular camera overheated. No longer working.

Suddenly the van gave me 5 different warnings as below. 1. Adaptive cruise control problem. 2. Lane keep asist problem 3. Collision mitigation system problem 4. Road departure mitigation system problem 5. Auto high-beam problem on top of these, 'brake system' light also turned on.

The forward camera on this vehicle fails and you lose all your adaptive cruise control, regular cruise control, lane assist, emergency breaking, and adaptive high beams. This is the second failure of the camera since I have owned the vehicle 1. 5 years and 30000 miles.
