2 Sun/moon Roof Assembly problem of the 2023 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 11/15/2024

The contact owns a 2023 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the support from the moon roof was torn. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that without the supports, the moon roof would not be able to be covered. Failure Date: 07/31/2023

The moonroof malfunctioned and came off of the track. I could not close or open it. We brought the car into Honda. They also had problems closing the moonroof, and had to manually force it closed. They werent sure if its the track or the cable or motor. They asked me what I did to cause this. . I said all I did was press the button to open it. It opened and made a crunchy noise when I pressed the button agaion to close it. There were no warnings , symptoms of this problem prior to it coming off of the track. My car was 6 months out of warranty. The cost of the repair was $4000, Honda customer service was contacted and they agree to pay 40% of the cost , so the repair cost me 1475. 39. Ive heard from other Pilot owners of this occurring . 3 of the other owners had this repair done free, out of warranty. . . . Its not like its something I caused. . I just pressed a button and failure.

The contact stated that while the wife was backing out of the driveway the vehicle's glass sunroof suddenly exploded and shattered causing glass shards to fall into the cabin of the vehicle. Failure Date: 11/09/2022

Sunroof exploded on 2021 Honda Pilot. On Wednesday November 9, 2022 approximately 3pm, my wife was driving her 2021 Honda Pilot down the freeway when she heard a loud explosion above her head followed by the sound of rushing air. The sunroof glass had spontaneously exploded. Fortunately the sunroof internal cover was pulled shut or else broken glass would have fallen on my wife's head. Driving conditions were good and my wife did not see any object strike the vehicle. We have owned the car since April 2021 and it has ~ 8000 miles. It is in pristine condition, no damage or accidents.

7 Sun/moon Roof Assembly problem of the 2021 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 10/01/2021

The contact owns a 2021 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 - 30 mph, a loud bang noise was heard. The contact stated that the sunroof glass had exploded, and glass shards came inside of the vehicle and landed on the contact's hair and clothing. There was no impact to the sunroof that could have caused it to shatter. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the dealer informed the contact that a stone must have hit the sunroof and referred the contact to file a claim with the insurance company. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.

8 Sun/moon Roof Assembly problem of the 2015 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

The contact owns a 2015 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, a sudden booming noise was heard, and the driver noticed that the sunroof had exploded causing fractured glass to enter the cabin of the vehicle. No injuries were reported. The cause of the failure was not determined. A police report was later taken regarding the failure. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure.
