2 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2016 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 02/16/2017

Vehicle has electronic, keyless push button start. It also has a fuel, emissions feature where it shuts down when the brake is depressed, it doesn't idle at stoplights and automatically starts when lifting off the brake. I was driving the vehicle when I approached a red light. Depressed brake and vehicle light showed idle assist and vehicle engine shut off. When the light turned green, I lifted my foot off the brake and onto the gas. The vehicle did not start. All dash lights displayed and all error codes alternated on display. It also showed vehicle was in park. I tried to restart it again by depressing the brake and pushing the engine start button. Vehicle would not start and dials were twitching. Tried several times to start vehicle. The police arrived and wanted to push the vehicle to the side of the road since it was blocking the left hand lane on a 55 mile an hour road. Could not get vehicle in neutral. Call Honda dealership service department to ask how to put vehicle in neutral. They stated they didn't know how. Tow truck arrived and had to drag vehicle onto flat bed tow truck. Tow truck deliver vehicle to dealer. Dealer charged battery to restart vehicle. They ran diagnostics and stated it had no error code. They could not reproduce engine stop and stated there was no report of this happening to another vehicle. After I stated I was nervous to drive the vehicle again, they stated they could keep vehicle and drive it for several days to see if it happened again. Driving conditions: clear day, 30 degrees fahrenheit. Driving approximately 9 minutes, 55 miles per hour. 14,000 mile, less than one year old.

3 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2012 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 05/28/2016

39000 miles and egr valve malfunction. Just bought this 2012 Honda Pilot. The dealer covered repair as I just bought it. Is this going to be a reoccurring problem? the dealer only replaced the egr valve and did not clean carbon build up. From what I have read they should have.

Most resent garage check mechanic states probably due to valves needing replaced which could be a $3,200 fix. No recall but no real answers. 5 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/13/2011

Transmission would not engage into reverse, notice a pink-brown fluid in the driveway. Had Pilot towed to dealership where Pilot was bought & serviced. Informed transmission cooling lines in radiator had disintegrated, causing transmission fluid to leak into radiator & radiator fluid into the transmission. When asked how this could happen to a 6 yr old Pilot with only 59 k mileage no one had the answer. Recommendation was new radiator & 2 transmission flushes, cost $906. 29. I asked for some kind of assistance with the cost of the repair, because of the year, mileage & all schedule services were performed @ the dealership. Here comes the alabama shim-sham. I was informed to call Honda of n America. Honda offered me $300 towards the repair cost,I said the offer was unacceptable, they offered $450, that was unacceptable. A few days later Honda called back offering 400, I asked what happen to the 450 offer, they offered 450 again. I informed Honda I needed an offer of 600, they agreed, I'm waiting for the check in the mail. 4 days after I took the Pilot from the dealer repair shop the transmission went. Dealer informed me replacement cost would be $5200. Informed dealer I should not be charged because disintegrated transmission cooling lines caused the transmission problem. Here comes the alabama shim-sham again. Dealer & Honda would pay $2500, I was to pay remaining cost $2700. I informed them that the offer is unacceptable. Dealing with Honda & dealer they stated the new cost to me would be $500, I informed both I need a better offer than that, the next offer was for me to pay $250, I accepted that offer. Honda has a problem with the 05 Pilot transmissions & transmission cooling lines. They know it but won't admit it. Transmission cooling lines are disintegrating @ the 5 - 6 year mark regardless of the mileage. Something needs to be look at for the reason why.

6 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2007 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 02/08/2011

I was about 1 mile from my home when my 2007 Honda Pilot started to choke, all my warning signal lit up on my dashboard and my car died. No smoke was coming from my hood. Had it towed to braman Honda where they said I had a blown head gasket. There was coolant mixed in my oil, oil in my coolant and my radiator was cracked and both hoses needed to be replaced. My car prior to this gave me no warning of it overheating what so ever. They said my car went to 285 degrees, but I was never given any warnings. I don't know if this has anything to do with my car or this problem, nut the night before when I was driving home from work, my car smelled so bad like gas, that I had to roll down my window . I was thinking it came from outside, another car. When I turned my car off after I got home, the engine fan was so loud, I thought I left my car running! when I got home the next day from having my car towed, I noticed the same greenish brown fluid that was all over my engine on my driveway. It must have blown when I got home or was about to.

7 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 03/20/2010

I was driving my wife and three kids when our 2005 Honda Pilot's transmission stopped functioning. We were nearly rear-ended 3 times on a 40 mph speed limit street, before I was able to get the car and my family pushed to a side street. Our car was towed to a dealer and we were told that the issue was due to the interior of the radiator disentegrating and then metal parts leaked into the transmission. We've taken meticulous care of the care and had all service performed at the dealer. In fact, we had the radiator flushed just 5 months ago and only 9,500 miles ago.

8 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2003 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 04/19/2004

I have a 2003 Honda Pilot. I had the transmission and egr valve recalls services. Around 30,000 miles, I notice growling noise coming from the transmission. It happens when lightly accelerating from 1300 rpm to 1500 rpm. Once I had car jerking while starting from the start. Dealer has replaced the egr valve twice already due to the code. It happens more frequently now. I have 77,000 miles and has been serviced regularly by the dealer.

2003 Honda Pilot. Consumer states mechanical problems with the vehicle the consumer stated the drive light began to flash intermittently from the beginning of ownership.
