1 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2026

I was commuting home, about 30 minutes into the drive, all of the dashboard and radio went blank for a few seconds. It came back on and the break light, anit-collision, lane departure, lights were all flashing. It did this 2 more times in the over the next 5 minutes. I was concerned for my safety because I wasn't sure if my breaks and all the other things were working propoerly. I didn't know how fast I was going or if my car was going to stall on the highway. I see that a recall was issued by Honda yesertday, not for my car model, but a similar issue (a software bug can cause the instrument panel and rear-view camera to go blank). It has not yet been inspected by a repair person. There wre not any warning lights prior to this happening.

2 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2026

The car has started giving warnings every time I turn it on (as of 6 months ago): adaptive cruise control problem, collision mitigation system problem, auto high beam problem, lane keeping assist problem. It seems there must be a fault in the windshield camera that renders all these safety features useless. The repair shop stated that windshield camera isn’t working and is a $2k or more to repair. I am now driving a minivan that doesn’t have many important safety features and this is very dangerous.

3 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2026

**vehicle:** 2019 Honda Odyssey **components affected:** forward collision avoidance, lane departure, adaptive cruise control, braking system, exterior lighting, electrical system, instrument cluster **complaint summary:** multiple safety systems on my 2019 Honda Odyssey have simultaneously failed, including lkas, acc, collision mitigation braking system, auto high-beam headlights, and other driver-assist features. The dashboard displays warnings for nearly every safety-related system, and the vehicle disables these features without warning. **detailed description of the problem:** whenever I start my vehicle, multiple error messages are displayed related to the lane keeping assist system (lkas), adaptive cruise control (acc), collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), road departure mitigation, auto headlights, and other safety features. These warnings appear together and persist even after restarting the vehicle. Apparently, this issue is widespread among 2018–2020 Honda Odyssey owners, with many reporting the same cluster of system failures. The problem appears to be related to a malfunction in the vehicle’s electrical system, sensors, or control modules. In my case, the failures occur without any external damage, weather event, or driver action that would explain the sudden loss of safety functionality. When these systems fail, the vehicle disables critical safety features such as automatic emergency braking, lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, and automatic headlights. This creates a significant safety risk, especially at highway speeds or in low?visibility conditions. **frequency:** the issue occurs whenever the vehicle is started, affecting my driving everyday.

4 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2026

The front camera that is responsible for adas suddenly died and it is very vurnerable to heat. The unit gets very hot and it gets hot quickly. The lifespan of the unit is very short and the dealer is asking for $2000 to replace it like they have seen this pretty often.

5 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2025

Honda sensing stopped working and threw a bunch of errors about acc, lkas, collision mitigation, auto high beam error, forward collision, lane keep. Apparently the camera had an internal fault without any prior warning. Also vehicle’s timing belt tensioner already deemed leaking at just 75,000 miles, well below the 100k replacement point, despite regular checks and maintenance at Honda dealers. Front suspension leaking, Honda replaced only 1, and declined to replace both, as recommended by dealer mechanic. If I did not have Honda care, I would be left with a very large repair bill for critical components of the drivability and safety of the vehicle. This is not acceptable.

6 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2025

All of the alarm lights are going on at once, immediately when the car is turned on. This includes the collision mitigation system problem, adaptive cruise control system, lane keeping assist system (lkas), break system. I am told by my local garage that it is a Odyssey radar system failure, that probably originates in the camera or computer, but that they cannot fix it or get parts for it. It is unclear if these systems work or not.

7 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2025

Multi-purpose camera unit internal electronic failure. Front-facing camera mounted in the windshield. This caused several warning lights including the brake system warning light to illuminate. This failure caused the automatic brake system and other safety features in the car to turn off. The vehicle has been inspected by a mechanic. There were no other warning signs.

8 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2025

The multipurpose camera has an internal failure at 105 thousand miles. This controls the automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and more. This safety features such as emergency braking, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning are important safety features. All of these features help drivers avoid collisions by acting to correct or avoid collisions or accidents faster or earlier than drivers can react. The Honda dealership service department has confirmed that the multipurpose camera had an internal failure, but did not provide a reason and there was no inciting incident during driving or ownership that caused this. The Honda dealership service department has been inspected and diagnosed that the multipurpose camera had an internal failure. No, there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. They only appeared after the failure, and the failure happened without warning. The failure first appeared on July 7th, 2025.

9 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2025

The automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning will occasionally go off when there are no vehicles or obstructions in the way. It will often cause the vehicle to brake and make the driver act to keep the vehicle in lane or from another vehicle from rear ending you.

10 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2025

Without any notable prior messages or symptoms prior to the failure, on [xxx] after dropping off the kids at school and then turning on my 2019 Honda Odyssey ex-l (28,170 miles), the "brake system" light was on and the following 5 dashboard warning lights/messages turned 1) adaptive cruise control problem, 2) lane keeping assist problem, 3) collision mitigation system problem, 4) road departure mitigation system problem, 5) auto high-beam problem. The advanced driver assistance systems no longer works, and it becomes unknown to the driver whether the "brake system" light is being triggered only by the collision mitigation system problem, or an additional problemch as the anti-lock brake system not working. While no accidents occurred, the warning lights add unneeded driver anxiety, which can contribute to a potential safety impact. The problem has been confirmed by the san leandro, CA Honda dealer to be error code u3000-49. Dealer diagnosed problem as "multipurpose camera / millimeter wave radar internal circuit failure" and recommended to replace the multipurpose camera and perform aiming. Dealer advised that safety features will not work. The diagnostic fee was $179. 10, and the repair fee was quoted as $2456. 55 the vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

11 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2025

Bcm software is out of date or not programmed correctly, car turns off while driving. When park and off and the keys are away, car tries to turn on by itself. Power lost while driving.

12 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2025

When starting my van, I got warnings for acc, lane departure, and collision mitigation stating that the issues were broken. I received error code u3000-49 at the Honda repair dealer which stated the multipurpose camera no longer works. In doing my research, it appears this is a known issue that Honda is not taking responsibility for and charging $1,500 to $2,000 to repair. They state the car works fine other than having none of those safety features working.

13 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2025

It first started with the power tailgate failure which I brought it to Honda who are aware that there is a faulty sealant that is causing water to get into these Odysseys. They refuse to fix the issues and they are very costly. My van has never been in an accident. Now I'm getting all sorts of warnings from the adas system. Honda has refused to fix their issues and I can not afford $7000 cost to get this cleared up. People who own these vans are complaining and no one is doing enough to get this recalled.

14 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2024

I took my van to the dealer and they told me that the sensor inside of the front mirror is faulty, causing the following lights to continue to cycle if the car is adaptive cruise control problem (acc); auto high-beam problem (a); road departure mitigation system problem; collision mitigation system problem; lane keeping assist problem (lkas); brake system lights. I am unable to engage or disengage any of these systems, including when I am driving. This seems to be a major security hazard and I am aware of others that have experienced this with this exact year, make and model (across different packages) of Honda minivan. I just wanted to report this in case this becomes a major concern for other consumers.

15 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2024

Adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, automatic braking, auto beam functions stopped working.

16 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2024

Started the car one morning and instantly a bunch of warning messages appear on the dashboard stating; 1) collision mitigation system problem 2) lane keeping assist problem 3) road departure mitigation system problem 4) auto high beam problem 5) auto emergency braking problem. There is also a brake system light on now (amber color) due to the above. Never had an issue before now. This is on a Honda Odyssey 2019 ex with just over 35k miles. Took car to local mechanic who ran diagnostic report and found the following issue; "integrated driver support/monocular camera driver support system issue; multi-purpose camera unit/millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure" contacted the Honda dealership who want $1500 for a new device and programing; this is disgusting. This issue is so widespread its almost ready to be a full blown recall.

17 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2024

The camera that controls all the advanced driver assistance system fails intermittently. This causes 5 different warnings to come on and all of the safety features bases on this camera to stop working. This is an ongoing issue. An internet search shows that there are multiple Honda vehicles with this problem.

18 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2024

2019 Honda Odyssey recently started having these problems intermittently, about 50% of the time I start the car: acc problem collision mitigation problem lake keep assist problem auto high beam problem it prevents the front collision mitigation from working.

19 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2024

The monocular front window camera in 2018-2023 Honda's (odyssey, ridgline, pilot. . . ) fails. This front window camera controls the following safety features: -lane keep assist (lkas) -collision mitigation -adaptive cruise control -lane departure mitigation -rain sensor windshield wipes -auto high beam -automatic emergency breaking in addition to compromising these safety features when the camera fails, false warnings are repeatedly provided on the dash of the vehicle, sometimes in a singular and sometimes in a cyclic manner that you cannot get to shut off while driving. In addition to the cyclic visual warnings that cannot be turned off sometimes, the system repetitively beeps through the cycle of erros/warnings. I thought I was the only one with this issue, but my research has revealed hundreds of complaints over the last year. [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] Honda told me they are unaware that this is a common issue, and it is $1800 to fix. I am not able to fix it at this time due to cost (and history of major issues with this vehicle, including the infotainment issue that was settled a few years ago) information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

20 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2024

Random extreme sudden braking (activation of the cmbs) while driving on the freeway, without any vehicle in reasonable proximity tothe front or to either side. Creates hazardous situation resulting in collision with a car following behind or loss of control. Daytime driving, dry pavement, both sunny and cloudy. Full visibility. This has been ocurring for the last three years, frequently.

21 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2023

My vehicle suddenly slammed on the brakes with no warning. The “brake” light for the emergency braking system began flashing at the same time the car began a hard brake. It came to a complete stop in the middle of an intersection and I had absolutely no control over the vehicle. I was very fortunate that it didn’t cause a collision but it came very close. I don’t see how this is a safety feature, it’s incredibly dangerous. The only way to turn it off is to remember to turn it off every time you start the car. Absurd.

22 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2023

Over the last three weeks, there were 3 incidents where the emergency braking system spiked the brakes when there was no reason. There was one incident where the lane departure spiked the brakes for no reason. Over the first 5 years owning the vehicle, this never happened. The first incident was going around a curve on a 2-lane road I travel at least twice a day. It sometimes beeps for cars in the other lane, but has never spiked the brakes until now. The car in the other lane was not over the line. There was a car behind us and they almost hit us due to the rapid braking. Incident 2 was on a straght road when there was a right lane closure with orange cones gradually blocking the lane. I started moving to the left lane well in advance and was most of the way in the lane when the brakes spiked. There was no oncoming traffic, but a car behind me had to brake hard to avoid hitting me. Incident 3 was similar to incident 2, except there was a box in the road. With a straight road and no oncoming traffic, I was fully in the left lane, avoiding the box, when the brakes spiked. The 4th incident involved spiking the brakes with a lane departure warning. I was going around a curve that I travel at least twice a day. The road was clear and no traffic coming the other way. Going around the left curve in full control, the right lane departure warning sounded and spiked the brakes. The brakes had never applied before in a lane departure scenario. I took the van to the dealer and they made it sound normal, like four improper emergency braking incidents in 3 weeks was a regular occurrence. They tried to duplicate the issue and checked the computer for codes, but found nothing. This does not seem normal to me and is a safety issue that could cause an accident if the car spikes the brakes for no reason like this and someone is following closely, not expecting me to stop.

23 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2022

Collision mitigation system problem error keeps appearing randomly on the screen!.

24 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2022

I was driving my 2019 Honda Odyssey on the highway and it stopped suddenly in the middle of the highway. The car went to idle mode and changed itself to park gear. We had to off the car and restart it which was dangerous in the middle of the highway. This same incident happened earlier too but in a residential street. We took it to the dealership but they said they couldn’t find anything wrong. Then I heard the news story about NHTSA investigation into this problem with Honda and wanted to report my experience. This is dangerous and they need to figure out what is going on.

25 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2021

I am reporting a very strange occurrence with my 2019 Honda Odyssey Mini-van. I was driving on Tuesday evening and it was very foggy and I was approaching one of those large metal plates they put over a trench they dig in the road when they do construction (it covers the trench) and my car started flashing "brake" like it does sometimes when it thinks a car is in front of it. Typically, this flashes occasionally when a car gets too close, but then goes away as long as the car moves out of the way. This time, there was no car, just an open foggy road and this large metal plate on the road. However, as I got closer to the metal plate, suddenly my brakes fully locked up and the vehicle went into an emergency full stop. I was pushing on the accelerator but it would not go and the vehicle came to a complete and sudden stop. Thankfully no one was behind me, or I would have gotten into an accident. Then the vehicle started to move again and has been totally fine since. But, what is this all about? it seems the emergency braking mode kicked in but it should not have, the road was wide open and the only thing unusual was a large metal plate covering some hole in the road.

26 Automatic Emergency Braking problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2020

Auto emergency breaking: vehicle often engages emergency breaking at highway speeds when a vehicle is slightly ahead, in a different lane, and brakes while exiting the highway, and there is no danger or no vehicles directly in front of this vehicle. Other vehicles following behind me have to manually (or automatically as well) brake accordingly and this creates both a nuisance and dangerous situation. Speed control / transmission: vehicle has moved forward while in "reverse", often "surges" in speed while for a brief moment while shifting, has moved/lurched when starting the engine. The instance of moving forward while in reverse caused a near miss in hitting another vehicle. The surging, in particular on downhills, causes the vehicle to accelerate slightly.
