I took my 2018 Honda Odyssey to the dealership for a fuel pump recall repair. The next day, the engine warning light turned on, and I heard a loud abnormal noise from the high-pressure fuel pump. I scheduled an immediate service appointment. The dealer charged me $230 for a diagnostic but claimed no fault or error code was found. They turned off the warning light without explaining why it was triggered. The abnormal noise from the high-pressure fuel pump persisted, and the dealer recommended replacing the high-pressure fuel pump for $1,942. 78 while denying any connection to the recall repair. Component/system that failed: high-pressure fuel pump engine management system how was safety put at risk? a fuel system failure can cause engine stalling, leading to sudden loss of power while driving and an increased risk of a crash. Has the problem been confirmed by a dealer? yes. The dealership acknowledged an abnormal noise from the high-pressure fuel pump but denied any connection to the recall. They only reported a dca-8000 code, which is not a standard fuel system error code. Has the vehicle been inspected by the manufacturer? yes. The dealership inspected the vehicle but refused to take responsibility. Honda corporate was also contacted, but they denied warranty coverage. Any warning lamps or symptoms before the failure? no prior issues before the recall repair. The engine warning light turned on the next day, and the abnormal noise from the high-pressure fuel pump began immediately after. Why this needs to be investigated: the issue began right after the recall service, suggesting a possible defect. The dealer charged me $230 but failed to explain the warning light activation. If other vehicles experience this, it may indicate a recall defect. A fuel system failure can create serious safety risks for drivers and passengers. Nhtsa must investigate whether the recall service contributed to high-pressure fuel pump failures, as this could pose a significant safety hazard.

Vehicle loses acceleration power intermittently. No response when pressing accelerator or when speeding up with cruise control. Pressing the gas harder does not help but the vehicle starts working normally a few seconds later. Dangerous on busy roads. I don't think it is a weak fuel pump because it accelerated quickly after an event.

Dash warning lights for engine code p2019 associated with the fuel injectors come on and off intermittently. Honda has said my injectors are not under recall despite other 2019 Odysseys having been recalled for this same issue. Transmission has expired hesitation in shift moving from a complete stop and acceleration.

In several occasions there is a delay in acceleration. This typically is happening when I take off from a stop sign and turning, others I have literally been on highway merging and loss all acceleration al though I can hear rpm ramp up, there is no action till 10-15 seconds later. I am very lucky no was injured in that instance and could have been a terrible accident going 70+. I see this is an ongoing issue, and because it is not consistent in manner people fail to repair/research issue.

Vehicle has been experiencing intermittent instances of non movement when gas pedal has been pushed. This has come about sporadically and only been rectified only when vehicle driver has repeated action of "pumping" the gas pedal. In this instances, the situation has put driver and occupants at risk as it happens without warning, not allowing vehicle to drive when cars are fast approaching. Driver will attempt to move from a stopped position to drive and car has not moved. More so, we have a slight incline from our drive way, leading on to a very busy road that reaches speeds of 50+ mph. There has been instances where we have attempted to enter the road way from the driveway with approaching vehicles, very far away. Once break pedal was released, the car (due to being on a minimal incline) has begun to roll into the roadway. Driver then proceeds to press the gas pedal down to initiate movement, but vehicle does not move, driver repeats action and car begins to slowly move creating near dangerous heart pounding scenarios where the approaching vehicles that were very very far away when deciding to enter roadway to slamming on their breaks to avoid collision. Vehicle then began displaying an emission system problem warning on dashboard. This prompted us to take it to an independent mechanic. Mechanic read the code and right away suggested we contact the dealer, as this is a "known issue" for Honda and the Odysseys and the faulty fuel injectors causing the dashboard light and vehicle not to move when gas pedal is initiated. Local Honda dealership requested vehicle be brought in for diagnostic. We paid $185 to learn what we already knew. Honda has issued an extended warranty on 2018-2019 Honda Odysseys for fuel injector issues but only to certain VIN #s. Upon researching in online forums, many customers with affected year Odysseys are being denied warranty extension due to VIN #s not qualifying. This issue is clearly larger than picked and chosen VIN #s.

I’m experiencing several issues with my 2014 Honda Odyssey: -the radiator fan often stays on after the car is turned off. -I have to press the shut down button 3 times before the car completely shuts off, which is concerning. -after driving for only 20 minutes , the engine temperature spikes to the max which is limiting my ability to get places safely. -the sliding doors only work when the car is off and sometimes even then it won’t open after trying 3/5 times. These issues are ongoing never stops, the overheating and fan behavior feel unsafe so we just use the car for very short drives(5mins max). I’m worried about potential engine damage or failure while driving. The sliding doors also pose a safety concern, especially with kids.

Vehicule does not respond when push the gas pedal. There is a delay on the vehicule respond after push the gas. Creating false idea of not pushing the gas enough. Suddenly the vehicule react loosing control.

Emission error code which is part of recalls due to fuel pump and suddenly check egin light came on and vehicle couldn't shift from park mode to drive mode. We took the vehicle to dealer ship and they mentioned that transmission failure where vehicle just two weeks ago at the dealership for another repair and inspection report didn't specify anything about the transmission.

Fuel pump failure that was not a part of the 2. 5 million car recall. Honda would not help.

Since purchasing the vehicle, I've had several incidents where my safety and those inside my vehicle are compromised due to the loss of drive power and stalling of the vehicle while driving. I've complained to the dealer for which they continued to assure me that there was no problem detected during the safety inspections. Recently I received the recall notice to replace the fuel pump module which was causing the issues that I've experienced with my vehicle. I took my vehicle to the dealer on 11/11/24, where it was serviced to correct the recall issues. However, I continue to have the same problems of stalling and loss of drive power when driving the vehicle. There are no warning lamps or other issues detected by the dealer according to their safety inspection. My safety and the safety of my passengers, continues to be put at risk. While driving in the highway it is especially dangerous because when I'm changing lanes the vehicle will not accelerate putting me at a risk for a collision. When I am turning left into a street, I feel that it looses power and am stalled in the middle on the street risking yet again a collision. These incidents occur at least 90 percent of the time when driving.

The vehicle has been occasionally stalling starting early 2024, maybe sooner. I had the fuel pump recall done recently. The vehicle is still stalling, and it seems to be getting worse. The stalling happens when driving at speed, even over 70+ mph. No warning lights. But rpms drop to almost zero for a few seconds and accelerator is unresponsive. Then it comes back after a few seconds. This is dangerous. Especially on busy highways.

Fuel pump went out on my Honda Odyssey causing my car to stall on a highway with my kids. It kept giving me issues the last few days before stalling with taking off. It was as if the car did not want to take off when stopped and when accelrating. I did report this to my local Honda dealer and although there is a recall regarding the fuel pumps and injectors dealing with my make and model my VIN number is unfor. Not included. I had to have my car towed to my local dealership on 12/18 which I am still waiting on repairs. When this happened all of my warning lights appeared.

I received a safety recall notice from Honda which is informing me that the parts for the fuel pump recall are now available. However, the second sentence of the letter states that the recall applies to 2018-2023 cr-v vehicles and I own a Honda Odyssey, not a cr-v. The letter is confusing since I do not own a cr-v.

Honda has not completed the recall in a timely manner. I was notified in February of 2024 about the fuel injector recall. I have called multiple times and also requested the recall be performed when my vehicle was in the dealer’s shop. However, I was always told the parts are not available or my model is not the highest priority. The dealer kept pushing the time out for when I could have the recall performed. Currently, they are saying April of 2025.

I have replaced the vehicle pump 4 times in the last 6 months I’m driving vehicle stutters when going uphill then it just stops mid drive and when we have it checked the pump connector are charred. We replace fuel pump and wires and. Within 6 weeks to 2 months I have to replace fuel pump again. It’s a safety issue as my vehicle can get into an accident or it can explode due to it burning the wires and connectors to fuel pump. I’m tired of replacing this item.

The check engine light on my 2018 Honda Odyssey has been on since January 2024. We took it to the dealer (music city Honda - mt. Juliet, TN) and they claimed the 02 sensors were bad. We paid $500 to have these replaced, but the light came back on. We then received the recall for the fuel pump module. We have tried twice since may 2024 to get the part under recall replaced but have been told both times that the part is unavailable. The dealer claimed that we could bring it in but if the issue is not determined to be related to the recall, we will have the pay the diagnostic fee. Not only is my check engine light on (it says emissions system problem), but my car stalls while driving. This poses a significant safety risk for myself and my family, and Honda is refusing to do their part to remedy the issue at no cost.

Issue-1 high pressure fuel pump in the engine bay (no the fuel pump that was recalled for some vins) failed at 88000 miles. There was a loud motorcycle exhaust kind of sound coming from the engine bay , which is more audible from inside the cabin than from the engine bay itself. Took it to service center for a 1500$ replacement. Wrote to Honda customer care , but they rejected by claim and goodwill refund saying there is not recall for this item. It is example of poor quality of Honda these days especially with this 2018 nine speed model. Issue-2 major safety issue. The vehicle doesn't accelerate while moving from a complete stop or turning into a busy intersection , making us prone to big collison from oncoming traffic. The vehicle lags for 3-5 seconds before it accelerate rapidly. This is an ongoing issue with this model which Honda ignores and is a disaster waiting to happen. Nhtsa should look into this and recall all Honda 2018 9 speeed Odysseys to fix this issue. It is been 6 years and Honda comfortably ignoring this safety hazard especially for a vehicle meant for kids.

After having the Honda dealership perform an oil change and software update 23-008 (updating the auto idle stop software) last week, my engine stalled while at a busy intersection (PA turnpike/70 junction) during a road trip. At the long stop light the auto idle function engaged and the engine turned off. When the stop light turned green and I lifted my foot off the brake and pressed the gas the engine shut down and automatically went into park. I had to press the start/stop button to fully turn off then turn back on the car to get the engine to restart. This is with a giant semitruck honking right behind me. The auto idle feature does not work. It sounds terrible every time the engine restarts after it has been engaged. There really should be an option to allow users to permanently disable it, and not have to remember to turn it off every time they start the car--terrible user experience.

My Odyssey falls under the Dec 2023 fuel system recall. My van has the symptoms but no check engine light. Ive made Honda aware, but still no parts available to fix. Ive been told they wont fix unless the check engine light is on, this is unacceptable especially when its a recall that has to be fixed. Symptoms have gotten worse and im honestly ready to trade in the van if Honda wont repair it. This is unacceptable, its almost a year since the recall was issued.

There has been an open recall on my vehicle for 10 months but the carmaker and dealerships are refusing to fix it. They are claiming "parts availability" but it has been 10 months now and they are selling the part online for profit. They are also using parts to sell new vehicles for profit before addressing the safety issue for existing owners.

When trying to accelerate from a stop either in an intersection or from a driveway the vehicle takes a long moment before it responds. . . Leaving my family vulnerable to cars coming from the opposite direction. I think it's the transmission but it could have to do with the fuel intake. . . It has been ongoing for months and months. The dealer has attempted to rectify but to not avail. . . . Very dangerous.

My 2018 Honda Odyssey van have had persistent acceleration hesitations after completed stops, especially during making left or right turns at street intersections since July 2022. This car normally hesitates for 2 to 3 seconds after accelation pedad is pressed before suddently jumps forward. Acceleration hesitation for few seconds, during making a turn, is very dangerous due to in coming cars in my opinion; as a result, we have tried to avoid using my Odyssey van as much as possible due to potential accidents when making a turn with this Honda van.

Car hesitates upon acceleration passing through approximately 2000 rpm. Does not duplicate every time. Dealer will not replace high pressure fuel pump.

There are times especially when first starting the car that pressing the gas does not move the car from a stopped position. There is quite a delay and sometimes a need to turn the car off and back on for the car to move. This can be quite dangerous when stopped and then crossing lanes of traffic as it is unknown when this delay between pressing the gas pedal and the car actually moving may occur. This was reported to Honda service who advised it is normal for this car to have such a delay.

Fuel pump died while driving on highway causing the engine to stall and vehicle to shift into neutral at highway speed. Also lost power brakes while attempting to pull over to shoulder due to stall. Further, when tow truck arrived we could not shift vehicle into neutral to place it on truck bed as the gear shifter is electronic and requires engine to be on to shift out of park. No check engine lights were on prior to this event. When the event occurred, the vehicle cycled through multiple warnings on the dash. This was extremely frightening as our whole family was in the van and we could have been killed if we lost control or if we were unable to pull over where we did. Thankfully we were in a spot where we could pull off the highway. Fuel pump was previously replaced within the last couple of years as part of a recall. New pump should not have failed this early. Dealership confirmed faulty fuel pump and replaced under extended warranty on 9/4/2024. It is unknown if they kept the faulty part. I am now afraid to drive the vehicle as the fuel pump may fail again.

There is an active recall for my fuel pump and I’ve tried several times to get it fixed and they refuse to fix it.

I purchased this auto new from the local dealer in 2019 and have constantly experienced, reported and paid thousands to repair and address transmission and delayed acceleration issues. I have a 2018 Odyssey and have only had it for about 6 months. One of the biggest issues I’ve noticed is when I go to accelerate, the car does not go right away. I have to push down hard on the pedal and the tires spin, resulting in the van lurching then accelerating quickly. This has caused many moments of panic as I’ve gone to accelerate to pull into traffic or to drive across a main road and it’s stalled for a moment then lurches into accelerating. I’m a careful driver and have always used acceleration in moderation and try to ease into it. This van does not allow that. You will try to press down on the pedal to slowly accelerate with nothing happening, then it’s like it connects and plows forward. Tires spinning and all.

My 2019 Honda Odyssey has had issues with engine hesitation since purchase, but have worsened in the last year to the point that I am concerned I will be in an accident. When creeping forward at a lower speed (5-8mph) to make a turn, the engine hesitates for several seconds, delaying my ability to turn and causing me to then turn seconds before another car is approaching me. I am in a Honda facebook group and many people report similar issues without any fix. I have taken my car to the dealership and they do not see any issues. I recently had my fuel pump recall done (I basically had to beg the dealership to do it despite them telling me Honda is short on supplies), and the issue is still present. The issue is worse in colder weather. I drive with 3 kids in the backseat. This issue needs to be addressed.
