38 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2021

My Honda Passport had approx 10k miles and I was driving down a blind s curve less than 1 mile from my home on a clear dry day. The Passport lost power, and when the gas pedal was depressed there was a loud grinding sound but no engagement - it seemed like the transmission was grinding and disengaged, or that power was not being transmitted by the engine. I coasted down to safe spot at bottom of hill, and stopped vehicle, put it in park and turned it off. Then I started it again, transmission/power seemed to re-engage and I drove straight to dealership. They kept the car and told me they checked and found no codes. I asked about checking transmission fluid and they said they did but I don’t believe them. I called Honda corporate customer service and they told me they “couldn’t do anything until it happened to me again” and that I “needed to address problems and issues with my dealer. ” (it was dealer who told me to call corporate. ) since this time, I have received notice of fuel pump recall and that has been repaired. I wonder if the loss of power I experienced was fuel pump, or if it was related to transmission issue (same as odyssey) for the 9-speed transmission.

When the auto engine idle is engaged (which is the default setting), when you stop, the engine idle works as advertised, then after a few moments the car will totally shut off and place itself in neutral. After several failed attempts, the only way to restart it, is to place the keyfob against the start button hold it there while pressing the start button and holding the brake pedal. This cars maintenance has been completed on time and solely by the purchasing dealership. A battery replacement finally in December of '21 put the problem at bay for approximately 8 months and here we go again. Honda is also not being honest with the dealerships, this is a known issue just check the blogs. The dealer is the one that went onto google and started researching the issue. As for an accident, it's only a matter of time before this causes an accident, most likely someone getting rearended!.

41 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2020

On two separate occasions the vehicle has not started in extreme cold. First occasion: February 7, 2021, attempted to remote start the vehicle, but the vehicle would not start. Attempted to start the vehicle from inside, but would not start. Called aaa roadside assistance to have the vehicle jump started and the vehicle still would not start. Second occasion: attempted to start the vehicle and it would not start. Attempted to use a roadside battery pack to jump the vehicle, but would not start. Hooked the battery up to a truck for 45 minutes, while the truck was running, and attempted to start the vehicle several times, but the vehicle never started. Called Honda roadside assistance and was informed that we would need to wait up to two hours for a tow truck. We waited 5 hours before the tow truck arrived. While waiting I called dahl Honda of onalaska for assistance. I purchased a new battery from them. They sent a driver out to deliver it to the parking lot we were stranded in. I installed the new batter but the vehicle still would not start. When the tow truck arrived, we tried to jump the new battery with the Honda employee present, but the vehicle still would not start. The tow truck driver delivered the disabled vehicle to dahl Honda in lacrosse, wisconsin. Each time dealership could not diagnose the problem that caused the vehicle to not start. Was told that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. The two times the issue has occurred, the outside temperatures were below zero, thus putting my family (two very young children) in danger. The vehicle was inspected by dahl Honda in lacrosse, WI and schlossmann Honda in milwaukee. No warning lamps, check engine lights, etc.

My auto start/stop repeatedly fails to start after engaging during a traffic stop (stop sign, red light, etc. ). The engine cuts off and will not start again, causing safety issues as the car is idle and “stalled” when traffic begins moving. Things an ongoing problem that I have reported to the dealer several times. I have completed the info using approximate dates and mileage of first of many occurrences.

43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2019

I was driving on the highway at 65mph. All of a sudden the vehicle started to slow down at a very fast rate cutting my speed in half. 2 errors appeared on the dashboard. "transmission problem, apply parking brake when parked. " and "blind spot info system problem. " luckily I was able to pull over just in the right time, but the vehicle was starting to get very hard to control while steering as this was all happening. The vehicle started to control me meaning j almost couldn't steer it where it needed to go and I could not accelerate at all on the highway. The vehicle kept slowing down. I was on the shoulder of the highway around a sharp turn and I was terrified that someone would slam right into me. It took a tow truck 1 hour to arrive. The dealer has never heard of this issue before. I'm waiting to hear back from them as they still have m vehicle. Wilde Honda waukesha, WI.

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2019

48 hours after I purchased my 2019 Honda pilot the transmission blew. I was driving on the highway on my way to a vacation with my car packed for the week and I heard a bang as if I hit something and then it sounded as if something was dragging on the bottom but nothing was there. I was extremely scared because I was stuck alone on the side of the highway because the transmission blew on my brand new car with less that 100 miles. My vehicle had to be towed away and they had to place a brand new engine. I was offered no compensation and they refused to give me a new vehicle.

45 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2019

This has been happening from the beginning of ownership. There was a recent recall but it did not fix the problem. I come to a stop, and then start to go and my car stalls out for a second and then restart. Every time I took it in to the service center, they said they can't recreate it and there's nothing wrong. As it stalls, the "collision mitigation system" warning light comes on. I have almost been rear-ended many times and it's really scary. You can see all the complaints online for this same problem but Honda is not acknowledging the problem. Someone is going to get seriously hurt.
