The vehicle was in reverse and started to accelerate uncontrollably in reverse. The car came to a stop after hitting a wall and a car. The uncontrolled acceleration happened when we went about 1 foot onto grass while in reverse. The emissions light was going on and off from time to time. We believe it was inspected by a Honda dealership at some point. The vehicle is involved with insurance at this point.
I am writing to open a formal complaint regarding a serious transmission defect in my 2019 Honda Odyssey (VIN: [xxx] ). My vehicle is currently exhibiting symptoms that directly match the 'transmission programming defect' documented in ongoing litigation, specifically symptoms: while accelerating produce rough and delayed shifting; sudden jerking, sudden, harsh accelerations and decelerations; and a sudden loss of power. I am aware of case no. Xxx (xxx v. American Honda motor CO. ) and case no. Xxx (xxx v. American Honda motor CO. ), which allege that the 9-speed zf 9hp transmission in my model year suffers from a design defect. These transmission failures create a significant safety hazard. Recently my van report code as transmission system problem the second time. We got mechanic checked and confirmed it is transmission issue. The first time when it happened, we drove the van on highway and suddenly it lose power and slow down by itself. There was no response even we applied gas. We went down highway and drove to a close-by repair shop. They replaced some part for us but it didn't resolve the issue. This time since the error comes, it won't speed up in lower speed except the speed goes beyond 40-50 miles plus. When we back the car, it responses slow or none. It comes with big noise also now. It definitely gets worst. The very common issue when you stop and start to move, it never responses from the beginning even we applied gas, even the passenger can feel the reluctance. It also happens when the van turns. We also had the experience when driving on the highway, it speeded automatically without driver applied the gas. It feels like someone pushing us behind. There was transmission control unit recall for 2018-2019 Honda Odyssey (touring/elite). Honda actually knows the issue but they didn't reveal this to their customer. This brings life threatening concerns on the highway. I hope this complaint can save lives and family information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(.
On April 13, 2026, I brought my 2019 Honda Odyssey to a Honda dealership in chicago, IL for a dealer-initiated recall service. The dealer contacted me and asked me to come in. Before the recall service, the vehicle had zero warning lights, zero error codes, and was operating completely normally. Immediately after the recall service was completed, the following warning lights appeared on the dashboard: brake system warning, hill start assist problem, vsa (vehicle stability assist) warning, and additional stability/steering system warnings. None of these warnings existed before the service. I returned to the dealership the same day. The service team cleared all error codes. However, within minutes of driving off the lot, all warning lights reappeared. This confirms the issue is persistent and not a one-time post-update self-check. I returned a second time. The service manager stated the warnings were not caused by the recall service and refused to investigate further. The dealer quoted $800 for diagnostic work. I also contacted american Honda by phone and was told they could not intervene. With the brake system and vsa warnings active, the anti-lock braking system and vehicle stability control may not be functioning properly. This puts me and other drivers at risk, especially in emergency braking situations and on slippery roads. This pattern of multiple safety warnings appearing immediately after recall service on 2019 Honda Odysseys has been reported by other owners. The vehicle and its warning lights are available for inspection upon request.
I am reporting a safety issue involving my 2019 Honda Odyssey transmission. Since early ownership, the vehicle has had ongoing hesitation and delayed response when accelerating, especially during gear shifts. Over time, this condition has worsened and now includes intermittent loss of power when pressing the accelerator, followed by sudden jerking or lurching forward. The most serious incident occurred recently when the vehicle unexpectedly shifted into park while moving in a parking lot, creating a dangerous and unsafe condition. Additionally, there have been multiple instances where the vehicle hesitated in intersections, creating a risk of collision due to lack of response when attempting to accelerate. Honda dealership technicians have acknowledged that these vehicles are known to have rough or problematic shifting, indicating this may be a broader issue. The final issue has resulted in the vehicle being towed to the dealership for a full evaluation.
Five days after getting back our car from the Honda dealership where they “fixed” the two recalls all warning lights came on and not turn off. Steering, breaking, accelerating all are difficult. There were no issues prior to the dealership “fixing” the recalls. The car was just at our mechanic for brakes and they check our engine, fluids etc every time. There were no prior issues.
Multipurpose camera unit/millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure diagnosed with u3000-49 error code in my 2019 Honda Odyssey. The problem has been confirmed by the Honda service center and reason stated is low heat resistance. Coat of repair is approx $2000 and this is purely due to low heat tolerance levels of the Honda component.
I am submitting this complaint to report a serious and recurring safety issue with my Honda Odyssey involving the camera system. Multiple warning messages and fault codes appeared on the dashboard simultaneously, including: -collision mitigation system problem -adaptive cruise control problem -lane keep assist problem -auto high beam problem these systems are all disabled. This failure occurred without warning and immediately compromised several critical driver-assistance and safety features. We have serviced at Honda dealerships and they said the only fix is a new $1500 camera (but the camera still works). Despite this, no recall has been issued. We have owned Honda vehicles for decades and never had these type of issues. A recall needs to be announced and owners allowed a fix at no charge. The transmission warning lights are also coming on intermittently and we paid to have Honda diagnose. The transmission is fine they said. Please help.
Today ( Dec 30, 2025) . My wife was driving my Honda Odyssey on highway 287 east NJ ( closed to livingston NJ ) . Here is the whole thing : the Odyssey suddenly stopped while my wife was downshifting. At that time, there was a car in front of our car at least 30 feet away. Once the car stopped almost completely. Some red warning letters were shown on the front dashboard. But since we all filled in in a big panic, no one saw what those words were. At that time, we felt the minivan vibrating. That is all we could recall since we were still trying to calm down. I am not sure it was still the same problem with the transmission we reported months ago. That is the whole store for today. And I also attached the last note I sent to you. Hi , to whom it might concern, to further the conversation, we had talked with the local Honda dealer, and they had test-driven it several times, but they insist there are no problems at all. They suggested that we replace the transmission fluid to improve the performance. We replaced it in the dealer store. But from the fall of this year, 2025. We feel the Odyssey has the same problems again : 1. The vehicle struggles to accelerate quickly when the accelerator is pressed. 2. The vehicle accelerates, but there is a noticeable jerking sensation. 3. After pressing the accelerator, the engine rpm increases significantly (the engine noise also grows louder), but the car itself does not accelerate immediately. It takes several seconds before any noticeable increase in speed occurs. I checked online I noticed that in some cases, some Odysseys stop on the highway and cause some injuries, which is terribly I also sent a note to Honda USA, and I got a reply, but it is useless. I do not know what I can do. I saw there was some recall (due to the transmission) on othe dyssey touring model and elite models, but I wonder if there is any recall on my Odyssey ex-l model.
Please failure of windshield camera 36160 thr a11 has malfunctioned idas.
Vehicle has hesitation when resuming forward drive after sitting at a light or taking left hand turn. The hesitation causes the feeling of not moving at the amount of speed the car should when starting to regain driving motion, then suddenly slams into gear and proceeds forward with a too quick acceleration to adjust to the amount of pressure applied to gas, causing the driver to have to hit brakes before hitting car infront of them.
The impact on the car is we no longer have cruse control (basic feature) and every time we turn on the car we see many warning lights turn on. Some other feature that does not work is lane assist does not work. According to what shows up to on the dashboard there are problems for "road departure mitigation system problem", "auto high-beam problem", "adaptive cruse control problem", "lane keeping assist problem", "collision mitigation system problem", "break system", "left sliding door problem" a quick search on the web indicate this a common issue with Honda car (including Acura). [xxx] another problem we're seeing is driver side sliding door does not close correctly or open correctly. We have since stop using this door since it's very dangerous for our kids since while opening, it would not open all the way and close on the kids. Similar issues [xxx] these two things are broken under 65000 miles and less than 6 years owning the car. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
A number of warnings popped adaptive cruise control problem, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation problem, and auto high beam problem. Only light that is on is my brake system light. I read a bit on some forums and it is likely to be the the front camera. Apparently the multipurpose camera unit (mcu) fails often on these vehicles, causing these errors and the cruise control to stop working.
Since 2023 around August I felt lose of power while driving but I thought its because of the gasoline I used so I didnt care much , thereafter this loss of power problem persisted since then so I took to the dealership at battison Honda at nortwest expressway in oklahoma , but they said my vehicle has no issue , but this loss of power issue was not resolved but on 1st week of February I was about to crash on road due to loss of power so took the vehicle to dealership and they said it was due to the trasmission issue and I replaced it as it passed the 5 year powertrain warranty dealership said I have to pay it full , I fight with them for 2 weeks atlast they said I have to pay 5000 dollar . So I paid the amont and they said the transmission has replaced , but still I have some hesitation while accelerate and the same issue of loss of power during acceleration happening , can you please help me to resolve this issue as its not only about money but due to safety concerns , I dont want to deal with trhat dealership anymore . Please help me during this difficult situation . Thank you .
I am reporting a serious safety concern regarding my 2019 Honda Odyssey, which poses a risk to me and my family. The issue is intermittent, making it difficult for the dealership to replicate. The problem began when the collision mitigation system warning light flashed, indicating a system malfunction. This was followed by multiple warning lights appearing on the dashboard. At times, the entire dashboard and screen go blank, and all gauges shut off while I am driving on both city streets and highways-though the engine remains on. Additionally, I have experienced the following issues: the steering wheel stiffness when making turns, the vehicle hesitates to accelerate after being at a stop. In December 2023, I took the vehicle to a Honda dealership, where they recommended replacing the front camera/sensor (behind the rear mirror) at a cost of over $1,500. 00. I proceeded with the repair in December 2023. However, the same issues returned in January 2025. This defect poses a severe safety risk, especially when driving at higher speeds or in traffic. Since the dealership has been unable to diagnose the issue due to its sporadic nature, I am requesting an investigation into this matter to determine if other owners are experiencing similar safety risks. Thank you for your time and attention to this issue.
Since purchasing the vehicle, I've had several incidents where my safety and those inside my vehicle are compromised due to the loss of drive power and stalling of the vehicle while driving. I've complained to the dealer for which they continued to assure me that there was no problem detected during the safety inspections. Recently I received the recall notice to replace the fuel pump module which was causing the issues that I've experienced with my vehicle. I took my vehicle to the dealer on 11/11/24, where it was serviced to correct the recall issues. However, I continue to have the same problems of stalling and loss of drive power when driving the vehicle. There are no warning lamps or other issues detected by the dealer according to their safety inspection. My safety and the safety of my passengers, continues to be put at risk. While driving in the highway it is especially dangerous because when I'm changing lanes the vehicle will not accelerate putting me at a risk for a collision. When I am turning left into a street, I feel that it looses power and am stalled in the middle on the street risking yet again a collision. These incidents occur at least 90 percent of the time when driving.
See attached document for complaint.
Out of nowhere. . . A bunch of warnings lights have appeared and disabled a lot of the safety features on the vehicle. Adaptive cruise control problem lane keeping assist problem collision mitigation system problem road departure mitigation system problem auto high beam problem the car drives fine but the safety features do not work, along with the cruise control. This is a known issue for Honda and there needs to be a recall before someone get hurt!!!.
My family and I had just gotten on the parkway and the car wouldn't downshift. I noticed the "drive" light kept blinking and then the dashboard lit up with so many different warning messages. "emmissions system problem" was the message that stayed on. All of a sudden the car started shifting on its own into neutral, while we were on the parkway. Thank goodness there was an exit approaching and we were able to get off before we were injured in an accident. I have been having battery issues ever since I got this car. Even when it was brand new, sometimes it just wouldn't start. If I wait a little bit, eventually it starts, but I have already had to replace a battery at 30,000 miles because of this. It has been happening again, but when I bring it to Honda and my mechanic, the battery is normal. After doing research, it appears there was a recall on the 2019 Honda Odyssey with an issue relating to the battery connection that causes that transmission to reboot while driving and shift on its own. Honda claims my car was not part of this recall, but this is exactly what happened to me, and I have a 2019 Odyssey. They have had my car for three weeks now and can't find answers to fix the problem. When I first brought the car in, they said the technician was finding "a lot of stuff. " fast forward two weeks, and they called to say it's not happening anymore so they are ruling it an "intermittent issue" and to come get the car (not fixed). I told them I do not feel safe with my children in that car. I need answers. I contacted Honda corporate who said that Honda told them the transmission fluid was the reason, and to start with that and see if it happens again. I asked them about that recall and they said "well your car doesn't come up with it. " is it just a coincidence that the same thing has been happening to my car? I asked if they were able to find out why the car doesn't start "intermittently" and they said, "no, it hasn't happened while here. ".
The whole adas system went down and a brake system light came on. Van isn’t in warranty but isn’t old either. Just out of warranty. Lots of safety items disabled because of a faulty camera that’s too expensive to replace on our own, so now we operate a Mini-van without all the extra safety items that adas gives you. Guess adas was never intended to improve safety if it only works for a couple of years.
Trying to drive across a road and the van started and stopped and just went again and I almost got tboned.
My 2019 Honda Odyssey was involved in a total loss car accident recently on Aug 20 2024. The cause was delayed acceleration due to a fuel pump recall by Honda motor corp from Dec 2023; and to date they have failed and neglected to provide the part to repair. For over a year I have experienced delayed acceleration issues with this auto. I purchased this auto new from the local dealer in 2019 and have constantly experienced, reported and paid thousands to repair and address transmission and delayed acceleration issues. Now this resulted in my inability to accelerate from a stop position resulting in another vehicle directly crashing into mine. Researching similar issues reported to the national highway traffic safety administration it appears I'm not alone. In our case - we were in fact "t-boned".

We have had repeated incidents with the vehicle since late 2023. The vehicle begins to jump and a long and seemingly random list of dashboard indicators turns on. When we first sent the vehicle in for diagnosis they could not replicate the issue, dealt with a seatbelt related safety recall and "reset the computer". This decreased the incidence of the issue temporarily. All routine maintenance has been performed on the vehicle. The battery has been replaced twice because that was the best guess of what was causing the previous issue. A few months later, the issue started again. Random indicators, sometimes power steering, sometimes temperature gauge, sometimes othes lights in rapid succession. We again took the vehicle to dealership of purchase and they were unable to replicate the issue (and unable to deal with a fuel pump issue with a multi-month backlog for the part). Finally, while driving on the interstate today the vehicle began to lurch repeatedly and the random list of seemingly every indicator lit up again (see photo), including the power steering failing. The vehicle is completely inoperable and was towed to the dealership.
Failure of multi purpose camera resulting in inoperable adaptive cruise control (or any cruise control), lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, collision mitigation braking system.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while at a stop sign, the accelerator pedal was applied, however, the vehicle did not move forward. The contact attempted to use the accelerator pedal several times before the vehicle moved. The contact was notified of the NHTSA campaign number: 23v858000 (fuel system, gasoline). The dealer was contacted and the contact was informed that the parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.
Driving on highway suddenly multiple warnings ?? lights on (about 10) warnings lights like check engine, transmission system, power steering system brake assist ,holding brake system, line departure assistance, hill assistance, emission system, acc system, vas system, blind spot assistance and lack of power hitting gas (accelerate pedal) no response car slow down by itself becomes 20mph on 55mph highway very scary this happened four times in one month.
In early December 2023, while driving, I experienced a sudden malfunction in my lkas system, receiving a notification that it had stopped working without any prior indications. In response, I promptly pulled over, turned off the vehicle, and restarted it, hoping to clear any error messages. Unfortunately, the issue persisted. Subsequently, I took my vehicle to the Honda service center, where I was informed that the front camera was malfunctioning, triggering multiple error messages such as collision system problems, auto high beam issues, and adaptive cruise control malfunctions—all of which rendered these safety features inoperable. The service center clarified that, while it was deemed safe to drive the vehicle, the automatic braking system and front camera features were unavailable, and any necessary repairs would be at my expense. The paperwork provided indicated the discovery of dtc u3000-49, citing a multipurpose camera unit/millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure. Additionally, beyond the lkas system issue, I have repeatedly encountered difficulties with my vehicle's acceleration. Notably, there is a struggle to accelerate from a complete stop, and a significant delay in acceleration occurs when removing my foot from the gas pedal, especially in the middle of intersections. This delay has resulted in near collisions, with other vehicles honking and, at times, coming dangerously close to colliding with my vehicle. Despite reporting this ongoing acceleration problem to the dealer multiple times, the issue persists and has worsened over time. This comprehensive incident report aims to document and address the technical malfunctions in my vehicle, emphasizing the urgent need for a thorough examination and resolution of these safety concerns.
The vehicle listed above with VIN 5fnrl6h73kb057719 often does not takeoff properly. When pressing the gas, it lunges forward as though it did not receive any gas to the engine or the engine stalls, or does not operate correctly. This issue has been addressed with several mechanics, and no pertinent ruling has ever been established as to why the vehicle does this.
This vehicle decelerates or loses power while driving . This has happened 3x. Also vehicle is lag in accelerating from take off, my fear of getting t-boned if it stalls most recent date below. Has been taken to dealer numerous times.
For over a year, when ever I press on the gas to accelarate the car stalls and this is very dangerous as it could cause an accident. It is not related to being low on gas as it happens even the the tank if full. The most recent issue happened yesterday. I was on a stop sign, and when I pressed the gas to go, the car moved forward a bit and then it stalled, leaving me on the middle of the intersection about to get hit by upcoming traffic. I was able to press the gas a couple of time and get car moving, but I was about to get him. A few weeks ago, again I had a similar situation. I was at a red light, and when I pressed on the gas, my car stall and wouldnt move, causing everyone behind me to honk their horns. I once again then to press the gas a couple of time for car to move. In addition, a few weeks ago, I was yieling to enter a highway, and when I press the gass to speed up and enter it, the car once again stall and was about to get hit by upcoming traffic. The issue is not related to gas tank, as I just recently had that replace after it suddently rip. Not sure how that happen, maybe another think to consider looking into. When I advised the dealership of such, they said stalling is normal due to type of engine. There is nothing normal of putting your life at risk. This is an accident waiting to happen.
On multiple occasions when traveling at a low rate of speed when the accelerator is pushed there is no response for up to 2-3 seconds then the car suddenly accelerates forcefully because the gas pedal has been pushed to the floor with no response. It has mostly happened when we are making a left hand turn and have slowed. Due to the seconds of delay we have been almost t boned and are hesitant to make a left hand turn if there is any traffic because we don't know if the car will immediately accelerate or if it will hesitate. We are able to reproduce it to some extent by accelerating the car to about 5-7 mph, letting off the accelerator and then reapplying pressure to the accelerator. We took the car to the dealership and they reproduced it and contacted the Honda techline who told them it is normal. It has been scary for myself and my wife and does not feel normal for the car to have a complete delay in response and then over respond.
Driving down the road and vehicle suddenly switches out of gear into neutral. Very dangerous situation. Another time we’re driving at 45mph and the vehicle suddenly starts flashing 3 error codes and decelerating. We have to continue to drive 45 mph with the car sounding terrible all the way home. Once home the vehicle somehow resets itself and all of the flashing lights turn off.
When I start the engine, I switch the gear from parking to drive mode and give it a gas, but the gas doesn't reach the engine the way it should, then after it starts running super fast even if I barely give it a gas, the timing belt is now making a cranking noise. Dealers told me it was an engine problem inside the engine. The dealer mechanic are even very surprised why this happened and after again I took it to other mechanics, and they told me the same thing and also they told me about the recall and after I've seen a recall on Honda Odysseys with different vins, but my car has the same problem (NHTSA campaign number 23v-751). This issue is a manufacturer's issue and my car has 118,000 miles on it. I just bought it six months ago for $37,000 and it's out of warranty. I need help. All the mechanics suggested it has a manufacturing problem including the dealer mechanics, also they advise me to this page to report and get some help.
When stopped at an intersection, waiting to turn left, vehicle sometimes will not accelerate when gas pedal is pushed. If I do a very light acceleration, then let go of the gas, then try to accelerate, it is as if the transmission is in 5 gear or something. After a 3-4 second lag, the vehicle will then seemingly find 1st gear, and will accelerate. As you can imagine this is extremely dangerous if making a left turn and cars are speeding towards me. I push the gas pedal, but the car does not move, meanwhile cars are getting closer to me, and cars behind me are honking. I have taken the car to Honda dealer three times for this issue. Each time they do something to "fix" the problem, and each time, the problem persists.
I have a 2019 Odyssey elite and the following lights come adaptive cruise control problem (acc); auto high-beam problem (a); road departure mitigation system problem; collision mitigation system problem; lane keeping assist problem (lkas); brake system lights. My problem is intermittent. I can make it go away most of the time by pouring water over the camera or spraying it from the windshield wipers fluid, then turning the car off and back on. That works sometimes. This makes me think it may be due to heat as the windshield (especially the black web lines around the camera) gets very hot. I also have noticed that at night or in cooler parts of the day the lights do not come on most of the time (have not kept a log of problem yet). One problem could be heat but cooling off with water does not always work. In that case, I lightly tap the camera case with a small rubber hammer (it is locate in front of my rear view mirror), turn the car off and back on, and the lights go out. Water plus tapping works and sometimes tapping alone works. This makes me theorize that the weather (heat in my case but I have seen other say it is cold due to snow) causes the cable/wiring within the camera to loosen (meaning weather [heat or cold] sensitive) cable connectors. Thus cooling with water and or light tapping fixes the problem until the next episode occurs. Who knows it could even be the windshield glass. As I said earlier, there is a black webbing type glass etching around the camera. Some say it is the battery, but I have yet to see a post where changing the battery fixed the problem. When the lights are off, all safety features (mitigation, adaptive cruise control, cruise control) work. I assume auto high beam and brakes system will work also. Forgot to add that when I turn the car off and back on, I have to press enter on the steering wheel a couple of times before the lights go off.
