When I try to accelerate it won’t go sometimes! it hesitates until it just blasts off. Emissions system problem.
The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.
While driving, if I don't make a complete stop (say at a yield sign), and I accelerate, there is a 1-2 second gap between when I press the pedal and the van actually goes. This can happen while fully stopped, while yielding, or even while getting onto the highway. Taking it back to the dealer has yielded only firmware upgrades to the software and recommending a $400 transmission flush. This happens more frequently while in economy mode, but also happens in sport mode. This has been going on for about a year now. The dealer has stated there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, but if I ever have to suddenly accelerate it could mean I will get into an accident.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while at an intersection making a left turn the vehicle wouldn't move, the contact had to wait about 3-4 seconds and push on the gas a little then the vehicle would independently accelerate. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,186.
My 2019 Honda Odyssey regularly hesitates from the stopped position or when quick acceleration is needed on the highway. This causes a safety hazard when making turns into traffic because I am not able to accelerate for approximately 1 second before I am able to increase speed. It is a known mechanical defect with Honda and they do not currently have a resolution. I reported this problem to my dealership and was told that this is "just how the Honda 9-speed transmissions are designed" and there is no fix. Not only does this cause performance issues, there have been several close calls when I have made a turn into traffic and when I have had to accelerate to make a lane change on the freeway.
My vehicle has a problem with delayed acceleration and excessive acceleration. When releasing my foot from the brake pedal then pressing on the gas pedal, the vehicle doesn't always accelerate when the gas pedal is pressed. There seems to be a few second delay and then all of a sudden there is too much acceleration. We've reported this to our dealership several times. Several of their employees told us that this is just the nature of the 9 speed transmission. We've also reported it to Honda's corporate service and they didn't acknowledge any problems. They were plenty nice but lacked what I felt was the drive to help. Their time between my report and their follow up was terribly long. There are multiple reports of the same exact thing online so I know it's not exclusive to us. This is an absolute safety issue as the delayed acceleration can cause us to get hit from behind and also mess up our timing as we move along w/ traffic. The excessive acceleration is a safety issue in that it may cause us to hit a vehicle or something in front of us as the vehicle jolts. Overall, the vehicle is fantastic other than this issue. I've told the dealer and Honda as such. This has gone on since owning the vehicle and even this morning, 4/5/2022, with approximately 53k miles on the vehicle. Fortunately, we haven't had any accidents and I hope there is never an accident with us or any other 2019 Honda Odyssey owners. . . . Thus my reason for sending this message. Thank you for your consideration.
Every time I accelerate while I am turning, the car stalls for a second or two. And often when I attempt to accelerate in general, such as when I first turn on the engine to begin driving, the car stalls. I took it to Honda twice, and was told "it's a known issue with these models".
While in motion on the highway the speedometer and center infotainment system crashed, went black, and began to restart shortly after. While rebooting the car shifted into neutral and there was no warning of the gear changing. The car was able to get off the highway, and had to be towed per the dealers recommendation for safety.
The vehicle automatically throttles with the speed going down and back to normal.
Driving on an expressway, the cars in front of me are slowing down, my car's collision mitigation braking system sends a visual alert with the "brake" signal coming on and I feel the brakes engaging, simultaneously I slam on the brakes, and while there was still distance between the car in front of mine and mine, I am not able to brake. The brakes seem confused, and the impact is so strong that my head almost reaches the steering wheel. The seatbelt is locked in place and leaves me sore. Once I am able to get ahold that I was just in a car accident, I am unable to lower the windows, the car is able to call for help on it's own and does so although nothing comes of that in that no help comes. Once I get off the van I notice the plate is knocked and on the floor, the bumper has fallen off and the hood and grill are curled up pictures attached. The car seems to be leaking a fluid and we are unable to start it. I believe that because we (the car and I) simultaneously having the system engaging on it's own and my slamming on the brakes prevented the brakes from working. The impact was with such velocity that it's impossible to have had them working properly. This is an important safety concern if the driver and the system are unable to work together or too confusing for the system. Interestingly, the air bags didn't deploy! additionally, the initial scan by the auto body shop had many alerts come up but the ones I would like to highlight are abs - ecm failure and integrated driver support system - brake actuator malfunction, attaching that scan too.
Hi there- I am currently live in nc. I have issue with my Honda oddysey. I seen that you had filed case with american Honda with issues I am having currently. Van has shut off while being driven, transmission jumps constantly at 24 mph, radio goes in and out constantly- have no audio 90% of the time, navigation rarely works, car play rarely works, bluetooth drops phone connection consistently, have had rear camera freeze multiple times.
My van regularly hesitates from the stopped position. This often causes a safety hazard when turning right into traffic or making a left turn because I am not able to accelerate for several seconds and the vehicle feels as if it is stalling out. It is a known mechanical defect with Honda and they do not currently have a resolution. When reported, I was told the mechanical system defects to switching through all the gears before accelerating, causing the delay. I have brought the car into the dealership twice regarding the issue and have been dealing with Honda headquarters with no resolution. Not only does this cause performance issues, there have been several close calls when I have made a left turn/ right turn into traffic and the vehicle hesitates for a few seconds.
On December 19, 2018, the day after we had the maintenance and brake fluid repaired, we were driving the car on a freeway. Suddenly, the car shook wildly for a moment and thick white smoke started to issue from the car. To make matters worse, the accelerator did not work, so our car could only reach speed up to 25 miles per hour, much slower than the other cars honking and racing past us on the freeway. We barely made it to the next exit, where we had to park at the nearest gas station to check what was going on. We were under extreme danger and stress from this incident as it happened in the middle of the road and we were extremely close to colliding with other cars. Honestly, no words can dare to express the fear and dread of imminent death we experienced that time. We thought we were going to be crushed to death at that moment. After a few minutes in a nearby parking lot, when we started the car again, the check engine light was gone, and the accelerator started working normally. However, although the problem has seemed to have gone away for now, we do not know when or where it may occur again. It scares us that the car seems so innocently normal again.
(event 1 and 2 happened 10 minutes apart) our new van shifts in the park while driving at highway speeds (62 mph). We took it to freeway Honda the first time and they were unable to render any errors, so the vehicle was returned to us. (event 3) occurred on 12/16/2018 around 11:42 am. We were driving near the 405/5 y merge and the car suddenly shifted into park. We were able to capture this event on video and here is the direct youtube link to the event: https://youtu. Be/kiztkmoyi-m . Car is currently at the Honda dealer where they stated they will replace the transmission. There is also a "crash mitigation error" that appears in our instrument panel from time to time that the dealership is unable to reproduce and cannot fix.
Around late August or early September of 2018, we started experiencing some problems with the accelerator. One of our office workers had two accidents while parking due to the malfunction of the accelerator. The accelerator sank down subtly as if she was pressing against sort of a sponge when she steered the wheel at a certain angle. As a result, the car crashed against the wall and we had no choice but to repair the bumper. Originally, we thought the parking accident was due to lack of driving experience of our office worker and paid the full repair cost ourselves. However, a senior executive at my company with 27 years of accident-free driving experiences also claimed multiple times to have experienced the same sponge-like sinking in the accelerator while driving the car.
