The camera located behind the rearview mirror is faulty. In hot weather locations (like mine in florida) it stops working. And that means all electronically assisted driving systems lkas (like cruise control, auto high beam, lane departure, auto distance monitor/collision warning, etc. ) malfunction, giving flashing messages about all non-working features. This is due to cmos image sensor degradation caused by heat exposure. Many people have expressed concerns about this on different Honda forums online. I took it to a Honda dealer and after paying a fee for diagnosis, the service manager said that when the temperature outside gets hot, they get a lot of this kind of service request. They want over $2,300 to replace the camera. They were actually puzzled why Honda does not recall this item. Honda needs to address this since it is actually safety related and indeed a faulty item. There should be no reason for people to pay this outrageous price for something that is clearly a manufacturing problem.
Sensor failed, causing many safety systems to fail - front collision warning, lane keeping assistance, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, etc.
There’s more thant went wrong but won’t let me add them. My front camera seems to be the issue but many are having the same exact issue. I just bought it not too long ago. Worked fine until this recall came out.

This is a report on a design flaw- not a failed component- in the 2026 Honda Odyssey's "Smart" computer automated safety features, including automatic braking, lane departure, and forward collision warning systems. There have been two types of incidents. These incidents have been repeated on this vehicle dozens of times in our first year of ownership. These incidents are potentially very dangerous because they involve erroneous automatic braking at interstate highway speeds. Unexpected erroneous braking at interstate speeds is a good way to cause a rear-end collision or loss of control. 1. Automatic emergency braking due to erroneous lane departure detection. On interstates in arizona at highway speeds of 65 mph, the vehicle's lane departure detection system throws erroneous warnings when it sees non-lane markings on the roadway, such as tar sealant strips or seams between pavement sections. This has resulted more than once in the vehicle erroneously applying emergency automated braking to slow the vehicle. This happens even when lane assist and adaptive cruise control are turned off by the driver. 2. Erroneous automated braking while overtaking another vehicle. On interstates in arizona at highway speeds of 65 mph, while passing in the left lane a vehicle that is moving much slower in the right lane (e. G. Semi truck climbing a hill at 40 mph), while using adaptive cruise control, automated braking is applied erroneously when there is no risk of a forward collision. The automated braking tends to kick in far earlier than a human driver would brake, and when there is no vehicle in the lane ahead, so it is unexpected and dangerous. This only happens while adaptive cruise control is activated by the driver.
Cmbs error again now having lane assist error.

The vehicle is showing persistent electrical and communication fault codes involving the ecm, abs, and eps systems, including p16e2, p16e5, p16e7, p16e8, u0401, and u0416. These codes return immediately, which suggests an active fault rather than a temporary low-voltage condition. The issue appears to involve the battery sensor and/or the related communication network between control modules. Because the faults involve abs and eps communication, the concern is that braking-related or steering-assist systems may not be receiving correct data. This creates a potential safety risk because the vehicle may experience intermittent or unreliable control-module communication, which could affect steering assist, braking-related warnings, or overall drivability. The warning lights and diagnostic codes first appeared before the vehicle was put back into normal use and have continued to remain present. The problem has been reproducible because the codes reappear right away after being cleared. No dealer or manufacturer diagnosis has been confirmed yet, so the exact root cause remains unresolved.
While driving the vehicle under normal conditions, multiple advanced driver assistance and safety systems suddenly became unavailable without warning. The systems affected include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keeping assistance, and related safety features that rely on the forward-facing camera. The failures occurred at the same time and were indicated by warning messages displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized dealer, who confirmed a diagnostic trouble code indicating an internal electronic failure of the forward multipurpose camera. The failed component is installed behind the windshield and is available for inspection upon request. The dealer stated that no accident, physical damage, misuse, or external cause was identified. After the camera failure was identified, the vehicle also briefly displayed a transmission system warning message that later cleared on its own. In addition, the center display screen has shown unstable behavior while driving, including unexpected resets and flashing back to the navigation screen. The sudden loss of collision mitigation, lane assistance, and warning systems reduces the vehicle’s ability to assist in avoiding crashes, particularly in emergency situations, and increases safety risk to the driver, passengers, and others on the road.

While driving on highway, multiple warnings displayed at the same time as adaptive cruise control stopped, lane keep assistance stopped and collision mitigation system stopped abruptly without warning. Independent service check confirmed the problem. No inspection performed. Vehicle has never been in a collision during ownership.
Front camera is bad or faulty, triggering all adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, auto high beam etc errors on dashboard, rendering the car not able to start or die in the middle of the road/traffic when the engine goes into idle mode while stopping at red lights. My odessey has over 111k miles when these issues start showing, but lots of people report experiencing same issue with even with their newer odessey. It doesn’t feel right why Honda installed cheap cameras especially when it plays a crucial role involves safety of the car and the driver.
System failure for all of the safety-related assistants. Works intermittently, but mostly indicates failure.
Getting error code for safety sinsing. Lane keep assist, collision mitigation system and now transmission system. Forward facing camera is cause of issue.
The adas system doesn't work. The forward collision system, adaptive speed control, and lane keeping assist have all shown malfunction errors and no longer work.
The front windshield camera completely failed. No longer have emergency braking. Honda said known problem and want to charge $2000 to fix.
The front monocular camera assembly (Honda part number 36160-thr-a81) on my 2019 Honda Odyssey elite failed and is available for inspection upon request. When the failure occurs, the vehicle displays multiple warning messages including “collision mitigation system problem,” “adaptive cruise control problem,” “lane keeping assist problem,” “road departure mitigation system problem,” and “auto high beam problem. ” as a result, several driver-assist safety systems are disabled, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and road departure mitigation, which reduces the vehicle’s active safety features and increases the risk of a collision. The warnings appear simultaneously on the dashboard while driving and remain active until the vehicle is restarted. The condition has been reproduced multiple times and has been confirmed during diagnostic inspection by a service technician. The camera failures are very common and are a design defect. The design was changed in later years but there was not a recall for the 2019 models. This is a very expensive fix and should be covered by a recall.
The camera module failed in our van and gave us a u3000-49 code which caused the vehicle to lose adaptive cruise control (acc), lane keeping assist system (lkas), collision mitigation braking system (cmbs), and road departure mitigation (rdm) functions on the vehicle with a cost to fix from Honda of $ 2,475. 56.
The car has started giving warnings every time I turn it on (as of 6 months ago): adaptive cruise control problem, collision mitigation system problem, auto high beam problem, lane keeping assist problem. It seems there must be a fault in the windshield camera that renders all these safety features useless. The repair shop stated that windshield camera isn’t working and is a $2k or more to repair. I am now driving a minivan that doesn’t have many important safety features and this is very dangerous.
System is starting to fail by alerting me to clean windshield. Windshield and camera have been cleaned, still getting multiple warnings that system is shutting off safety features during my commutes.
All Honda sensing / adas safety warnings appear at the same time while driving or shortly after starting the vehicle. When this happens, all driver assistance systems are disabled, including: •adaptive cruise control (acc) •lane keeping assist (lkas) •collision mitigation braking system (cmbs) •road departure mitigation •automatic high beam when the failure occurs, the vehicle displays multiple safety system warnings and the entire driver assistance system shuts down, leaving the vehicle without any adas safety features.
Multiple system problems constantly on my dashboard. Has brand new spark plugs and battery and problem is still there.
For the past 6 months the vehicle shows warnings regarding lane keeping assistance problems, cruise problems, braking problems,. The warning can show up in the middle of driving, or right at start. Sometimes they go away while driving.
We turned the car on and got an acc, lkas, fcs, ahl errors due to the front sensor and the camera failing. This is an issue that many Honda owners are dealing with. The issue will not allow you to use cruise control and will disable 90% of the safety features we bought this vehicle for. The car drives fine but the safety of those in the car is affected by this error and needs to be recalled due to the number of complaints of this issue. There were no errors or warning signs prior to this happening.
I own a 2019 Honda Odyssey elite with 39,000 miles on it. In January 2026, suddenly I had multiple warning lights on in my minivan related to an adas system failure. I replaced the car battery and later determined that the adas camera had failed in the car. In reading online, this is a very common issue with Hondas as the cameras are known to overheat and require replacement. Warning lights: brake system malfunction, adaptive cruise control problem, collision mitigation system problem, lane keeping assist problem, road departure mitigation system problem, auto high beam problem before I was able to get it repaired, the van turned off suddenly in traffic twice while my wife was driving the car while also one of my children was inside, creating an unsafe condition that could have created an accident. Luckily my wife was able to get the car safely moved out of traffic and we stopped driving the car at that point. I wound up replacing the camera and and needing to get it recalibrated so that the car could be drivable. This resulted in the van not being operable for nearly a month. For a car that had 39,000 miles on it, this really should be something under a longer warranty as it could have created an unsafe driving condition for my family. Total cost to repair = $1634. 22.
Front camera is known to go out on these vans causing acc, lkas, collision mitigation, road departure mitigation system, auto high beam, transmission problems and more.
Warning lights stay on for: adaptive cruise control problem (acc); auto high-beam problem (a); road departure mitigation system problem; collision mitigation system problem; lane keeping assist problem (lkas); brake system lights. Lights will not clear. Dealership diagnosed for replacing monocular camera on front windshield/mirror. Gary smith Honda replacement cost $2364 on 20jan2026.
The front camera that is responsible for adas suddenly died and it is very vurnerable to heat. The unit gets very hot and it gets hot quickly. The lifespan of the unit is very short and the dealer is asking for $2000 to replace it like they have seen this pretty often.
Our front camera on windshield failed at 96k miles, causing all lights to come on the dash. This resulted in all safety features failed and even basic cruise control doesnt work. Lots of Honda owners have same issues and the result is that it is a failed front camera which could cost around 2k to replace. There is no other way around it. It is found out that the camera could over heat leading to failure. This issue should be a recall because it is a safety concern. Could you please look into it? thank you for your time.
The camera for these sensors has gone out and it appears to be an extremely common issue. It makes all safety features un-usable.
While driving down the road way the collision mitigation warning failure flashed and then pulled the steering wheel pulled me off the roadway and nearly caused me to crash.
After researching I find it to be a sensor in the windshield is a common problem.
All of my adas systems were disabled due to a water leak. The repair required the dealership to hire a "leak doctor" and then replace a module in the rear tailgate. My vehicle showed an alert on the dash that each of the adas features were disabled, auto high beams were disabled, and I could not turn the vehicle off by pushing the start/stop button once, I had to use a procedure that forced the vehicle to shut down. My interior dash lights flickered, I'm not sure if the headlights worked. As the interior dried out, the flickering occurred less frequently. I was able to drive the vehicle to a Honda dealer for repairs.
The front camera that regulates the adaptive cruise control failed. Now it does not allow for any of the safety features to work. I’ve gone on multiple Honda forums and a lot of people have the same issue.
Driving on the interstate with cruise control. All of a sudden the car braked (no one in front within eye shot) and cruise control stopped. I had to tap the brake manually then accelerator to get the car back under my control. Ever since then I get acc, lkas and other warnings when the car starts up. It seems like the front camera catastrophically failed while driving and almost caused the car to come to a complete stop on the interstate. It was very scary.
All the systems are not working this is a very low mileage vehicle and has not been involved in any accidents. They are many owners reporting the same issue. This is a safety issue as it shuts off many of the safety features of this vehicle while driving. Honda claims it’s normal.
The camera for collision, cruise control, lane assistance and etc stopped working. Over $2000 to replace and not covered under warranty.
