106 problems related to adaptive cruise control have been reported for the 2018 Honda Odyssey. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2018 Honda Odyssey based on all problems reported for the 2018 Odyssey.
The monocular camera behind the front windshield has failed resulting in all safety functions related to it (adaptive cruise, lane assist, blind spot, etc. ) failing to work.
Issue description: my 2018 Honda Odyssey (VIN: [xxx] ) has a total failure of the multipurpose camera, permanently disabling the collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), forward collision warning (fcw), and lane keeping assist (lkas). In addition to these, the regular cruise control is also disabled. These are primary safety systems, not elective conveniences. Persistent failure: errors occur immediately upon every startup. Mid-drive danger: systems have deactivated multiple times while in motion, causing sudden, unpredictable loss of driver-assist features at highway speeds. Total loss of control: both adaptive and standard cruise control are completely disabled, forcing manual-only operation. Infrastructure failure: the failure prevents the vehicle from recognizing lane markings (rdm/lkas), leaving the car unable to assist in steering corrections. Safety risk: the vehicle can no longer perform emergency braking or provide collision alerts, significantly increasing the risk of high-speed crashes. This is a premature failure of a non-wear safety electronic at 91k miles. It is a severe safety defect that leaves the vehicle unequipped with the crash-prevention technology it was designed to have. Manufacturer response: american Honda (case #16167889) and ncds (case #xxx) denied assistance, citing the expired 3yr/36k warranty. I contend this is an extension of the known electrical architecture defects in this model year (e. G. , recall 23v-431), and a component intended for the life of the vehicle should not fail such that it disables multiple safety systems simultaneously. Windshield monocular camera overheated. No longer working.
Suddenly the van gave me 5 different warnings as below. 1. Adaptive cruise control problem. 2. Lane keep asist problem 3. Collision mitigation system problem 4. Road departure mitigation system problem 5. Auto high-beam problem on top of these, 'brake system' light also turned on.
The forward camera on this vehicle fails and you lose all your adaptive cruise control, regular cruise control, lane assist, emergency breaking, and adaptive high beams. This is the second failure of the camera since I have owned the vehicle 1. 5 years and 30000 miles.
I have an intermittent set of warnings on Honda Odyssey 2018 "lane keeping assist problem" "adaptive cruise control problem" "collision mitigation system problem" "road departure mitigation system problem" all at the same time will appear on the dashboard. I had brought it up to the dealership when under warranty and they were unable to resolve it. It comes and goes at random.
All the safety systems randomly disable themselves while driving and throw this code. Next time the vehicle starts, sometimes they are gone, then come back while driving, other times they are there from the start. U0104(00) [0xc10400] data bus, cruise control module - no communication.
Driving on the freeway my lane keeping assistance, automatic emergency breaking, and adaptive cruise control warnings were flashing. The prompts keep my focus off the road as the beeps and flashing orange lights cannot be disabled. During my drive, the multicamera on the windshield seems to be malfunctions and often I would get a signal of on coming traffic and my steering wheel would vibrate to prompt me to move. This can be extremely terrifying and sometimes caused me to swerve, potentially hitting other cars. The multicamera needs to be recalled and fixed.
It seems the front dash camera failed to operate which caused all safety systems that rely on it to fail.
I was unable to utilize my cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure or any of the features that is related to the Honda sensing program. I was told by the Honda dealership that it was the camera refocusing and continue to refocus which leads for it to overheat.
Adas system failure. An audible alert would sound and the following problems would scroll across dash display: auto high-beam problem; adaptive cruise control problem; lane keeping assist problem; collision mitigation system problem; road departure mitigation system problem. Also, "brake system' illuminated in red near bottom of display. Diagnostic at Honda dealer indicated, "u3000-49 multipurpose camera unit internal electronic failure". To repair, the quote for the unit itself was $1201. 34 plus tax. Calibration was an additional $660. 00. I found the unit online at a better price and so purchased it and had the dealer install. My total cost for the unit and installation/calibration was $1. 496. 74. Even though it is a 2018 model I would have expected this camera unit to last much longer. It's an expensive part! my hope would be for Honda to issue an extended warranty and I'd be eligible for compensation on this repair. If needed I can provide paperwork. Please advise. Thank you.
The multipurpose camera on the windshield needs to be recalibrated and I've been told by dealerships that this is a common problem with 2018 Honda Odyssey. Unless I pay over $2000 to have the camera recalibrated, systems including the antilock brake system do not work.
The front camera has failed resulting in safety concerns including braking system and cruise control failure. This is a known issue with many new Honda Odysseys and needs to be recalled as it is not safe to drive as it disables all Honda sensing and auto braking components on the vehicle.
2018 Odyssey elite with 43k miles. Apparently, the front facing camera failed and if the camera fails -- which seems to have been reported by many other owners -- it's about a $1700 fix from a dealer. Not only should the camera not fail, but this is happening to cars that are low miles, low use, and the failure affects all camera-related safety features of the vehicle: lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, parking collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.
Multiple warnings occurred simultaneously for the "brake system" intermittent. I have the same issue per [xxx] for my Honda Odyssey 2018 elite. I can see the same problem by a lot of people. I told Honda and paid them $220 diagnosis fees and they ended up asked me to change the whole camera that cost 4k. This obviously defect issue from Honda. Looks like known issue for this. Can this escalate back to Honda? for example [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Upon starting the vehicle we get the following warning lights: road departure mitigation system problem blind spot info system problem adaptive cruise control problem lane keeping assist problem transmission system problem collision mitigation system problem the vehicle is drivable but none of our safety features work. We took it to a local shop that was close and they said it’s a known issue with Honda and that the monocular camera located in the windshield is malfunctioning.
Upon startup of the vehicle the following warnings flash on the dash: "auto high-beam problem, acc adaptive cruise control problem, lkas lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem. " this problem is easily reproduced and occurs almost every time I start my vehicle. I had my battery tested and it was reported to be good. The vehicle still drives correctly, but none of the safety features listed above work. If these features are going to be mandated on newer vehicles they should be reliable and function correctly. I will never buy another Honda vehicle!.
The front facing monocular camera has failed and my 2018 Odyssey has less than 55k miles on it. Without the operation of this camera you cannot use the cruise control and the dash lights up with all kinds of warnings (lane mitigation failure, acc failure, brake light continuously on). This is a known faulty safety feature that is far to common for the newer Odyssey models. This is ridiculous that Honda has put this system into their vehicles, in particular the Odyssey and there needs to be a service bulletin to repair this issue or recall completely. It is obviously a faulty part and needs to be resolved.
Regularly maintained my Honda dealership. Suddenly get warnings for all safety elements - adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, collision mitigation system, road departure mitigation system, auto high beam headlight. Recommended to report as this seems to be a common thing with Honda and needs to be a recall.
I got in and turned on the car one afternoon and all these lights came on. No wrecks or anything has happened. Just all systems have failed. Brake system problem acc problem collision mitigation problem lake keep assist problem auto high beam problem this is a huge safety issue as this vehicle carries my children. We will be taking it to the dealership this week but these types of issues shouldn’t be happing this quickly. We need a recall to fix this issue as many many others have had these same issues. These are safety systems that will save your life!.
Multipurpose front camera controlling multiple vehicle safety features had internal failure. Dealer required replacement of camera and calibration. Multiple warning lights came on dashboard to alert of issue. Faulty camera was diagnosed by Honda dealer and is with dealer currently.
Unknown but many Honda Odyssey owners are reporting the same issue which most likely caused by defective multipurpose camera at the front windshield. This create alerts and deactivates safety features: adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, lane keep assist, collision mitigation, auto-high beam, road departure mitigation, and brake system.
Adaptive cruise control, forward collision warnin, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance lights came on and won't go away. Sometime the car won't reverse when put in reverse.
The monocular front window camera is malfunctioning. This front window camera controls the following safety features: -lane keep assist (lkas) -collision mitigation -adaptive cruise control -lane departure mitigation -rain sensor windshield wipes -auto high beam -automatic emergency braking in addition to compromising these safety features when the camera fails, false warnings are repeatedly provided on the dash of the vehicle, sometimes in a singular and sometimes in a cyclic manner.
Started my car and got all these warning lights acc problem, collision mitigation problem, lake keep assist problem, auto high beam problem. From reading forums online this is a common issue for Honda Odysseys 2018-2023. The camera is faulty. This should have a recall.
Upon inspection from Honda dealership, internal failure of multipurpose camera.
When I turned on the ignition to drive the vehicle, multiple warning lights came on to include failure of lane keeping assistance, forward collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. Additionally, after acknowledging these lights, the "brake system" light remained on in the amber color. If these safety features are not working properly, it can put the occupants of my vehicle as well as others at risk. We took the vehicle to the Honda dealer. They ran the diagnostics and stated that the fault was "internal electronic failure of multipurpose camera unit/internal failure of multipurpose camera". We had to replace the multipurpose camera and have the new one re-calibrated.
The front monocular camera (36160-thr-a03) completely stopped working. It is behind the rear view mirror, behind the front windshield. Errors displayed on dashboard indicating lane keep assist, forward collision warning, brake mitigation system, adaptive cruise control, and brake system lights turned on. (99% of the time). On occasion, transmission problem, blind spot detection, and rear camera cross traffic detection (radar disabled) would also go on (3% of the time). While driving the vehicle on the freeway, the dashboard went completely black for about 3-5 seconds, and I could not see my speed, fuel, odometer, and everything else. It came back on, but that really concerned me. I immediately opened a ticket with Honda corporate. (repair diagnosis request: 14552995). The root cause was not identified. However, some speculate a failing battery (low voltage) can trigger it. In my case, I replaced the battery first when the symptoms first started, but the issue did not resolve even after driving it 500+ miles. The oddest symptom is something I could not explain. Every Saturday (like clockwork because kids soccer practice), between 12pm-1pm local time (eastern for me), the issue would go away completely and the camera (and all assistive features) would work completely normal. As soon as I power off/on the vehicle, the issue came back immediately… until the next Saturday. This happened 3 times, 3 weeks in a row. Makes me think there’s a software/firmware glitch. Honda did a goodwill with me and paid 50% of parts and labor. Honda (dealership) confirmed it was a part failure, and replaced the part and all issues went away. Given the front camera issue also affected the rear camera on occasion (cross traffic radar failure), and that part was already recalled, my opinion that when this part fails, it has greater implication to other safety features/electrical system. Due to this also being cost prohibitive, I suspect many will opt to not to fix it.
Vehicle started to display acc problem, lkas problem, trnsmission system problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, auto lights problem and blind spot info system problem recently around September 19,2024 and disabled all the safety features mentioned on the vehicle while it is in motion. This is a huge safety issue and could cause severe problem for many drivers and passengers in case of serious accidents which could be avoided if those systems are functioning properly. Upon researching the issue, this is very common problem for many of similar vehicles and it seems to be related to the monocular camera on the windshield. I strongly urge for quick investigation on this matter and have Honda motors to do a recall for replacing faulty camera as it could impact many lives.
All of the safety features stop working intermittently on my van. The warning lights do all come on. Independent mechanic says the multipurpose camera unit has stopped working. Safety features that I thought I had are not available.
The adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and other safety functions associated with the front camera failed. These safety features are a huge part of the vehicle and doesn't feel safe to drive. The front camera has failed in under 6 years and is currently being replaced by the dealer to hopefully fix these issues. The repair is not covered by Honda.
Regularly maintained my Honda Odyssey elite. Suddenly get warnings for all safety elements while driving - adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, collision mitigation system, road departure mitigation system, auto high beam headlight. Recommended to report as this seems to be a common thing with Honda and needs to be a recall. Dealership wants me to change out the radar sensor in the front which seems to be the root cause. Lots of other Honda Odysseys having the same safety issue as reported on NHTSA website.
Multiple warning lights came on, indicating a failure with the front camera sensor attached near the rear view mirror. Errors include: auto high-beams, lane keep warning, collision mitigation system, road departure warning, brake system, and adaptive cruise control failure. All problems stem for the single point of failure - the front-facing sensor/camera located at the top of the windshield. Replacement quotes are $1,800 - $2,500!.
Acc,lkas, collision mitigation system, road departure mitigation system, auto high beam warnings. All read problem and do not go away.
Failure of the front windshield mounted monocular camera from overheating causes all advanced driver assistance systems to shut down such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, etc. This is a very common occurrence in not just the Honda Odyssey, but other Honda models as well. A new part can be anywhere from one to two thousand requiring dealer calibration. The heat from the sun, the location of the monocular camera and possible contribution from replaced non-oem windshields may contribute to the overheating. With all safety devices disabled, the vehicle becomes unsafe to operate requiring immediate attention and dealer only service since a new device requires calibration.
