One problem related to steering gear box has been reported for the 1998 Honda Passport. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I have been experiencing vibration in the steering wheel and a very bad knocking sound in the steering box since the day I purchased the vehicle. I have brought it back to the original dealer and a Honda dealer 3-4 times and they suggested to balance the tires , I have been to numerous dealers to fix with no resolve at this time. Also stating that the knocking from the steering box was normal. This has been an ongoing thing since Feb.
