Adaptive Cruise Control problems of the 2020 Honda Odyssey - part 1

Camera failed after 65,000 miles and is a known problem out there with thousands of these requiring a $2000 dealer replacement.

Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist system problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem and auto high beam problem.

I am the original owner of a 2020 Honda Odyssey elite. On July 7, 2026, at approximately 76,127 miles, five safety-system warning messages suddenly appeared simultaneously upon startup: adaptive cruise control problem, auto high beam problem, road departure mitigation system problem, collision mitigation system problem, and lane keeping assist system problem. Restarting the vehicle several times did not clear the warnings. After the vehicle sat for approximately 30 minutes, the warnings disappeared. On July 8, after driving approximately 400 miles home, I parked the vehicle outside in approximately 110-degree heat. About two hours later, upon startup, the same five warnings reappeared simultaneously, along with the brake system warning light. An authorized Honda dealer confirmed the multiple warnings and performed a dtc scan. Code u3000-49 was stored, indicating an internal failure of the multipurpose camera located behind the rearview mirror. Further testing confirmed that camera replacement was required. The dealer replaced and recalibrated the multipurpose camera at 76,567 miles. The repair cost was $1,631. 80 for parts and $717. 50 for labor, totaling $2,349. 30. I am concerned that failure of a single internal camera component simultaneously disabled multiple driver-assistance and collision-avoidance safety systems. I believe NHTSA should investigate whether multipurpose camera failures associated with dtc u3000-49 represent a recurring safety defect in 2020 Honda Odyssey vehicles.

On 5/28/26, I went to get my van checked at a repair shop through my healthcar warranty and I was told that I needed a system update on my brake system/adas/lkas/acc systems. All the lights beeped and were lighting up on my dash. It would go on and off from time to time, usually when it was more hot out. They told me to take to dealership and they need to do a system update and should fix no additional charge. I took it to the Honda dealership service department on 7/6/26 and was told it is the multipurpose camera has an internal failure and it would cost me $2,443. 00 to repair it, plus I had to pay them a diagnostic fee. I have researched and been told by other repairs shops that this problem has been occurring often and it seems due to heat is the reason this happens.

My van is suddenly giving me warnings that include collision mitigation, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, brake hold system, and traffic sign recognition. My safety is at risk if the front camera system is not working/faulty. I was unaware of the problem and had my cruise control on when it just went off and there were warnings popping up on dashboard. There was a class action lawsuit filed against Honda on 7/2/26 in CA for certain Honda vehicles. I have had my van put on a computer that has given us the error code and is a front camera failure. The issue first appeared on 7/2/26. It will suddenly start flashing warnings when I’m driving. It will also flash warnings right after I start the vehicle.

I purchased my 2020 Honda Odyssey brand new in California. On 6/27/2026 upon starting the vehicle up in the morning there was a myriad of warning messages that came up on the cluster for the first time out of the blue. The battery was replaced a few months ago with a new one and no mil lights were illuminated prior to this morning. Now an amber brake system tell tail symbol is illuminated on the cluster. 1: adaptive c. C. Problem 2: auto high beam problem 3: collision mitigation braking system problem 4: lane keep assist problem 5: road depature mitigation problem the vehicle still is able to run and drive, but none of these standard vehicle safety features are working as expected. I can't even apply cruise control now. On each key cycle the error messages come back up, and when driving they also stay in the center of the cluster and make annoying dinging sounds. I disconnected the battery ground cable from the chassis for 15 min and reconnected, but the errors come back on instantly once the van is started up. With my obd scanner, there is a code being set u0104-00. I have not paid yet to have the van inspected formally by the dealer.

The front-facing Honda sensing camera in my 2020 Honda Odyssey overheated in a 90deg climate. This triggered multiple dashboard warning lights: adaptive cruise control (acc) problem, lane keeping assist system (lkas) problem, road departure mitigation (rdm) system problem, collision mitigation braking system (cmbs) problem, brake system problem, and auto high-beam problem. The Honda dealership quoted me $1850 to fix it and they said it was a well-known error. There were no issues with my car prior to this problem. I keep up with all routine maintenance, oil changes, timing belt and water pump replacements, etc. Not only are these safety features inoperable, but these warning lights are very distracting to the driver, but worse than that- I would be unaware of other system failures since I have so many warnings displayed.

Front camera default and required replacement totaling $2,400. 00 in repair costs. This is a safety issue as the adaptive cruise control, front collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning were all disabled due to the front camera malfunction. This should be a recall by Honda as it seems to be a common mechanical failure in Honda Odysseys from 2018-2022.

All advanced driver safety features failed. It appears there is an issue with the front camera.

Vehicle suddenly starts having multiple lights and warnings come up such as road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise problem, collision mitigation, auto high beam, etc. Reading online it seems multiple people with Honda oddysey are experiencing the same issues.

5 alerts came on the dash stating lane keeping assist problem , collision mitigation problem , auto high beam problem, forward collision problem and brake system warning. All safety features on my vehicle have failed. I.

We went to a car wash and that day after the car wash we started getting 6+ error message codes for adaptive cruise control, lane assist, lane departure, blind spot, rear cross traffic, etc. Our tech that we took it to says they have seen this happen nation wide on these vehicles.

With no preceding accident or damage, the vehicle suddenly received multiple warning lights on the dash, including: "adaptive cruise control problem", "lane keeping assist problem", "collision mitigation system problem", "road departure mitigation system problem", ""auto high-beam problem", and a brake system caution light. I attempted turning the car off and back on again, disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes, and reconnecting, and checked all fuses that were accessible. It appears the problem is related to the multipurpose camera (Honda part #: 36160-thr-a91-m1). This appears to be a common issue. This manufacturing defect primarily effects safety systems and is common on a car that is primarily marketed towards the transport of families and children. I find this defect to be unacceptable and strongly believe that it warrants a recall by the manufacturer.

Front camera is bad or faulty, triggering all adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, auto high beam etc errors on dashboard, rendering the car not able to start or die in the middle of the road/traffic when the engine goes into idle mode while stopping at red lights. My odessey has over 111k miles when these issues start showing, but lots of people report experiencing same issue with even with their newer odessey. It doesn’t feel right why Honda installed cheap cameras especially when it plays a crucial role involves safety of the car and the driver.

The vehicle suddenly displayed warning signs for cruise control, lane assist, forward collision control and more on the dashboard. These features no longer work and warnings turn on every time we start the car and remain on the whole time.

My vehicle started cycling between all of the check engine types of lights to include the emissions system. When taking it to my local Honda dealership, they determined that it was my front camera (multi-purpose camera internal failure). After some research and speaking to the service department, this major safety failure has been happening to many other Honda vehicles. The emissions system failure seems to also be a faulty design. I feel that the camera system failure could have resulted in an accident or major injury. And of no fault of my own. My vehicle is regularly maintained and is merely 6 years old. I should not be replacing a mayor system like the front camera every 6 years.

The multipurpose camera failed. Searches online and discussion with the dealers show this is a common problem. Result is shutdown of collision mitigation systems, blind spot indicators, lane divergence system, auto high beam, etc.

The radar is broken leaving all adas unusable in addition to no option to use cruise control.

I believe the forward facing camera is having electrical issues which is causing the vehicle not to engage lane departure, traction control, lane keeping assistance, emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, ac intermittently blowing warm and cold. There are four or five lights on the dash about this.

System failure for all of the safety-related assistants. Works intermittently, but mostly indicates failure.

Getting error code for safety sinsing. Lane keep assist, collision mitigation system and now transmission system. Forward facing camera is cause of issue.

The adas system doesn't work. The forward collision system, adaptive speed control, and lane keeping assist have all shown malfunction errors and no longer work.

The front windshield camera completely failed. No longer have emergency braking. Honda said known problem and want to charge $2000 to fix.

System is starting to fail by alerting me to clean windshield. Windshield and camera have been cleaned, still getting multiple warnings that system is shutting off safety features during my commutes.

Multiple warning lights, all for the safety system: acc, automatic emergency braking, etc. I am told by the dealer that this is due to a faulty forward camera. Looking at the NHTSA site and other forums, this is a very common issue and should be addressed.

I am submitting this complaint to report a serious safety defect involving my Honda Odyssey equipped with Honda sensing technology. During normal operation and without any accident, impact, windshield damage, repair, or environmental event, all Honda sensing safety systems suddenly and simultaneously stopped working. The disabled systems include collision mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation, forward collision warning, and related camera- and radar-based features. Multiple warning messages appeared, and the vehicle effectively lost all advanced driver-assistance and collision-avoidance capabilities at once. This occurred without warning and without any action on my part. This failure is extremely concerning because Honda sensing features are marketed and relied upon as critical active safety systems intended to help prevent or mitigate crashes. A sudden, total loss of these systems materially reduces vehicle safety and places occupants and other road users at increased risk. A safety system that can fail entirely and unexpectedly—absent any triggering event—indicates a potential systemic defect, not routine maintenance or wear. I am concerned this issue may affect other Honda vehicles equipped with Honda sensing and may be related to a common failure in cameras, radar units, software, or vehicle electronics. I respectfully request that NHTSA review and log this complaint, investigate this failure pattern, and determine whether a defect investigation, service bulletin, or recall is warranted in the interest of public safety. Went to pull into parking lot, adas system starting going crazy. Throws transmission malfunction error. Headlights won’t work - they turn on and off or go extremely dim. Van keeps jerking and losing power. Code reader showed u3000-49 electronic failure. Van drove normal, no issues until this code popped up. Issue started 01/08/2026.

The front-facing camera stopped working, and all associated adas systems no longer functioned (adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance). Several errors needed to be cleared every time the vehicle was started. Our Honda dealership determined that it was a failed multipurpose camera (code u3000-49), and that the entire camera unit needed to be replaced and re-calibrated.

My multi-purpose camera system has gone bad after only 5 years. Collision mitigation, cruise control, brake system, lane keep assist, among other safety features are failing because of this.

In December, out of the blue suddenly had rotating list of warning on dash panel (lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system, departure mitigation system problem, auto high-beam problem, adaptive cruise control problem) plus brake warning system light is on constantly and brake hold not working. At first this was intermittent but now on constantly when starting and driving car. Only 55k miles on my Odyssey. Dealer said he had 3 of these in the last three months. Said it was multi purpose front camera failure. Cost over $1500. Since huge safety issue putting not only my family but other cars/people at risk, we are paying to repair, however we just found hundreds of people complaining about this same issue. This should be a Honda recall. We did nothing wrong to cause this safety issue and this part should not fail in 5 years. I don't have the final invoice yet but I can upload later if required.

The multipurpose camera unit has failed resulting in loss of adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic braking and other features related to the mcu. There are approximately 6 warnings when starting the car of features not working, and 3 lights that remain lit on the dash including "brake system". This is the second time this issue has arise. The first time was replaced by the dealer under warranty.

The warning messages keep popping up regarding the lane assist system, adaptive cruise control not working and dealer states that the camera needs replacement and this is common issue for most Honda cars so should be recalled.

The front camera that regulates the adaptive cruise control failed. Now it does not allow for any of the safety features to work. I’ve gone on multiple Honda forums and a lot of people have the same issue.

Several warnings lights appeared on the dash at the same time regarding the accident safety features including: adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and lane keep assistance. None are currently working. The warning randomly appeared. It's associated with the camera behind the windshield and the radar detection behind the front emblem. Problem confirmed by dealer. Components have not been evaluated by anyone.

The camera controlling many systems regarding safety failed and caused numerous warning lights to come on. Complete camera replacement was necessary.
