Adaptive Cruise Control problems of the 2019 Honda Odyssey - part 2

Starting around 70,000 miles the front multipurpose camera continues to fail causing various warnings, including: - collision mitigation system problem - adaptive cruise control problem - lane keep assist problem - road departure mitigation system problem - auto high beam problem.

Several complaints can be seen across many different Honda forums that indicate several years including 2018 - 2023 of the Honda Odyssey are affected by similar issues when the front multi-purpose camera fails. Many have reported extreme heat when physically inspecting the camera unit. The zynq xa72030 chip manufacturer, amd, has listed known issues with this particular chip overheating either due to inadequate cooling (this is a passively cooled chip), poor pcb layout, unstable or undersized power supply, all which can result in thermal shutdown. At startup my vehicle dash immediately lit up with several warning indicating the disablement of multiple systems: lkas, eba, acc, collision mitigation, lane departure, automatic high-beam. In my case, physical inspection revealed the camera outer shell to be extremely hot to the touch necessitating a rag to reduce risk of burn while handling. It's interesting to see that Honda has issues a recall for the back camera which is not tied to many or any other systems at all due to a faulty cable, yet the front facing camera which directly affects lane keep assist, emergency brake assist, collision mitigation, lane departure assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam, has not received a recall despite the many complaints brought forth. It is clearly a defective component that affects many other systems which can lead to potential crashes under the right circumstances. I would urge Honda to issue a recall for all Odysseys experiencing multiple systems failure due to a defective multi-purpose camera.

Multipurpose camera unit/millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure diagnosed with u3000-49 error code in my 2019 Honda Odyssey. The problem has been confirmed by the Honda service center and reason stated is low heat resistance. Coat of repair is approx $2000 and this is purely due to low heat tolerance levels of the Honda component.

The acc is failing in the car. It is due to a faulty radar sensor located behind the rear view mirror that according to the dealership gets to hot it the sun and begins to deteriorate.

All of a sudden, I received multiple warnings that the forward collision warning system, lane keeping assistance system, automatic emergency braking system, adaptic cruise control, were not working. After looking for this part (front camera: 36160-thr-a11-m1), I see that it is very expensive to purchase and install. More importantly, I have come to learn that this part is failing on my 2019 Odysseys. I feel that the manufacturer should be held responsible if this is such a widespread problem.

All the warning lights shows up in the dash and the problems are diferent like bad battery or front monocular camera and all the futures assistence stop working like automatic brake cruise control. . Etc.

The front monocular camera assembly (Honda part number 36160-thr-a81) on my 2019 Honda Odyssey elite failed and is available for inspection upon request. When the failure occurs, the vehicle displays multiple warning messages including “collision mitigation system problem,” “adaptive cruise control problem,” “lane keeping assist problem,” “road departure mitigation system problem,” and “auto high beam problem. ” as a result, several driver-assist safety systems are disabled, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and road departure mitigation, which reduces the vehicle’s active safety features and increases the risk of a collision. The warnings appear simultaneously on the dashboard while driving and remain active until the vehicle is restarted. The condition has been reproduced multiple times and has been confirmed during diagnostic inspection by a service technician. The camera failures are very common and are a design defect. The design was changed in later years but there was not a recall for the 2019 models. This is a very expensive fix and should be covered by a recall.

6 months after purchasing our 2019 Honda Odyssey we got warning that popped up about lane departure, collision and cruise control not being able to work properly. When we took it in we were told it was our front camera and it needed to be replaced and recalibrated. It would come to almost $3000 total. It has started to work for a couple of hours 3 times now. We bought this vehicle for it's safety features for our large family, not sure we will get another Odyssey after our issues with this one.

All Honda sensing / adas safety warnings appear at the same time while driving or shortly after starting the vehicle. When this happens, all driver assistance systems are disabled, including: •adaptive cruise control (acc) •lane keeping assist (lkas) •collision mitigation braking system (cmbs) •road departure mitigation •automatic high beam when the failure occurs, the vehicle displays multiple safety system warnings and the entire driver assistance system shuts down, leaving the vehicle without any adas safety features.

Failure of camera unit leading to all safety systems requiring it becoming non operative. Well known issue and widely reported.

For the past 6 months the vehicle shows warnings regarding lane keeping assistance problems, cruise problems, braking problems,. The warning can show up in the middle of driving, or right at start. Sometimes they go away while driving.

In January 2026, my 2019 Honda Odyssey (approximately 110,000 miles) suddenly began displaying multiple simultaneous warning messages on the dashboard, including adaptive cruise control problem, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, auto high-beam problem, and a brake system warning light. These warnings do not clear and are present every time the vehicle is started. As a result, the following safety systems are completely disabled: forward collision avoidance / automatic emergency braking — the vehicle no longer detects or warns of potential frontal collisions auto high-beam headlights — no longer switch automatically adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist — inoperable road departure mitigation — inoperable in addition to disabling these safety systems, the persistent warning messages significantly obstruct the main instrument cluster display, making it difficult to see basic driving information including speed, fuel level, and odometer/mileage. This is a serious distraction and visibility concern in itself, separate from the loss of the safety systems. I have not yet had the vehicle professionally diagnosed, but based on extensive research into this issue — including reviewing the NHTSA complaint database — this appears to be a widespread and well-documented defect affecting 2018-2020 Honda Odyssey vehicles. The pattern matches hundreds of other complaints describing failure of the front-mounted multipurpose camera unit (mcu), frequently associated with diagnostic trouble code u3000-49 (multipurpose camera unit/millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure). Other owners report repair costs in the range of $1,500 to $2,600 for camera replacement and recalibration. This represents a serious safety concern: a single component failure disables the vehicle's primary collision-avoidance and driver-assistance systems simultaneously, while also obstructing basic instrument cluster vis.

We were backing up the vehicle and the children started playing around acting like they were pushing the vehicle. The rear camera showed they were on the back corners of the vehicle and I think also the rear camera. As I pulled away all the safety notifications started to appear - adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, high beam automation and a brake system error. The vehicle was taken to the dealership in richmond, kentucky who advised that the issue was the front camera that is in the rearview mirror mount area. I asked how this could be the front camera when everything happened in the rear of the vehicle. They advised they didn't know how but that is what their code readers are recognizing as the issue. They also stated that they have several individuals reporting this issue to them each month but there are no recalls due to this. This seems to be a safety defect as I cannot see how children playing around at the back of the vehicle affects the 'front' camera in turn affecting so many safety items.

Vehicle was driving normally down the highway then proceeded to shutdown without warning. Suddenly all of the trouble lights appeared indicatinging engine, transmission, hill assist etc cut on without warning. The van would not drive above 55 mph when turned back on.

In December 2025, my multi purpose camera failed on 2018 Honda Odyssey exl seemingly out of nowhere. There was no accident or incident that would have caused this to fail. With the failure of this system, my collision mitigation braking system, lane keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation and auto-high beams no longer work until this camera is fixed. The dealer has confirmed the failure and the repair is over $2,000 to fix by Honda. The component has not been inspected by police or insurance, just appletree Honda in asheville, nc. The warning lamps for all of the systems affected show up everytime I start the car.

Sensor issue that is causing safety concerns with cruise control, lane keep assistance. Forward collision issue, etc.

While driving with my family, my vehicle experienced a sudden and total failure of the front-facing multi-purpose camera mounted behind the windshield. This component is the primary sensor for the Honda sensing suite. The failure caused multiple critical safety systems to become inoperative simultaneously, including the collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), lane keeping assist (lkas), and adaptive cruise control (acc). These systems are essential for crash avoidance and driver assistance.

Suddenly, all the lane keeping assistance, auto beam headlights, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control came on. When I took it in for diagnosis, they claim that the camera assembly monocular no longer works. From searching forums, it appears this is a known issue. This is a safety issue and should be recalled.

Driving on the interstate with cruise control. All of a sudden the car braked (no one in front within eye shot) and cruise control stopped. I had to tap the brake manually then accelerator to get the car back under my control. Ever since then I get acc, lkas and other warnings when the car starts up. It seems like the front camera catastrophically failed while driving and almost caused the car to come to a complete stop on the interstate. It was very scary.

Started up the van and the following appears on the dash: acc problem collision mitigation problem lake keep assist problem auto high beam problem safety features unavailable when driving vehicle. In my research this issue has occurred with other owners of the vehicle as well.

After we took the car in all of a sudden randomly these warning lights will come on and my d for drive keeps flashing. Lkas, acc, collision avoidance, auto high beam problem and brake system warning. Sometimes some of them sometimes all of them. I read it’s a common problem but there hasn’t been a recall on it.

The camera for collision, cruise control, lane assistance and etc stopped working. Over $2000 to replace and not covered under warranty.

All of the alarm lights are going on at once, immediately when the car is turned on. This includes the collision mitigation system problem, adaptive cruise control system, lane keeping assist system (lkas), break system. I am told by my local garage that it is a Odyssey radar system failure, that probably originates in the camera or computer, but that they cannot fix it or get parts for it. It is unclear if these systems work or not.

Something is wrong with the camera and causing all warnings to go off.

Center camera has gone out. Millions of vans in the same position as me.

Vehicle has code u3000-49 in the mcu module. All vehicle safety systems have shut down and are no longer working until vehicle is repaired (lane assist, collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, road departure, etc. ) multiplex camera unit is on national back order with no eta available. Vehicle has 5 warning lights and multiple messages that keeping popping up on the cluster.

We began getting several warnings related to adaptive cruise control, collision detection, lane departure not working. This was due to the multipurpose camera internal failure. The camera had to be replaced by a authorized Honda dealer at a cost of $2,200. While the car was drivable no safety features related to the multipurpose camera were available. There were no indications of issues prior to the camera going bad. Due to the cost of replacement I would think that a large portion of drivers do not get the camera replaced and continue to drive the vehicle without use of the safety features provided.

Multipurpose camera failure, all advanced safety systems were affected (adaptive cruise, lane keep assist, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic warning, auto-dim headlights, etc) also, caused engine light, brake system and transmission system errors to appear but they were cleared by replacing the camera with no apparent damage to the actual systems. Replaced at a dealership for a total cost for parts and labor $2200+.

My 2019 Honda Odyssey ex-l has had sporadic errors happen: adaptive cruise control problem, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, blind spot info system problem. These errors have shown up before sporadically and the dealer, dch Honda of oxnard was notified April 27, 2023. They could not replicate and did not respond in writing that something was wrong. The errors went away on their own. 3 weeks ago, the errors showed up again, this time also including a transmission system problem warning. The car was taken to Honda in valencia and they ran a diagnostic and recommended the transmission be replaced or they would give us $2500 for the car. We opted to have a well reputed private transmission mechanic replace the transmission. After doing so the errors are still there. The transmission system problem error even showed up sporadically the very same day we picked the car up. There is no rhyme or reason to these errors other than perhaps a faulty windshield camera, which takes 5 minutes to replace but Honda wants to charge $2k. We also experienced the delayed shifting due to the poor 9 speed transmission and vcm design. It was quite scary to have a car full of children making a left turn on a busy road and not have the car kick into gear but rather slip. Installing a vcm tuner to bypass the computer shifting helped as well as not driving the car in econ. Honda knows they made a bad car and while Honda pilots and other models have had recalls related to the transmission, I am atill waiting for NHTSA to take action and include my lemon Odyssey as well. Replacing the transmission cost me over $7k and it may not have been necessary in the end if in fact these errors were related to the camera.

Front windshield camera failed and available for inspection if needed. All safety features tied to this camera are now disabled. Even basic cruise control is disabled. Problem has been check by a dealer with an estimated cost of $2600 to repair a simple camera module. Not inspected by police but was inspected by the manufactures dealer. I can get it inspected by the police if it helps. There are several warning lights that come up after starting the car. Even dinging when backing out of the driveway causing distractions. This is a known issue for this year Honda Odyssey van. There are lots of posts about it and how to try and fix it without the dealer charging you 10% of the cost of a 2025 model. For something designed for families this is not what I expected. This vehicles safety is impacted by the removal of these features.

Front monocular camera failed for no particular reason. Very unsafe.

The camera in the front windshield went out. It has caused none of my safety features to work. Honda is charging $2,500 for the part and labor. It's ridiculous how many people are having the same issue. My van didn't even have 52,000 miles. Honda needs to fix this issue.

The camera assembly monocular (part 36160-thr-a81) is shorted out causing multiple safety system failures from collision warning, lane departure, emergency braking, etc. Confirmed by local mechanic and then Honda dealer (merrillville, in). I still have the part, not yet replaced. Quoted $2k to replace. While driving multiple warning lamps went off and cruise control disengaged. No signs of issues prior to this occurrence. Now none of the safety features related to the adas system work.

My Honda Odyssey does phantom braking once in a while. There are no vehicle in front of it but it still brakes. One time it brake till full stop from 40 miles per hour.
