Service Brakes problem #1

My car unexpectedly did a phantom brake at high 60+ mph with no car in front of me. I was so nervous due to car behind me almost colliding into me.

Service Brakes problem #2

Vehicle make/model/year: 2022 Honda Odyssey date of incident: 5-1-25 mileage at incident: 30,000 summary of incident: while my 2022 Honda Odyssey was fully stopped in traffic with my foot firmly on the brake pedal, the vehicle unexpectedly lurched forward and struck the car in front of me. Just before or during the lurch, the brake system warning light appeared on the dashboard. I did not have my foot on the accelerator at any time. The road was flat and weather conditions were normal. The idle stop system has not been functioning for several months, so the vehicle was operating in normal engine-on mode. Despite this, the car surged forward from a full stop, indicating a possible failure in the brake system, electronic throttle control, or a software/ecu malfunction. This was a dangerous, uncommanded movement of the vehicle while stopped, which resulted in a minor collision. Thankfully, no one was injured, but this poses a serious safety hazard, especially if it were to occur in crosswalks or at intersections. I will report the issue to Honda the dealership and requested a full diagnostic inspection. I am submitting this complaint because this incident could have caused serious injury or worse and may be part of a broader defect affecting brake or throttle systems on this model.

Service Brakes problem #3

For approximately 1 year the collision mitigation braking system will intermittently activate even when no hazards or objects are present in front of the vehicle. This has happened regardless of speed or any other conditions and has even happened while accelerating. There are no lights or warnings that present before the system activates. This poses a hazard of losing control of the vehicle or potential causing a crash due to the unexpected and sudden braking. This problem is intermittent and does not happen every time the car is driving but has happened enough to bring the car in to the service center. The first time we were told they couldn't replicate the problem so they wouldn't look into it. The second time they acknowledged a know issue with their collision mitigation system and recommended the camera and radar be recalibrated at a cost of $850. For some reason this failure of the system is not covered under warranty. They also stated the calibration is not guaranteed to fix the problem.

Service Brakes problem #4

On a number of occasions the automatic braking system has engaged when no vehicles or objects were present in the vicinity of the vehicle. This is incredibly dangerous. When I get in the car now I have to remember to disengage that feature before operating the vehicle.

Service Brakes problem #5

While driving through a section of highway that included a left turn lane my car sensed a collision when I was at least 8 feet from the nearest car. The brakes came on until I past the vehicle.

Service Brakes problem #6

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that on two separate occasions, the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard without warning. The contact narrowly avoided crashing into other objects due to the failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

Service Brakes problem #7

Warped rotors causing violent shaking of the steering wheel in fast braking. Had dealership turn rotors and fixed the problem for a couple days but the rotors started acting up again after a couple days.

Service Brakes problem #8

Was watching news on other Honda models and the emergency break system going off erroneously. This has happened with my car as well. It doesnt appear breaks will engage but the light will flash indicating to break even though there are no cars or objects in front of me. I have not had it inspected and waiting for first oil change to do so.

Service Brakes problem #9

When I first purchased my ‘22 Honda Odyssey a few months ago, the apple carplay wouldn’t work, then the main center screen started black screening and not turning on. I took it in to the dealer and they ordered the part almost 4 weeks ago. It’s still not in. Anyways, about 2 weeks ago, my van randomly braked while I was going 70 mph on srt. Fortunately, we didn’t get in an accident. There were no shadows, no other cars in front of us, not any reason for it to flash brake and stop. My mom was next to me and yelled, “what are you doing there are cars behind us. ” I said I didn’t know what was happening and started pushing on the gas to go again. I immediately took it to the dealer and told them I don’t feel safe driving it until they can fix the brake issue. The manager told me this happened to another lady in a ‘22 crv from the same dealership, but she was on surface streets. It started w the black screening and than the random braking. Long story short, they replaced the tuner on her car and she hasn’t had issues in about 5-6 weeks. They told me to wait for the part, and while I wait, they can turn the safety features off. I said no thanks, I’ll leave it until they are sure it’s fixed. They won’t give me a loaner so I’ve been borrowing my parents’ car. I already have a case number with Honda and they don’t seem to be taking it seriously nor will they offer me a loaner. The dealer/manager has been extremely rude and has stopped responding when I ask him for updates. I am still waiting on the part to come in to fix the electronic issue.
