Adaptive Cruise Control problems of the 2019 Honda Odyssey - part 1

Ton of warning messages displayed related to adas systems not working. Took car to the dealership and was told the multicamera system failed. Messages almost identical to what's reported here and apparently many other Honda owners are reporting the same problem. Failure of the front multipurpose camera which helps control functions such as automatic braking, lane keep assist, automatic cruise control, lane departure, etc.

My entire adas system malfunction and it started listing 7 warning alerts. I googled and it seems like is a common theme with this vehicle.

2019 Honda Odyssey ex : sensing camera located behind front windshield failed and stopped working and giving bunch of error messages. Cruise control and other saftey features operated with help of this camera stopped working. The part number is 36160-thr-a11-m1.

The lkas, acc, aeb, automatic high beams, and other safety features that rely on the front camera all became inoperable for no apparent reason. The front facing camera seems to be the culprit. This is a known issue and Honda should submit a recall to replace the faulty camera.

I am reporting a safety-related defect involving my **2019 Honda Odyssey ex-l** (VIN: **5fnrl6h76kb029137**) with approximately *,156 miles**. **"brake system"** warning message appears first. Within seconds, additional warnings appear one at a time for **adaptive cruise control (acc), lane keeping assist system (lkas), collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), road departure mitigation (rdm), and automatic high beam**. All of these safety systems become unavailable. The vehicle continues to drive and brake normally, and the speedometer functions correctly. The blind spot information system and rear parking sensors continue to operate normally. A diagnostic scan performed by a vip Honda mechanic identified **diagnostic trouble code u3000-* stored in the **front multipurpose camera module**, indicating an internal camera module fault. The battery and alternator have been tested and are operating correctly. The vehicle has its **original windshield**, has **never been involved in a collision**, and there are * signs of water intrusion** around the front camera assembly. This failure occurred suddenly during normal driving without any known external cause. The failure disables multiple collision avoidance and driver assistance systems that are intended to help prevent crashes. Because these safety systems become unavailable during normal vehicle operation, I believe this represents a potential safety defect that should be investigated. I have notified Honda of this issue and opened **american Honda customer relations case #165-16502**. Honda is currently reviewing the matter for possible goodwill assistance. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether similar front camera module failures (dtc u3000-49) are occurring in other 2019 Honda Odyssey vehicles equipped with Honda sensing.

The car started having the acc, lkas, collisions mitigation, auto high bam, road departure mitigation system warnings. Took it to the dealer for another repair and was told that these lights were due to the front facing camera and was quoted over $1k for repair. I’m convinced it’s electrical and not necessarily what the Honda narrative is. This model has had several issues around electrical components. Please open an investigation into this car around this issue.

Front camera intermittently works after NHTSA recall number 26v-227 software update. Adas systems may turn on or off while driving. This issue may not have anything to do with the update, but Honda is aware of the front camera problem. Affects: auto high-beam problem adaptive cruise control problem lane keeping assist problem collision mitigation system problem road departure mitigation system problem there has been a class action lawsuit filed against Honda by California June 2026.

I have 2019 Honda Odyssey and my front windshield camera shows multiple lights also nothing works there are shows 11 working lights also I go dealer and they toll me you have to replace your windshield camera and it cost $2200 and not only me there are so many people facing that same problem plz give a recall for Honda Odyssey year 2018 2019 & 2020.

Started getting bombarded with error messages. Collision mitigation lka adaptive cruise lane departure mitigation auto high beam.

I have received warning lights associated with safety features controlled by front facing windshield camera indicating that the acc, auto braking, lane departure and front collision avoidance features were not working. This has happened once before just over a year ago and I was told by the dealer that the camera needed to be replaced. I did so, at a cost of over $2k. All features worked again after the costly replacement, until last month, just outside of the one year warranty on the new camera. This is clearly an issue with either the camera or a connected electrical issue. This van also has a breach in the body wields at the rear lift gate opening in which water is able to seep into the interior of the body behind the interior rear side panels. During heavy rains the carpet on the right side trunk area is wet and can be tracked to coming from behind the right rear interior molding. I have not yet removed the molding so I am unsure if any electrical components connected to the front camera and associated safety features are located there and might be causing these safety feature issues. At a minimum, both of these issues, the camera constantly quitting, as well as the breach in the body allowing moisture intrusion, should warrant a forced recall for Honda to address and correct each item.

Collision mitigation system problem, auto high beam problem , lane keep assist problem, adaptive cruise control problem, road departure mitigation problem. All of these lights came on at the same time then a transmission problem light came on. Was told by a mechanic that Honda has an issue with a lot of these because of where it sits directly in the sun. All of these problems seem to be connected.

The front camera failed and made all driver assist, automatic braking, lane departure and collision warnings to fail. The cost of a new camera and calibrations is $2000. This critical piece of safety should not fail so soon or be that expensive to replace.

Rear view multipurpose camera failed.

Failure in the front multipurpose camera. None of the drivers assisted safety features work now. These include: adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, lane keep assistance, lame departure warming, and others.

Camera malfunctions with low mileage.

The dtc u300-49 suddenly failed which affects many of the security systems on the 2019 Honda Odyssey. Upon research, this is very common on the Honda Odyssey caused by it overheating which seems like it should be a dangerous part. It is such an expensive part that we as the consumer have to replace and it should be Honda replacing it if it is their fault that this part fails often. I haven't replaced it as we don't have the funds to replace it, so hopefully it won't pose a safety threat as there are 5 warnings showing on my screen daily.

Drove van about 30 miles and when I cranked it back up. It cranked fine but acc, lkas, auto headlights, and braking system warnings are on. Battery tests fine and camera and emblem is clean and working manner. Not sure whats causing it. Its annoying.

All adas functions stopped working on my 2019 Odyssey during a 6 hour drive to the beach with my family of four. It appears that the multipurpose camera has failed. Some reading online suggests that this is a known thermal defect, and Honda has yet to remedy the issue. Instead opting to let the consumer replace these units at $3k per.

I own a 2019 Honda Odyssey equipped with Honda sensing. The vehicle has repeatedly displayed multiple driver-assistance system failure warnings, including “adaptive cruise control problem,” “lane keeping assist problem,” “collision mitigation braking system problem,” “road departure mitigation system problem,” and “auto high beam problem. ” the warnings initially appeared intermittently and then began recurring. In some cases, the warnings appeared at startup and remained active while driving. When the warnings are present, multiple Honda sensing safety features are disabled simultaneously. To address a possible low-voltage condition, I replaced the vehicle’s battery with a new battery. After replacement and normal driving, the warnings continued to occur. The issue therefore does not appear to be solely related to battery condition. I also observed clouding and dark spotting within the front Honda emblem that covers the forward radar sensor. The discoloration appears to be inside the emblem assembly rather than on the exterior surface. Because the radar sensor is located behind this emblem, I am concerned that deterioration of the emblem or radar assembly may be affecting the operation of critical safety systems. This failure impacts several safety-related functions, including adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, lane keeping assistance, road departure mitigation, and automatic high beams. The loss of multiple advanced driver-assistance systems creates a potential safety risk because the vehicle’s collision avoidance and lane assistance features become unavailable without warning. I am submitting this complaint to document a recurring failure affecting multiple Honda sensing safety systems on my 2019 Honda Odyssey. There are numerous youtube and social media posts on the same failure for same vehicle. It seems to be an issue for 2019 year.

The camera located behind the rearview mirror is faulty. In hot weather locations (like mine in florida) it stops working. And that means all electronically assisted driving systems lkas (like cruise control, auto high beam, lane departure, auto distance monitor/collision warning, etc. ) malfunction, giving flashing messages about all non-working features. This is due to cmos image sensor degradation caused by heat exposure. Many people have expressed concerns about this on different Honda forums online. I took it to a Honda dealer and after paying a fee for diagnosis, the service manager said that when the temperature outside gets hot, they get a lot of this kind of service request. They want over $2,300 to replace the camera. They were actually puzzled why Honda does not recall this item. Honda needs to address this since it is actually safety related and indeed a faulty item. There should be no reason for people to pay this outrageous price for something that is clearly a manufacturing problem.

Warnings adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, collision warning systems, brake system showed up while driving the vehicle, upon further search it was found there is a common issue with Honda Odyssey's multipurpose camera, and the dealer is charging 2000$ to fix it. This is a common problem in all the Honda Odyssey. I request NHTSA to look further into this issue and perform a recall or a free of charge installation. The official Honda Odyssey forum online has countless complaints on the same issue without resolution by Honda. Honda has acted in bad-faith towards their customers since this defect impacts the vehicle's advanced safety features for which buyers incur additional expenses, endangering the lives of passengers. Honda designed a system that requires continuous and substantial expenditures without resolution because it is an engineering problem, I. E. , the placement of the radar behind the large, thick plastic h emblem obstructs the radar. I hereby ask that the NHTSA investigate this issue and order Honda to offer a solution in the form of a recall that permanent addresses the problem.

Root problem seems to be the forward looking camera and/or radar, though there are 8-10 codes in total. This one looks like the primary problem: u3000-49 — multipurpose camera unit / millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure as a result, we no longer have safety features such as emergency braking, collision warning, lane departure warning, or lane keeping assistance. Additionally, cruise control is no longer available. The vehicle is still drivable, but without any of the safety features reliant upon the camera and radar. There one one trip in the last few days where everything functioned normally, but on every other trip these warnings have shown up as soon as the vehicle is started. The warnings for all of those systems are displayed in the gage cluster, as well as a “brake system” light being visible. Sometimes, when the vehicle is started, additional warnings are displayed for blind spot indicator and the transmission. There were no symptoms leading up to this. Everything worked and looked normal one morning, then suddenly appeared when the vehicle was started later that evening. We have not yet had the vehicle inspected by anyone as it’s currently a holiday weekend.

These systems randomly turn off and on while driving with no root cause. Dealership wants a lot of money to fix but they’re not 100% sure what’s causing the problem. Many 2019 Honda Odyssey owners have the same issue and there should be a recall.

The lawsuit alleges a defective front camera system affecting 2018–2025 Honda vehicles, including the Odyssey. I believe this constitutes a safety defect because the failure can occur unexpectedly and simultaneously disables multiple driver-assistance and collision-avoidance safety systems. Several complaints can be seen across many different Honda forums that indicate several years including 2018 - 2023 of the Honda Odyssey are affected by similar issues when the front multi-purpose camera fails. Many have reported extreme heat when physically inspecting the camera unit. The zynq xa72030 chip manufacturer, amd, has listed known issues with this particular chip overheating either due to inadequate cooling (this is a passively cooled chip), poor pcb layout, unstable or undersized power supply, all which can result in thermal shutdown. At startup my vehicle dash immediately lit up with several warning indicating the disablement of multiple systems: lkas, eba, acc, collision mitigation, lane departure, automatic high-beam. In my case, physical inspection revealed the camera outer shell to be extremely hot to the touch necessitating a rag to reduce risk of burn while handling. It's interesting to see that Honda has issues a recall for the back camera which is not tied to many or any other systems at all due to a faulty cable, yet the front facing camera which directly affects lane keep assist, emergency brake assist, collision mitigation, lane departure assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam, has not received a recall despite the many complaints brought forth. It is clearly a defective component that affects many other systems which can lead to potential crashes under the right circumstances. I would urge Honda to issue a recall for all Odysseys experiencing multiple systems failure due to a defective multi-purpose camera.

Multipurpose camera unit/millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure diagnosed with u3000-49 error code in my 2019 Honda Odyssey. The problem has been confirmed by the Honda service center and reason stated is low heat resistance. Coat of repair is approx $2000 and this is purely due to low heat tolerance levels of the Honda component.

The acc is failing in the car. It is due to a faulty radar sensor located behind the rear view mirror that according to the dealership gets to hot it the sun and begins to deteriorate.

The front monocular camera assembly (Honda part number 36160-thr-a81) on my 2019 Honda Odyssey elite failed and is available for inspection upon request. When the failure occurs, the vehicle displays multiple warning messages including “collision mitigation system problem,” “adaptive cruise control problem,” “lane keeping assist problem,” “road departure mitigation system problem,” and “auto high beam problem. ” as a result, several driver-assist safety systems are disabled, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and road departure mitigation, which reduces the vehicle’s active safety features and increases the risk of a collision. The warnings appear simultaneously on the dashboard while driving and remain active until the vehicle is restarted. The condition has been reproduced multiple times and has been confirmed during diagnostic inspection by a service technician. The camera failures are very common and are a design defect. The design was changed in later years but there was not a recall for the 2019 models. This is a very expensive fix and should be covered by a recall.

All Honda sensing / adas safety warnings appear at the same time while driving or shortly after starting the vehicle. When this happens, all driver assistance systems are disabled, including: •adaptive cruise control (acc) •lane keeping assist (lkas) •collision mitigation braking system (cmbs) •road departure mitigation •automatic high beam when the failure occurs, the vehicle displays multiple safety system warnings and the entire driver assistance system shuts down, leaving the vehicle without any adas safety features.

Failure of camera unit leading to all safety systems requiring it becoming non operative. Well known issue and widely reported.

For the past 6 months the vehicle shows warnings regarding lane keeping assistance problems, cruise problems, braking problems,. The warning can show up in the middle of driving, or right at start. Sometimes they go away while driving.

In January 2026, my 2019 Honda Odyssey (approximately 110,000 miles) suddenly began displaying multiple simultaneous warning messages on the dashboard, including adaptive cruise control problem, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, auto high-beam problem, and a brake system warning light. These warnings do not clear and are present every time the vehicle is started. As a result, the following safety systems are completely disabled: forward collision avoidance / automatic emergency braking — the vehicle no longer detects or warns of potential frontal collisions auto high-beam headlights — no longer switch automatically adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist — inoperable road departure mitigation — inoperable in addition to disabling these safety systems, the persistent warning messages significantly obstruct the main instrument cluster display, making it difficult to see basic driving information including speed, fuel level, and odometer/mileage. This is a serious distraction and visibility concern in itself, separate from the loss of the safety systems. I have not yet had the vehicle professionally diagnosed, but based on extensive research into this issue — including reviewing the NHTSA complaint database — this appears to be a widespread and well-documented defect affecting 2018-2020 Honda Odyssey vehicles. The pattern matches hundreds of other complaints describing failure of the front-mounted multipurpose camera unit (mcu), frequently associated with diagnostic trouble code u3000-49 (multipurpose camera unit/millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure). Other owners report repair costs in the range of $1,500 to $2,600 for camera replacement and recalibration.
