System failure for all of the safety-related assistants. Works intermittently, but mostly indicates failure.
Getting error code for safety sinsing. Lane keep assist, collision mitigation system and now transmission system. Forward facing camera is cause of issue.
System is starting to fail by alerting me to clean windshield. Windshield and camera have been cleaned, still getting multiple warnings that system is shutting off safety features during my commutes.
After researching I find it to be a sensor in the windshield is a common problem.
All of my adas systems were disabled due to a water leak. The repair required the dealership to hire a "leak doctor" and then replace a module in the rear tailgate. My vehicle showed an alert on the dash that each of the adas features were disabled, auto high beams were disabled, and I could not turn the vehicle off by pushing the start/stop button once, I had to use a procedure that forced the vehicle to shut down. My interior dash lights flickered, I'm not sure if the headlights worked. As the interior dried out, the flickering occurred less frequently. I was able to drive the vehicle to a Honda dealer for repairs.
The front camera that regulates the adaptive cruise control failed. Now it does not allow for any of the safety features to work. I’ve gone on multiple Honda forums and a lot of people have the same issue.
On Sunday 9/28/2025 I started up my vehicle and received numerous error messages: collision mitigation braking system (cmbs) road departure mitigation system (rdm) lane keeping assist system (lkas) adaptive cruise control (acc) brake system light I contacted the dealership in which I purchased the vehicle and they did diagnostics. It came back that the front facing camera needs to be replaced. Which is a $2000 repair. After researching online this seems to be a common issue with years 2018-2020 Odysseys. This needs to be investigated and a recall issued from Honda USA for remedy as these error messages are concerning when they pop up repeatedly.
The forward facing camera failed on my 2020 Odyssey with only 90,000 miles. Because of this failure, I am loosing all my forward facing safety features. This seems to be a common issue across many Honda vehicles and most users report being told the issue is being caused by overheating. Since users are being told this is a cause and effect issue, the manufacturer should address this at their expense. I first noticed this issue in mid September 2025.
I’m have had trouble with the infotainment center since less than 5,000 miles. Supposedly it was fixed during a recall. I still have issues with it. Shortly after the recall was done, I started having all kinds of dash lights come on. Transmission system problems, adaptive cruise control problems, lane assist problem, emergency breaking problems, forward collision problems, and so on. All together, they are about 7 different lights. The rear air/heat no longer work at all. Every so often, I crank it and the radio is black. Won’t work unless I restart the car. Auto headlights no longer work. Side mirrors no longer adjust. Sunroof will no longer open. Interior lights don’t work. Automatic doors and trunk lift do not work. I can’t even lock the van anymore. When I crank it, I have to hold the key fob on the ignition button and press 3 or more times before it cranks. Switch batteries in the key fob and still no different. I paid a lot of money for this van after never having one issue out of my 2014 Odyssey. The 2020 has been nothing but a nightmare since a month after I purchased it. I will never buy or recommend a Honda vehicle to anyone. In fact, I will discourage anyone who tells me they’re thinking about a Honda purchase. I am now stuck with a barely working vehicle because who can afford another car in this economy?.
The camera sensor is malfunctioning. It is affecting the collision sensor and lane assist sensor. Also adaptive cruise control, road mitigation and auto high beams. My vehicle is scheduled for diagnostics with a dealer, but seeing the many, many cases and videos online of the same problem, I am certain of the problem since it has been confirmed by others who have already paid for this costly repair. My warning lamps come on every time I start my vehicle. This is a definite safety issue since the issue is with the safety sensors.
All warning lights came on for adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance. Based on my research, it seems the forward facing camera has failed. The vehicle only has 37,000 miles on it and it is only 5 years old.
The forward-facing camera and/or radar unit failed one morning while running errands, resulting in 5 separate adas system failures. With these safety features not working, our safety and the safety of others is at risk. We took it to our dealer and were told we would have to pay a diagnostic fee of $205, even though they clearly already knew what the problem was- based on the multiple complaints through NHTSA and various other forums and websites from Odyssey and other Honda model owners and across multiple years. The problem was confirmed by the dealer and they quoted us $2025 and we're still not sure if that includes just the camera and/or the radar unit, which is another $600 part. Other dealers have quoted only $1200 to fix the exact same thing, with others charging more than double that. The 5 separate warning messages scroll across our screen repeatedly and are very distracting as you're driving. With multiple electrical issues already in recall status by Honda, this is another one that they should be taking responsibility for and not dumping this defective electrical repair on their customers. Who's to say that we won't be in this exact same predicament 3 or 5 years from now if the part or parts aren't fixed! definitely expect more from Honda. . . Very disappointed and feel betrayed by the inferior parts they're passing on as quality products.
While driving, all at once several messages displayed, all of which are related to forward facing camera. Adaptive cruise control problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, auto high beam disabled along with the brake system light turning on when I researched the internet, there are alot a people report this problem with the Honda forward facing camera witch supports the systems listed this failures. Talking to friends and neighbors they have had the same issues, it is about a $2000 fix to replace and recalibrate the camera link to user forum [xxx] most of the reported issues including mine are related to heat, the camera is in an enclosure located at the top center of the windshield. We just had heat indexes above 100 degrees. The camera is always hot to the touch. I also had this issue in the past put happened whole under warranty. All Honda sensing technology is not working and brake system indicator is on. Acc, lkas, collision mitigation, auto high beam, road departure. I read online that a lot of Honda Odyssey owners are experiencing same problem. It could be the front camera sensor. I have always had electrical problems with car. There crackling sounds when the radio or music is playing on the stereos.
The front camera is malfunctioning, affecting all of my safety sensors.
The multipurpose camera unit failed in my 2020 Honda Odyssey. This camera is responsible for enabling multiple advanced driver-assistance systems, including the collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), lane keeping assist system (lkas), road departure mitigation system (rdm), adaptive cruise control, and auto high beams. The component has not been replaced yet and is available for inspection upon request. The failure of the camera disabled multiple critical safety systems while the vehicle was in operation. These systems are designed to prevent lane departures, collisions, and unintentional road exits, especially at higher speeds. With the systems offline, I was at increased risk of collision or lane departure, particularly on highways or in low visibility conditions. This malfunction removed key layers of protection that the vehicle is designed to provide. The issue was confirmed by a Honda dealership on August 8th 2025, which diagnosed the problem as a failed multipurpose camera unit. They acknowledged that this malfunction disables all related safety systems. The vehicle was inspected by a certified Honda dealership technician, but not by police, insurance, or the manufacturer directly at this time. Multiple dashboard warning messages appeared simultaneously one day when starting the vehicle, including: "collision mitigation system problem" "road departure mitigation system problem" "lane keeping assist problem" "adaptive cruise control problem" "auto high-beam problem" these messages first appeared on or around the end of June 2025, and the systems were disabled immediately upon the failure.
My Honda Odyssey, after a hot summer day showed error codes related to the front camera. The adaptive cruise control problem (acc), auto high-beam (a); road departure mitigation system, collision/braking mitigation system; lane keeping assist problem (lkas) now are non-functional. Various internet users complain of the same issues without a conclusive source for the problem. It is either related to battery voltage or front-camera failure (possible due to heat/sun exposure). The 2020 vehicle was purchased used from dealer in 2024 where the battery was stated to have been replaced/new. Further, my vehicle has the infotainment package (tv/dvd) which has also previously drawn down the battery even after the car was shut off (I. E. , the electronics and/air conditioning are drawing too much battery and causing low voltages that impact the camera-based sensors). Multiple internet users complain of parasitic battery draw, fuses, poor oem batteries, and faulty behaviors with the camera system.
Our Odyssey has had mounting concerns w/electrical system. These are safety issues. 10/20. Work done related to electrical system-rear camera having issues. Left/rt rear door wires were replaced due to recall. Software update completed. Gage control module software updated-know issue. 10/rear windshield wiper not functioning-electrical issue & pump malfunctioned. Idol stop was not properly working. The car would stall out at stoplights as lifting foot off the brake & attempting to accelerate. Battery was replaced at this time & the vehicle was only 3 years old-we were charged. Issues with our car are electrical related & are seeing many others with similar issues. 8/24-11/key fob batteries died. After batteries were changed, issues with the power windows began immediately. Windows would not going/up or down all the way and were sticking. Soon after they stopped working all together. Auto locks wouldn’t work & the gas tank latch had to manually open to fill the gas tank. Finally took the car in for diagnosis. Said the motor in the door was broken & needed to be replaced. We were not convinced that this was the real issue b/c the problem began immediately after the fob battery issue. Instead of new parts, the dealer glued pieces together & gave us a discounted price. This was & is a real safety concern especially knowing windows were altogether not functioning & we don't believe that it was properly addressed. 2/after snow/icy weather front passenger side windshield wiper dispenser/sprayer wasn’t working. Upon checking, discovered it had become dislodged. Adjusted the piece & reattached this piece into place. As soon as car was turned on ,right after reinserting the piece into place warning lights came on-all brake/lane mitigation lights. After diagnosis, said it was an issue with camera at windshield & the camera needed to be replaced. Odyssey groups state electrical issue are know and many w/2020 Odysseys. 5/25 issues are beginning again with idol stop.
The problem first appeared in may 2025 when multiple system failure lights illuminated simultaneously. After confirming the battery and alternator were in good condition, I took the van to Honda of cleveland (2701 s lee hwy, cleveland, TN 37311) for a diagnosis. Their service department confirmed that the adas front camera (36160-thr-a91) had failed, which disabled the following safety systems: adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance. I asked if this is a wear component (expected to need replacement over time) and was informed that it is not. The quoted cost to replace the camera and calibrate was approximately $1,400.
Windshield monocular camera has became faulty. No longer have adaptive cruise control, lane departure, forward collision braking. Looks like about a $1,500 expense to fix. Seems like a very common problem.
Multiple warning lights: 1. Acc- adaptive cruise control 2. Lkas- lane keeping assist problem 3. Collision mitigation system problem 4. Road departure mitigation system problem 5. Auto high beam problem safety issues: with almost all of these not working the risk of avoiding a possible accident is greatly increased. An independent service center read errors for the can. No prior warnings, they just came up. I have replaced the battery and the issues were not resolved. An inspection is possible.
Front facing camera went out on a 2020 model. Several warning lights appear related to lane assist, front collision warnings, and automatic emergency braking. These safety features are important, and Honda should issue a recall. The camera is around $800 to replace, plus another $800-$1000 to install and calibrate. Car is only 5 years old, and there have been other camera/electrical related problems, and many recalls. Please hold Honda accountable to fix their declining reliability issues.
Out of nowhere I got a bunch of errors involving the addaptive cruise, lane keep assist, auto highbeams, collision avoidance, and the brake system light came on. The van has under 40k miles on it. From a quick search I can see that this is a very common issue.
Took it to certified Honda garage to solve another issue and now there is an issue with the front facing camera system. - adaptive cruise control - lane keeping assistant - collision mitigation system - road departure mitigation system - auto high beam system.
Upon starting the vehicle, the following all fail: adaptive cruise control forward collision warning lane departure warning lane keeping assistance.
Front camera failure disabled adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance.
We bought this van with a clean bill of health as far as accidents and single owner prior to us. The car had a documented maintenance history but after 5k miles of driving it the active cruise control began to through all kinds of errors. I researched this issue and find that many more Honda owners with active cruise control have the same issue. A few customers say that they had their front camera replaced and calibrated for a cost of about $1,600. 00 only to have the error show up again. I am writing this message to report that in my case I have found a work around. It’s not a permanent fix but points to Honda’s computer throwing a false positive error that is costing a great deal of money to Honda owners. On our van when this error happens, I force a diagnostic scan followed by a forced computer reboot and the warning lights are fixed an all equipment back to working. It’s horrible to read that Honda charges $1,600. 00 to replace perfectly good parts in all their line without taking the time to truly diagnose their issues with acc errors and do good to their customers. I hope this helps reach someone who can further investigate this issue with Hondas. In our family’s case we are lucky that I have an it background and was able to find a fix for this issue without any costs to our family financials and avoided paying Honda to replace perfectly working components due to their lack of knowledge of how their equipment works. The multifunction forward looking camera in the top of the windshield developed an "internal fault" and either needs replacement or these safety features will fail to work. These safety features allow me to avoid accidents. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer. There are warning lamps that state that these features are no longer working.
The camera is faulty and I've brought it in once early on and the dealer said a wire needed to be tightened. It happened again and they said no such loose wire this time. The code says camera needs to be replaced. I don't even have 100k miles on this car and it's going bad. Faulty part and I know this is happening a lot.
I am writing to report a significant safety issue with my 2020 Honda Odyssey. The front assembly assist monocular camera (oem part 36160-thr-c01-m1) has failed, causing the loss of several critical safety features, including auto high beam, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, and lane keeping assist system (lkas). The local Honda dealership diagnosed the issue as an internal fault in the camera unit. Through research, I have discovered this failure is not an isolated incident. Numerous reports from other Odyssey owners highlight similar issues with the camera leading to the deactivation of these safety features. For example, discussions on the Honda Odyssey forum and other online platforms describe widespread failures of front-camera-dependent systems, including lane-keeping and collision avoidance features. These failures compromise vehicle safety, potentially increasing the risk of accidents. The camera’s malfunction disables essential systems designed to enhance driver awareness and prevent collisions, leaving drivers vulnerable in critical situations. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate this issue, as the consistency of these reports suggests a systemic problem. A recall or corrective action may be necessary to ensure the safety and reliability of these vehicles. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
All of a sudden warnings appear related to collision mitigation system problem lane keeping assist problem auto high beam problem adaptive cruise control problem road departure mitigation problem this is a major issue. I don’t feel safe driving this car with my family. Therefore NHTSA should get Honda to issue a recall for this vehicle given the magnitude and sheer scale of the problem. Below is one of many such forums where people who model years 2018-2020 have the exact same problem. . Read more...
The multifunction camera which is responsible for adas features suddenly failed.
Several engine failures, starting one month after purchase in September 2020. Multiple system failures (all on video) leading to very poor acceleration and operation. No compression in engine and only able to go 20 mph. White-allen Honda made four attempts to solve the matter over the course of two years. The dealer has had the car a total of 120 days. Then end of December 2024 then engine began making a knocking sound and I was told it needed at new engine, to the tune of $10,000. 00. Then I see a recall for a similar issue but only up to 2019 Odysseys. Please help find resolution for this.
Acc system started giving errors, diagnostics ran at Honda pointed to multi function camera. System was quoted for replacement at 1500 this seems to be a big problem across these models. Please investigate.
It seems our multi-purpose camera is malfunctioning and therefore causing all of the systems to go offline and light up on the dashboard when we turn on the car. It seems the only solution is to replace this. That seems insane that we should have to pay for this if this is a major safety feature of the car and one of the reasons we purchased the vehicle.
